Introduction:

Tribhuvan University (TU), office of the Vice Chancellor, Directorate of Planning is going to provide affiliation for 4 years Bachelor of Arts in Computer Application (BCA) program to some of the colleges/campuses under Tribhuvan University (constituent or affiliated). The colleges/Campuses that is running any programs under TU can apply to run BCA program this year.

So according to news buzzing around (As inspection going in/out of valley), Tribhuvan University is planning to launch Bachelor of Arts in Computer Application (BCA) program from the academic year 2074/75.

The BCA program will be run under Faculties of Humanities and Social Sciences. Currently Purbanchal University and Pokhara University are running BCA program in Nepal.

Update:

Till date (2074/04/09) three Constituent Campuses have been provided letters to start the program from this session:

(1) Mechi Multiple Campus, Bhadrapur, Jhapa
(2) Patan Samyukta Campus, Patan Dhoka

Google is one of the best sources of downloadable books on the Internet, allowing you to choose what you want to read from various sources and access them on your computer or on an E-reader. Google Books has always helped users discover and read out-of-copyright books online.

You can notice that there are two forms of Google Books:

(1) Google Books search engine, online reader

(2) Google Play Books store.

Here I would be talking about a utility tool named "Google Books Downloader" for Downloading a sample or preview from Google Books Search.

Google Book Search is a tool from Google that searches the full text of books that Google scans, converts to text using optical character recognition, and stores in its digital database. Many popular books are available with Google Book. The books available can be read online only and cannot be downloaded for later use. You can download certain books as png that allows public-domain works and are free from copyright protection. Only few books are available with full preview based on agreements with publishers.

Google Books Downloader 2.5 is a Light-weight, Freeware utility that lets out download any book that's available in "full view" from Google Books. Of course, most of these books also feature download links right on the web page, but Google Books Downloader lets you queue up multiple jobs and convert all of the downloaded books to PNG, JPEG, and PDF files with various resolutions as the option (Starting from 350 px to 1280 px).

The application allows you to print the entire book or specific parts such as illustrations and paragraphs. You can also easily extract quotes from the book. This small piece of software will only allow you to download books with "Full view" or "Preview" status. Basically the number of pages you can view/preview on the Google Books website is the number of pages/photos you are allowed to download on your computer. If the user chooses to download and save the book as .jpeg or .png files, every page in that book will be saved as a different photo on your computer.

The user is able to choose the file format of the downloaded book, the destination folder and the resolution, which is very important when you are saving the book as a series of images. The resolution will define the quality and clarity of your files.

HOW TO DOWNLOAD GOOGLE BOOKS?

Step 1: Download and install the Google Books Downloader from Here . Now open the application after installation. Here is the preview of the software.

Step 2: In the Google search, find for your desired book that need to be previewed and download.

Step 3: Click the desired book to preview it before downloading. You can see the book contents (Not all the pages in many of the books). Now you are ready to go for a download.

Step 4: Copy the URL for the book you want to download. Open the preview in the Google Books search reader and then copy the URL.

Note: This tool will only download the pages that you can view in the Google Books website reader.

Step 5: Paste the URL into the "Google Book URL" box in Google Book Downloader.

Step 6: Select your output format (PDF, JPEG or PNG).

You can also select the resolution of your choice from the provided options.

Also there is an option where you want the book to be saved which can be set for the output folder. By default, it will be saved to your desktop.

Step 7: Click the "Start" button to begin downloading the book. This may take a little while if there are a lot of pages.

Step 8: Click on OK button after the download is complete.

Note: The contents can be found on the path you have selected as an output folder.

Microsoft OneDrive and Microsoft SkyDrive: What's the Fuss?

Microsoft OneDrive vs SkyDrive

Microsoft OneDrive and SkyDrive refers to the same cloud storage service (online storage service) provided by Microsoft and, in fact, there is no difference between them in the service they provide. It’s only a name change. Initially, Microsoft’s cloud storage service was called SkyDrive but later, due to a lawsuit that arose due to using of word “sky,” which breached the trademark of British Sky Broadcasting Group (BSkyB), Microsoft had to rebrand the service as OneDrive. So OneDrive is the latest name given to the former name SkyDrive. Now the name SkyDrive is no longer being used.

Microsoft SkyDrive:

In 2007, Microsoft introduced its cloud storage service under the name “Windows Live Folders” where it is an online storage space that the users who created an account got several Gigabytes of space.

Later, by the end of August 2007, the name was changed to SkyDrive and continued that name until the name was changed as OneDrive in 2014. To get a SkyDrive, account users should create a Microsoft Live account.

Initially, some free spaces of about 7 GB was provided (Currently users get 15 GB). If extra space is needed, they can be obtained by paying. To upload and download files, a web interface has been provided and it is supported by all major browsers such as Internet Explorer, Firefox and Google Chrome. Apart from the browser interface, client applications exist for various operating systems such as Windows, Windows Phone, iOS, Mac OSX, and Android where they allow synchronization of files in the local SkyDrive Folder with the online SkyDrive storage.

From Windows 8, Microsoft introduced SkyDrive features into the operating system itself where a metro application came inbuilt into the distribution and also latest Office products such as Office 2013 can work directly on the SkyDrive. In addition, SkyDrive is linked with Office Web applications where users can create office documents in the SkyDrive and, on the fly, use them directly from the web browser itself.

Apart from the normal SkyDrive, an enterprise service called SkyDrive Pro exists where that gives larger storage capacities integrated with more advanced features for business users. Users get several options to do with the files. One is, they can keep their files private. Another option is that they can share the file with others using a link. The next option is one can make a file publicly appear on web. Users can select whether a file is read-only to others users or whether it is editable.

Microsoft OneDrive:

Microsoft OneDrive (previously SkyDrive, Windows Live SkyDrive and Windows Live Folders) is a file hosting service that allows users to upload and sync files to a cloud storage and then access them from a web browser or their local device.

The concept behind the name OneDrive is spelled out pretty clearly by the refreshed service’s tagline: one place for everything in your life. “One place for all of your photos and videos. One place for all of your documents,” Microsoft said in its first OneDrive blog post. “One place that is seamlessly connected across all the devices you use.”

It is the latest name given for SkyDrive where the name change happened in February 2014. In 2013, British Sky Broadcasting Group (BSkyB), which is a British telecommunications company, filed a lawsuit against Microsoft for using the word “sky. ” After high court decided that Microsoft breached the trademark of Sky Broadcasting Corporation by using word “sky,” Microsoft settled down the case by deciding to drop the name. Then they named their service (rebranded) as OneDrive where SkyDrive became OneDrive and SkyDrive Pro became OneDrive for Business. Only the name was changed and there was no change to services or features.

OneDrive is Microsoft's competition to Google Drive and Apple's iCloud, attempting to be the place where customers can manage their files on the cloud from anywhere. The name change to OneDrive from SkyDrive doesn't change the overall meaning of what Microsoft is pursuing in the cloud: your one stop shop for file access - old name or new name.

OneDrive is free, personal online storage that you can choose to use at home, work, or school. Your files are available from any device by going to the OneDrive website or using the OneDrive mobile app for your phone.

Now nearly a year has passed since the name change and Microsoft added and modified features during this time. Currently, OneDrive provides the service of 15 GB of free storage for new users.. Office 365 users would get unlimited storage. The current web interface is a cleanly built interface using latest HTML 5.

The main difference between Microsoft OneDrive and SkyDrive:

Microsoft SkyDrive is a storage service introduced by Microsoft in 2007. In 2014, the name of the service was changed due to a lawsuit and the new name is OneDrive.
OneDrive is improving on SkyDrive, there's really no bad way to spin it. If you were a SkyDrive user in the past, you probably won't mind the rebranding and new features.

Finally!

The cloud storage service started by Microsoft in 2007 had the name “SkyDrive” but, in 2013, after a lawsuit filed by British Sky Broadcasting Company regarding the usage of word “Sky,” Microsoft had to drop the name SkyDrive. Then, in 2014, they re-branded the service under the name OneDrive. Hence, SkyDrive and OneDrive refers to the same service but the current name is OneDrive.

Viewer Preferences
It helps to specify how your PDF document will be displayed when opened by recipients with a standard PDF viewing application.

Example 1: Page Mode with Thumbnail Panel. This creates the PDF file with the thumbnails in the left Panel as shown in the image below:

The Security tab allows users to specify the level of security for the PDF files being created. Checking the Secure PDF box will give users options to apply a User or Owner password. Applying an Owner password enables users to add file permissions that can either restrict or allow users to print, copy content, modify the document and add comments.

पहिलो कथा : Heart and the anatomy of how to break it
For a short while, Deeva almost believed she could be Superwoman. She was flying high, and he was her red cape. All that an eleven year old girl ever wants in life is that she has her mother to teach her all kinds of ways to do her hair for school, and her father to tell him of her tales from school in the evening. Such was her life, when she was eleven. But then, all a father wants in life is a bottle of whiskey in the morning to wake up and a bottle of vodka in the evening to sleep. Well, at least hers did.

Daddy was a word used with caution. She wouldn’t know what version of daddy she might get every morning. One day he was a normal daddy, shaving his beard in the mirror, making jokes with her every now and then. And the next day daddy was barely able to walk a straight line, cursing everyone he saw and everything he fell over. Mommy knew Deeva shouldn’t have to see this, but what could she do? A home without a father is barely a home.

With all that happened around the house, Deeva still loved her father very much. He was the proud King of Deeva’s wonderland, and she, a princess of poise and everything beautiful. He would smile at her, sometimes with affection, and sometimes with bloodshot, liquored and hazy eyes. Nevertheless, she cherished his smiles, his strong arms that lifted her up to the ceiling, his beautiful, beautiful name that Deeva herself had anointed – Daddy.

She could see that mommy would always look solemn every time daddy returned home with that god awful smell all over him. She could hear them fight almost every night in the other room, when they thought she’d gone to sleep. She understood that daddy had a bad habit, and mommy hated it, but she also loved her daddy and she knew that someone she truly loved could not be wrong.

On a rainy Wednesday night, mommy was busy looking out the window, waiting for father to come home. Deeva was watching TV; mommy was too occupied to tell her to go study. It must have been almost eleven when finally mommy ran downstairs to open the doors for him, and Deeva cheerfully waited till they both returned upstairs. Mommy came upstairs soon, with a bitter look on her face. So it is the drunken daddy tonight, Deeva thought. Daddy wobbled himself to the room, placed himself to the nearest sofa from the door and mumbled something incoherent.

Mommy paid no attention and swiftly went to the kitchen to ready the dinner for daddy. He stared at the ceiling for a while, and mumbled something again, this time a little louder. Mommy made no effort to acknowledge him. Deeva, getting a little worried, peered into the kitchen. Mommy was curled up in a chair, her face buried in her shawl. Daddy mumbled something once more, and struggled around the sofa. Drunken as was the man, he had no clue of the direction he was moving to, and fell head first to the ground. A startled Deeva ran to her father’s rescue and helped him sit up.

The next thing she knew was a swift thunder and when her eyes opened she was on the floor, with a throbbing pain on her right cheek. Mommy was stood on her side, with a strange look in her eyes Deeva hadn’t seen before. When realisation dawned upon Deeva that the painful thunder was none but a father’s crude thank you to a daughter across her baby face, she broke into a loud cry. Mommy picked her up promptly and took her to the next room. Deeva wasn’t aware of much of what happened next, but in almost twenty minutes, mommy was dragging a big suitcase in her hands and with the other she held Deeva. Daddy was unconscious, lying on the same floor that she’d tried to help him off of. He looked nothing like a King but more of a pauper, sad and sorry. Mommy took the suitcase and her daughter and made her way out into the night, leaving the safety of a home with a daddy, and it seemed to Deeva that they wouldn’t be coming back soon.

She stole a look at mommy with her tear stricken face and saw that the night had failed to hide from her face a flicker of sadness, a little hint of fear and a whole lot of relief. Deeva knew not what they were heading to, but she no longer thought well of the bottles that daddy brought home.

दोस्रो कथा : Windows are the sores to my eyes

I’ve heard lots of praise about windows – being subjected to all the glory with that one saying with eyes being window to the soul and whatnot. Well, no. I don’t buy it. Windows are evil. Windows are hateful things and I loathe them, especially the fifty five windows that surround the fifty feet of my home. It’s so dark tonight, yet I can see through each one of them, making me the prying spy into my neighbours’ lives. If I look closely enough, I can see that old man on the fourth floor of that gigantic house right opposite my window smoking his Surya. And if his wife isn’t too careful with her bathroom window, I might just see her do some unmentionable activities. Sigh. These windows show me everything, everything except the one thing that I actually want to see tonight – stars.

Even in this load shedding laden night, I look out into the outlines of my neighbours’ windows and feel somehow violated. Sure, it’s me looking at them, but a piece of my privacy is lost into this as well. The more I ponder about the vicinity of my windows and theirs, the more I feel suffocated; it’s like they’re closing in on me slowly, slamming onwards, imprinting visions on my mind that I’d much rather forget. No, I don’t want to see Mrs. Shrestha pour milk on her lemon tea, and I don’t want to count the eight holes on Mr. Khaniya’s blue underwear. I just want to shut all my windows tight. But I can’t do that because then I’d literally suffocate.

Sometimes I wonder why my parents bothered with getting windows in our house. There are times when I am just being myself, prancing around my room that I dread drawing the curtains and finding a pair of judging eyes paying guest to my personal cirque du soleil. I’m scared of changing in my room on windy days because I know that pervert on the second floor right opposite my house is just lurking there on his window, waiting to catch a glimpse.

I find it funny that with all the things we are so careful of, we just can’t be a little wary of our windows. For instance there’s this girl right next to my house who is extremely careful about dimming her lights and locking her door before she gets on the phone with her boyfriend. Yet when she is all oohey-gooey romantically staring at the stars from her window saying, “I love you too Jaanu”, her mother is listening to her conversations from the next window.

You see, my neighbourhood is the worst kept secret, where everyone is closed off, but their secrets are open. And I feel like the world’s biggest hypocrite, hating windows and walls and yet I’m the civil engineer who’s building their walls so people have a fake sense of privacy. I’m the engineer who’s building their windows so their privacy is public’s business.

Syncing, Importing, and Organizing your Android Phone Contacts with Google Account

We are very much close friend with our GOOGLE isn't so? Then why not try to use more of it services along with our next best buddy ANDROID phones. Have you any idea that we can sync, import and organize all our android phone contacts with the Google account?

You can manage your Google contacts from within your Google account. This will save you from trying around on your mobile phone's keyboard to try to arrange, categorize, create, edit, and delete those contacts.

If you want the non-Google contacts that are already on your Android phone to be migrated to Google contacts, there is no way to do this directly on the phone; instead, you have to do an export/import. You have to export the contacts to a CSV file to your SD card and then import that file into Google.

The contacts on any Android phone can be created in three groups – SIM contact, Phone Contact and Google Account contact. If the new contacts are created in either of Phone or SIM, that cannot be synchronized with the Google account. For the contacts to be synced with the Google account, we need to create the contacts to save to Google account associated with the phone.

Steps:

(1) From the home screen, tap Contacts.

Note: If the shortcut is no longer on the home screen, tap Apps and tap Contacts.

(2) Tap the Menu key.

(3) Tap Import/Export.

(4) Tap Export to SD Card

(5) Select OK to confirm

The contacts are now exported to a vCard (i.e. vcf) file in the SD card.

Once this is done, import the same vcf file back, but import should be done under your Google account.

(6) Open Contacts > Menu > Import / Export > Import from SD Card > Choose your Google account (with gmail.com)

Note: When importing contacts, if prompted, tap to select the desired account the contacts are to be imported into. Now, this has created all the contacts in your Google account on your phone, next step is to sync the same on actual Google account online. Make sure you are connected to internet.

(7) Go to Settings > Accounts and Sync > Manage accounts, click on your Google account (displayed with your gmail id) > Make sure Contacts is checked > Open Menu > Sync now.

Listen is a website that converts your words into an MP3 file that you can play in the browser or download for offline use. The website follows the Responsive Design approach while the embedded MP3 player uses HTML5 and therefore should work on mobile devices and iPads that don't support the Flash player.

You have to just enter text (100 characters or less) into the input box, hit the Listen button and the computer will speak your words in naturally-sounding female voice.

Listen uses Google Translate's Text To Speech API to play back the written text into spoken voice.

Merge Two Images in MS Paint

Paint has come a long way over the years. It is included with every copy of Windows and is more than just a bitmap editor (BMP). The version that comes with Windows 7 and 8 allows us to edit JPG, TIFF, GIF and PNG files and has a better toolbar for editing and cropping.

To edit the photos you take on your camera or phone, there are many options out there , from the complex and expensive Photoshop, to the old stand by MS Paint. Merging images doesn't require the use of powerful software. Microsoft has included a basic photo editor called Microsoft Paint with every operating system since Windows XP. The Microsoft Paint software, included with Windows operating systems provides tools for simple tasks such as combining pictures. It allows an easy and fast process to merge images. It also enables image merging for any size of file in any commonly used image format according to your choice.

Steps:

1 Go to Start-->All Programs-->Accessories-->Paint to open the Microsoft Paint program.

2 Now choose "Open." In the file selection dialog box, highlight the first image to merge and then click the "Open" button.

3 Adjust the image of your requirement by holding the anchor square on the bottom-right corner of the image.

4 Click on "Paste" and select "Paste From" option. Select your second image from its location on your hard drive and double-click on it. The second image is loaded. It will be pasted on top of the first image. Now, adjust the image of your requirement by holding the anchor square on the bottom-right corner of the image.

5 Give the new merged image a name by typing it in the "File Name" box and click the "Save" button.

A Simple Notepad Trick to Increase RAM Speed in a Computer

If your computer is lagging or if applications are running slowly, you might have faulty RAM or not enough RAM for the amount of data you're storing.

Looking for a alternative to speed up your computing experience without having to buy a new computer?

I was wondering if it was possible to increase RAM speeds at smaller increments than what is available in my BIOS settings. And. the question is .... Is there anything I can do to increase the speed of my RAM? Of course YES. A lot of method do exists. But, for now I am not going to discuss all of them on this post. What i am going to do is to show you the way of using a notepad to speed RAM (as simple as it is....isn't it?).

Come on let's try this out.....This notepad tricks make to clean your RAM space and boost up the computer speed.

Steps:

(1) Open "Notepad"

(2) Copy below code and paste it in Notepad.

FreeMem=Space(64000000)

(3) Save Notepad file with “.vbs” extension. (Example: WipeRAM.vbs ).

(4) Close Notepad and Run this file.

Note: You can change RAM memory cleaning command depending upon your RAM size.

Example:

FreeMem= (256000000) - for 256 mb

FreeMem= (128000000) - for 128 mb

FreeMem= (72000000) - for 72 mb

FreeMem= (64000000) - for 64 mb

FreeMem= (32000000) - for 32 mb

FreeMem= (24000000) - for 24 mb

Precautions: Don't select the space that is larger than your RAM capacity.

Do you know how to extract subtitles (Captions) from a YouTube video?

The word "subtitle" is the prefix "sub-" (below) followed by "title". In a YouTube video a "caption" is only available on video where the owner has added them, and on certain video where YouTube automatically provides them. Subtitles exist in two forms: open subtitles are 'open to all' and cannot be turned off by the viewer; closed subtitles are designed for a certain group of viewers, and can usually be turned on/off or selected by the viewer.

Note: The terms captioning and subtitling may be confusing to some readers. Both terms relate to the addition of onscreen text that renders dialogue. (Sorry! I am not going to list the differences between them, rather i will focus on how to extract them from a YouTube video.)

Subtitles can be used in a lot of ways! You can watch the video in slow mode to learn English, if it is not your mother tongue. You can use video tutorials step by step instructions to learn technique while keeping note. if Subtitles supported by most video players. You can also save the document key value for all videos.

Here are some of the ways you can extract the captions or subtitles from a YouTube video:

Method 1: By Using 4K Video Downloader

4K Video Downloader allows to download video, audio and subtitles from YouTube in high-quality and as fast as your computer and connection will allow. Please, follow few simple steps to download the video with subtitles from YouTube.

Step 1: Download and install the 4K Video Downloader

Download and install the 4K Video Downloader application from the download page. It's available for Mac OS X, Windows and Linux.

Step 2: Copy the YouTube video link from your address bar in the browser

Step 3: Press "Paste Url" button in 4K Video Downloader application.

Step 4: Choose the quality of video and specify that you want to download subtitles and select a language. After that, click "Download".

Method 2: Extracting the XML file of the video

Open the video page in Chrome browser (or any other browser that provides HTTP debugging/Developer Tools) and pause the video
Right click anywhere on the page, and click on Inspect Element OR hit the F12 function key.
Click on Network tab
Under the Network tab look for an item called timedtext.
Right click on it and open that file in a new tab.
An xml file containing subtitles with their timestamps (the stuff inside of < >) opens up.

To get rid of the timestamps and just have the plain transcript, here is what you have to do:

Open up Microsoft Excel
Copy paste the subtitles inside one cell
Press Ctrl+H
In the replace tab type <*> in the Find What textbox and leave the Replace With textbox blank, and click Replace All. The search expression will remove all tags within the original text.

Update: The original URL pattern (struck through) appears to have changed. The subtitles can be fetched only if captions are manually transcribed i.e. not automatically generated

Reading text in a XML file is for machines. To view just the text in a XML (or HTML file), Just paste the XML content in EditPlus and use the Ctrl + Shift + P keyboard shortcut to convert. With other editors (You can try this in Notepad++ & Visual Studio) that support regular expressions, you can paste the XML content into it and use the expression <(.|\n)*?> with the Find and Replace option to get just plain text.

Method 3: By Using Google2SRT

Google2SRT is a tool that can download "not embedded" subtitles (Closed Captions - CC) from YouTube/Google Video videos (if those are present) and convert them to a standard format (SubRip - SRT) supported by most video players.

On this window you can load a subtitles file from YouTube/Google Video by writing video URL, and choose which subtitles want to convert and where you want to save them.

Now you can enjoy watching your favorite subscribed videos by downloading them with subtitles!

Have Some Fun With Google, Gmail and YouTube

Many of us are aware of search engine giant "Google", email service "Gmail", and video-sharing website "YouTube". Today I am going to write about some of the fun we can do with Google, Gmail and YouTube. As there are lots of fun things we have done with Google and tried with various searches with google but here are some more funny things you probably haven't given a try once. Just try share it with your friends.

Fun with Google

Google has added some Easter eggs to its products and services. Check these out!

Search "Do a barrel roll" or "z or r twice" on only Google and the screen will do a 360 spin.
Searching for "askew" or "tilt" using Google will cause the search results to be displayed at a slight angle.
Searching for "zerg rush" causes a bunch of Google "o"s to attack the result page and eventually destroy it but the user can fight back by clicking them. After destroying the results the "o"s then arrange themselves into two capital 'G's.
Searching for "kerning" will increase the spacing between every letter in the word kerning by 1 pixel whenever it shows up in the search results page. Conversely, searching for "keming" (a common example of unfortunate kerning) will decrease the spacing between letters of the word when it shows up in the search results page.

Fun with Gmail

On Gmail, if the background is set to "Ninja" press SHIFT+CTRL+F1 and the ninja will send an automatic email saying 'Hello' to everyone in the user's contacts.
You may already know this (I just found out myself) but Gmail supports plus-addressing. In other words, you can send an email to yourusername+anystring@gmail.com and it'll be delivered to yourusername@gmail.com. As it turns out, gmail also ignores any periods in the username so your.username@gmail.com will go to yourusername@gmail.com as will y.ou.ruserna.me@gmail.com.

Fun with YouTube

Holding down the left and up arrow while pausing or watching a video caused a game of Snake to launch. This could also be done by pressing the right arrow instead of the left one. This was actually a result of two steps; pressing the up arrow while a video is loading launches the game, while pressing the left arrow forces the video to rewind and load momentarily, thus allowing the game to launch. Since the 2013 update, this no longer works, and now only works by pressing down while buffering instead.
As of November 2013, searching for "doge meme" on YouTube, changes the font on the search result page to pastel color Comic Sans.
If a user right clicks on a YouTube video it gives one of the options in the Context menu is "stats for nerds".
If you click to the side of a video and type in "1980" and press enter, a game of missile command will begin. If too many meteoroids hit the bottom, the video will "break" and stop playing.
Putting in the search box "do the harlem shake" will cause the page to do the Harlem Shake. It can be muted and paused.

Many people think of plagiarism as copying another's work or borrowing someone else's original ideas. But terms like "copying" and "borrowing" can disguise the seriousness of the offense. Getting Rid of Spam in Your Gmail Account.

Email spam, also known as junk email or unsolicited bulk email (UBE), is a subset of electronic spam involving nearly identical messages sent to numerous recipients by email. Clicking on links in spam email may send users to phishing web sites or sites that are hosting malware. Spam email may also include malware as scripts or other executable file attachments. Definitions of spam usually include the aspects that email is unsolicited and sent in bulk. They can quickly fill up your email account if you don't do anything about it. Each email server deals with spam in a different way.

According to Business Week magazine:

In a single day in May [2003], No. 1 Internet service provider AOL Time Warner (AOL ) blocked 2 billion spam messages -- 88 per subscriber -- from hitting its customers' e-mail accounts. Microsoft (MSFT), which operates No. 2 Internet service provider MSN plus e-mail service Hotmail, says it blocks an average of 2.4 billion spams per day. According to research firm Radicati Group in Palo Alto, Calif., spam is expected to account for 45% of the 10.9 trillion messages sent around the world in 2003.

Gmail is good at separating the spam for you so that you can get rid of it more quickly. It is easy to delete the spam and if you want to take it a little farther, you can get some of the spam to stop coming all together.

Opting Out of Spam

Go to Gmail.com
Log in to your Gmail account with your email address and password.
Click on the word "Spam" in the upper left hand corner of your screen.
Open up one of your spam emails and scroll down to the bottom of it.
There should be a link for opting out of receiving future messages.
Click this link to get off of the individual's email list.
You may want to go this route so that you stop receiving messages all together.
See if you have to type your email address in to opt out.
Some companies will automatically take you off their list when You click the "Opt Out" link, but some require you to enter the email address you want to take off from their list.
Click on the "Unsubscribe" link.
You will no longer get spam from them.

To remove spam from your inbox:

Select the message you'd like to report.
Click the spam button in the toolbar above your message list. (If you have the message open, you can also report it as spam by using the same button.)

To remove spam forever:

Click the Spam link along the left side of any Gmail page. (If you don't see Spam along the left side of your Gmail page, click the More drop-down menu at the bottom of your labels list.)
Select the messages you'd like to delete and click Delete forever.
Or delete everything by clicking Delete all spam messages now.

Automatically Delete Spam Messages in Gmail

Open your Gmail Settings by clicking on the Gear button.
Select Filters tab from it.
Now click on Create a New Filter.
Now a window will pop-up, look for the Has the Words field in this window and type “in:spam” without quotes.
Leave all other fields empty and click Create Filter with this Search and select OK to proceed to next step.
Check mark the box Delete it and Also Apply filter to next to Create Filter and click on Create Filter.
Now you will see a message Your Filter was Created.

The more spam you mark, the better our system will get at weeding out those annoying messages. If you or we mark a good message as spam, select the message and click Not Spam at the top of the message. If you marked it as spam, you can also immediately click Undo afterwards to recover the message.

Microsoft Office Picture Manager is a software program included with the Microsoft Office suite versions 2003 through 2010.

The Microsoft Office Picture Manager has been a very quick and easy tool to use, built into Office and readily available no matter what machine I have to use. I would rather not have to install 3rd party software to do what it has made easy to do in the past. If you use Microsoft Office 2013 you probably noticed that unlike previous versions of Microsoft Office, “Microsoft Office Picture Manager” is not included in Microsoft Office 2013.

I was used to using Picture Manager as my default picture editor/manager since it came with Office. As a matter of fact, this little program was very useful for many not-that-advanced users since it includes some basic and helpful features like crop, rotate, brightness, contrast, red eye removal, etc. and also a quick tool to make many pictures smaller for sending via e-mail for example.

Microsoft has made several bad decisions with Office 2013. The lack of Picture Manager is one of them. Windows Live Photo Gallery has feature gaps, as does Word and PowerPoint - compared to Picture Manager. Unfortunately, Windows Live Photo Gallery does not do the jobs as well as Office Picture Manager.Removing functionality from a product suite will only promote users to stay on the current platform and will help competitors like Google who are looking to jump on Microsoft's mistakes.

Do we have to turn to some other 3rd party program? No!! So, how to get back your favorite program????

Solution 1:

To have it back on your computer, there’s a solution. Just download and install “Microsoft SharePoint designer”, and use only one feature of this installer. This software is free to download, and you don’t need any serial number/activation key.

Steps:

1. Download the installer (32 bit, 64 bit).

2. Download the installation pack and run it. Don’t forget to click “Customize“.

3. On this screen, click on every program on the list, and choose “Not Available” from the options list:

4. Next, click on the plus sign next to “Office Tools” in order to expand it, and click on “Microsoft Office Picture Manager” and choose “Run from My Computer”:

5. Click “Continue”. YourMicrosoft Office Picture Manager is now installed.

Solution 2:

Following the below steps you can install missing Picture Manager tool in your system containing the latest Office 2013 version.

1. You can use any Office version setup such as Office 2010, 2007 or 2003. Simply run the Office installer, enter product key and when it asks for installation type, click on “Customize” button

2. Click on each given program link and select “Not Available” from the options list

3. Click on “Microsoft Office Picture Manager” program link present in “Office Tools” section and select “Run from My Computer” option.

You will see a screen similar to following where all program entries except Picture Manager will have a red cross icon on them:

Command Prompt is a command line interpreter application available in most Windows operating systems. Command Prompt is officially called Windows Command Processor but is also sometimes called the command shell or by its file name cmd.exe.

Note: Command Prompt is sometimes incorrectly referred to as "the DOS prompt" or as MS-DOS itself. Command Prompt is a Windows program that emulates many of the command line abilities available in MS-DOS but it is not actually MS-DOS.

Technique to Disable Office 2013 Start Screen

When you open Microsoft Office 2013 program (Any of them like MS Word, MS Powerpoint, etc.), a start screen automatically displays showing the various templates available, list of recent documents opened in the left column, etc. Many of you find this screen annoying and want to avoid it, So here I am to help you guys!!

Method 1: Simple Process

From within the main edit screen, go to File > Options or use the keyboard shortcut, ALT+F, T. Under the General Options tab, go to Startup options and uncheck the box next to "Show the Start screen when this application starts." Perform the same steps for each of the applications in the Office 2013 suite.

The next time you launch your Office application, you'll get the editor first, rather than the start screen. Remember that you'll need to make the change in each of the Office 2013 applications where you want to disable the start screen.

Method 2: Registry Trick

Attention: We are playing with Registry Editor so.... Guys! Be sure to back up before making changes to the registry.

To open the registry editor, press the Windows Key + R to open the Run dialog box. Enter “regedit” (without the quotes) in the Open edit box and click OK.

Note: If the User Account Control dialog box displays, click Yes to continue. Depending on your User Account Control settings you may not see this dialog box.

Now, Just navigate to the following key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Common\General

Search the key called DisableBootToOfficeStart, listed in the right-hand pane. If it’s not in the list, create it by right-clicking on the General key in the tree on the left (or in an empty space in the right pane) and moving the cursor over New on the popup menu and selecting DWORD (32-bit) Value from the sub popup menu.

The new value is called New Value #1 by default and the text is highlighted.

Now, change the name to DisableBootToOfficeStart and double-click on it.

Change the value in the Value data edit box to 1 and click OK. This disables the Start Screen in all Office 2013 applications.

The value displayed changes to 1.

From now on, if you start any Office 2013 product, you won’t see the Start Screen. For instance, if you open Word 2013, it directly opens a new document. Enjoy!!
