Out and about running my errands like I do, I almost always
end up conversing about hair. Typically
someone will approach me in one of the aisles of my fave consumer haven spot,
Target. By the time the conversation is
over it’s usually a mutual respect and admiration for each other’s fro and each
of us dishing the tea on our hair resume.

So I've talked about my
plan to get Havana twists for awhile now, giving my curls some much needed off
duty time. My impatience took a turn for
the worse last week which led me to wearing two strand twists using my own hair
for about 4 days and I have to say it made me even more excited about my

I am and have been a fan of Karen’s Body Beautiful, the entire
line - no surprises there. If you follow me on any social media outlet, you already know this. In fact, most of her line is a

leave -ins are not created equal and believe me when I tell you, there is no
mediocre when it comes to this leave in.
I put that on everything. You

Ok, ok,
before you turn up and start going in on me about breaking a cardinal natural
hair care sin, let me explain a few things.
I am a rule follower; I don’t cuss in front of my parents, I don’t

course I am all too familiar with the basic nighttime ritual rules; must

So, I had recently cut the remainder of my bone
straight hair off and found that none of my staples worked for my hair. It
seemed as though my new texlaxed head of hair HATED everything I used before. Nothing
seemed to moisturize my hair and it was constantly dry no matter what I used. I
did a bit of research and after a series of porosity tests, I realized that I
had low porosity hair.

So a few weeks ago I posted a pic on instagram of
me and my big hair revisiting the wash and go. The wash and go and I have a complicated
relationship. As a new natural, it was
all I knew. Maybe a year ago I retired
the look because I found it to be a challenge as I retained more and more

It’s that time of year when conversation about what to do
with our hair for the summer is in full swing.
Cut if off, go into full protected mode?
For many, summer represents vacation, day parties and easy living. We aim to have fun and look good while doing
it and low maintenance is a fabulous way of doing just that. Although Brandy has pretty much moved on from

I am always in the search of something
to add volume to my curly locs. I live
for big hair and yes, size does matter.
I can’t think of enough cliché comments to convey how I feel about
it. “bigger is better”, “go big or go
home”? For me, it’s not so much about length
as it is volume nor is it about pure aesthetics because we’ve all seen some
super dope twas, I used to rock one myself.

When I received Ouidad’s Curl Recovery Meltdown Extreme Repair Mask in
the mail I thought why not be open to new friends.

After a proper detangle and shampoo session, I
applied a generous amount of the repair mask <img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/blogspot/RIAOQ/~4/JH-MrS7023Y" height="1" width="1"/>

How Social Media Has Contributed to Our Obsession With Our Natural Hair

After moving from Jamaica and living in the US for
4 1/2 years my hair didn't really adjust to the seasonal changes and so what
was once full hair became shorter and thinner. This was my first experience of
having hair loss and I was not too pleased. Mark you I made it work but I
really missed my hair. I've been natural all my life and I just thought that my
hair would always be there. A few months ago I started reading “Hair Care Rehab: The Ultimate Hair
Repair &amp; Reconditioning Manual” written by Audrey Davis-Sivasothy and got
sidetracked due to some medical issues.
Thankfully I picked back up right where I left off and am so happy I
did. In a sea of publications on the
subject of hair care, this one definitely stands out.

I’ve always been what I consider to be a rule follower
for the most part. I believe parameters
are put in place for good reasons that are not always transparent and serve the
purpose of balance and order. Of course
that comes with a few qualifiers; will it affect my life negatively, i.e. will
I go to jail?, does it compromise my morals and values? That being said, I do things that <img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/blogspot/RIAOQ/~4/mK2WVgm90AA" height="1" width="1"/>

Gone With the Wind Fabulous

Top down and
a new pair of sunnies! This week the
temperature finally broke 75 degrees as we welcomed Spring for the second time
this year. The first one signaled by the
calendar, the latter dictated by the weather.
Either way Spring has arrived and I’m ready. After such a long, challenging winter season,
it’s a nice to leave the coats behind in exchange for light jackets. For me the <img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/blogspot/RIAOQ/~4/23QOl2eDFAY" height="1" width="1"/>

Bring Back the Afro

Did you hear? The afro is making a comeback!
Shout out to the 70’s
for taking the look reminiscent of the era back never
again to be seen. Unless
you look in cities such as New York, Philly, or Baltimore just to name a
few, that is. Simon Doogan is
championing the cause and has called for the return of
the afro. It’s almost like Christopher
Columbus discovering America. Um,

As of late I’ve been really enjoying my curls so much that I’ve
worn my hair out nearly every day. This
morning I decided to get back to the business of bunning, which was once my
signature look. I woke up this morning
feeling every bit of Wednesday and just wasn’t feeling hair in my face, hair
all over the place, etc. So instead of
taking my nighttime pineapple down and <img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/blogspot/RIAOQ/~4/uIAf7vzq-XQ" height="1" width="1"/>

NaturalView - Brianna

The question everyone always wants to know is why
you made the decision to go natural. I’m

This is part 2 of my Ouidad product review. Earlier this week, I shared with you my
review of the Whipped Curls Daily Conditioner and Styling Primer. If you missed it, click here. What I like about both of these products is
