Iron Man 2 2010

Six months after revealing his identity as Iron Man, Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) has helped maintain world peace. He opens the Stark Expo in Flushing, New York, to continue his father's legacy. The United States government, and Senator Stern (Gary Shandling) in particular, demand that Stark give the technology to the military application. Stark refuses, publicly shaming rival Justin Hammer (Sam Rockwell) in demonstrating how rivals are at least five years away from successfully recreating the technology.

Stark has discovered the palladium in the arc reactor keeping him alive is slowly poisoning him. All attempts to find a substitute element have failed. Slowly going off the rails as a consequence of what he believes to be his impending death, he appoints his former personal assistant Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) CEO of Stark Industries, replacing her with Natalie Rushman (Scarlett Johansson).

While racing in Monaco, Stark is attacked by Ivan Vanko (Mickey Rourke), who has constructed a miniaturized arc reactor of his own, including whip-like attachments harnessing the electrical energy. Defeating Vanko with the aid of his Mark V briefcase armor, Stark discovers that Vanko is the son of his father's old business partner, disgraced Russian physicist Anton Vanko, who collaborated on the first arc reactor and has passed the technology on following his death. Vanko is broken out of jail by Justin Hammer, who puts him to work fashioning a line of "Iron Drones" that he will use to upstage Stark at his own Expo.

With the government leaning on him even harder following the revelation that arc reactor technology is in the hands of someone else, Stark throws what he believes will be his last birthday party and promptly proceeds to get drunk whilst wearing the Iron Man armor, becoming a danger to himself and others. His friend Lt. Colonel James Rhodes (Don Cheadle) takes the Mark II armor and fights him, and delivers the armor to the military. Disgraced, Stark is approached by Nick Fury of S.H.I.E.L.D (Samuel L. Jackson), who provides him with a chest of his father's old artifacts that can hopefully be used to find a cure for his palladium poisoning. Reviewing the film reels in the chest, Stark realizes his father has left him a hidden message in the original diorama of the 1974 Stark Expo: the model is also a diagram of the atomic structure of an unknown element. Tony builds a particle accelerator with the aid of his computer J.A.R.V.I.S. (voiced by Paul Bettany) and synthesizes this new element. The newly synthesized element is then loaded into a modified Arc Reactor chest piece, and cures Stark's palladium poisoning. Ivan calls Tony revealing that he is still alive and set on revenge.

At the Expo, Hammer unveils his new military drones, captained by Rhodes in a heavily-weaponized version of the confiscated Mark II armor. Stark arrives in his new Mark VI armor intending to warn Rhodes, but it is then revealed that Vanko has complete control of both the drones and Rhodes's new armor, as he sends them on the attack. As Stark battles against these remote-controlled enemies, Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau) and Natalie (revealed to actually be an undercover S.H.I.E.L.D. agent named Natasha Romanoff) race to Hammer's Queens facility to stop Vanko. By the time they arrive, Vanko has already departed for the Expo in a new, more powerful suit of armor, but Natalie is able to give Rhodes control of his armor again so that he and Stark can fight the drones and Vanko together. After taking down the drones, the two armored allies combine their powers and successfully defeat Vanko, but his armor and drones are revealed to have been equipped with self-destruct charges. As they begin to go off, Stark races to save Pepper, rescuing her at the last minute. She quits her CEO position, and she and Stark finally kiss, after which Rhodes departs with his new armor.

At a debriefing, Fury informs Stark that while Stark is "unsuitable" for the "Avengers Initiative", S.H.I.E.L.D. wants Iron Man as a consultant. Stark agrees on the condition that Senator Stern present him and Col. Rhodes with their medals for bravery.

In a post-credits scene, S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) is seen driving to a remote impact crater in the New Mexico desert. As he informs Fury over the phone that they've "found it", the crater is shown to contain Mjolnir, the hammer of Thor.

While at the Springwood Diner with his girlfriend, Kris Fowles (Katie Cassidy), Dean Russell (Kellan Lutz) falls asleep at the table and meets a man covered in burn scars, wearing a red and green sweater and a clawed glove on his hand. The burned man cuts Dean's throat in the dream, but in reality it appears that Dean is cutting his own throat as friend and waitress Nancy Holbrook (Rooney Mara) looks on with Kris. At Dean's funeral, Kris sees a photograph of her and Dean as children, but cannot recall ever knowing Dean before high school. Kris begins to dream about the burned man herself and refuses to go to sleep for fear that she will die in her dreams. Jesse Braun (Thomas Dekker), Kris's ex-boyfriend, shows up at her house to keep her company while she sleeps, but Kris meets the burned man in her dreams and is murdered. Covered in blood, Jesse runs to Nancy's house to try to explain what happened and he learns that Nancy has been having dreams about the same man; that man's name is Freddy (Jackie Earle Haley).

Jesse is apprehended by the police under suspicion of murdering Kris, and is killed by Freddy when he falls asleep in his jail cell. With her friends dying, Nancy begins to question what everyone's connection is to each other, given that none of them can remember each other before their teenage years. Eventually, Nancy and her friend Quentin Smith (Kyle Gallner) discover that all of them, including more children, attended the same preschool together. Nancy's mother Gwen (Connie Britton) reluctantly tells Nancy and Quentin that there was a gardener at the preschool, Fred Krueger, who hurt Nancy and the rest of the kids. Gwen explains that Nancy was his favorite, and came home one day telling her mom about Freddy's "magic cave" and the things that happened down there. Gwen claims Krueger skipped town before he was arrested. Nancy does not believe her and attempts to track down the remaining kids from the school. Nancy eventually discovers that all of the other kids have been killed, most of them in their sleep. Meanwhile, Quentin tries to accept that everything is nothing more than repressed memories, but he falls asleep during swim practice and witnesses what really happened to Krueger. Quentin sees everyone's parents hunt down Krueger, and then burn him alive. Quentin and Nancy confront Quentin's father, Alan Smith (Clancy Brown), about the reality they murdered Krueger with no actual evidence that he had committed any crime. Nancy and Quentin, who both begin sporadically dreaming while they are awake as a result of insomnia, decide to go to the preschool and learn what they can about Krueger.

On the way, Nancy falls asleep and is attacked by Freddy, but when Quentin wakes her up they discover she has pulled a piece of Freddy's sweater out of the dreamworld and into reality. Quentin takes Nancy to the hospital for cuts on her arm; there, he steals some adrenaline and a syringe to help them stay awake. Nancy and Quentin leave the hospital and eventually make it to the preschool. Quentin uncovers Krueger's "magic cave" and the evidence that proves Krueger was physically and sexually abusing all of the children. Nancy decides the only way to end this is to pull Krueger out of their dreams and kill him in reality. Quentin tries to stay awake long enough to pull Nancy out of her dream when she has Freddy, but he falls asleep and is attacked. Krueger then goes after Nancy, and explains that he intentionally left her for last so she would stay awake long enough that when she finally fell asleep, she would no longer be able to wake back up. While Nancy struggles with Freddy, Quentin wakes and uses the adrenaline to bring Nancy up and pull Freddy into reality. With Krueger distracted by Quentin, Nancy uses a broken paper cutter blade to cut Freddy's gloved hand off, and then slice his throat. Afterward, Nancy torches the secret room, with Krueger's body left inside, while she and Quentin leave. Nancy and her mother return home from the hospital, with Nancy being told she should get some sleep. Krueger suddenly appears in a mirror's reflection and kills Nancy's mother before pulling her body through the mirror while Nancy screams.

The New Daughter 2009

John James, a recently divorced novelist, moves into an old house in the country with his teenage daughter, Louisa, and young son, Sam. John and Louisa's relationship is strained and she accuses him of never loving her mother. While exploring the surrounding fields and forest they come across a large burial mound. Louisa is instantly attracted to it, whereas Sam is reluctant to go near it. On their first night in the house Louisa hears strange noises outside her bedroom window. She doesn't see the humanoid creature lurking close-by on the roof. The next day Sam finds a loaded shotgun hidden inside the piano in the living room. John buries it in the garden.

In town, John learns that his house is famous locally for the disappearance of a woman who lived there. Later, he finds Louisa's pet cat torn apart near the house. Louisa returns to the mound after school and, while relaxing in the sunshine, hears strange noises. That night John finds a trail of muddy footprints leading from the open front door to the bathroom. Louisa is inside, sitting in the tub, washing mud from her body and hair. The muddy water draining away turns red with blood. Later that night, John finds Louisa sleepwalking in her room. When he takes her back to bed he finds a strange doll made from straw, inside of which is a dark ball containing a live spider.

The next morning Louisa comes down for breakfast wearing a short dress and make-up. When John asks her about the doll she claims not to have seen it before. When Louisa and Sam are at school, John finds a pile of muddy clothes in her room and, at the burial mound, the head of Louisa's toy doll along with the bloody remains of a blackbird. He's called in to pick Louisa up from school when she complains of stomach pain. When Sam's teacher, Cassandra, gives John her phone number, Louisa becomes territorial. That night, John sees Louisa emerging from the woods after having forbidden her to return to the mound. She has a rash on the skin around her neck, and at dinner she eats as though starved.

John finds an article about burial mounds on the internet and telephones an expert on the subject, Professor White, but is ignored. He then reads about the previous owner of the house, Sarah Wayne: she disappeared one day without a trace, after having locked her teenage daughter in her bedroom from the outside. The daughter was eventually found alive and went to live with her father, Roger.

John leaves the children with a babysitter and goes to see Roger Wayne and discovers that he burned down his house with his daughter inside. Roger tells John that she wasn't his daughter anymore. In the girl's room, John finds a strange nest made from twigs and straw and a depiction of the burial mound scrawled on her wall. While John is away, the babysitter is locked out of the house and killed by the creatures. After the police have left Louisa vomits on the hallway floor. John takes her to bed and she tearfully asks him if he's going to leave her like her mother did. He tells her he never will. John dreams of a doorway on top of the burial mound and Louisa transforming into a creature. The next day he finds the same kind of nest in Louisa's room. He decides to take action, digs up the shotgun and hires a contractor to destroy the burial mound.

Before the demolition takes place, Professor White arrives and pleads with John to wait. He tells him of an ancient civilization who worshiped the burial mounds, believing them to be the homes of ancient Gods, or "mound-walkers". He mentions a ritual involving the exchange of gifts, including small straw dolls, and the mound-walkers search for a young girl to mate with who could give birth to a new generation of deities and help them reclaim the earth. Horrified by this, John instructs the bulldozer to start its work. When it cuts into the mound, the body of the babysitter is discovered. John is taken to the police station for questioning while Cassandra the teacher looks after the kids.

That night, when a police officer drives John home, they are attacked and the officer dragged out of the car screaming. John returns home to discover Cassandra with her throat slit open. Before she dies she reaches for Louisa. Mound-walkers attack the house and John shoots and kills them. After the attack, Louisa is missing, and her screams can be heard coming from the mound. John takes Sam up to his room and tells him to wait for the police, before kissing him goodbye. He goes to the mound to rescue Louisa and finds a tunnel leading into it. He sets a can of gasoline and the explosives from the postponed demolition by the entrance and crawls inside. He finds himself in a deep network of tunnels. He finds Louisa in a pit, unconscious and covered in mud. When he carries her out the creatures start to howl and give chase. In the meantime, Sam comes out of the house, clutching a family portrait, and looks towards the mound.

John and Louisa escape the mound and block the entrance with a canister of gasoline, but there is another mound-walker waiting for them. Louisa collapses and begs her daddy not to leave her. She then begins to transform into one of the creatures. John drops a light into the gasoline and the mound goes up in a huge explosion.

After a while, in reflection on the family portrait that Sam is holding, we see a figure emerging slowly from the flames. Sam asks "Daddy?" as several mound-walkers crawl down the walls of the house and another creeps up behind him.

But after a violent car crash, Russell leaves his life and family behind to go out into the world and be his true self. He moves to Miami, finds a boyfriend (Rodrigo Santoro) and begins living the high life. He realizes quickly though, that a life of luxury is expensive, leading this resourceful former cop to turn to a life as a conman. But when his con work finally catches up with him, Russell is sent to prison where he meets, and almost instantly falls in love with Phillip Morris (Ewan McGregor). From there it becomes a story of a forlorn lover who cannot bear to be separated from his soul-mate. He will go to any lengths to be with Phillip, including but not limited to walking out of jail pretending to be a doctor, after stealing a badge and painting his clothing, ordering his release pretending to be a judge, impersonating Morris's lawyer and fraudulently becoming the CFO of a major corporation. Jake is assigned to CG Air Station Kodiak, Alaska for protection of the Bering Sea, Randall’s post and the same post Jake wants to be assigned to in the first place. On a mission together they are sent to rescue two kayakers trapped in a cave. Fischer enters the cave and lights a flare. This brings back painful memories as Ben flashes back to his crew's disaster. After rescuing the first victim Jake returns to find Ben locked up unable to move. Ben's victim had hit a log and had a head laceration, which reminded him of the night he lost his crew. Jake continues to rescue both the second victim and Ben. At this point Ben realizes he cannot continue. Against his commander's wishes he retires. Jake again asks Ben what the number is. Twenty-two is the answer, the number of people Ben couldn't save, the only number he kept track of. Finding his wife’s house, Ben goes in to apologize. He gives her the divorce papers and his wedding ring while they both act remorseful. Ben reveals that he has retired and slowly makes his way out. Ben returns to station to clear his office when he hears the radio chatter of a rescuer needed. Jake is to be sent to rescue four sailors trapped on a sinking vessel.

Three seamen are rescued while the ship's captain is trapped in the hull. While Jake refuses to leave the captain, the chopper leaves to refuel. Finally freeing the captain, the door to the room is sealed shut by water and debris. Trapped in the room the hull begins to fill with seawater. Moreover, waves hit the vessel, causing the captain to hit his head against a pipe.

In addition, an oxygen tank falls on the captain's body, killing him in the process. Ben Randall is the only rescue swimmer available to save Jake. He promptly begins to gather his gear. On scene, Ben is lowered onto the vessel. Getting snagged on the mast he is forced to unhook and climb down. At this point Jake has very little breathing room. Finding the sealed door, the water is released and Jake is freed. Back on deck they both hook to the rescue cable. Halfway up, the winch jams and the cable begins to unravel. Ben, realizing it can't hold both of them, unhooks and tries to fall. Jake catches and will not let him go, holding onto him by his glove simply saying, "I won't let go." Ben understandingly says, "I know." and unstraps his glove, plummeting from a fatal height into the ocean. Desperate to go in, Jake isn't allowed, as the only cable they have is broken and are afraid to lose Jake as well; the spotlights never see Ben resurface.

Then, Jake Fischer begins to narrate. "The Coast Guard conducted one of the largest search-and-rescue missions for a single man in its history, but the body of Senior Chief Ben Randall was never found. What makes a legend? Is it what someone did when they were alive... or how they're remembered after they're gone? Some people actually believe Senior Chief made the swim to the Aleutian Islands. He's standing on a distant beach somewhere with a fishing pole in his hand. But I found my answer a couple of weeks later..." Weeks later, Jake is again sent to rescue a man. Upon retrieval, the victim keeps asking where the other man is. Jake realizes that 'someone' helped him, staying with him until help came. "He never let go", the man said. Jake attributes this to Ben's presence and continues his narration. "There's a legend—of a man who lives beneath the sea. He's a fisher of men. A last hope for all those who have been left behind. He is known as The Guardian (Senior Chief Ben Randall). Ben Randall always said life is about making choices. In the end, by making his, he helped me make mine."

This narration Jake makes refers to being reunited with Emily for good. In saying so, he visits Emily at the elementary school she teaches at. Because her class was interrupted by Jake, Emily pauses her class, approaches him and asks, "What are you doing here?" Jake answers, "I lied to you—I can't do casual." There, Emily kisses Jake happily.

The film starts with a voice narration where a man dressed like a superhero with artificial wings leaps from a high building impressing a crowd until he falls and crashes down.

It is six month earlier, where the narrator, Dave Lizewski (Aaron Johnson) is an average teenager who wonders why nobody in real life has ever decided to become a superhero like the ones in the comic books. After being mugged while a bystander watches and does nothing, he decides to become a real-life superhero. He buys a scuba suit on eBay as his costume and becomes a masked crime fighter, despite the fact he has no superpowers or training of any kind.

Dave fails miserably: he is beaten, stabbed, and hit by a car. He convinces paramedics to say nothing of his costume, and spends several weeks in the hospital. Upon returning to school, Dave finds his longtime crush, Katie (Lyndsy Fonseca), is surprisingly interested in him, but only because a rumor has spread that he is gay. Dave goes along with this in an effort to spend time with her.

Undeterred by his earlier setback, and discovering that he has a newfound high-tolerance for pain due to his accident, Dave uses two modified night sticks to defend a man from three attackers. A bystander records the event, and asks who he is, and Dave responds, "I'm Kick-Ass." The video becomes a YouTube phenomenon. In response, Dave sets up a MySpace account so people can contact Kick-Ass.

Katie admits to Dave that she is being harassed by a drug dealer, so he convinces her to ask Kick-Ass for help. Kick-Ass tracks down the drug dealer to deliver a warning, but runs afoul of not only the drug dealer, but also his associates. He is rescued by child costumed vigilante Hit-Girl (Chloë Moretz), who kills the attackers and then leaves with her father, Big Daddy (Nicolas Cage). Later they tracked down Kick-Ass by tracing his MySpace account, informing him that they can work together, and they will keep in contact. Big Daddy is revealed to be Damon Macready, a former cop, framed by local crime syndicate leader Frank D'Amico (Mark Strong) who saw him as a threat. While Damon was in prison, his pregnant wife commited suicide by overdosing on pills, however the surgeons were able to save his newborn daughter, Mindy. After his release, Damon trains Mindy to fight crime. Damon's former partner, Marcus (Omari Hardwick), discovers their secret through a comic book Damon drew and argues that Mindy should have a normal childhood, but agrees to keep quiet.

Believing Kick-Ass to be responsible for killings and theft of drug money, D'Amico orders his men to eliminate him. After a failed attempt to kill Kick-Ass (where he really killed an impersonator), D'Amico's son, Chris (Christopher Mintz-Plasse), suggests a different approach. Chris poses as a superhero named Red Mist to trick Kick-Ass into trusting him, and lead him into a trap. Red Mist meets Kick-Ass, brings him to D'Amico's warehouse to "ambush" his men. Instead they find the building on fire with everyone inside dead. Red Mist retrieves surveillance footage which shows that Big Daddy is responsible.

Realizing the seriousness of his situation, Dave wants to quit being a superhero. He tells Katie about being Kick-Ass and about not being gay, and she forgives him and invites him to spend the night, after which they kiss. Katie becomes his girlfriend that night and has sex with him in an alley the next day. Later, Dave finds urgent messages from Red Mist, requesting they meet, and to find Hit Girl and Big Daddy. Kick-Ass unwittingly leads Red Mist to one of the Macreadys' safe houses, with D'Amico's men following. Red Mist shoots Hit-Girl, knocking her out a window. Big Daddy and Kick-Ass are captured and taken to a warehouse, to be tortured and unmasked in a live Internet broadcast. Kick-Ass and Big Daddy are severely beaten and about to be set on fire, when Hit Girl arrives and kills the gangsters. Big Daddy is badly burned and dies of his injuries. Kick-Ass tries to convince Hit-Girl to quit, but she plans to stop D'Amico, and Kick-Ass reluctantly agrees to help.

Posing as a schoolgirl, Mindy enters D'Amico's headquarters and kills the guards. As Hit-Girl she kills nearly all the henchmen in the penthouse, but runs out of ammunition and is cornered, and about to be blasted with a bazooka. Kick-Ass comes to the rescue on with a jet pack fitted with Gatling guns, a project the Macreadys were working on, and kills the remaining men. Kick-Ass proceeds to take on Red Mist, and they knock each other out. Hit-Girl fights D'Amico, but she is overwhelmed and outgunned by the much larger man. As D'Amico is about to shoot Hit-Girl, Kick-Ass fires the bazooka, blasting D'Amico out of the window where he explodes in mid-air. Red Mist comes to, only to find that Kick-Ass and Hit-Girl have already fled in the jetpack.

Hit-Girl and Kick-Ass retire from crime fighting. Marcus adopts Mindy to give her a more normal life and enrolls her at Dave's school. For Dave, he, Katie, and their friends start kissing. As Dave explains a new wave of superheroes has been inspired by his exploits (explaining the hero at the film's start), Red Mist dons a new mask and swears vengeance.

Death at a Funeral 2010

Aaron (Chris Rock) is a well-mannered and hard working young man, married to Michelle (Regina Hall), and still living at his father's home. When his father dies, it is up to Aaron, the oldest son, to organize the funeral and give the eulogy. The funeral takes place in his father's home and Aaron tries to put on an appropriate expression on his face to welcome his relatives, including his famous writer brother Ryan (Martin Lawrence), and his father's friends. But preserving a civil atmosphere will be a hard thing to do, especially, when from the very start, the undertaker makes a horrifying mistake. Anna (Amy Adams) travels to Dublin, Ireland to propose to her boyfriend Jeremy (Adam Scott) on February 29, leap day, because according to Irish tradition, a woman can propose to a man on February 29 during a leap year.[3] While mid-flight to Dublin, there is a storm and the plane diverts to Cardiff, Wales. Anna hires a boat to take her to Cork, but the severity of the storm forces her to be put ashore on the Dingle Peninsula. She enlists the help of a surly Irish innkeeper, Declan (Matthew Goode), to taxi her across the country to Dublin to pull off the proposal in time, and begins to question her intentions with Jeremy when she makes a connection with Declan.

At first, Declan refuses to drive Anna to Dublin, but after his inn is threatened with foreclosure the next morning, he agrees to drive for €500. The two set out in Declan's rickety car, but they quickly run into a herd of cows. Anna shoos them away but steps in cow dung, causing her to lean against the car, which wheels back into a lake. Angry at Declan, Anna walks away from him she stops a car for a lift and after offering to take her bag they drive away with her luggage to the delight of Declan. The two eventually reach a bar where they discover the men going through Anna's luggage Declan punches them and they are both kicked out by the landlord. They eventually reach a train station by foot. While passing time waiting for the train at a nearby castle, Declan asks Anna what she would save if her apartment caught fire, and she is unable to answer. The train arrives early, and Anna misses it. The two go to a bed and breakfast, where they are forced to say that they are married so they are allowed to stay by their conservative hosts. During dinner, Anna and Declan are forced to kiss, which is then runied by Hasham wajih, the annoying "guy", which causes some confusion for them. That night, they hesitantly sleep in the same bed. The next day they take shelter from a hail storm in a church where a wedding is taking place. At the reception, Declan reveals that he was once engaged, but that his ex-fiance ran off with his best friend, and his family ring, to Dublin.

The next day they arrive, by bus, in Dublin. When Anna reached Jeremy's hotel he proposes to her, and she accepts with hesitation as Declan walks away. At their engagement party, Anna finds out that Jeremy proposed to her in an effort to impress the manager of the ritzy condominium the two were attempting to buy. Dismayed, Anna pulls the fire alarm and watches as Jeremy grabs all the electronics before fleeing. Anna goes back to the Dingle Peninsula, where Declan is successfully running his inn. She proposes that they get together to "not make plans", and Declan leaves the room. Anna interprets this as rejection, so she goes outside and stands at a cliff over the sea. Declan follows her out and proposes to her with the ring he retrieved from his ex-fiance while in Dublin. Some time after, the two are shown driving in Declan's car with a 'Just Married' sign in the back.

Windtalkers 2002

The film begins with then Corporal Joe Enders (Nicolas Cage) and a platoon of his fellow Marines fighting Japanese forces on Guadalcanal in the Solomon Islands in 1943. The outnumbered Marines are killed one by one. As Enders mourns over the body of a friend, a grenade explosion knocks Enders unconscious.

Enders is then transported to a field hospital where he is awarded the Purple Heart. By mid-1944 Enders has recovered from his physical wounds except for his hearing in one ear. Considered unfit for duty unless he can pass a hearing test, a sympathetic female pharmacist helps Enders cheat to pass. Enders is promoted to sergeant and returns to active duty. Now a grim, taciturn combat veteran who is almost deaf in one ear, Enders receives a top priority assignment protecting Navajo code talker Ben Yahzee (Adam Beach). Less jaded Sergeant Ox Anderson (Christian Slater) receives a parallel assignment protecting Navajo Charlie Whitehorse (Roger Willie). They are told that the code can not fall into enemy hands and that if the code talker is about to be captured they are to kill him to ensure the Japanese can't break the code. Also in their squad are Private Chick (Noah Emmerich), who is equipped with a BAR, the quick-to-hyperventilate Greek-American Private Pappas (Mark Ruffalo), Private Harrigan (Brian Van Holt), who is armed with a flamethrower, and Private Nellie (Martin Henderson).

The Marines land at Saipan under heavy fire from the Japanese forces. This is Yahzee and Whitehorse's first experiences in combat. Yahzee is disgusted at all the death around him and shocked at how Enders mercilessly kills Japanese troops. While Yahzee never open fires on the Japanese forces, he and Whitehorse send coded messages to direct battleship bombardment on Japanese positions.

When the beachhead is secured, the Marines advance further into Saipan. Their convoy comes under fire by American artillery. Yahzee's radio is destroyed in the initial salvo and the convoy is unable to call off the bombardment. The commander then orders them to attack the Japanese positions so as to avoid the American bombardment. During the battle Private Nellie is killed trying to save a wounded man. A plan is devised to send Yahzee, disguised as a Japanese soldier, and Enders behind Japanese lines to use their radio. The pair manages to reach the radio and Yahzee is forced into killing the radioman. He is able to redirect the artillery to fire onto the Japanese position. After the battle, Enders is awarded the Silver Star for saving the lives of his fellow marines. However, he gives the medal to Private Pappas to send to Nellie's wife back home.

The Marines then move on to a Japanese village where they make camp. Yahzee is recalled back to headquarters. The village is attacked by Japanese troops. During the fight Harrigan's flamethrower tank explodes and Enders is forced to shoot him. Anderson is decapitated defending Whitehorse who eventually gets taken by the Japanese. Enders initially hesitates but eventually throws a grenade killing Whitehorse and the Japanese soldiers.

After the Japanese forces are eliminated, Yahzee returns from headquarters and learns that Enders had to kill Whitehorse to prevent him from falling into enemy hands. In anger, Yahzee attacks Enders and attempts to shoot him but is stopped by the rest of the squad.

The squad eventually heads out to check on some Japanese guns that had been bombed by artillery earlier. The Japanese ambush them near a minefield but they are able to fight their way to the ridge. When they arrive they see that the guns are still intact and are still firing against American troops. During the ensuing battle, Gunnery Sergeant Hjelmstad (Peter Stormare) is killed by enemy fire and Enders becomes the new squad leader.

In contrast to the landing sequence Yahzee, angry over Whitehorse's death, fearlessly attacks the Japanese forces. During this time, Yahzee carelessly loses the radio which they need to call in air support to destroy the guns. Both Yahzee and Enders are shot as they attempt to retrieve the radio . Surround by the Japanese Yahzee tries to get Enders to shoot him to protect the code but Enders refuses and carries Yahzee to safety. Yahzee then calls in air support which destroys the Japanese guns, saving the American column. Yahzee then sees that Enders was shot in the chest whilst carrying him and moves to stop the blood loss. However Enders stops him and tells Yahzee with his last breaths that he didn't want to kill Whitehorse. The film ends with Yahzee back in the United States with his wife and son on top of a mesa at John Ford's Point in Monument Valley, Arizona, performing a Navajo ritual to pay his respects to Enders. As he was known as the Leader that saved his life.

But it appears the couple whose reservation they took crossed someone and the two men work for this person. The men are after something, but whatever it is they don't have it.

The film begins with a narration describing how the Olympians managed to overthrow their own creators, the Titans, through the aid of the Kraken, Hades's creation. After their fierce struggle, Zeus (Liam Neeson) became the King of the Gods, his brother, Poseidon (Danny Huston), the Lord of the Seas, and their brother, Hades (Ralph Fiennes), tricked by Zeus to rule the sickening Underworld in chaos and terror.

A coffin is then seen drifting through the sea before it is rescued by a fisherman, Spyros (Pete Postlethwaite). When Spyros opens it, he discovers the baby Perseus and his mother, Danaë, inside and raises the boy as his own. Perseus does not know who his real father and mother are, and worries that he will be neglected when his adoptive parents have a child of their own, but Spyros reassures him of his love. Years later, Perseus (Sam Worthington) and his family are fishing when they witness a group of soldiers from Argos destroying a massive statue of Zeus, effectively declaring war on the gods. Immediately following the fall of the statue, Hades rises from the ocean, killing most of the soldiers and then destroying the boat Perseus and his family are on. Perseus attempts to save his family from the sinking boat, but is unable to, and passes out on driftwood from the wreckage. The surviving soldiers find him and take him back to Argos.

When King Cepheus (Vincent Regan) and Queen Cassiopeia (Polly Walker) of Argos, at a feast for the returning soldiers, compare themselves to the gods and compare the beauty of their daughter, Andromeda (Alexa Davalos), to that of Aphrodite, Hades appears again, killing the remaining soldiers. When Perseus is unaffected by his attack, Hades realizes he is a demigod, and tells him of his true father, Zeus. Hades kills the queen, and demands that Argos further pay for its insolence and vanity; in 10 days, the Kraken will be released, and if the princess Andromeda is not sacrificed, then Argos will be destroyed. Hades then seeks out the gods on Mount Olympus and convinces Zeus to agree to his plan in order to punish mankind for their lack of love.

Initially, the Argives see Perseus as an agent of the gods and imprison him, but the king later seeks his help. A woman named Io (Gemma Arterton), who has been watching over Perseus his entire life, advises him that the only way to avenge the death of his family is to agree to the king's wishes and attempt to defeat the Kraken. He is sent out with a small group of soldiers, led by Draco (Mads Mikkelsen), along with Io to seek the Stygian Witches, while Hades visits Acrisius (Jason Flemyng), a disfigured man who was married to Danaë when Zeus impregnated her with Perseus. When Acrisius planned to kill his wife and the new born Perseus, Zeus sends down a thunderbolt from Olympus, badly scarring and disfiguring Acrisius's entire body. To help him achieve his goals, Hades imbues him with superhuman powers to enable him to kill Perseus. Acrisius attacks the Argive group, killing several, and even when his hand is severed in the fight, his blood falling on the sand causes giant scorpions to rise from the desert and continue the attack. Perseus and the Argives manage to kill the first two scorpions, but are surrounded by three more, even larger than the first. As they are about to attack, the scorpions are suddenly calmed by a group of Djinn, gentle and benevolent Sand-Demons with magical powers. There is initially mistrust between the two groups, until the chief heals Perseus of grave injuries sustained during the fight, and the two sides agree to cooperate.

Perseus and his group, via the scorpions, arrive at the barren, rocky "Garden of Stygia", the site where the Gods ended the Great War and defeated the Titans. They find the three Stygian Witches, who are hideous and share one eye. They tell Perseus, after he threatens to throw their eye off the mountain, that Medusa's head will be able to kill the Kraken, but that he will die in the process. The soldiers go to the Underworld, where Medusa lives in seclusion in a temple, and only the soldiers enter (Io cannot because she is a woman). Medusa turns all the remaining soldiers into stone, the Djinn destroys himself with his heart, weakening Medusa, and Draco, who is gravely injured by one of Medusa's arrows early in the fight, rescues a cornered Perseus by skewering Medusa with a stone pillar from the ceiling and allows himself to be turned to stone in order to give Perseus a clear shot at Medusa's head. Perseus, eyes shut, kills Medusa. As he exits the temple, Acrisius returns and stabs Io. Perseus fights him again and, this time, successfully kills him, which turns Acrisius back to human form. Io dies, telling Perseus "this is the part of the journey you do alone..."

Perseus finds Pegasus and flies back to Argos as the Kraken is being released, thus destroying the city. As a priest is about to sacrifice Andromeda, Hades appears, and has his creatures attack Perseus and steal Medusa's head. Perseus defeats the creatures and regains the head, as well as successfully turning the Kraken to stone before it consumes Andromeda. Hades appears once more and boasts that he cannot die because he is immortal; but Perseus throws his sword, charged together with Zeus's lightning at him which banishes him to the Underworld. Perseus then saves Andromeda from drowning when the apparatus used to restrain her falls into the ocean, but refuses to become king of Argos.

In the final scene, Perseus stands at the broken statue of Zeus seen at the beginning. Zeus appears and offers to make Perseus a god on Olympus; but he refuses. Zeus notes that Hades will return one day for revenge when mankind is in fear. Zeus states that if Perseus is still intent to stay on earth then he might give him a gift since he is the son of Zeus after all. A resurrected Io appears before Perseus, and the two begin to embrace while Pegasus flies above them.

Hot Tub Time Machine 2010

In 2010 Los Angeles, three good friends have had a string of bad luck with their adult lives: Adam has been dumped by yet another girlfriend and his video game obsessed nephew Jacob lives in his basement; Lou is a party guy who cannot find the party; and Nick has a dead end job and an unfaithful wife named Courtney who controls his every move.

Lou nearly kills himself in an apparent attempted suicide through carbon monoxide poisoning, although he denies that he was trying to kill himself. Adam and Nick impulsively take him and Jacob to the site of some of their most memorable weekends, the Kodiak Valley Ski Resort which, like them, has fallen upon hard times. After a crazy night of drinking in a hot tub, the guys wake up in the year 1986. The group can see each other as their proper age, but when they look at their reflections and to everyone else they appear as they did in 1986. However, Jacob, who has not even been born yet, is still there in his normal 2010 state.

They arrive during "Winterfest '86," the weekend when Poison played to a huge crowd at the then-thriving Kodiak Resort. It is also a time that was particularly hard on the group: Adam broke up with his first girlfriend, his sister, Kelly, conceived Jacob with his unknown father; Lou was beaten up by Blaine, the ski patrol bully; Nick played a less than mediocre performance with his band at an open mic contest; and Phil, the resort's bellhop, lost his arm in an unexplained tragic accident.

The quartet are at first concerned about the butterfly effect, in that if they change even the slightest thing in this time it could have drastic consequences in the future. They set out to do exactly what they did 20 years ago, but then decide that this may be a chance to change their destinies and get the futures they always wanted. However, when Jacob begins to flicker in and out, he warns the guys that this weekend might have something to do with his birth and that if they mess up he may not ever be conceived.

Adam's girlfriend, Jennie, dumps him before he can dump her, but he ends up spending the night with a music journalist, April; Lou is beaten up by Blaine but this time finds the courage to fight back with Adam and Nick giving him the motivation to stand up for himself; and Nick rocks the crowd with his band. Lou also seduces Kelly and conceives Jacob, thus solving the identity of Jacob's father.

Back at the resort, as the guys are set to go back to 2010, Lou decides to remain in 1986, admitting to Adam that he was trying to kill himself with the carbon monoxide poisoning, and that if he goes back it will happen all over again. He also says he wants to use his knowledge of future history to make investments and also do right by Kelly and Jacob.

Upon arriving back in 2010, Adam, Nick, and Jacob discover that Lou, Kelly, and Jacob are a happy family enjoying a lavish lifestyle, since Lou has shamelessly taken advantage of his knowledge of the future to become a successful rock star and Internet entrepreneur. Adam discovers that he eventually married April, and Nick is a successful music producer married to a loyal Courtney. Finally, Phil still has his arm, because after it was severed that fateful evening in 1986, the angry ski patrol team chasing Adam, Nick, Lou, and Jacob stumbled across Phil and managed to rush him and his arm to a hospital in time. The movie ends with Adam, Nick, Lou, and Jacob reuniting at Lou's mansion with their families, satisfied with their new lives.

The Hurt Locker

The title is a colloquialism for being injured in an explosion, as in "they sent him to the hurt locker".[2] It dates back to the Vietnam War, where it was one of several phrases meaning "in trouble or at a disadvantage; in bad shape."[3]

The Hurt Locker opens with a quotation from War Is a Force That Gives Us Meaning, a best-selling 2002 book by New York Times war correspondent and journalist Chris Hedges: "The rush of battle is a potent and often lethal addiction, for war is a drug."[4][5]

During the early stages of the post-invasion period in Iraq in 2004,[6][7] Sergeant First Class William James, a battle-tested veteran, becomes the team leader of a U.S. Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit, replacing Staff Sergeant Thompson, who was killed by a radio-controlled 155 mm improvised explosive device (IED) in Baghdad. He joins Sergeant J.T. Sanborn and Specialist Owen Eldridge, whose jobs are to communicate with their team leader via radio inside his bombsuit, and provide him with rifle cover while he examines IEDs. During their missions of disarming IEDs and engaging insurgents together, James's unorthodox methods lead Sanborn and Eldridge to consider him reckless. Tensions mount between James and the other two team members. During a raid on a warehouse, James discovers the dead body of a young boy who has been surgically implanted with an unexploded bomb. James believes it to be "Beckham", a young Iraqi merchant he had previously befriended.

Later, James orders his team to pursue three insurgents responsible for a recent explosion. Sanborn protests that the task should be left to an infantry platoon, but James overrules him. During the operation, Eldridge is accidentally shot in the leg. The next morning, James is approached by Beckham. The young boy tries to converse with James, who walks by without saying a word. Being airlifted for surgery, Eldridge angrily blames James for his injury.

After failing in a mission to remove and disarm a time-bomb strapped to an Iraqi civilian's chest, Sanborn becomes emotional and confesses to James that he can no longer cope with the pressure of being in EOD, and he looks forward to finally leaving Iraq and starting a family. James returns home to his wife and child and is shown quietly performing the routine tasks of suburban civilian life. One night James confesses to his infant son that there is only one thing that he knows he loves. He is next seen back in Iraq, ready to serve another 365 days as an EOD team member with another company.

Crazy On The Outside 2010

In 2025, a corporation called The Union has perfected the creation of artificial organs, which have replaced organ transplants. A potential customer can apply for an organ, which are sold on credit, usually with a large interest rate attached. If the customer is unable to maintain payments after three months, a repo-man is sent to the customer to reclaim their property. The process of the repossession is brutal, and often results in the death of the customer.

Remy is one of the Union's top repo-men, who partners with his childhood friend, Jake, in Toronto, to collect past due accounts. Remy is highly regarded within The Union as their top performer, though his occupation causes problems with his wife, who sees it as unsavory. After she leaves Remy when Jake commits a repossession in front of their home, Remy decides to transfer to a sales job, much to Jake's chagrin.

As his final repossession job, Remy is sent to the residence of a music producer, whose work he happens to admire. After allowing the man enough time to complete a song, Remy prepares to repossess his heart. When he attempts to use a heart defibrillator to stop the unit, the defibrillator malfunctions, sending a large electrical shock through his body and knocking him into a coma. When Remy awakens from his coma, he is informed by Jake and Frank, the Union's CFO, that the shock severely damaged his heart. He can be fitted with a artifical heart, or die. After Remy attempts to flee the hospital, he reluctantly agrees to the procedure.

Remy goes back to work, but is unable to perform his job, due to the fact that he is just like the people he is repossessing from. He attempts to transition into sales, but quickly finds himself behind in payments. Jake takes Remy to the outskirts of Toronto to a nest, which is a collection of people who have past due accounts with the Union, but are fleeing to avoid being repossessed. Remy is again unable to perform a repossession, after which he is abandoned by Jake until he can perform his job. Remy is attacked by a pair of men whom he attempted to repossess, and blacks out.

Remy, upon awakening, encounters Beth, whom he had met earlier in a bar where she was singing. He discovers that she has multiple organs that she is past due on, and is currently suffering from a drug addiction. Remy takes her to a motel room, where he stays with her as she goes through withdrawal. After a failed attempt to clear her account back at the Union's headquarters, Remy destroys all evidence of his life and Beth's before the two leave to live in the outskirts.

The pair live in relative harmony. Remy uses an old typewriter that Beth had given him to type up a narrative of his life, and subsequent conversion. As he finishes, a repo-man arrives to repossess his heart. After a brief struggle, Remy uses the typewriter to save himself and Beth. Using the repo-man's vehicle, Remy sneaks back into his former workplace to obtain a pair of devices that fool organ scanners used by repo-men. He attempts to force Frank to clear his account, only to discover that due to his prior attempt, all accounts can only be cleared back at the Union's central office.

Remy and Beth attempt to flee the country at the airport, but are taken by security when it is discovered that Beth's prostetic knee was damaged due to their earlier fight with the repo-man. Once inside, they are forced to fight against airport security and another pair of repo-men. Remy is able to kill or incapacitate all of them, and while escaping, comes face to face with Jake, who has now been assigned Remy's account. The pair head to a black market doctor, where Beth's knee is replaced. After the procedure, the two are stopped by Jake, who has tracked the pair. A bitter fight ensues, during which it is revealed that it was Jake that rigged the defibulator unit to fail, causing Remy's heart replacement. The two fight, but Jake gains the upper hand, and knocks Remy unconcious by hitting him in the head with a large chain.

Remy awakens, and is hurried to a safe house by Beth, due to a raid by the Union's repo-men. The two survive the night, but Remy is overcome with remorse after finding the corpses of the victims of the Union. He resolves to destroy the corporation and clear the accounts of Beth and himself. After passing his story to his son during a brief meeting on a train, the pair travel to The Union's headquarters, hoping to remove themselves from the system. Remy and Beth are pursued throughout the building, and after an intense battle, arrive at the Pink Door, the main database for the Union. Using Beth's prostetic eye, they are able to seal themselves inside just as Jake and Frank arrive. Once inside, they discover that the server does not have any interface, except for a scanner. Remy realizes that the only way to remove himself from the system is to repo himself. Remy and Beth cut themselves open in order to use the scanner internally, clearing their accounts.

Jake and Frank are able to enter through the use of a organ, seeing Remy trying desperately to resuscitate Beth, who has stopped breathing during the process. Jake asks Remy if she was worth all the hardship and pain that he has put himself through, which he confirms. Frank pulls a gun to kill Remy, but Jake turns on his employer, killing him with a knife. Jake then assists Remy in reviving Beth, after which he deposits two explosives inside the organ retreival union. The explosion destroys the Union's mainframe, wiping everyone who has an account with the corporation out of the system.

Later, Remy is on a tropical beach, enjoying his freedom with Beth and Jake. His text from earlier in the film has been published into a book, The Repossession Mambo. Remy turns to look at Jake, but sees instead the background flickering and inconherent voices. It is discovered that Remy, in fact, sustained severe brain damage when Jake hit him with the heavy chain earlier in the film. Jake, out of remorse, has paid off Remy's account and has had him placed in a neural network, allowing him to live the rest of his life in a lucid dream. This renders the second half of the film as simply a fantasy of Remy's. Jake finds Remy's manuscript, which he greets with a bitter chuckle, as his former partner is wheeled away, presumably to spend the rest of his life in his fantasy world. The film ends with Frank delivering his sales pitch.
