Veteran Artists Nominated in 50 Categories At Grammys

Nominations for the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards were announced on Wednesday Night during and after a live concert special on CBS. Beyonce took the most nominations with ten followed by Taylor Swift with eight and the Black Eyed Peas, Maxwell and Kanye West with six.

Of the veteran artists nominated, Bruce Springsteen led the way with four nominations. Overall, veterans were nominated in fifty categories from recordings to production to video.

Neil Portnow, President and CEO of the Recording Academy, said "The nominations this year truly reflect the talented community of music makers who represent some of the highest levels of excellence in their respective fields. Once again, the GRAMMY Awards process has yielded a well-rounded and diverse group of impressive nominees across multiple genres. Coupled with the second year of our primetime nominations special, which featured stellar performances by past GRAMMY winners and nominees, the road to Music's Biggest Night and the 52nd Annual GRAMMY Awards in January is off to an exciting start."

The awards will be presented on Sunday, January 31 from the Staples Center in Los Angeles

The following are the nominees in the top four categories plus all others where a veteran artist received a nomination. Jazz, Gospel, Latin and Classical categories are only listed when a nominated veteran artist has crossed over to a mainstream chart at some time in their career. Veteran artists are shown in bold.

Songwriter/Singer Eric Woolfson of the Alan Parsons Project Passes Away

Eric Woolfson, the man who wrote many of the hits of the Alan Parsons Project along with singing lead on many tracks, passed away on Tuesday night in London. He had been battling cancer.

The announcement came on Woolfson's Facebook profile:

We are very sad to have to tell you that Eric Woolfson passed away in the early hours of this morning after a long and brave battle with cancer. He very much enjoyed seeing all your kind comments and posts on this Facebook page and his family wanted to thank you for your appreciation of his work.

Woolfson was born in Scotland and grew up in Glasgow where he started composing in his early teens. At 18, he moved to London where he became a session pianist and wrote songs for artists like Marianne Faithfull, Peter Noone, the Tremeloes and Marmalade.

Eric started working with the an early incarnation of 10cc (Eric Stewart, Kevin Godley, Lol Creme and Graham Gouldman) in 1971, producing early group and solo records. He also became more active in the management side of the music business, signing both Carl Douglas (Kung Fu Fighting) and Alan Parsons.

By the middle of the decade, Woolfson and Parsons joined forces in the Alan Parsons Project. Parsons already had experience producing albums for Paul McCartney and Pink Floyd (he produced Dark Side of the Moon) and partnered with Woolfson for his singing and songwriting prowess. The two made ten albums between 1976 and 1987 and, while a number of vocalists were used over the years, it is Woolfson's voice that can be heard on such hits as Time and Eye in the Sky.

After parting ways with Parsons, Woolfson moved into writing for the theater. His first show, Freudiana, was originally meant to be a Project album but ended up being transitioned to the stage, opening in Vienna in 1990. He returned often to musical biographies, also writing shows about Spanish architect Antonio Gaudi (1995's Gaudi) and Edgar Alan Poe (2003's Poe: More Tales of Mystery and Imagination). Other shows included Gambler (1996) and Dancing in the Shadows (2007).

Woolfson recently released a compilation of unused tracks from throughout his career as The Alan Parson's Project That Never Was.

Abbaworld Touring Exhibition to Open in London

When the building of the Abba museum hit a rough patch and was delayed, the former members of the group and their management decided to send the show on the road. Abbaworld will make its world premier on January 27 at London's Earls Court and will stay for an unannounced amount of time.

The exhibition features twenty-five rooms of memorabilia, films and music from one of the biggest acts ever in the world, much donated by the original members. The real treat for fans, though, comes with twenty-five interactive exhibits where they can get onstage with 3D holograms of the group, record or mix their music and much more. All of the creations made by attendees can then be accessed on-line when they get home via a special code on their ticket.

Member Frida Lyngstad spoke for the group, saying that they were all "delighted to be part of Abbaworld and to have the opportunity to share our amazing experiences with our fans.

"The interactive elements mean this is the first time we can actually take them on the journey with us. London has a special place in all our hearts and we are looking forward to the world premiere of Abbaworld in January,"

Ticket go on sale Thursday for the first weeks of the exhibition. Additional cities on the tour have not been announced. To stay up-to-date on the Abbaworld experience, visit their website.

Anvil! The Story of Anvil won the Best Music Documentary award given by the World Documentary Association. It will compete this coming Friday for the Top Features Prize at the association's convention.

Rodney Crowell, Chip Taylor, Raul Malo and Buddy Miller have been elected to the Americana Music Association's Board of Directors.

Bob Keane, the founder of Del-Fi Records, passed away last Saturday from renal failure at the age of 87.

Keane started Keen Records in 1955 which had a number one hit in 1957 with Sam Cooke's You Send Me. Unfortunately, because of some shady business practices, he never saw any of the profits and lost the company.

In 1958 Keane started Del-Fi Records and, soon after, signed Ritchie Valens who brought the label to national prominence with Come On Let's Go, Donna and LaBamba. Others who recorded for Del-Fi included the Addrisi Brothers, Little Caesar and the Romans, Johnny Crawford and the Syndicate of Sound. Keane also spun off two subsidiaries, Donna Records whose roster included Ron Holden, Brenda Holloway, Preston Epps and the Rocky Fellers, and Mustang Records with the Bobby Fuller Four.

Barry Manilow Signs For New Two-Year Las Vegas Stint

Barry Manilow has singned with AEG Live and Paris Las Vegas for two years worth of shows at the Paris Theatre. Starting March 5, 2010, the singer will perform 78 shows each year of the agreement. The new show and location replaces his current run at the Hilton which ends on December 30.

Manilow's new show will be directed by Jeffrey Hornaday and will be again based around his hits; however, they will be cast in a new light while keeping the romantic aspects intact.

The singer said in a press release, "The audience in Vegas is always energized and electric, so I know that the Paris Las Vegas is going to be a special run. I'm planning something new for this performance; definitely not to be missed."

John Meglan, CEO and President of AEG Live/Concerts West, said "Barry Manilow is an icon to generations of adoring fans. AEG Live is privileged to be working with him to bring this new and exciting musical production to the stage in Las Vegas."

Marilyn Winn, the President of the venue, added "At Paris Las Vegas, romance blends with excitement and energy, so it's only fitting that Barry Manilow reignite our entertainment offerings. We invite all of our guests to spend a dynamic evening with Barry Manilow at Paris Las Vegas."

Benefiting from Manilow's new show will be middle and high school students from the Las Vegas area. Special Platinum Experience tickets will be sold for one show each week that comes with front row seats, a champagne reception and meet-and-greet before the show and an autographed program. Proceeds from the Platinum Experience sales will purchase instruments for Las Vegas area public schools.

McCartney's London O2 Arena Show Sells Out in Two Seconds, Tom Petty Talks Abuse, more

All of the tickets for Paul McCartney's December 22 show at London's O2 Arena were sold out in four seconds.

McCartney was surprised by the fast sales, telling BBC6 "I was doing an interview with some guy and he said, 'I heard you sold out in four seconds'. I said, 'No. That’s four minutes, are you kidding?'"

He added that it is still comforting to know that people want to still see him. "I think, 'I love playing to them, and they’re going to actually like hearing me, so what can I do so that we can have fun?' It’s more of a mutual motivation now."

Tom Petty has spoken with Rolling Stone about abuse inflicted on him by his father.

"He was scary and violent. He beat the living hell out of me, and there was constant verbal abuse.

"Looking back on it, he probably was disappointed that I was so drawn to the arts. He probably thought I was gay. I wasn't interested in sports. I didn't know the names of any baseball players. I liked films and books and records.

"He liked to fish and hunt. He'd drag me on these trips, and it was a nightmare. Shooting something repelled me."

The Flaming Lips will perform their cover of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon during their New Year's Eve Freakout at the Cox Center in Oklahoma City. The studio version of their cover is expected to be released next year, possibly as an iTunes only download.

Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck have added three North American shows to their very short itinerary, giving fans hope that a full tour may be announced. The new dates are February 18 (New York), February 21 (Toronto) and February 22 (Montreal).

Dean Martin's ex-wife, Jeanne Martin, is suing Dean's estate for money she says she is owed from the royalties on Martin's music and other enterprises. According to the suit, she is owed at least $130,000 in royalties dating back to 2003.

Buffy Sainte-Marie was honored Friday night at the 11th Annual Canadian Aboriginal Awards, receiving awards for Female Artist, Songwriter, Album (Running for the Drum) and Single (No No Keshagesh).

Paul Rodgers received an Honorary Doctorate of Letters from Teesside University in his hometown of Middlesbourough, England.

In accepting the degree, Rodgers said "Having spent the day amongst the welcoming people of this high achieving University I am inspired and elated. This doctorate means a lot to me, I am surprised, humbled and honoured indeed."

Along with his solo career, Rodgers has also been a member of Free, Bad Company, the Firm and Queen.

Among the presenters at Wednesday night's The Grammy Nominations Concert Live are Ringo Starr and Smokey Robinson. LL Cool J is hosting.

Allman Brothers Museum Opens

"The Big House" in Macon, Georgia, where members of the Allman Brothers lived and wrote many of their songs in the early-70's, has been turned into the Allman Brothers museum after five years of fundraising and two years of renovations. The soft opening was held this past weekend with a grand opening set for early next year.

The museum was the idea of Kirk West, the band's road manager, who had lived in the house with his wife Kirsten until 2003. At that time, they looked into selling the building but a possible buyer suggested that it would be the perfect place for a museum honoring the group.

In the early 70's, the home was occupied by bassist Barry Oakley and his wife Linda along with Duane Allman and his family. The rest of the band regularly hung out there where they wrote and played music.

In an article on macon.com, the museum co-curator E.J. Devokaitis pointed to a living room window and said “That’s where Dickey Betts wrote Blue Sky. The line in the song, ‘Good old Sunday morning, bells are ringing everywhere,’ that was from that church across the street. It’s still there.”

Included in the museum hundreds of pieces of memorabilia, including posters, gold records, awards, photos and instruments from the various members. Linda Oakley is redecorating Duane's bedroom to return it to its original look. There is also an area for memorabilia from Govt. Mule who also has roots in the house.

The museum is at 2321 Vineville Avenue in Macon and will be open weekends until the grand opening when it will take on a more regular schedule.

Our weekly recap of veteran artists on the current British music charts. Chart highlights:

As with the Australian charts yesterday, new artist Susan Boyle is the big story as her I Dreamed a Dream has the biggest first week sales ever by a debut album. 410,000 copies of the album were sold, also making it the fastest selling album of 2009 to date and fourth all-time for any artist (i.e., including non-debut albums) behind Oasis, Coldplay and Take That.
Of course, there are also 28 albums by veteran artists in the top 100 in Britain, led by Queen's Absolute Greatest which drops from 3 to 4. Rod Stewart's Soulbook holds fast at 14 while Michael Jackson's This is It move up from 19 to 15.
The highest debut of the week by a veteran goes to Janet Jackson with The Best premiering at 28. Two steps lower at 30 is UB40's The Best of Labour of Love and another two steps down at 32 is The Very Best of Enya. Also debuting further down the list is Tom Waits' Glitter and Doom Live (76) and The Best of Bryan Ferry (95).

David Bowie’s 1967 debut album for Decca finally receives the Deluxe Edition treatment. Disc One features the original stereo and mono mixes of the album stunningly remastered by Peter Mew and Tris Penna at Abbey Road Studios . This is the first time that the mono mix has been available in any format since the late ’60s and is obviously the first time on CD. Disc Two features the singles, unreleased stereo mixes, the legendary unreleased single London Bye Ta-Ta and 5 Previously Unreleased tracks recorded for John Peel’s Top Gear programme in 1967. All in all, there are a total of 26 tracks appearing on CD for the very first time. Comes with sleeve notes by Tris Penna and Kevin Cann.

This Is It Gets DVD Release Date, Vinny Appice to Undergo Surgery, more

Sony Pictures has announced a January 26 release date for the DVD version of Michael Jackson's This is It. The date was moved back to give theaters additional time to show the film and to tie it in with the Grammy Awards.

The DVD version will have an hour of extra footage while the Blu-Ray will have 1-1/2 hours extra along with a Smooth Criminal film that was to show prior to Jackson's performances and a making of for the short film. Both will have two making-of pieces on the full film and shorts on costumes, dancer auditions and Jackson himself.

Marc Rashba, VP of marketing for Sony, said "We're thrilled with the date that we ended up with, where it's at an opportune time in the market. The Grammys follow right after the release date (on Jan. 31). There will be a lot of Grammy areas in stores, and we can play into that."

It's not a good time right now for members of Heaven and Hell. Ronnie James Dio announced last week that he has stomach cancer and we have no learned that drummer Vinny Appice will undergo surgery on his right shoulder on Monday. The shoulder was injured during the band's last tour. His doctor's expect him to be back at the drums in about five months.

On a brighter side, the group's guitarist, Tony Iommi has gotten back together with former Black Sabbath bandmate Ian Gillian to write a new song. The two had been on the outs since 1984 when Gillian left Sabbath to return to Deep Purple. The pair are also talking about starting a charity band with a few other musicians.

London's Mail Online recently published a story saying that David Bowie had been asked to play at next summer's Glastonbury festival. A posting on davidbowie.com set the record straight.

Rumours and lies and stories they made up...Part 386

The Mail Online has posted a piece suggesting that David Bowie is "considering an offer" to appear at next year's 40th anniversary Glastonbury Festival.

Sadly, there is absolutely no substance to this story.

The movie Nowhere Boy is covering the teenage years of John Lennon, so now it's time to move forward a bit in his life with the BBC drama Lennon Naked. The film, scheduled for a 2010 airing, starts in 1967 with the death of Brian Epstein and goes up to 1971 and the release of the Imagine album.

Christopher Eccleston, who previously played Dr. Who and has appeared on Heros, will play Lennon. Naoko Mori, who was in the same series of Dr. Who, will play Yoko Ono.

Our weekly recap of veteran artists on the current Australian music charts. Chart highlights:

Beyond the obvious big story in music, Susan Boyle's sweeping of the album charts around the world, there is very little new in Australia. Most albums slipped just slightly from last week with Them Crooked Vultures holding on to the top charting album by a veteran artist even though they fell 4 to 11.
The only new album on the Albums chart is The Best of Enya, not out in the states until this Tuesday, which premiers at 40.
On the R&B Albums, Janet Jackson debuts at 19 with The Best which is the international version of Number Ones.

Best of the Decade: Popdose Top 100 Albums and Songs

Popdose, the website that covers most forms of popular media, has come out with their Top 100 albums and singles of the decade, providing the first published lists that acknowledge all eras of artists, modern and veteran.

On the album side, the editors give the top two spots to Green Day and Wilco but it's the third place LP (Raising Sand) that sets them apart from other sites. This widely acclaimed album had not shown up on any other list of the best of the decade, nor had Bruce Springsteen's The Rising which is at number 7. Overall, they acknowledge 23 albums by veterans, far more than anyone else has to date.

The same goes for the songs. While you have to get to number 6 before a track by a veteran appears (Johnny Cash's Hurt), a total of 14 songs by veterans are listed including a few that are a bit of a surprise by Prince, Paul McCartney and Joe Strummer.

Lita Ford may not have wanted anything to do with the upcoming Runaways biopic Cherry Bomb, but that isn't stopping her from trying to do a bit of promotional tie-in. She's shopping a reality show around on her hectic family life while keeping up on her touring and career. It actually sounds like the Osbournes Part II.

"My eight year old is in the top bunk and he's got Elmo on his hand and he's peeking over the door with Elmo but the language that is coming out of Elmo's mouth is not appropriate for children that are eight years old.

"Rocko is in the top bunk, and he's eight years old, and he's got Elmo and he is going, 'Hey, you a**holes! Hey I'm up here,' and he's sneaking over the door. So I'm thinking to myself, 'Reality show.' This is really f**king funny."

Elizabeth Fraser, formerly of the Cocteau Twins, is about to release a new single. Moses is being released as a tribute to her friend Jake Drake-Brockman of Echo and the Bunnymen who died in a motorcycle accident in September. Drake-Brockman recorded the track with Fraser prior to his accident.

Marie Osmond has told Fox News that she was approached to star in the film version of Grease before eventual lead Olivia Newton-John but didn't want to play a part where she had to go bad.

"The script came to me, and (it) was much edgier then what Olivia came up with, but I was at a place in my life where I wanted to have children and I didn't like the fact that the girl had to turn bad to get the guy. I think the guy has to work hard to get the girl, that's what I believe."

Al Alberts, one of the founding members of the Four Aces and, later, a Philadelphia TV show host, passed away on Friday at the age of 87. Alberts was not only in the original lineup but, when they couldn't get a label to release their first record, (It's No) Sin, he started his own company. The release got the attention of Decca who signed the group that went on to release hits like Tell Me Why, Three Coins in the Fountain, Love is a Many Splendored Thing and Melody of Love.

Chart Watch America: November 27, 2009

Our weekly recap of veteran artists on the current American music charts. Chart highlights:

It is the week of upheaval on the Album chart as the LPs that have been previously relegated to the Catalog Album chart get reintroduced. Still, when all was said and done, Michael Jackson returns as the highest charting veteran artist with This is It settling in at number 7.
Last week's chart topper, The Circle by Bon Jovi, takes a major drop down to number 19, going from 163,000 copies in week one to 50,000 last week. That drop from number one is the third biggest in chart history with only albums by Incubus and Marilyn Manson falling farther.
The top debut by a veteran artist easily goes to Them Crooked Vultures (John Paul Jones, Dave Grohl & Joshua Homme) who start at number 12 on the Album, 4 on the Rock Album and 1 on the Hard Rock Album charts. That's the highest John Paul Jones has been on an original studio album since 1979's In Through the Out Door by Led Zeppelin (we aren't counting Coda which was a compilation of oddities from Zeppelin's career).
Premiering at number 16 on the Album and 5 on the Rock Album charts is the new live set from Paul McCartney, Good Evening New York City. His last live album, 2002's Back in the U.S., debuted at 8.
Janet Jackson's Number Ones starts out at 22 on the Album and 3 on the R&B Album charts. That's better than the peak of her last hits collection, 1995's Design of a Decade, on the R&B chart where it went to number 4, but much worse than the Album chart peak which was number 3.
The other veteran artists debuting this week are Motley Crue with a new Greatest Hits (Albums #94/Hard Rock Albums #10) and Barry Manilow's In the Swing For Christmas (Albums #142).
The real story is the 22 albums that return to the charts after the change in Billboard's charting rules. Previous to this week, albums that had been out at least 18 months, had dropped below number 100 and had no charting single were removed from the regular Album chart and put on the Catalog Album chart. This became a problem last summer when Michael Jackson albums were outselling all new product but were not showing up on the regular Album chart. Everything is now integrated into one comprehensive chart that reflects all U.S. album sales.
We are going to stop coverage of the Catalog Album chart, which would be redundant, and have added two new charts. The first, Top 40 Radio Airplay, reflects the changes that are going through not only the radio industry but also the general tastes of U.S. listeners. Country is making inroads everywhere and it's reflected in this weeks airplay chart where Reba McEntire's Consider Me Gone places at 27. The record is not only getting country airplay but is also crossing over into some adult contemporary formats.
The second new chart is the Folk Music Albums which gives the music of some fine veterans and new acoustic artists some exposure in their specific sub-genre.

Who Officially Playing Super Bowl Halftime, Wood's Girlfriend Leaks Stones Tour, more

It's now official. The Who will be playing the Bridgestone Super Bowl XLIV Halftime Show on February 7. While already internationally known, the exposure from the appearance is staggering as the game is shown in 230 countries and territories. Last year's show by Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band was viewed by an estimated TV audience of 151 million.

Could Ronnie Wood's 20-year-old girlfriend be letting the cat out of the bag on a 2010 tour by the Rolling Stones? Britain's Sun says that Ekaterina Ivanova has been saying more than she should. "She's not supposed to talk about it, things haven't been finalized but she couldn't resist telling a few friends."

Wood has also told the British papers that he has been in contact with Mick Jagger and Charlie Watts which could also be an indication of an impending road trip.

Motley Crue is taking 2010 off to work on individual projects. Lead Vince Neil told Fox News, "I go out and do my solo record and tour (and) I’ve got a book coming out. 2010 is my year. I’m writing about all the stuff you don’t know about.”

Annie Lennox say we shouldn't be looking for a Eurythmics reunion. "I'm not really keen on comebacks. Eurythmics was an incredible thing. When I look back on that work, I feel very satisfied by it but I'm not in that headspace now. I'm 54, I have teenagers. What's always been important to me is not struggling to keep going round the same groove. I want to go forwards, and I want to take risks."

AC/DC took home the Best Rock Album and Highest Selling Album at Australia's ARIA Awards for Black Ice.

This new compilation of Bryan Ferry's solo career contains 19 singles and two previously unreleased tracks. The first of the new tracks, I Don't Want to Go On Without You, is a cover of a song originally recorded by the Drifters and released as the B-Side of Under the Boardwalk. Ferry says on his website that he has been working on this track for a number of years with a wide group of musicians, producers and engineers. The second new track is an alternate version of A Fool For Love, the third time he has interpreted the song.

A deluxe version is also available with a DVD of all of Ferry's promo videos and a number of live performances. Be aware that the DVD is in the European PAL format.

Lists: Music Radar's Top 50 Guitar Riffs of All Time

Music Radar, who bills themselves as the number one website for musicians, asked their readers to name their favorite guitar riffs of all-time. The compiled list shows a pretty astute readership. The classics are well represented with no wasted listings just because it's the "latest flavor." It says a lot about the readership of the site, who are obviously musicians who know their music.

Topping the list is the Jimi Hendrix classic Voodoo Child, one of three riffs he has on the list, but he isn't the reader's favorite. That would go to Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin with a total of five out of the top 50 and not one of them is Stairway to Heaven. Veteran artists also scoring multiple riffs are John Lennon with the Beatles (4), Angus Young of AC/DC (3), James Hettfield of Metallica (2), Keith Richard of the Rolling Stones (2), Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath (2), Eric Clapton (2) with Derek & the Dominoes and Cream and Eddie Van Halen (2) with Van Halen and Michael Jackson.

Our weekly recap of veteran artists on the current Canadian music charts. Chart highlights:

Them Crooked Vultures (John Paul Jones, Dave Grohl & Joshua Homme) debut at number 5 on the Canadian Album and number 1 on the Hard Rock Album charts.
Also scoring well are hard rockers Motley Crue with their latest Greatest Hits collection, premiering at 39 on the Album and 3 on the Hard Rock Album charts.
Other veteran acts debuting this week include Paul McCartney with his live album, Good Evening New York City, at 23 and Janet Jackson's Number Ones at 43 on the Album and 5 on the R&B Album charts. Britain Wants ABBA to Reform, Monkees Have Half Reunion, more

PRS for Music, the British performance rights organization, polled 1,500 people to find out what act they would like to see reform. 25% of the respondents said they would like to see ABBA followed by the Police (13%), Pink Floyd and the Smiths (11%), Oasis (10%), the Jam (9%), Dire Straits (8%), the Clash (6%), the Spice Girls (4%) and the Sex Pistols (3%).

Peter Tork of the Monkees performed at the Boston Super MegaFest this past weekend and brought a special guest on stage to end his set, Mickey Dolenz. Tork had already run through a number of Monkees hits, so the pair talked about meeting the Beatles before playing Oh, Darling and closing with Chuck Berry's Johnny B. Goode.

Also in attendance at the festival was Terry Sylvester of the Hollies.

Elvis Costello has announced that the second season of Sundance Channel show, Spectacle, will be the last. "I wasn't looking for a career in TV. It's something I did as a side project from my real career."

Artists working with Bryan Ferry on his next album include Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Johnny Greenwood from Radiohead, and Nile Rodgers from Chic.

BBC6 News Twittered earlier today that Martin Gore of Depeche Mode has been summoned by a U.S. court to testify as an expert witness on being "sad and lonely" in the trial of a man suing the makers of World of Warcraft.

The next CMT Crossroads will be Jimmy Buffett with newcomers the Zac Brown Band. For those who know Buffett's music and the current Zac Brown hit, Toes, this seems like a perfect pairing. The show will be shot in December for an March airing.

Richie Sambora of Bon Jovi has had a street named after him in his hometown of Woodbridge, New Jersey. Richie Sambora Way was dedicated on Tuesday with the guitarist in attendance.

REEL Good Productions, LLC has acquired the rights to the book My Name is Love: The Darlene Love Story with eyes towards making it their first independent film production. REEL founder Karen Braithwaite said "REEL Good Productions is thrilled to be working with Ms. Love on this, our first independent film project. Her story and its historic significance culturally and musically, should be shared with a wider audience. It is particularly thrilling in light of the fact that she is being recognized this year as a 2010 nominee to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame."
