NEET PG Supreme Court Case : Latest Update

Even when it's very difficult!

The never-ending MCI vs Others case was listed yesterday in the causelist as Item No. 9

Since the last three dates, our case has not even been taken up for hearing.

It is very frustrating but beyond a point we can only depend on hope.

Cases go on for years and years.At least in our case we're getting frequent hearing(except the last three days).

I would suggest all readers to keep their cool and hope for the best.

As they say, "hope for the best but be prepared for the worst". So just to keep your mind off this, start preparing for AIIMS and PGI.

That is just my take on it.

Anyway, enough of gyan. The next probable date of hearing is 19th of March.I guess we should get a good hearing.

With the deadline for PG Admissions being May 31st, I think something will come out before that.

The bench was to sit only upto 1 pm

Yesterday the NEET PG Case was not taken up due to the hearing of the supplemental cause list

Today, it is listed as Item No. 12 in the Chief Justice's Court.

Still, if today they don't start with the supplemental list there are chances that it will be taken up as 6-7 cases are fresh matters.They will end very soon.

The bench will most probably sit till 4 pm so let's keep our fingers crossed.

The lawyer representing linguistic minority colleges and somes other colleges of Karnataka(Mr. KKV) will continue with his arguments today as well.

It is only after that that the MCI lawyers will get a chance (hopefully).

However,the Bench will sit upto 2:55 pm only.So, chances are slim.A lot depends on how long the other 3 cases take!

According to the final Causelist dated 28.02.2013, the MCI vs Others case is listed as Item No. 3 in the Chief Justice's Court.

Nothing is impossible!

The last hearing was on 27.02.2013 wherein Mr. Rajeev Dhawan(representing the unaided minority institutions) had continued with his arguments.He will continue today as well.

After Mr. Dhawan is done, The lawyers representing Tamil Nadu will present their arguments.It is only after they finish that the MCI Lawyers Mr. Amit Kumar & Nilesh Gupta shall start their arguments

Don't wanna dishearten you guys but until and unless we have a hearing on almost a daily basis, the verdict looks very unlikely anytime soon.

Having said that, somehow there is this feeling of undying hope, may be because the Chief Justice Of India is looking into this matter.Who is more supreme than him when it comes to Justice.

So let's hope he does justice to Justice!

Hello Everyone!

Will it be saved or will it perish?

I have come across many information across the web over the past few days regarding the NEET PG Supreme Court Verdict.And all of it claims to be from "reliable sources".

I would suggest you people not to pay too much attention to the unconfirmed news from the so-called reliable sources for your own good.It is just going to affect your psyche and leave you disappointed.

Let me give you some examples of the "rays of hope" that were quashed every single time our case was taken up for hearing(sometimes even not taken up!)

(1)Leading News Channel CNN IBN had reported that a Verdict was likely on 12.02.2013.It said,

" The Supreme Court is likely to decide on Tuesday(12/2/2013) whether state governments and private universities can conduct separate entrance exams for admissions in medical courses. State governments and private universities had objected to a Medical Council of India (MCI) decision for a common entrance test. The results of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) will be declared based on Tuesday’s decision."

What really happened on 12/02: Case was postponed to 13th!(and then to 14th)

(2)Another very widespread rumour was that the NEET Case Verdict is coming on the 15.02.2013. (Some forums also went on to say that NEET was 99% sure)

What really happened on 15/02: NOTHING!! Yes, nothing happened...The case wasn't even listed for that day

(3)The same forum on 20.02.2013 posted that "There will be no NEET this time"

Yet again, "unconfirmed news from sources"

The latest to join this lot is that the Verdict is going to come out tomorrow

Now, I do not understand Marathi so I would give the benefit of the doubt to the paper as in it can be just an article about the ongoing case.

But NEET Verdict is next to impossible tomorrow.Let me tell you WHY?

»The NEET PG Case has been listed in the final causelist for Feb. 26,2013 as Item No. 6 in the Chief Justice's Court.There have been two occasions when the case was not even taken up for hearing.It can happen tomorrow also!(Please don't think this is negative thinking.I'm just being realistic)

»The lawyer representing the minority institutions(Mr. Rajeev Dhawan) will continue with his arguments.He probably needs half a day to complete his arguments

»After that the MCI lawyers will defend NEET.(It cannot be done in less than a day minimum<comon sense>.So, again no chance of a likely verdict tomorrow)

Anyway, I just want to emphasize that on the fact that we are medicos.We are known for our application of mind.We should not be misled so easily by some irresponsible comments from some people who do not understand what all this means to us and are just doing it for the heck of it.

We cannot stop people from spreading rumours but what we can stop is getting carried away by such wrong information.

Please keep your cool.Each one of us is frustrated to see ourselves in such a state.

I would keep you guys posted about the live updates from the Supreme Court hearing on the 26th but at this point in time all we can do is Hope.

Hello everyone!

How do I look now? :P

Have been trying to get a makeover for the blog so that it's more user friendly and easily accessible!

Being technically handicapped beyond the basic knowledge(read Javascript/css),it has taken longer than usual to incorporate some features.

Anyway, after much struggle,have come up with this look for now.

Hope to continue bringing new information and discussions from various entrance exams and also the much discussed "NEET PG Supreme Court Verdict"

The Bench will sit upto 2:55 pm. The final verdict is very unlikely but the case will be taken up for hearing in all likelihood.

Today, almost every Medical and Dental Student is more worried about the NEET Verdict than anything else.I know it is traumatic to be living in this kind of uncertainty when our whole future depends on this.

I will keep you updated about the proceedings of the MCI vs Others case.

Well, as of now today our case is listed in court no. 1 as item no. 8.

At 2:16 pm: Item No. 2 in hearing(item no. 1-6 done...so we are 2nd in line after this)
At 3:16 pm: An hour later, Still item no. 2 in hearing

Very unlikely that anything significant will happen today.

In all likelihood we are headed for yet another "tareekh"

The case was not taken up for hearing...It is listed for tomorrow(Item No. 4)
