An Ipswich carer who raped a 72-year-old woman at sheltered housing accommodation in Suffolk has been jailed for seven and a half years.

Radu Mut was helping the woman, who has learning difficulties and dementia, have a shower when he had sex with her, Ipswich Crown Court heard.

Mut, 29, of Norwich Road, Ipswich admitted raping the woman in June this year and in addition to being jailed he was made the subject of an indefinite sexual harm prevention order. He was also ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register.

Peter Barlex for Mut accepted the offence was a breach of trust and said his client regretted what he’d done and was disgusted with himself.

He said immigration officials had visited Mut while he had been in custody and he had told them he was keen to return to Romania as soon as he could.

He said Mut had no previous convictions and had come to the UK last year to work so he could send money home to his family.

Detective Inspector Simon Bridgland said: “This is a particularly horrific incident on a vulnerable woman for whom Radu Mut should have been providing care. He violated his position of authority and trust in the most horrific way and the effect this abuse has had on his victim, who has been extremely brave in reporting the offences and seeing this case through to its conclusion, should not be underestimated."

Omar Mateen

Omar Mir Seddique Mateen killed 50 people and wounded 53 others at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida in June 2016.

The shooting, carried out with an AR-15 rifle and a handgun, was the deadliest in American history.

Mateen, 29, was a U.S. citizen of Afghan descent from Port St. Lucie, Florida. He had ties to radical Islamic ideology. He called 911 just before the shooting and pledged allegiance to ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. He also mentioned the Tsarnaev brothers, who carried out the Boston Marathon bombing, during the call.

Mateen was a person of interest in law enforcement investigations in 2013 and 2014. The FBI opened an investigation into Mateen at some point, but closed it “when it produced nothing that appeared to warrant further investigation.”

The FBI interviewed him twice in 2013 after he made suspicious comments about radical Jihadism that were heard by coworkers. He was interviewed a third time, in 2014, based on his connection to Moner Mohammad Abu Salha, an American from Florida who trained in Syria, traveled back to his home state and tried to recruit other Americans, and then went back to Syria, where he blew himself up in a suicide bombing.

There were no open investigations and Mateen was not under surveillance at the time of the shooting.

Mateen died at the scene after he was shot by police at about 5 a.m.. He had barricaded himself in the nightclub after opening fire. Witnesses reported that some of their friends were hiding in dressing rooms and bathrooms, trying to stay safe.

ISIS issued a statement calling Mateen an “Islamic state fighter.”

Britain's worst paedophile who attacked hundreds of children in south-east Asia and used the 'dark web' to crowd-fund his abuse is facing 22 life sentences.

Richard Huckle, 30, targeted a poverty-stricken Christian community in Malaysia, where he posed as a photographer and English teacher to win the trust of his victims' parents.

The former grammar school boy, who came from a middle class family in Kent, took pictures and videos of himself raping and abusing young children and even a baby wearing a nappy.

Huckle bragged of the attacks in online blogs and penned a sick 60-page 'handbook' titled 'Pedophiles & Poverty: Child Lover Guide'.During his nine years of offending, he forced victims to pose with horrific slogans advertising his foul images, which he sold for Bitcoins on a notorious paedophile website on the dark web - the encrypted version of the internet.

As part of an international network, Huckle awarded himself 'PedoPoints' for carrying out the attacks and used a paedophile crowdfunding website to finance the abuse.

On the dark web, Huckle documented every step of his child abuse and hoped to make paedophilia a paying profession. He posted hundreds of images on one of the world's biggest child porn websites, which had more than 9,000 members before it was shut down.

He turned to online paedophiles to crowdfund the abuse, allowing those who paid him in Bitcoins access to videos of him raping his victims.

Rachel and Nyomi Fee

Nothing is more evil in this world than people who deliberately and systematically abuse young children and Rachel and Nyomi Fee, a lesbian couple from Glenrothes, have turned this evil in to an art form.

The couple were found guilty of assaulting and killing their son Liam at his home near Glenrothes on 22 March 2014.

They were also convicted of attempting to defeat the ends of justice by attempting to frame another young boy who was one of two other children present in the house when Liam died. Liam was found dead with heart injuries similar to those found on road crash victims after a severe blunt force trauma to his chest and abdomen.

Pathologists found more than 30 external injuries on the toddler's body and fractures to his upper arm and thigh.

They were also found guilty of abusing two other children, one of whom they tried to frame for Liam's death. The boy told interviewers Nyomi Fee would show she was angry by calling him “dirty boy” and that he had been tied to a locked home-made cage during the night, with his hands and feet would be bound with cable ties to the makeshift construction using a fireguard and bars.

The child also described how he would sometimes be naked in the cage and had his hands bound behind his back, while at other times he would be tied to a cot with a dressing-gown cord and coat belts. The boys were also loxked into a dark room where rats and snakes were kept.

Hopefully the ladies of G wing will exact their own justice on the couple when they are locked away...

Rotherham brothers Arshid, Basharat and Bannaras Hussain were sentenced at Sheffield Crown Court after a series of women - most now in their 30s - told a jury how they were sexually, physically and emotionally abused in the South Yorkshire town when they were in their early teens.

Arshid, 40, and Basharat, 39, were found guilty of a range of offences along with their uncle, Qurban Ali, 53, and two women - Karen MacGregor, 58, and Shelley Davis, 40. The group targeted 15 vulnerable girls, one aged only 11, and forced them to perform horrific sex acts over a sixteen year period.

Arshid and Basharat Hussain were found guilty of dozens of attacks between them. Arshid, the ringleader, has been jailed for 35 years, while Basharat was given 25 years.

Bannaras Hussain admitted ten charges - including rape, indecent assault and assault occasioning actual bodily harm - at the beginning of the trial. He was given a 19-year sentence.

The convictions of the Hussain brothers and their associates is the first successful prosecution of a grooming gang in Rotherham since the child sexual exploitation scandal engulfed the town 18 months ago.

36 year old Jaroslaw Jablonski raped, beat and sexually abused a young woman in an 'horrific' ordeal which a judge described as 'one of the worst he has ever seen'. He 'humiliated' his victim over several hours after tying her hands with tape at a property last year.

A court heard the attack only ended when the woman hit him with a flower pot and was able to flee and flag down a passing motorist.

Jailing him for a total 14 years at Hull Crown Court, judge Paul Watson QC, told him: 'What happened was, in my judgement, not about sexual gratification - it was about humiliation, degradation and control. As well as raping her, you abused her in an horrific manner and forced her to commit humiliating and degrading acts upon you and herself. I have to say that in 40 years of criminal practice, I have rarely, if ever, encountered such a brutal and sustained and degrading attack upon a young woman.

'You pleaded guilty to the offence of assault, but in truth you had no option. Even in relation to that charge, I reject your account that you slapped her in the face - you clearly punched her repeatedly with full force, and you are, as you said yourself, a strong man. This was an horrific episode.'

Jablonski, who is originally from Poland but lived in Hull, admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm but denied any sexual offences. He was unanimously convicted by a jury of two counts of rape, six other sexual offences, and making a threat to kill after a week-long trial at Hull Crown Court.

Abdelhamid Abaaoud

28 year old Abdelhamid Abaaoud, a Belgian national, grew up in Molenbeek, a district of Brussels known for its many Arab immigrants and an area where the radical Salafist ideology has flourished among some young Muslims.

It is not clear when Abaaoud became radicalised. He attended one of Belgium's top secondary schools - Saint-Pierre d'Uccle. He dropped out, or was thrown out, and became involved in petty crime, where he first became known to the authorities.

He was in contact with Mehdi Nemmouche, a jihadist of Franco-Algerian origin, who shot and killed four people at the Jewish Museum in Brussels in May 2014.

Belgian authorities suspect that Abaaoud helped organise and finance a terror cell in Verviers, eastern Belgium. It was broken up in a police raid in January.

An IS propaganda video in 2014 showed Abaaoud in a vehicle that was dragging mutilated bodies behind it. Soon after, Abaaoud recruited his 13-year-old brother to join him in Syria - making him one of IS's youngest recruits.

Abaaoud was also linked to a foiled attack aboard a Thalys express train from Amsterdam to Paris in August 2015. A gunman, Ayoub El-Khazzani, was overpowered by passengers aboard the high-speed train as it travelled through northern France towards Paris. He was also listed as a suspect in a foiled attack in April on a church concert hall in the southern Paris suburb of Villejuif.

French investigators believe that the jihadist killed in a police raid on Wednesday organised last week's Paris attacks which killed at least 129 people.

Christopher Harper-Mercer

Christopher Harper-Mercer walked into Umpqua Community College in Roseberg, Oregon on 1st October 2105 and fatally shot an assistant professor and eight students in a classroom. Nine other students were injured.

Harper-Mercer, who was a student in the writing class, entered the classroom and fired a warning shot. Some witnesses said he then forced fellow students to the center of the classroom. He deliberately spared one student's life so that student could deliver a package from him to police before he opened fire on the other students. He forced this student to sit at the back of the classroom and watch as he continued shooting with two handguns.

He first shot the assistant English professor at point-blank range. He allegedly asked two students for their religion, shooting them after they gave him a response. Other witnesses said he asked if students were Christians, telling those who replied in the affirmative that they would go to heaven as he shot them.

Some students were shot multiple times. One woman was struck several times in the stomach while trying to close a classroom door. He made a woman beg for her life before shooting her, shot another woman when she tried to reason with him, and shot a third woman in the leg after she tried to defend herself with a desk. One victim, Sarena Dawn Moore, was killed while trying to climb back into a wheelchair at his orders.

Thankfully the little shit didn't survive the subsequent encounter with Oregon police.

Ayoub El-Khazzani

Ayoub El-Khazzani got onto a high speed train in Belgium and opened fire on passengers before being overpowered by off duty US military personnel and a British businessman when his gun jammed.

Khazzani was armed with a Kalashnikov assault rifle, 270 rounds of ammunition, a Luger pistol, a bottle of petrol, a box-cutter and a hammer.

Khazzani denies planning to launch a terrorist attack, saying he had come across a stash of weapons in a Belgian park and decided to use it to rob passengers.

He came to the attention of anti-terror authorities for having jihadist beliefs and attending a radical mosque in the southern city of Algeciras and was flagged up to France by the Spanish authorities in February 2014 as an Islamist extremist who may travel to France.

He clearly intended to murder innocent passengers indiscriminately.

Seifeddine Rezgui

23 year old engineering student Seifeddine Rezgui, a 'normal' youth from a poor but respectable background walked onto a beach in Tunisia and opened fire on holidaymakers sunning themselves on the beach.

Eyewitnesses said Rezgui picked out his victims carefully, apparently sparing all Tunisians he came across, including a group of hotel workers who formed a human shield to stop him entering a building next to the one he eventually targeted.

He was laughing and relaxed during the killing spree, which went on for about half an hour, according to survivors.

An avid user of social media, his status updates prior to the New Year mostly focus on hip hop and Real Madrid but he suddenly began posting recurring messages of jihad around the time he began attending mosques controlled by radical preachers in the months leading up to Friday's attack in Sousse. It stated: 'If the love of jihad is a crime, everyone can testify that I am a criminal'

He certainly is - but at least now he's a dead criminal.

Dylann Roof

Before he opened fire on members of a Bible study group at a church in Charleston, South Carolina, Dylann Roof sat with them. He might have prayed with them.

21 year old Roof shot and killed nine people inside the historic Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church, near the heart of Charleston's tourist district. Eight died at the scene; a ninth died at a hospital.

Authorities were shocked not only by the killings but that the violence occurred in a house of worship."People in prayer Wednesday evening. A ritual, a coming together, praying, worshiping God. An awful person to come in and shoot them is inexplicable," said Charleston Mayor Joe Riley.

Since his arrest, Roof has been linked to a racist website expressing extremist views. A friend, when questioned, said Roof was planning a shooting spree at a school. He didn't seem to think it worth reporting. Amazingly, he was given the gun used in the shooting as a birthday present.

At the court hearing, some members of the families of the victims said they would forgive him in the true spirit of Christianity. We say the mad racist scumbag should never be forgiven for what he's done.

Mohammed Khubaib

Mohammed Khubaib, a restaurant boss originally from Pakistan, befriended girls and then ‘hooked’ them with alcohol - normally vodka - in an attempt to make them ‘compliant’ to sexual advances.

The 43-year-old married Peterborough businessman, who lived in the city with his wife and children, would pursue his interest ‘away from his home and family’, using his restaurant as a ‘focal point’.The father of five groomed vulnerable under-age girls by giving them money, gifts or cigarettes before plying them with alcohol.

Following a trial at the Old Bailey he was found guilty of forcing a 14-year-old girl to perform a sex act on him and nine counts of trafficking for sexual exploitation involving girls aged from 12 to 15 between November 2010 and January 2013.

Khubaib raped a 14-year-old girl in August 2007 by forcing her to perform oral sex on him after she was given alcohol and then ‘rewarded’ with £5, the court heard. The girl's mother said the youngster found giving evidence at his trial ‘worse than she expected’ after her father broke down in tears when she went into the courtroom.

Clive Howard of Stowmarket, Suffolk is a dangerous sexual predator who attacked women in Norfolk and Cambridgeshire. He will serve 10 years and three months before parole is considered.

Howard admitted seven counts of rape, three of kidnap and one of attempted rape against six women.

Judge Stephen Holt said: "This was a campaign of sexual offences over many years. Two of the victims describe you spanking them - this is additional humiliation and degradation. There was clearly a significant degree of planning and targeting. All of the victims' statements show a similar pattern of how terrified they were and the ongoing effect this has had."

Fifteen women have contacted police since his first court appearance fearing they had been targeted by the rapist, who admitted 11 offences :

13 year old Petri Kurti has become one of the UK's youngest murderers after he was jailed for killing a woman he had just mugged by stamping on her face so hard it left a footprint on her cheek. After he murdered 47-year-old Glynis Bensley he fled to a nearby park in Smethwick, West Midlands and boasted about the savage attack.

Kurti teamed up with Zoheb Majid with the sole intention of carrying out a violent robbery. CCTV footage captured him jumping Ms Bensley in the street as she made her way home from Seven Stars pub. Majid joined in seconds later before the pair flipped her body over to ransack her pockets. Kurti was then filmed stamping on her face, leaving a shoe print on her skin.

He sentenced the 13-year-old to 12 years imprisonment for the murder with five years concurrent for robbery. Zoheb Majid, 20, was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for manslaughter and robbery.

He was given another 12 months, to run concurrently, for another street robbery carried out with his 25-year-old sister whilst on bail for the murder on February 4. The teenager was ordered to be detained at Her Majesty's Pleasure - the equivalent of a minimum term life sentence for a youth.

Letting this little bastard rot in jail is too good for him.

Kevin Bollaert

Kevin Christopher Bollaert is the owner of a now-offline “revenge porn” website based in California. He was sentenced Friday to 18 years behind bars, according to a news release from the California attorney general’s office.

Bollaert, 27, had been found guilty in February of six counts of extortion and 21 counts of identity theft. He faced a maximum of 23 years in prison.

Prosecutors said Bollaert created a website that allowed people to post explicit images of people without their permission. The site also posted personal information of the people in the pictures without their consent, Attorney General Kamala Harris said.

The sexually explicit material, primarily of women, was routinely posted by angry former boyfriends and ex-husbands, authorities said. It contained their real names and links to their Facebook profiles.

Bollaert created a second website that solicited payments of $250 to $350 from people who wanted to have the photographs deleted. Bollaert made about $30,000 on that site, the attorney general’s office said.

“Sitting behind a computer, committing what is essentially a cowardly and criminal act will not shield predators from the law or jail.” Harris said. “We will continue to be vigilant and investigate and prosecute those who commit these deplorable acts.”

CNN affiliate KFMB reported that Bollaert’s father apologized to the victims during Friday’s hearing, saying “how sorry we are here today because of a shameful, stupid, inappropriate thing my son did. My heart goes out to all of you.”

The station also reported his defense attorney admitted her client made moral transgressions but wasn’t legally responsible for the 10,170 photos submitted in the year the websites operated.

Ironically, the picture in the newspapers with his girlfriend has her face pixellated out when it was exactly for not doing that that the bastard needs burning.

21 year old Chris Storey broke his ex-girlfriend's back in four places, and left her with six cracked teeth and a hole in her retina after he attacked her because she went on a night out.

Lindsey Pringle spent 12 days in hospital after the savage beating in August last year.

Miss Pringle broke up with Storey the day before the attack because of his controlling behaviour, but when he saw her in a Newcastle nightclub he ordered her to go home saying he would smash up her flat if she didn’t agree.

At the time of the assault Storey was already serving a community order for stabbing Miss Pringle in the neck with a key.

Storey, of Walker, Newcastle, who admitted causing grievous bodily harm was also made the subject of a lifelong restraining against Miss Pringle. The court also heard he has a previous conviction for harassment of another partner.

Cherif and Said Kouachi

On 7 January 2015, at about 11:30 CET, Cherif and Said Kouachi armed with Kalashnikov rifles, a shotgun, and an RPG launcher entered the offices of the French satirical newspaper #CharlieHebdo in Paris.

The attack resulted in the deaths of at least 20 people, including the editor Stéphane "Charb" Charbonnier, eight other Charlie Hebdo employees, and two National Police officers, while at least 12 others were wounded. The gunmen entered the building and began shooting with automatic weapons, shouting "Allahu Akbar", Arabic for "God is great".

Cherif Kouachi, who also went by the name Abu Issen, was part of the "Buttes-Chaumont network" that helped send would-be jihadists to fight for al-Qaeda in Iraq after the United States and United Kingdom led invasion in 2003. Chérif was arrested in January 2005, at age 22, when he and another man were about to leave for Bashar al-Assad's Syria – at the time the gateway for jihadists to fight US troops in Iraq. In 2008, Chérif Kouachi was convicted of terrorism and sentenced to three years in prison, with 18 months suspended, for having assisted in sending fighters to militant Islamist Abu Musab al-Zarqawi's group

His brother Said visited Yemen in 2008 for a number of months and trained with Al Qaeda militants in the Arabian Peninsula.

After a massive manhunt by French authorities, the brothers were tracked down to the office of Création Tendance Découverte, a signage production company, on an industrial estate in Dammartin-en-Goële. They had a 26-year-old male hostage who they were apparently unaware of. The hostage was hiding inside of a cardboard box and had been texting police during the siege for around three hours.

During the eight-hour siege, at least three explosions had gone off near the building. Agence France-Presse (AFP) reported that both Kouachi brothers were killed after they came out firing on security forces. Their hostage was rescued unharmed.

Anyone who thinks that these two psychopaths have earned their place in heaven for their actions is seriously deluded. We can think of a much warmer place.

The teenage killer of Ann Maguire winked at a friend as he walked over to the Spanish teacher’s desk, where he stabbed her seven times and returned to his seat “as if nothing happened”, a court heard .

William Cornick, known as Will, was 15 when he killed Maguire in front of terrified pupils during a lesson at Corpus Christi Catholic college in Leeds on 28 April, having talked about an attack on her for three years. Full details of the murder and his motivation can now be revealed for the first time.

As he pleaded guilty to murder, Leeds crown court heard that he had never expressed remorse and told doctors at one point he was proud of the attack: “In my eyes, everything I’ve done is fine and dandy.”

The judge imposed an indeterminate sentence, saying Cornick was “highly dangerous” and may well never be released, after psychiatrists warned he had “psychopathic elements” to his personality and could kill again. Leeds crown court heard he hoped to kill two other teachers, including one who was pregnant. He told doctors his plan was to stab her in the stomach to kill her unborn child.

Amazingly, Cornick brought his knives to school, showed them to his mates and told them what he intended to do. Nobody stopped him.

The death penalty was designed to protect the public from little shits like this. Locking him up and giving him three square meals and a roof over his head just isn't good enough.

Italian nurse, Daniela Poggiali, alledgedly killed as many as 38 patients because 'she found them annoying'.

She was arrested by officers in Lugo, northern Italy, after the unexpected death of a 78-year-old patient who was admitted with a routine illness. They have widened their inquiry to include 38 deaths, including ten which have been described as 'very suspicious'.

One report by the Central European news agency said she was accused of giving her patients high doses of potassium because she found them or their families annoying.

A staff member said Poggiali asked to have her photo taken next to a patient who had just died. Another reportedly accused the 42-year-old nurse of 'joking' about giving a high dose of potassium to a seriously ill patient.

The inquiry was triggered by the death in April of 78-year-old Rosa Calderoni. Tests indicated the pensioner had unusual amounts of potassium chloride in her bloodstream - high doses of which can trigger cardiac arrest. It is used as part of the death penalty in the U.S.

But prosecutors admit there are 'insurmountable difficulties' with their investigation because potassium fades from the bloodstream within a few days, making it hard to detect.

Poggiali was 'unperturbed' when she was arrested in the last few days. In local reports, one nurse who worked with Poggiali described her as a 'cold person but always eager to work'.

Another claimed she had once given powerful laxatives to patients towards the end of her shift to 'embarrass' colleagues working on the shift after her.

A paedophile who filmed himself sexually abusing a baby girl was caught after new owners of his home found child pornography he left behind during the move.

The new owners of his home were quick to tip off police when they re-decorated the home and found a disc hidden behind kitchen units at the Frinton, Essex, property.

Martin Hunt, 24, was eventually tracked down when police happened to find indecent images at another paedophile's house in Kent and a trail of emails linking Hunt to the abuse.

Hunt admitted 19 charges, including sexual assault and making, distributing and possessing indecent images.

Judge Patricia Lynch QC jailed Hunt for 12 years and gave him an extended licence of eight years when he appeared at Chelmsford Crown Court, Essex. This means he could be recalled to prison if he offends again within 20 years of his release.

He will serve at least nine years in prison before he is considered for parole.

Joseph A. Oberhansley of Indiana fatally stabbed his ex-girlfriend Tammy Jo Blanton after breaking into her house. He told police that he mutilated her body and ate several of her organs.

Oberhansley — who has a previous conviction for manslaughter in Utah — was arrested after police came to Blanton's house looking for her because she hadn't shown up for work. Police said he acted suspiciously when officers asked him about Blanton's whereabouts after knocking on the door about 10 a.m.

There was a fresh cut across his knuckles . The officers searched Oberhansley for weapons and found a folding blade tucked in his back pocket, covered with what appeared to be blood and hair. An officer then walked through the house calling Blanton's name before finding her bloody body under a vinyl camping tent draped over the bathtub. Her skull had been crushed.

An autopsy revealed she died of multiple sharp force trauma to the head, neck and torso, and that parts of her heart, lungs and brain were missing. Police also found a "plate with what appeared to be skull bone and blood" on it as well as a skillet and pair of tongs with blood on the handles. Oberhansley told officers he removed several of Blanton's organs and ate them, both cooked and raw. Tissue was found in a garbage can, the affidavit said.

Prosecutor Steve Stewart said, "After you've been prosecuting for so long, you think you've seen everything. ... I've never seen this."

The Blanton case is not Oberhansley's first brush with the law. He served time in Utah after being convicted of manslaughter in the 1998 shooting death of his teenage girlfriend, 17-year-old Sabrina Elder, who had recently given birth to their son. The incident occurred in the suburban Salt Lake City home of Oberhansley's grandmother. He also shot his mother in the back and arm as she tried to defend Elder, according to the AP. Oberhansley then put the gun to his chin, and his brain was damaged when the bullet entered his frontal lobe. He was released from prison in 2012.

Rosdeep Adekoya killed her three-year-old son and hid his body in a suitcase.

Mikaeel Kular died two days after being beaten repeatedly by Rosdeep Adekoya following a family day out in January 2014. She reported him missing to police, sparking a two-day search operation involving hundreds of local people.

His mother lost her temper when he was repeatedly sick following a trip to a Nando's restaurant at the city's Fountain Park. She smacked him and struck him on the body and head with a clenched fist.

When Mikaeel was sick for a third time, she dragged him to the shower by his arms and beat him heavily on his back as he lay over the bath edge.

Over the next few days Mikaeel's condition worsened and he was kept away from nursery. He was assaulted again on the Monday after being sick and became listless, but his mother did not take him to a doctor because of the bruising.

By Tuesday night, Mikaeel was said to be quiet and was giving a limited response to his mother's questions. After discovering his lifeless body on the floor of their Edinburgh home, she wrapped it in a duvet cover, put it in the suitcase and drove about 25 miles to Kirkcaldy, Fife, to hide it in woodland.

She was jailed for 11 years after pleading guilty to culpable homicide.

Marina Usaceva

Marina Usaceva, who killed a man while using two mobile phones behind the wheel, has been jailed by a judge who called such crimes “a plague on society”.

Usaceva had told police she was not using a phone after crashing her car into the back of another, killing Sukhdeep Singh Johal, its driver.

Georgina Gibbs, prosecuting, told a court that Usaceva, 31, continued to deny using the phones despite the findings of a police investigation. She had previously been caught twice using her phone behind the wheel and her licence was endorsed in 2009 and 2012.

Usaceva, who admitted causing death by dangerous driving at an earlier hearing, was sentenced to six years in prison and banned from driving for eight years.

Judge Sean Enright told her: “If you were not sending texts at the time, then you were fiddling with your phone and that is what caused this collision. In my opinion there is not a scrap of remorse. Mobile phone use while driving is a plague on our society.”

Insp Bob Turner, who oversaw the investigation for Cambridgeshire Police, said Usaceva had behaved “incredibly foolishly”. “I have never seen anything like it before, it was crass stupidity,” he added.

Speaking after the sentencing, Mr Johal’s father, Buhupinder, said: “Even 60 years wouldn’t be enough, but this is some kind of justice. The only thing we can hope is that others will learn from this. People think nothing of it, but using a mobile phone while driving can kill.”

And despite being nicked twice before, this silly bitch was using two phones! She deserves to be unforgiven.

You can't get much lower in this life than to steal from a charity. And in the UK, it gets worse when that charity is one set up to support injured servicemen and women who fought for their country.

Christopher Copeland tricked the public into donating £300,000 over an 18 month period to the armed forces charity Help for Heroes, only to pocket the money himself.

Accompanied by a vehicle from Copeland’s collection of ex-military vehicles decorated in Help for Heroes livery, his teams would attempt to encourage shoppers to put cash into charity buckets.

The scam took place between 1 February, 2010 and ended on 17 September, 2011, when Copeland was arrested after one of his workers became suspicious.

Detective Chief Inspector Mike Robison said "We believed his motive was greed. It is a rare occurrence and one that we have taken seriously along with Help for Heroes and the Crown Prosecution Service to arrive at a successful outcome."

Jo Brookes, Help for Heroes' Income Protection Officer, described Copeland's actions as "calculated" and "devious"."We're appalled that Chris Copeland exploited the goodwill of so many people towards our wounded men and women in such a calculated, devious way," she said.

"The money he stole never reached us, or the thousands of Heroes we support, because he used organised, criminal tactics to intercept it."

He faces a lengthy prison sentence after which Old Nick should line him up for a severe burning.

Disgraced Aussie family entertainer, Rolf Harris, was jailed for five years and nine months for twelve counts of indecently assaulting young women and girls.

One woman said she was aged seven or eight when she queued to get an autograph from Harris at a community centre in Hampshire in 1968 or 1969. When she reached the front of the queue, Harris had touched her inappropriately with his "big hairy hands", she told the jury.

She said she had initially thought it might have been an accident but then he touched her again. "It felt very aggressive, and I knew that it wasn't an accident." She went on to describe how "he scared me because he was looking at me all the time".

Seven of the 12 charges related to a childhood friend of Harris's daughter Bindi. Six charges related to alleged abuse when she was aged between 13 and 15, and the seventh to when she was 19. The court heard that the abuse began when she had been on holiday with the Harris family at the age of 13.

Later, the woman said Harris had performed a sex act on her at the Harris family home, with Bindi asleep in the same room. Further assaults took place at the Harris home and in her bedroom at her own home while her parents were downstairs.

Harris faces the possible loss of much of his estimated £11m fortune. He will face a claim for significant prosecution costs and several of his victims have begun claims for compensation.

As well as the civil compensation suits, Harris faces being stripped of his various honours, including a CBE, professional fellowships and honorary degrees. His home town of Bassendean in Western Australia is to remove a plaque in his honour and his former school has taken down his artwork.
