Educational Qualification:

1.Candidates must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. They must clear both theory and practical exams without grace marks.

Minimum Marks Required:
- General Category: 45% aggregate
- Reserved Category: 40% aggregate

Alternative Eligibility:
2. Candidates with 3-years Diploma in Engineering & Technology under State Council for Technical Education, Assam, with 45% (40% for reserved category) marks in the Final Diploma Examination

3.Or Passed B.Sc. from a recognized University as defined by UGC, with at least 45% marks (40% marks in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) and passed HSC (i.e., 10+2 or equivalent) examination with Mathematics as a main subject

Age Limit:
Minimum 17 years as on 31 December 2026. There is no upper age limit for this examination.

Other Criteria:
1. PRC: Candidates must also be permanent residents of Assam with valid PRC certificate..
2. Character & Fitness : The Candidate must have a good moral character. ( Character Certificate from the head of Institute last attended to be submitted). Also t he Candidate must be physically and mentally fit. (Medical Certificate from the Medical Officer / Medical Practitioner to be submitted.)

  • 3 years Diploma (for candidates qualified before 2008) OR
  • 3.5 years Diploma (for candidates qualified between 2008–2015) OR
  • 3 years Diploma with internship (for candidates qualified after 2015).
>Must be registered with Central Nursing Council or State Nursing Council as General Nurse and Midwife.

2. Sub Inspector (Pioneer):
>Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized University or Institute.

3. Sub Inspector (Communication):
>Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics & Communication / Computer Science / Information Technology Engineering OR
>B.Sc with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from a recognized University.

Maximum Age: 30 Years

OBC – 3 Years
Ex-Servicemen – 3 years after deduction of military service

📝 Selection Procedure for SSB SI Recruitment 2026

1. Physical Standard Test (PST)

Candidates will be tested for physical standards such as height and chest as per prescribed norms.
• Candidates not meeting required physical standards will be disqualified.
• No Physical Efficiency Test (PET) for Staff Nurse & Pioneer posts.

2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET) (Only for SI Communication)

• Male: 1.6 Km run in 6 minutes 30 seconds
• Female: 800 meters run in 4 minutes
• Ex-servicemen are exempted from PET but must appear in other stages.

3. Written Examination (Computer Based Test)

• Mode: CBT (Objective Type)
• Duration: 3 Hours
• Total Marks: 150

Paper Structure:
• Part-I (50 Marks): General Knowledge, Mathematics, Reasoning, General English/Hindi
• Part-II (100 Marks): Technical Subject related to post

Minimum Qualifying Marks:
• UR/EWS/OBC/Ex-Servicemen – 50%
• SC/ST – 45%

4. Document Verification (DV)

• Candidates shortlisted (up to 3 times vacancies) will be called for verification.
• All original documents must be produced.
• Failure to produce documents will lead to disqualification.

5. Detailed Medical Examination (DME)

• Candidates will undergo medical fitness test as per CAPF standards.
• Only medically fit candidates will proceed further.

6. Review Medical Examination (RME)

• Candidates declared unfit in DME can appeal for review medical examination.

7. Final Merit List

• Final selection will be based on marks obtained in Written Examination only.
• In case of tie:
  • Higher marks in Technical Subject will be preferred
  • Older candidate (age-wise) will be preferred
  • Alphabetical order of name will be considered

Final appointment will be subject to medical fitness and document verification.
