Catwoman Anne Hathaway performance in the latest Batman movie on Hedy Lamarr, the glamorous 1940s film star who first inspired the character. Many actresses have played Catwoman over the years, but to prepare for her own role as the sexy masked "Batman" character in "The Dark Knight Rises," Anne Hathaway looked to the source.

Catwoman (Anne) told the Los Angeles Times that she studied late Hollywood sex icon Hedy Lamarr, who the "Batman" comic book franchise creator Bob Kane used as one of his inspirations for Catwoman, along with actress Jean Harlow and his own girlfriend.Hathaway has now revealed she went back to the character’s roots for her portrayal, basing her performance on late Hollywood legend Lamarr, who was cited as the inspiration for Catwoman by comic book artist Bob Kane.

In 2009, she was nominated for an Oscar for her role in the movie "Rachel Getting Married." A year later, she and James Franco co-hosted the Academy Awards ceremony.Hathaway is now preparing to play Fantine, a poor French woman who turns to prostitution to provide for her daughter, in the film adaptation of the musical "Les Miserables," which also stars Hugh Jackman.

New Mozart piano music discovered

The International Mozarteum Foundation in Salzburg announced Thursday that it had discovered two previously unknown compositions written by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

For the second time in two years, the International Mozarteum Foundation has announced the discovery of previously unknown music by Mozart.

A pianist will perform the composition Aug. 2 in a Salzburg house where the composer once resided, EarthTimes reported.

The foundation did not reveal any details of the find.

A single sheet of a Mozart work was found in September of last year in a library in Nantes, France, where it had lain unnoticed for more than 100 years.

“It’s a melody sketch, so what’s missing is the harmony and the instrumentation, but you can make sense out of it,” foundation researcher Ulrich Leisinger told the CBC.

Mozart, who lived only to be 35, published more than 600 pieces, including concertos, symphonies and operas.

Kimo Leopoldo is still alive

Reports on Tuesday of the death of early Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) star Kimo Leopoldo was a big story throughout the mixed-martial-arts world. No one was more surprised by the news, in fact, than Leopoldo himself. He’s alive and well.

I am very happy to report that an earlier story I wrote this morning has turned out be false. Former UFC fighter Kimo Leopoldo is not dead. MMA Junkie wa able to confirm this through the fighter's publicist Bob Trieger.

Numerous media reports, including ones from TMZ, the New York Daily News, Orange County Register, USA Today and the Huffington Post, also reported his death.

"When I saw the sites, it scared me," Leopoldo said.

"I wondered, are they predicting the future or am I cursed?"

It was neither, though it still made for a memorable day.

The Orange County Sheriff's coroner's office received more than 200 phone calls about Leopoldo's purported death starting as early as 7 a.m., spokesman Jim Amormino said. After trying to confirm the reports through local hospitals, county health officials and the fire department, Amormino fielded inquiries until Leopoldo held a news conference at 5 p.m. outside the sheriff's office in Santa Ana.

Before the erroneous reports of his death, Leopoldo was best known for his MMA debut at UFC 3 in 1994, where he fought and lost to Royce Gracie. He ended his career in October 2006, and had been publicly linked to performance-enhancing drugs and banned stimulants because of failed drug tests.

Jennifer Lopez returned to the streets of NYC on July 20th to film another scene for her upcoming movie The Back-Up Plan – and she showed off a very visible baby bump. Jennifer is already the mother of twins – could this be baby No:3? Nope just apart of the role for the movie.

In the movie, scheduled for release in January 2010, Lopez plays a single woman named Zoe who is ready to be a mother but sick of waiting for Mr. Right. She decides to get in-vitro fertilization, but meets the man of her dreams (Alex O'Loughlin) right after the artificial inseminatation procedure.

Hilarity ensues as Zoe tries to keep her pregnancy a secret from her new sweetheart.

In real life Lopez gave birth to her first children, twins Max and Emme, with father Marc Anthony on February 22, 2008. And after taking time off for the pregnancy the star, who turns 40 on July 24, admitted she was worried about going back to work, "The few days before I got really nervous I was like, what if I forgot how to act?"

But bringing her twins to the set has helped, "I bring the babies to work with me. I love it. Honestly, one of the best days of my life was the first day back working on this film. I wanted to do this film really badly and bringing my babies with me that first morning, I was like, 'Oh my God, they're with me, I'm making a movie, they're here!' It's great having kids on set. It's the best."

Paula Abdul Leaving American Idol?

Over the weekend, Paula Abdul's manager announced that the the judge was unsure whether she would return to "American Idol" and referred to the ongoing contract negotiations "hurtful.

The Fox reality competition Abdul has helped judge since its 2002 inception may be cutting her from its payroll. According to Abdul's manager, David Sonenberg, "Idol" hasn't offered her a formal contract proposal for season nine contract, whose auditions are already underway.

"Very sadly, it does not appear that she's going to be back on Idol," Sonenberg told the Los Angeles Times last week. "I find it under these circumstances particularly unusual; I think unnecessarily hurtful," he added. "I find it kind of unconscionable and certainly rude and disrespectful that they haven't stepped up and said what they want to do."

It's not the first time Abdul has teetered on the edge of being bounced from the show.

Britney Spears is not taking any chances when it comes to the safety of her children.

The 27-year-old pop star feared for the safety of her sons after allegedly receiving a series of menacing messages through email. She originally planned to bring Sean Preston and Jayden James for her "Circus" shows in St. Petersburg and Moscow, but ultimately decided to just leave them in London with her family.

Spears is said to be living in Finland, and will flyi to the country for two concerts, in St. Petersburg and Moscow.

After the July 21 concert in the Russian capital, Spears plans to fly to London via private jet to reunite with her sons, Sean Preston, 3, and Jayden James, 2.

"Originally, both boys were to accompany Britney, but she was against taking them because of these constant threats," a tour spokesman said.

Beastie Boys' Adam Yauch Has Cancer

In a video posted Monday (July 20) onBeastieBoys.com, Adam "MCA" Yauch announced that he has cancer and the group is canceling all upcoming shows (and pushing back the release of their Hot Sauce Committee, Part One album) while he receives treatment for it.

In a posting on the band's website, Yauch reveals a cancerous tumour in his left salivary gland will need surgery. He is expected to fully recover.

"I just need a little time to get this in check and then we'll release the record and play some shows," he wrote.

Hot Sauce Committee Part I was due to be released on 15 September.

The band had been due to play a number of headlining slots at festivals across the US, including the Lollapalooza event.

One of the act's last live performances was at Tennessee's Bonnaroo music festival last month.

They weren't? Armstrong's crewmate, Buzz Aldrin, sometimes claims that he got in the first line. Six hours earlier, as the Apollo 11 Lunar Module Eagle touched down, it was Aldrin who called out, "Contact light."

If the subject is Neil Armstrong, the first man to set foot on the moon tends to turn churlish. He will defer, deflect or refuse to answer. When his little home town of Wapakoneta, Ohio, sought to honor him with a parade on the 25th anniversary of his moonwalk, Armstrong sent his regrets. He once pleaded to a newspaper reporter, 10 years after his feat: "How long must it take before I can cease to be known as a spaceman?"

As if such a thing were possible. Or even desirable.

It's not fair to call Armstrong a "recluse," as many accounts of his life after Apollo 11 invariably have. He's no cosmic J.D. Salinger or Howard Hughes, shunning the world out of spite or madness. Armstrong makes the occasional public appearance and speech, as he did Sunday at the Smithsonian and as he will do again Monday at NASA's official commemoration of the moon landing. He's also appeared in two NASA video productions over the past five years.

What's more, after resisting would-be biographers for years, he finally caved to his family's prodding and sat for more than 50 hours of interviews with Auburn University historian James R. Hansen for a 2005 biography, "First Man: The Life of Neil A. Armstrong."

Yet for the 40th anniversary, Armstrong has once again carefully rationed himself. He told planners at the Smithsonian and NASA that he would speak at their events, but not as the keynoter, not at length and only in conjunction with other Apollo alumni. A book-signing at the Air and Space Museum featuring his Apollo 11 crew mates, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins, was out of the question (Armstrong stopped signing anything some years ago when brokers began peddling bogus signatures on the Internet). Media interviews? Not a chance. "He's always been this way," says one person involved in planning the events.

Mischa Barton, currently hospitalized at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles under psychiatric evaluation, known as a 5150 hold, could be released as early as Saturday, or held longer, experts say.

Mischa Barton remains hospitalized, two days after Los Angeles police say they escorted her from her home with an undisclosed medical problem. Her publicist, Craig Schneider, says in a statement that the 23-year-old actress remains in the hospital under doctor's orders.

Police say they removed Barton from her home on Wednesday afternoon for a medical problem. The department will not say what it was.

Schneider's statement also does not address Barton's condition.

The actress rose to fame as a star on Fox's teen drama "The O.C." She was arrested in December 2007 and later pleaded no contest to a drunken driving charge.

A SECOND man has died after the collapse of a stage being set up for a Madonna concert in Marseille France.

The victim is thought to be a British man, 32, who had been in intensive care in a neurosurgery ward since the accident yesterday.

A Frenchman, 53, was killed on the spot when the giant structure collapsed during the set-up for the concert, which was later cancelled.

Eight other people were seriously hurt, including an American who was in a life-threatening condition. About 36 people had minor injuries.

More than 30 people suffered minor injuries and shock, according to authorities.

The roof "started shaking and collapsing" gradually, said Marseille city councillor Maurice Di Nocera.

"Since it did not collapse right away that allowed several people to get out," he said.

Madonna, who is performing on her Sticky and Sweet tour, was in Udine, Italy, when she was told of the incident.

"I am devastated to have just received this tragic news," she said in a statement released by Live Nation, the organisers of the concert.

"My prayers go out to those who were injured and their families, along with my deepest sympathy to all those affected by this heartbreaking news."

Temple Hill Productions partners Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey — better known as two members of the team who originally brought "Twilight" to the big screen — are now planning to work with another rising star, Miley Cyrus. Variety reported today that Temple Hill, along with Miley's mama Tish Cyrus , will produce Miley's next project "Wings."

Disney – which produces Hannah and is preparing her screen vehicle The Last Song – has bought screen rights to author Aprilynne Pike's bestselling young adult novel Wings for the 16-year-old star.

Tish Cyrus, mother of Miley, will executive produce with Temple Hill, the same company that produced Twilight.

Wings refers to the physical appendage sprouted by Laurel, a sheltered 15-year-old who suddenly discovers she's a fairy.

Due to restrictions on their photographers, the Swedish newspapers are boycotting Britney Spears Concert.

Talk about a circus! Four prominent Swedish newspapers have threatened to boycott Britney Spears's "Circus" tour when it stops for its concert in Stockholm on Monday. Photographers for the newspapers are upset about the restrictions placed on their photos.

Spears has certain conditions regarding how and when the photos can be used. According to her wishes, the papers cannot resell the pictures or publish them more than 30 days after the concert.

In a comment made to the Associated Press, Dagens Nyheter photo editor Roger Turesson said Friday, "The next step would be to tell critics they can't write anything critical."

Now the four major newspapers in Sweden, Dagens Nyheter, Svenska Dagbladet, Expressen and Aftonbladet, claim that they will not send their photographers to Britney Spears's "Circus" concert unless Spears agrees to remove the conditions she has placed on the photographers.

Spears is scheduled to perform in Stockholm on July 13.

The Nashville police said Wednesday that Steve McNair was murdered by his girlfriend, Sahel Kazemi, who used the same gun to kill herself.

Jealousy drove Steve McNair's 20-year-old girlfriend to shoot the former star NFL quarterback to death while he slept and then to kill herself, the Nashville police chief said on Wednesday.

Sahel Kazemi shot McNair, 36, in the head while he dozed on the couch of his condominium in the early hours of Saturday, then pumped three more bullets into his head and body, police said.

She then sat down beside him and shot herself in the head, apparently intending to fall into his lap. Her body later slid to the floor of McNair's shared rented condominium.

Serpas said evidence at the scene and forensic tests showed that all five bullets were fired from Kazemi’s gun and showed gunpowder residue on her hands.

He said associates of Kazemi’s told investigators she was distraught recently. Kazemi apparently believed McNair was having a relationship with another woman and told a co-worker at Dave & Buster’s restaurant Friday night that she was considering suicide, Serpas said.

“She told friends her life was so messed up that she was going to end it all,” Serpas said. “She believed her relationship with Mr. McNair was unraveling. There is evidence she was spinning out of control.”

Serpas said Kazemi’s friends told investigators she had apparently seen another woman recently leaving the condo McNair leased with a friend and followed her. She also had financial problems, including a roommate who was going to move out and leave her with a higher rent payment.

Kazemi, who came from an immigrant Iranian family, bought a gun for $100 after concluding McNair, who was married with four sons, had a new girlfriend, Serpas said.

Her relatives have said she believed McNair planned to divorce his wife and marry her, though no divorce papers were ever filed. Police said Kazemi was also worried about money.

McNair did extensive charity work in Nashville, having played most of his 13 seasons in the NFL with the hometown Tennessee Titans and its predecessor team, the Houston Oilers.

He had the reputation of being a fearless quarterback who overcame many painful injuries. He led the Titans to the Super Bowl in 2000 but lost the game to the St. Louis Rams, and was the NFL's co-MVP in 2003.

McNair ended his career with the Baltimore Ravens and retired after the 2007 season.

A memorial service was scheduled for Thursday at Nashville's LP Field, with burial in McNair's native Mississippi.

Michael Jackson albums dominated the album charts for the second week in a row,

moving over 800,000 copies of various albums, lead by the hits compilation Number Ones. If the Jackson albums weren’t relegated to the Catalog Albums chart (anything released 18 months ago or earlier has its sales tracked on that chart), he would own the three of the top five slots on this week’s chart.

Michael Jackson sold more records than anyone in the country this past week, just like last week: a stunning 800,000 albums in total, including 339,000 copies of Number Ones and 187,000 copies of Thriller, according to Nielsen SoundScan. But just like last week, those two best-sellers were only counted for Billboard's Top Comprehensive Albums chart due to their age, leaving NOW That's What I Call Music! 31 to top the flagship Billboard 200 albums chart with a comparatively small 169,000 units shifted. Such are Billboard's rules. Note that this makes two weeks in a row where catalog albums have soundly outsold the Billboard 200's No. 1, something that had never happened before in the chart publication's history. Count it as just one more testament to Michael Jackson's lasting impact on pop culture.

Not that there weren't plenty of other strong debuts to go around on the chart. Brad Paisley's American Saturday Night made it to No. 2 with 130,000 sold. No. 3 went to Rob Thomas' Cradlesong, with 122,000. Britney Spears extends role for Kohl's Candie's line

Pop Star Britney Spears will continue to appear as the personality for the Candie’s brand that is exclusively sold at Menomonee Falls, Wis.-based Kohl’s Department Stores based.

Candie’s parent Iconix Brand Group (NASDAQ: ICON) said Tuesday it will continue its partnership with Spears and she will appear in Candie’s fall television, print, online and in-store advertising campaign. Spears recently appeared in the juniors brand’s spring print and online marketing campaign.

Candie’s outfitted Spears for her new music video, “Radar,” and will use footage from the music video for its fall television commercial. The music video features Candie’s apparel, footwear, jewelry and accessories that are available at Kohl’s . The television commercial will debut later this summer and the print campaign will premiere in September issues of fashion, entertainment and lifestyle magazines.

Julie Gardner, Kohl’s executive vice president and chief marketing officer, said the department store chain is excited that Spears will appear in the fall ad campaign.

“After a successful launch in spring, we know Spears has a strong connection with our young shoppers who want great style at exceptional value,” she said.

The campaign will be heavily integrated into Kohl’s fall marketing vehicles, including national broadcast, outdoor billboards, circulars, in-store graphics, online, direct mail and e-mail blasts.

Brooke Shields Calls Michael Jackson 'Asexual'

Brooke Shields was 13 when she first met Michael Jackson and the two "instantly became friends" — mainly because sexual tension was off the table."Nothing was jaded about him," the 44-year-old actress told Rolling Stone magazine for a special commemorative issue about the King of Pop, on sale Friday.

Although I wasn't old enough to develop an infatuation with Brooke Shields' post-"Blue Lagoon" eyebrows or lust after her Calvins, I can look back at those pics and get it. Seriously. Especially this one.

But the one thing I never quite understood was her friendship with Michael Jackson. The two couldn't have seemed more like polar opposites. And despite what Paula Abdul has taught us, opposites do not always attract.

However in her first interview since the King of Pop's passing, Brooke tells Rolling Stone that their lack of sexual chemistry is exactly what made the relationship work. For Brooke, being "the most celebrated virgin ever" had its upsides, namely it made her the antithesis of every other double X chromosome Michael knew.

Women "wanted to throw themselves at [Michael]," Brooke says, adding that most tried to get in his pants because they felt like "they were going to teach him [about sex]." But Brooke never saw a romantic side of the man who became "more asexual" in her eyes as they grew up.

"He was like a little kid who talked about the bases -- what first base was, what second base was," Brooke said. "It sounded very odd to the outside, I can imagine, but to the inside, to someone who's never really left his bubble, you can understand how he would be curious."

And the fast friendship they developed decades ago was still going strong the last time Brooke saw Michael, at Elizabeth Taylor's 1991 wedding (guess my invite got lost in the mail). "We snuck in and took pictures of ourselves next to her dress," Brooke remembers. "We always seemed to revert to being little kids."
