The Giving Tree at Inspire 2 Knit & Tea

Each year in November we put up the Holiday Giving Tree,here at Inspire 2 Knit & Tea.

And each year since we started our tradition we asked the knitters of the community to contribute a hat or mittens for the tree.

The beautiful hats will be donated at Christmas to the Whole Village and Bridge House to share in the spirit of the holidays. This year, knitters have been very generous in their time, effort and materials. We already have the start of a varied, well crafted and colorful group to share.

The store is decorated for the holidays, with lots of gift giving ideas.

Please stop in and visit, we’ll be having little treats during Sat. shopping hours right up until Christmas, come see the tree, or contribute if you’d like, or see all the yarns & fibers just in.

Let’s give a wonderful welcome to our warm New England Fall, today September 20^th is the first real day we’ve seen the beginning of the foliage change. When the leaves start to tempt you for a nice drive in the country, don’t forget to stop in here @ Inspire 2 Knit & Tea in Plymouth, NH.

We’ve lovely yarns and many, many samples, store models that is, to show the yarns to you in a project. Whether it’s large or small, we’ve done the visual aspect from yarn to garment for you. Also, in some cases you can try on to see the style or fit. It’s just one of the things that a local yarn store is able to help you with. We’re currently featuring a fabulous trunk show,from Universal Yarns of new items & garments made up by the company to inspire you. We can also aid in yarn selection, pattern search, help with problem knitting, well, just about any fiber question. We’re open 7 days a week. Classes & private lessons, 5 days a week. Sweaters & special projects on commission as well.

We also feature Gallery space that changes monthly for local artists.

Our shop has been rewarded with loyal customers, from the local area & all over the country. They’ve been saying some terrific things about the shop, too!

We’re still here in the economic downturn that all of us have been trying to survive, even though we hear about yarn stores closing all around us. We’re ready to assist you for your yarn & fiber requirements.

We’re kicking off First Fridays @ Dressers’ Unltd with an art opening and artist’s talk.

Sept 4^th 5 – 7 pm Friday evening, Ursula Cohen will be on hand to discuss the abstract paintings.

Refreshments will be served.

This opening launches a simultaneous exhibit of new work by Ursula Cohen, twelve new paintings at the Café Monte Alto space and a retrospective of several years of Matthew Cohen’s and Ursula Cohen’s paintings at the Inspire Gallery, Inspire 2 Knit, 12 Yeaton Rd. Plymouth.

What’s unusual is that both artists have selected to have a silent auction of all the paintings, with a portion of the proceeds to benefit a charity, “Keep the heat on” and an art scholarship fund.

LET ART LIVE, is the title of the show, most importantly, ‘LET ART LIVE WITH YOU”. Artists work toward others seeing, re-acting, enjoying and understanding their view. Abstract expression in contemporary work is often evocative of real world people, places or events, so a connection must take place in the mind of the artist, but also in the mind of the viewer.

Please join us, you’re most welcome!

This is a great time to start some small, gift items & we have a text mitlet pattern in store for free with the purchase of one ball of yarn. We used Elastico print by Lana Grossa, come by & see how cute they are.
Summer time and the knitting is easy, well if you’re staying cool by the water or in AC.

We are air conditioned & having a cool blast with some fun scarves, flowers & embellishments.

We’re gearing up for some great knit a longs, first is Mrs Watson, written by Martina Behm of Hitchhiker fame. A great graphic short row wonder in Ultra Alpaca,(various gauges). Stop in & check it out. Oh, & by the way, Ultra Alpaca is in it’s 10^th year. Congrats on the best go to yarn ever Berroco.

Next up is the wonderful world of Mystery, sponsored by Mountain Colors, written by Mari Chiba. The Mystery knit a-long kits may be purchased here after Aug. 15, & the first clue goes up on Ravelry Sept 3. It’s a cowl, but that’s all we know, for now!

Take Berroco’s Mixer: wow, it’s lushness and shimmer, with cotton, viscose, poly & nylon, is gorgeous & yet machine washable. It’s changeable & varies from matte to shiny and color changes a bit as well. And on a

March is just around the corner & new SPRING yarns have started arriving…

Trendsetters New Zensation, Segue ribbons, Joy lots of ribbon & texture, Antico, eyelash, yes eyelash. New Cin Cin colors and Phoenix print colors.

Cottons, & linens, beautiful blends are all arriving in time to start the perfect spring scarf, cowl, shawl or top!

We’re working on the Manos sweater, still, but either Sat or Sun are great afternoons to make some progress on the larger projects.

February school vacation starts Feb 16^th,so

We’re offering a “choose your own project” on Thursday, bring a friend or two & get some knitting done or learn a new knit stitch or technique.

Ice, snow & cold, that’s what old man winter has dealt us, so it’s time to liven up your life with new knitting & crochet skills for 2015!

Crochet Weds afternoons… Kelly Mcaloon is teaching projects and skills. In February, it’s Beginner bag on Feb 11 & 25 at 2 PM

On Feb 4 & 18, Kelly is teaching advanced beginner crochet; a block by block with new stitches each week!

On Sunday Feb 8^th, We’re hosting another Bella Beads appearance , this time it’s a Sweetheart bracelet just in time for Valentine’s Day.

Saturday & Sunday afternoons are officially dedicated to sweater workshops & finishing techniques.

Feb. 1^st is Super Bowl Sunday, & we’ll make some knit bowls to felt! They’ll make interesting coffee table gifts.

Lastly, we’ll offer some Entrelac lessons on Thurs @ 2 pm with self striping yarns, make a great bag or scarf!

HO HO HO!

Yes, it is that time of year, long nights, hot cocoa and knitting. Finishing it before it needs to be wrapped & put under the tree!

Winter’s knocking on our door, almost a foot of snow in the last two days! It’s beautiful. Crisp & clear this morning, we hope you all had a great Thanksgiving, time for the mad rush to Holiday gifts and New Year’s plans.

We have both ready & waiting, first the gifts,

We’re offering a Kumi-Himo class taught by Susan Vachon on Sun. Dec. 14^th, from 12 – 3 PM. Kumi- himo is an ancient art of Japanese braiding, but with beads, it’s jewelry, bracelets, necklaces & all manner of great ideas. Sign up is now, $ 25 and class size is limited.

Next, we’re teaching 2 sox on 2 circulars just in time for Xmas presents, (this technique works for mittens, too).

On Dec. 11 & 18, @ 2PM ‘til 4:30, the really nice part of learning this process is finishing a pair at the same time.

Our plan for the New Year, we’re going to continue to offer inexpensive workshops, both for skill building and for help in your knitting, and CROCHET, too.

Lastly, Plans for our Spring Retreat are starting to shape up, April 2015 and we’ll be posting information here on the web, in store & locally as well. We’re hoping to engage some of you who haven’t tried one of our getaways, more news soon. Call the store, or stop in to discuss it with us.

Happy Thanksgiving to all..

It’s crunch time out in knitted gift land, but there’s still time for some great little gifts.

BEGINNING CROCHET

2 DAY CLASS

Tools: crochet hook # , scrap yarn at the start.

How to hold your yarn & the first steps.

We’ll start by using waste yarn to practice with the crochet hook & single crochet.

The instructor will demonstrate & then help everyone with theirs.

Learn the abbreviations & symbols of the beginning stitches.

We’ll start the travel bag project, once the class is comfortable with the stitches.

As you’re working, the instructor will show you how to match yarns with hooks and how to choose accent yarns.
