Have you stopped by RobynPandolph.com lately? If you have, you probably noticed all the changes. Not only are we now selling Desired Things, Bowood House, and St Remy de Provence, but new inventory from the shop in Galveston is being added daily.

There's new patterns available, like the Home Is . . . quilt shown above. If you stopped by my booth at Quilt Festival, then hopefully you saw the Eva quilt made out of the St Remy fabric and The True Love of Mine quilt made from Scarborough Fair.

Another new feature is the Studio Books section. It's already 2 pages full of books that I love--lots of design, sewing, and travel. I hope you like all the new changes! Don't forget to check back soon for new kits, vintage pieces, soaps, candles, and all the great things I've picked out for the shop in Galveston!

St. Remy de Provence

St. Remy, as I like to call it, has arrived 2 months early! It looks great with the tram roll hanging above it. I love this little line so much, I hope y'all do too. The patterns for Eva made with St Remy came in the mail a couple of days before the fabric. I'm still waiting on some solid black fabric to complete the kits for the Eva quilt, but you could always substitute it for something else.

Here's a larger picture of the Eva quilt. I love it so much, it took my breath away when it showed up for Quilt Festival. Wouldn't it be great on a little girl's bed? Now I'm just waiting for my die cutter to arrive so I can make kits for a Grandmother's Garden quilted bag out of St Remy.

Quilt Festival 2011

It's that time of year! We're cutting fat quarters, finishing applique blocks, and printing patterns. Oh, October is always the busiest month of the year. The store in Galveston will be open our usual hours Monday-Saturday 10am to 6pm. But we will also be open Sunday, October 30th noon - 4pm and Monday, October 31st (Halloween!) from 10am - 6pm. The week of Festival we will also be open on Sunday, November 6th noon - 4pm and Monday, November 7th 10am - 6pm. If you'd like to stop by after hours please give us a call (409-765-5772) to make an appointment.

ARToberFEST

I just want to let everyone know that tomorrow (Saturday, October 15th) and the next day (Sunday, October 16th) is the 14th annual ARToberFEST in Downtown Galveston! The festival will feature 125 quality artists and artisans. It's a really fun event because Postoffice Street (the street we're on) gets closed off and the artists get to put up tents right in the road. There is a $5 admission fee for everyone over 12 years old, but the proceeds go to the Galveston Island Humane Society. Can you think of anything better than that? And since ARToberFEST is happening right in front of the store, we're going to be open on Sunday too. I hope to see you there!

Now Showing: Susan Spjut

For those of you that have been in the shop, you might have seen my pelican painting (not pictured). Well, we acquired the painting from the Bogan Gallery a few months back. It's gotten so much attention that we are now showing a few more paintings by the same artist Susan Spjut.

Susan helped clean up the Gulf after the BP oil spill last summer. She was so inspired by Galveston and the bird life here that she painted this series.

Starting with a layer of newspaper with articles about the oil spill, she uses oil paints and oil from the actual spill to paint these beautiful birds. We are so lucky to have these great paintings in our shop.

We're all excited about ArtWalk tomorrow (Saturday, August 27th). Oh, and by the way, it is the 1 Year Anniversary of the Store Opening! New Hours

Due to traveling, the Robyn Pandolph Design Studio will be closed Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays for the next month. I will be out of the store from August 16th - September 15th. I will be traveling through Europe, and I'll be bringing back some treasures with me. Hannah and Jack will be running the shop while I'm abroad, so feel free to stop by and give them some company!

ArtWalk Tomorrow!

New Face in the Studio

If you've stopped by the shop within the last month than you've met Jack (full name Union Jack). He's our new 8 month old English Bulldog. He's still getting used to being a shop dog, but I think he really likes it

He'll show you around and tell you about all the new things to see.

He might even point out a couple of his favorite items.

Jack loves to play fetch, so if you see his ball around feel free to roll it across the floor for him.

But, really, most of the time he'll just be sleeping on the cool concrete floor.

Look What We Found!

We opened up the August issue of Romantic Homes Magazine and saw the Simpatico candles that we carry in the store. We love these hobnail candles, too. Oh, and they smell as good as they look.

Unique, Modern, and Timeless

While I was visiting Bath, England last April, I came across these beautiful purses by Tamara Fogle. She uses antique textiles (like German feed sacks, old British military tents, linen, and Indian cotton saris) and leather to create these amazing pieces. I bought one for myself right away and knew they would look great in the shop!

Something I love about Tamara's designs are the shapes and little accents that each bag has. This Westbourne bag has a big nob on top of the clasp, and it reminds me of an antique brass door nob.

On the right is another Westborne bag, but it's made out of German feed sacks. The Knot Tote on the left is made from antique British tent material. Each piece is one of a kind, and they almost feel like usable art.

I have the Lansdowne purse (the one in the back) and have loved it since the day I snatched it up in Bath. But that clutch is just calling my name.

We had a customer come in over the weekend and she told us that she owns three different styles of Tamara Fogle's bags, all of them from the German feed sacks. For her husband's birthday she got him the Explorer bag in the military tent fabric and he uses it for his laptop. We have the Explorer in the feed sacks, this piece is really amazing because it has two blue stripes going down the sides next to the seam.

I couldn't resist the ones made out of the vintage Indian sari fabrics. We already have scarves and quilts out of the Indian saris so I knew these bags would be great here. I hope you love the craftsmanship and attention to detail that Tamara Fogle puts into each design as much as I do.

Sneak Peek: Desired Things

I know it's been a while since I posted anything. Sorry everyone! But I'm coming back with a bang! Here is a sneak peek, from me to you, of my new fall line Desired Things. I've been playing with this fabric for a while now, and I just love it. I hope you love it too.

I'm just in love with this large floral print. I'm using it as a background for an appliquéd block right now. It would make a great duvet cover or backing fabric. It's only 45" but I'd gladly have a seam in the back just to show off this pretty piece.

This soft tonal fabric will be great for appliqué pieces or backgrounds.

The yellow is richer and more buttery in real life than the lemony yellow photographed. You can see what I mean in the yellow from the ad above. The yellow is my favorite part of the collection.

This small floral will be great for boarders and piecing.

Isn't this petite toile precious? I think it will be great in boarders and backgrounds.

Patriotic All Year

I've been decorating my own home with patriotic colors as long as I can remember. Here is a corner of the shop that I put together recently. I love how I can have an American flag, Union Jack, and a French flag all hanging from the same quilt rack!

I just got the tram roll last month. Doesn't it look great here?

This is a close up of the bed skirt.

Another recent find are these vintage red suitcases. The lining inside is bright pink! I just think they are fantastic.

I don't know if you can tell, but the oval frame has a bald eagle and crest on the top. The details are what makes everything work together.

Spring is in the Air

It's the perfect time of year in Galveston. The ocean breeze is cool and the sun is warm. I am happy to sit outside the shop and enjoy what little time of perfect weather we have right now. But, I've been daydreaming of spring in France, walking around the street markets. I love this little island, but sometimes I long for the tables stacked with flowers and fresh veggies that I've seen in Paris.

I stumbled upon this market when I was in Paris in January. The sweet fragrance drew me down the street.

I dream in these colors.

We just got in these great market baskets in the shop. Wouldn't it just be perfect with a bouquet sticking out of the top? Or maybe just a baguette and some leafy greens? I think it would be nice to throw in a beach towel, hop on a bike, and spend the day reading on the sand.

And here's another drool-worthy picture from the Parisian market. If Galveston had this, I would be one lucky girl!

The Jr. Junior League

We got a surprise visit on Sunday. A member from our local Junior League frantically came into the store asking for my advice. She had planned a Jr. Junior League event at a local coffee shop. Apparently there were some miscommunication and she didn't have enough supplies for the girls. They were making blankets for the Ronald McDonald House in Galveston. After a little bit of digging, I found extra Rue St. Germain from last spring's Quilt Market. Here's a couple pictures of the girls with their finished pieces.

The girls were very excited to show off the blankets!

It was a very nice surprise on Sunday.

London Adventure

I've finally taken the time to go through my pictures from my trip in January. Who would have thought it would take almost two months to get everything organized? Well, I guess when pictures take a backseat to appliqué, sewing, family, friends, and the shop! But, for those of you patiently waiting, here is one of my favorite shops in London.

The shop has all natural textiles. There are some vintage pieces (I bought an antique Union Jack there), but most of what they sell are new, unique fabrics from all over the world.

I'm sure everyone here loves fabric stores as much as I do. It's always great to find one that carries linens, cottons, wools, and silks all in one place.

I was a kid in a candy store!

Wouldn't you just just die if your stash room was as big as this shop?

I love the clothes line in the window display! I can't wait to go back and buy the whole shop!

Scarborough Fair is now Online!

Hi everybody! Things have been so busy around here. I just wanted to let everyone know that Scarborough Fair is now in our online shop!

I'll be adding some new patterns soon! I hope everyone loves the new line. I've seen the proofs for the next three lines and they are all beautiful! I can't wait for them to come out!

ArtWalk and Studio Tour!

I can't believe the Artist Studio Tour is already here! I've been running around trying to get everything ready. Everyone that stops by for the tour will be able to see my design wall with all the different things I'm working on. Why as quilters do we have to be working on so many projects simultaneously? There's always half a quilt here, a few appliquéd blocks there, and lots of scraps and tiny swatches of fabric everywhere! Oh, so much is always going on.

Has 6 weeks gone by already? I wasn't even here for the last ArtWalk, poor Martin and Hannah had to take care of the store for me! So this will be the first ArtWalk of 2011 that I'm attending. It looks like it will be a beautiful night, so I hope there is a great turnout. See you there!

Bone and Cloth

Pick up any interior design magazine and you'll find antlers, real or faux. It might seem like a silly trend for women who are married to hunters. Apartment Therapy did a post about it recently.

I installed lattice to frame the front windows and doorway. The antlers are hung in one of the windows. To soften the antlers, I framed one pair with an antique wooden frame. The other pair, I draped a vintage rosary I found in a Parisian flea market.

I really like the contrast of the deer head with the tissue paper flower lights and the little treasures in the locker basket.

These beautiful linen bags arrived from Paris this week. I have the medium size bag (the natural color bag on the bench) and love it. I use it for traveling and shopping flea/antique markets. I picked mine up a couple of years ago at Scarlet Jones in Melbourne, Australia. There are so many different things coming into the shop right now that I can't even keep them all straight. I promise to blog more so you can see it all!

Lisa Stickley in the Studio!

The packages are arriving from across the pond! One of the first big boxes is from Lisa Stickley London. She designs custom pieces for Anthropologie (one of my favorite stores). We have her whole collection of bags now.

I love the black and white print. It almost looks like rickrack. The bags are made out of matt coated canvas.

Look how perfect these little make up bags are! There's little compacts and luggage tags, too. How fabulous would it be to have a whole travel set out of one of these prints? I'd feel like an old Hollywood star.

Artist Studio Tour

Next month I am participating in a Galveston Artist Studio Tour! I'm so excited. I'll have a quilt hanging in the Bogan Gallery (2217 Postoffice Street, or right across the street from me!).
