Sa pagbukas ng bagong taon, masayang sinalubong ng PHLPost Area 6 ang bagong tagapamahala ng Area na si Area Director Bernardito V. Gonzales.

Base sa PHLPost Personnel Order No. 19-25 dated December 2, 2019, opisyal na dumating si Area Director Gonzales sa PHLPost Administrative Center noong January 27, 2020. Nagkaroon ng simpleng programa upang makita at makilala ng mga taga Admin Center ang bagong Area Director.

Nagsimula ang postal service journey ni Director Gonzales noong 1974. Malawak na ang karansasan sa serbisyo postal. Twenty four years na syang naglilingkod bilang Direktor ng Korporasyon Pang Koreo at talagang masabi natin na kabilang sya sa mga “seasoned directors”. Prioridad ni Dir. Gonzales ang pag improve ng mail delivery. Aniya, “kung efficient at maganda ang delivery, madali lang ang pag market ng produkto at serbisyo natin.” Kaya sa kanyang administrasyon, asahan natin na tutukan ng maigi ang mail delivery system na sa gayon man ma hikayat ang tiwala ng business at individual mailing patrons.

Serbisyong Postal - 251 Taon Na!

Masayang idinaos ng PHLPost Area 6 ang ika-251 taon ng Serbisyong Postal dito sa Pilipinas noong November 21-23, 2018.

Sinimulan ng Dumaguete City Post Office ang selebrasyon sa pagkakaroon nito ng Philatelic Exhibit noong November 21 sa Robinsons Place Dumaguete City, sa koordinasyon sa Dumaguete City Philatelic Stamp Club, kung saan ibinida dito ang mga sari-saring Stamp Collections.

Noong November 21 din, pormal na tinurn-over ni PHLPost Area Director Atty. Benjie S. Yotoko ang Commemorative Stamps na gumugunita ng ika-100 taong anibersaryo ng Municipality of Estancia na tinaguriang Center for Commercial Fishing at “Alaska of the Philippines”.

Festive ang atmosphere sa mga Capital Post Offices ng Area 6 simula November 21 hanggang November 23. May mga balloons at makukulay na dekorasyon sa paligid. Nag set-up din ang bawat Capital Post Office ng snack bars sa teller counters para sa mga kostumer nito bilang pasasalamat sa patuloy na suporta at paggamit ng serbisyong postal.

Ang highlight ng selebrasyon ay naganap noong November 23. Nagkaroon ng isang Thanksgiving Mass sa Brgy. Zamora-Melliza covered court with Fr. Afredo Marmolejo of Millhill Formation House as main celebrant.

Sumunod dito ang pagpasiklaban ng galing sa “cheers and yells” ng mga postal teams kung saan nag wagi ang Team Iloilo City Post Office.

May health and wellness activity din na ginanap sa Office ng Area Director. Sa koordinasyon sa Mary Kay, nagkaroon ng lecture at libreng hand spa, facial, and makeup. At habang nag re-relax at nagpapa “beauty” ang mga babaeng empleado, may 3-on-3 basketball tournament naman para sa mga lalaki. 13 teams ang lumahok at naging very exciting ang elimination rounds hanggang sa championship game kung saan nagwagi ang Team Negros Island sa Team Iloilo City Post Office sa score na 21-20.

Nagpatuloy ang kasiyahan sa hapon, sa pag diwang ng Singing Contest at Macho Gay Contest. Naging kakaiba man ang Singing Contest (dahil ito ay hindi paggalingan ng boses, kundi pababaan ng Videoke Score), game na game pa rin ang ating mga participants. Ironically, ang nagtala ng pinakamababang score ay si Ginoong Genefel Pal-ing ng Team Negros Oriental, na may worldclass ang boses, daig pa ang isang professional singer. At second place naman si Melvin Estrada ng Team Iloilo, na isa ding napakahusay na mang-aawit at performer.

Sa kakaibang Singing Contest pa lang ay entertained na entertained na ang mga empleado at bisita, pero mas napahiyaw ang mga ito nang rumampa na ang mga kalahok sa Macho Gay 2018. Walong tunay na lalaki ang nag-anyong babae para sa pagkakataong maiuwi ang Macho Gay 2018 crown at cash prize na Php 1,500.00.

Sa production number pa lang ay parang bibigay na ang stage sa mga ipinakita ng mga contestants. Agaw-pansin ang mga damit ng mga contestants, at talaga namang nakakaakit ang kanilang kagandahan.

Nag bida ang bawat-isa sa kani-kanilang talento - may kumanta, sumayaw, at nag interpretative dance.

Pero ang pinaka bida sa lahat ay si Larry Sillorequez ng Team Iloilo na itinilagang Mr. Macho Gay 2018 at humakot ng awards gaya ng Mr. Head Turner, Mr. Hot Legs, Best in Sports Wear, Best in Casual Wear, at Best in Talent.

Buong-pusong pinasalamatan ni Area Director Atty. Benjie S. Yotoko ang lahat na empleado na sumuporta at lumahok sa selebrasyon, ang mga Macho Gay contestants na talagang nagbigay ng isang napaka entertaining na palabas; ganun din ang Brgy. Zamora Council sa pamumuno ni Punong Barangay Peter B. Abadiano, na pinahintulutan tayong magamit ang Brgy. Zamora-Melliza Covered Court, ang Philippine Postal Credit Cooperative 6 sa pamumuno ni Engr. Rolly Mamon, na nagbigay ng cash assistance, at Postmaster General and CEO Joel L. Otarra at APMG for AdFin Maura M. Baghari-Regis na sinuportahan at binigyan ng pondo ang selebrasyong ito.

Malakas man ang ulan nung hapon na iyon, hindi ito naging hadlang sa tagumpay ng kaganapan. Nagsiuwian ang lahat na may dala-dalang maganda at masayang alaala.

Mabuhay ang serbisyong postal. Mabuhay ang Korporasyong Koreo ng Pilipinas!

PHLPOST AREA 6 IPINAGDIWANG ANG WORLD POST DAY

Ang PHLPost Area 6, sa pamumuno ni Atty. Benjie S. Yotoko, Pansamantalang Tagapamahala, Kanlurang Bisayas, ay ipinagdiwang ang World Post Day noong ika-9 ng Oktubre 2018.

Ang World Post Day ay idineklara nang 1969 Universal Postal Congress sa Tokyo upang magdagdag kaalaman at kamalayan tungkol sa papel ng serbisyo postal sa negosyo at buhay ng tao. Sa espesyal na araw na ito, binibigyan din ng pagkikilala at halaga ang mga kontribusyon ng mga empleyado sa serbisyo.

Kaya, ngayong World Post Day, nagkaroon ng Bloodletting, Laboratory Taking, Breast Cancer

Awareness Seminar and Screening, Bomb Awareness Seminar and Wellness activities ang PHLPost Area 6 para sa mga empleyado nito. Inimbita din at binigyan ng Katibayan ng Katapatan ang ilan sa mga empleyado bilang pagkilala sa kanilang walang patlang at kasiya-siyang paglilingkod sa serbisyo publiko. Emosyonal na nagpahiwatig si Gg. Marilyn Requiro, Postmaster ng Banga, Aklan, sa ngalan ng mga awardees, ng kanyang naging karanasan, at taos-pusong nagpasalamat sa serbisyo postal ganun din sa pagkilala ng kanilang naging kontribusyon sa serbisyo.

Lubos nagpasalamat si Atty. Yotoko sa lahat na tumulong upang gawing makasaysayan ang pagdiwang ng World Post Day dito sa PHLPost Area 6, katulad ng Philippine Red Cross, TESDA, Medicus Medical Center, Medicus Diagnostic Center, at syempre ang mga empleyado na nag donate ng dugo at nakibahagi sa selebrasyon.

PHLPost 6 Takes Part in NFA’s 43rd Anniversary

On invitation by National Food Authority Acting Regional Manager, Bernardo M. Asetre, PHLPost 6 took part in the sports activities in celebration of NFA’s 43rd Anniversary on September 23, 2015.

NFA is one of the major DMTS clients of Phlpost 6, and its invitation was warmly accepted by PHLPost Area Director Fabiolita P. Ferraris, seeing the gesture as a means to foster camaraderie and sportsmanship among the employees of the two GOCCs, as well as to strengthen business relations with NFA.

Our players had very little time to practice for the sports events, but that wasn’t obvious when they volleyed and tossed, spiked, blocked, and dug, to win against the NFA spikers in a thrilling mixed volleyball game in the morning.

In the afternoon, our basketball players’ skills and mental alertness were tested to the limits when they went up against the bigger and brawnier players of NFA. Falling behind during the first two quarters, dread, apprehension, and excitement were felt by our players.

Tension filled the air, but with the excellent coaching of
Ms. Roueme Gertrude “Aweng” Supetran, and with our cheering squad headed by Ms. Carlotta Caillo egging them on, our players persevered, kept their eyes on the ball, and rallied to claim the victory in the end. It was a very close match, with PHLPost winning by just one point!

For PHLPost 6 participants, it was truly a day worth remembering. And not only because of the victory. Friendships blossomed that day, too.

PhlPost Area 6 Joins the 15th Caravan of Government Services

PHLPost Area 6, represented by a Postal Team headed by PHLPost 6 Administrative Officer Elsa Pameroyan and Marketing Specialist Tess Planco, participated in the 15th Caravan of Government Services spearheaded by the Office of the Ombudsman on August 18, 2015 at Toboso, Negros Occidental.

Letter Carriers from Escalante City, Toboso and
Calatrava Post Offices donned PHLPost t-shirts and boarded their motorcycles to join the motorcade from Toboso National Highway up to the Toboso Cultural Sports Center to officially mark the start of the caravan.

The caravan, the 15th in 7 years, provided an opportunity for Phlpost to educate the mailing public of the New Postal ID and the importance of the postal service amidst the emergence of modern technology. A booth was set up to entertain inquiries about the New Postal ID and address other mailing concerns.

PHLPost was also given the chance to award the Certificates of Recognition and cash worth Php 30,000 each to the 2014-2015 Letter Writing Project grand draw winner Mechael R. Belango of Calatrava I Central School and his teacher Ms. Juanita P. Gatuslao. A Plaque of Appreciation was, likewise, given to Principal II Fidela T. Claro of Calatraval I Central School for her active support to the PHLPost Sulat Mulat Project.

The caravan was very well received by the

public. More than 120 people were served by our Postal Team that day, and some of them went to San Carlos City Post Office the next day to apply for the new Postal ID.

To Deputy Ombudsman for the Visayas Paul Elmer M. Clemente and Acting Director Philip C. Camiguing, thank you for inviting us to participate in such a worthy activity. So great is the response that we couldn’t help but look forward to the next Caravan of Government Services.

Iloilo City Post Office Joins the 75th Iloilo City Charter Day Parade

Iloilo City Post Office, the premier post office in Area 6, made its presence felt when it joined the 75th Iloilo City Charter Day Parade on August 25, 2015.

Iloilo City Post Office Postmaster Rolly M. Mamon, headed the group of 30 letter carriers and tellers, marching in merriment from Gaisano City La Paz to Freedom Grandstand, and proudly carrying the banner of Philippine Postal Corporation.

Iloilo City officially became a chartered city on August 25, 1937, when it merged with the towns of La Paz, Arevalo, and Molo. Iloilo City has come a long way since then, and we are so proud to witness and be part of the festivities marking its 75th year as a chartered city.

Dingle Post Office Reopens at New Site

Dingle Post Office resumes its postal transactions through a ceremonial opening at its new office at the newly constructed Dingle municipal building. The event was graced by the presence of no less than the Vice Mayor of Dingle who warmly ushered the postal representatives headed by PHLPost 6 Area Director Fabiolita P. Ferraris, CESO III.

For the past few months, although delivery services in Dingle never ceased, postal window transactions were being entertained at Dueñas Post Office. With the opening of the post office at the new building, Dingleanons can now instantly avail themselves of the postal products to their convenience. They don’t need to travel to the next town, that is Dueñas, to claim their parcels and other mail items, either.

Director Ferraris conveyed her appreciation to Mayor Dr. Rufino Palabrica III for the accommodation of PHLPost in its new office. In return, the lady director pledged an efficient and prompt postal service to his constituents.

Municipal department heads, school principals and the head of a state college also attended the event. PHLPost Department Manager Archie Gonzales, AdFin Chief Atty. Benjie S. Yotoko, Quality Control Officer Ernie Jun Tenizo, and a group of postmasters from adjacent municipalities likewise were also present in support of the activity.

PHLPost 6 Area Director Fabiolita P. Ferraris Graces the Opening of a Postal Station in Valderrama, Antique

The LGU-operated Postal Station is now open for business in Valderrama, Antique, and no less than PHLPost Area 6 Director Fabiolita P. Ferraris and Valderrama Mayor Mary Joyce M. Roquero, together with PHLPost Marketing Specialist Tess Planco, Quality Control Officer Noel Somes, and Bugasong Postmaster Henry Sevigan, graced the ceremony on June 3, 2015.

Although delivery services are maintained in Valderrama, window transactions are being entertained in Bugasong Post Office, which is around 18 km from Valderrama. With the opening of the Postal Station in Valderrama, the 18,000 + residents can now enjoy the convenience of posting their mails right in their own hometown. Director Ferraris expressed her gratitude to the good mayor for franchising the postal business in the interest of the service.

June 1, 2015. PHLPost Area 6 Director Fabiolita P. Ferraris starts the month of June with the ceremonial turnover of the Commemorative Stamps and other Philatelic Items celebrating 150 years of the Archdiocese of Jaro to His Excellency, Angel N. Lagdameo, D.D., Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Jaro.

The Commemorative Stamps, which feature the Façade of Jaro Cathedral and the Image of Nrtra. Sra. De la Candelaria (purportedly the second oldest image of our Lady in the Philippines), fittingly capture the colorful and rich history of the Archdiocese of Jaro, the 5th oldest diocese in the Philippines.

Director Ferraris congratulates His Excellency for leading the laity towards a greater love of God and thanks him for the honor of making PHLPost a part of such a glorious and momentous celebration with the issuance of the Commemorative Stamps.

In her speech, the lady director talked about the timeless beauty of commemorative stamps, and thanked the honorable mayor for allowing PHLPost to capture the celebration of its Centennial Founding Anniversary, and the town’s pride, the Muscovado Industry, in a commemorative stamp. PHLPost Area 6 Delivers Love In An Express

On board motorcycles and mail vans, Letter Carriers from all the Capital Post Offices in PHLPost Area 6 delivered flowers, cakes, pastries, balloons, stuffed toys, love notes, and good vibes, on February 13 and 14, in celebration of Valentine’s Day.

In an interview with ABS-CBN on February 13, 2015, Ms. Tess Planco, PHLPost 6 Marketing Specialist, talked about the importance of “surprises” in every relationship. Even in this age of modern technology, Ms. Planco said that while text messages and emails are very popular during these times, sending gifts through the post office is nonetheless a heartwarming gesture that will never fail to melt even the hardest of hearts. Roughly 400 clients availed themselves of PHLPost’s Love In An Express delivery service, catching their loved ones in surprise.

PHLPOST AREA 6 GETS READY FOR THE NEW PID

Fresh from their training in Manila, Training Officer Rebekah Bedia and IT Officer Ma. Anabelle Cahandig, re-echoed the guidelines and procedure on the processing of the new PID to selected Postmasters and Tellers in the area on January 21-23, 2015. Ms. Maribel G. Lenon of Postal Payment Services Division and Sheila Labordo from FILMETRICS, our partner in the New PID business, likewise shared their knowledge and skills on this new undertaking.

In attendance were the Postmasters of all the Capital POs, the Postmasters of identified PID capturing sites, and Postmasters of Post Offices with low volume of PID transactions. They were trained on the processing of PID applications and the proper handling of the data capture station which includes a computer desktop, laptop or other computing device, fingerprint scanner, digital camera, and electronic signature pad.

The new wallet-sized PID is printed on PVC and is infused with layers of digital security. It comes with a unique PRN (Postal Reference Number), QR (Quick Response) Code, which means that its authenticity can readily be verified, and a magnetic stripe that increases its credibility and acceptability.

The New PID costs P414.40, inclusive of delivery fee and VAT.

Clients who wish to apply for the New PID need to personally present themselves at the Post Office and submit the following New PID Basic Requirements: 1) Duly filled-out PID application form (in 3 copies) 2) Original copy of Birth Certificate from NSO or from the Local Civil Register with current Official Receipt 3) Any of the following: - Barangay Certificate - Billing statement - Police/NBI Clearance.

Currently, the New PID is available in all capital POs in Area 6.

PHLPost 6 Closes Deal with LGU-Laua-an for the Issuance of Commemorative Stamps

To promote its Centennial Founding Anniversary and Muscovado Industry, the Municipality of Laua-an in the Province of Antique has expressed its intent to PHLPost for the issuance of commemorative stamps and other philatelic products.

The honorable Mayor of Laua-an, Mayor Francisco G. Baladjay, Jr., visited the Administrative Center of PHLPost 6, today, January 15, 2015, to personally meet with Area Director Fabiolita P. Ferraris and to affix his signature on the Memorandum of Agreement.

DUMAGUETE APM RAFAEL QUIRANTE TURNS OVER COMMEMORATIVE STAMPS TO SPU-DUMAGUETE

Pursuant to the letter of Saint Paul University Dumaguete President Sr. Nintha Lucilla Baldado, SPC, PHLPost issued commemorative stamps and other philatelic products to celebrate 100 years of living and blazing in God’s light.

Saint Paul University Dumaguete is the first Catholic School to have found a home in Dumaguete.

Dumaguete PO APM Rafael Quirante, Jr. turned over the Commemorative stamps and other philatelic items to SPUD representative Sister Ellen Lorenzana on December 12, 2014.

PHLPost 6 Reaches Out to Senior Citizens

December 23, 2014. As part of its Christmas celebration, PHLPost 6 Administrative Center, reached out to 44 Senior Citizens housed in ASILO de Molo on December 23, 2014. Headed by Executive Assistant Georgette Vee and Acting Budget Officer Barry Balasa, OAD, Personnel, and Accounting Staff, brought gifts and good cheer to the once young.

It’s All In The Head: A One-of-a Kind Christmas Party

December 23, 2014. One day before the start of the Christmas break (for most agencies and private entities, that is), PHLPost-6 Administrative Center, together with Iloilo City Post Office, celebrated its Christmas Party in style. PHLPost 6 officers and staff gamely came in headpieces in all shapes, sizes and colors, transforming themselves into male and female versions of Santa Clause, Disney characters, heroes and heroines, elegant fairy princesses, mythical gods and goddesses, or elegant men and women of royal blood. What a dazzling sight, indeed!

Lending more fun to the event were the Talent Show, PHLPost’s version of Pera or Bayong, and Battle of the Tuneless which showcased the tuneless singing of 5 overconfident ladies and gentlemen.

But amidst all the excitement, AD Fabiolita Ferraris, in her Christmas message, reminded everyone that “Christmas is not just about parties, merrymaking or bonuses, but it is about receiving Jesus in our hearts and sharing him with others.” She hoped that everyone would learn a lot from the beautiful story of Christmas, and be thankful always from small blessings.

Door prizes were randomly given that night, and though not all got lucky to receive a prize, everyone came home with a box full of happy memories. The event, coordinated by the vivacious Ms. Georgette Vee (Ms. Santa Claus that night), was truly one of its kind in PHLPost Area 6.

SULAT MULAT UPDATE: 85,611 Pieces of National Teachers Stamps Sold in Three Months

Only halfway through the duration of the Sulat Mulat Project (which runs from September 2014 to March 2015), PHLPost Area 6 has already sold a total of 85, 611 pieces of National Teachers Stamps, at the end of 2014, exceeding the Area’s target of 80,000 pieces set by the Central Office for the project by 7%. Area Director Fabiolita Ferraris, together with the Marketing Team, headed by Ms. Tess Planco, personally met with the Postmasters, soliciting their commitment of not less than 3,000 pieces per post office. Representations with the Department of Education were also made to ensure the support of the entire DepEd community.

The Office of the Area Director Kicks Off the Christmas Celebrations in the Area

December 16. 2014. No less than the Office of Area Director Fabiolita Ferraris, kicked off the Christmas celebrations in PHLPost Area 6. Director Ferraris and staff, in various shades of green, shared a sumptuous meal of vegetable salad, shrimp salad, Italian and creamy pasta, pizza, chicken and brownies (all ordered with love from the resto, of course!). Traditional Christmas carols blared in the background, making the event more festive.

The happy group, with special guests AdFin Chief Atty. Benjie S. Yotoko and Training Officer Rebekah Bedia, then distributed gifts to every Section in the Administrative Center, merrily singing carols as they went.

In celebration of the National Deaf Awareness Week on November 10-16, 2014, SPED-Integrated School for Exceptional Children, represented by CHIS Coordinator Dorothy S. Tarol, Ph.D., LRGC, presented a Certificate of Appreciation to PHLPost in recognition of its unwavering support to the deaf children and adults in order for them to become useful and productive members of society on November 10, 2014.

Ms. Georgette Vee, the beautiful and energetic Executive Assistant of PHLPost Area 6 Director Fabiolita P. Ferraris, received the award in behalf of Director Ferraris.

Chairman Cesar N. Sarino Makes A Side Trip to PHLPost-6 Administrative Center

“The Post Office has gone a long way.” This was PHLPost Chairman of the Board Cesar N. Sarino’s opening statement during his very short visit to PHLPost-6 Administrative Center on November 17, 2014. Chairman of the Board Cesar N. Sarino was in Iloilo City for a different purpose but took the time to meet with PHLPost Area 6 Director Fabiolita P. Ferraris and other PHLPost 6 officials.

The good chairman said that while it has not been an easy three years, he is happy to note that the “direction PHLPost is heading to has now become clearer”. However, “there is still much to be done”, the Chairman emphasized. For one thing, “the Post Office needs to look competitive”, the reason for the repairs, repainting and face-lifting of Post Offices nationwide.

In Area 6, 30 facelifting and repair projects have been targeted by the end of 2014, and 28 of which have already been completed at the end of the third quarter this year. Chairman Sarino also stressed the importance of internet connectivity nationwide.

In Area 6, 36 Post Offices now have internet connectivity; 17 Post Offices are now accepting electronic Postal Money Order transactions, 12 Post Offices have Bayad Center outlets, and 24 Post Offices/Post Office Counters can now process walk-in electronic business mails.

Chairman Sarino ended his visit with a statement of gratitude. “Whatever we have done should be credited to you”, he said, referring to the postal officials and employees. “Thank you for all the things you’ve done for the corporation.” While the visit took less than an hour only, it was nevertheless a moving experience for all who had the opportunity to listen to the man who helped transform the Post Office.

AD Ferraris Meets with LGU Heads For Possible Business Deals

November 4, 2014. PHLPost 6 Area Director Fabiolita P. Ferraris made personal visits to the local government units of Mina, Dingle, Passi, and San Enrique, to further discuss with the Local Chief Executives the benefits of establishing a Postal Station in the municipality.

“In LGUs which do not have a regular post office, and where delivery services are limited, the LGU-operated postal station can easily meet the mailing needs of the people, while allowing the LGU to generate additional revenues at the same time”, Director Ferraris emphasized.

San Enrique Mayor Ramona Go pledged to start the operation of the Postal Station early next year, while Mina Mayor Rey Grabato requested for more time as he would still need to refer the proposal to the Sangguniang Bayan.

Director Ferraris also paid a visit to Dingle Mayor Rufino Palabrica to request for a municipal-paid employee to be detailed at Dingle Post Office, currently manned by a lone Letter Carrier who is also acting as the Officer-in-Charge.

At the end of the day, Director Ferraris was hopeful that LGU heads would see her business proposal also as a means of furthering partnership with Local Government Units especially in linking people anywhere in the world.

PHLPost 6 Area Director Fabiolita P. Ferraris Talks About The New Post Office and the Importance of Letter Writing in the Midst of Technological Advances in LGU-Miagao

November 3, 2014. “Do we not need letters to be sent anymore? Has the new age forgotten about personal touch and feel? Do we really have to depend on technology now and ignore the fact that we still have hands not just for typing but also for writing which makes it more real? Do you still greet your friends, family members or colleagues with cards on special occasions and send it via the post office?” These are just a few questions veteran Area Director Fabiolita P. Ferraris, CESO III, asked the officials and employees of LGU-Miagao during her speech in the flag raising ceremony of the local government unit on November 3, 2014 with the theme Postal Consciousness.

The invitation of the Chief Executive Officer of the town, Mayor Macario N. Napulan, M.D., was timely, as PHLPost has just celebrated World Post Day by sponsoring simultaneous letter writing activities throughout the country, and will be celebrating Postal Consciousness Week this second week of November. Director Ferraris took the invitation as an opportunity to talk about the importance of writing letters in the midst of technological advances, the importance the postal service brings to the community, as well as the many changes happening in the post office today.

Director Ferraris emphasized that while “emails have proven amazing to business, where bottleneck competitions and survival of the fittest become the name of the games”, such have brought a decline in effective communication where messages are written in short-cut forms, internet slangs, and chat abbreviations. And besides, the same cannot be said of personal correspondence as there is a different kind of excitement upon the receipt of a letter, handwritten on a beautiful stationery, the words emotionally expressed to outpour the mood of the writer.

The beautiful lady director further said that “Letters do not always bring good news, but it concerns you and it is all about you, and that’s what really matters”. And she posed this challenge to everyone: ”It's time now to start writing again! Let us teach and inspire our young generation to appreciate the value of writing not only for sentimental reason but for better communication.”

But, of course, this does not mean that technology will not have a place in PHLPost anymore. In fact, as Director Ferraris said, “many changes are happening in the postal service”, and many of these changes make use of communications technology. PHLPost has now expanded its products and services to include financial servicing and logistics. It now offers electronic money transfers, accepts payments of PHLHealth remittances and bills, and letters, too, can now be tracked and traced in the privacy of homes with the use of the internet. Soon the Postal ID will work like an ATM Machine Card and can be verified online. Director Ferraris encouraged everyone to go and visit the post office now for great things can start at the tip of the writing pen.

Post Offices in Area 6 Get A Facelift

In line with the rebranding of PHLPost, 30 facelifting and repair projects have been targeted this year.

At the end of the third quarter, 28 projects have already been completed. 20 POs in Aklan, Guimaras, Antique, Iloilo, and Capiz are now sporting PHLPost’s signature logo and colors, while 4 POs in Iloilo and Roxas City have undergone repairs of ceiling and leaking roofs. Except for Laua-an, which was repainted through the efforts of Bugasong Postmaster Henry Sevigan (who convinced Mayor Francisco Baladjay, Jr. of LGU-Laua-an to fund the repainting of the post office), the facelifting of the other Post Offices is corporate-funded.

The Training Rooms in Bacolod City Post Office and Administrative Center were repainted and renovated in the middle of this year to serve as venue for the Area’s various training programs, meetings, and conferences. Since its renovation, the Administrative Center Training Room has already accommodated two training programs, the orientation on the IPS Tracking and Walk-in eBMS with APMG for Operations Robert Mondoñedo in August 2014, and the Trainors’ Training on eBMS, and several meetings with Postmasters and Clusterheads.

The POs new look is seen to improve corporate image and increase PO visibility, attracting more customers and generating more revenues in the process.

PHLPost Area 6’s Best Bets to the Nationwide On-the-Spot Stamp Design Contest

Recognizing the importance of celebrating the visit of Pope Francis in the country, particularly in Yolanda-stricken areas, PHLPost has launched a Nationwide On-the-Spot Stamp Design Contest in two categories, the Student Category and the Professional Category. In Area 6, the contest was held on October 27 and 28, 2014, at Robinson’s Iloilo and Robinson’s Roxas (Capiz), respectively.

Equipped with imagination, 96 students and professional artists were given two hours to interpret the contest theme A Nation of Mercy and Compassion through beautiful artworks. Notable personalities PG Zoluaga (Local Artist and Executive Council Member of NCCA), Liby Limoso (Academic Coordinator for Fine Arts, University of San Agustin), Gerard Habana (Member, Alumni Community Theatre, UPV, and Former President, Theater Arts Guide, UPV), Rodolfo Libiano (Member, Arts Association of Capiz), Mervin Orola (HS Art Teacher), and Narciso Francisco (BS Industrial Ed Major in Architectural Drafting) were invited by PHLPost Area 6 Director Fabiolita P. Ferraris to judge the entries for their originality, relevance to the theme, visual impact, and artistic method/design.

These winning entries shall be submitted to the Central Office to compete with the winning entries from other Areas, and from which the top two entries in each category shall be selected to be featured in the stamps that will be issued and launched in January 2015, in commemoration of the Papal visit. A special souvenir frame, which shall house the winning designs on stamps, shall be given to the Holy Father.

All entries in Area 6 shall be featured in the forthcoming Philatelic Stamps Exhibit.
