Skirtin' the issue!

Spring/Summer 2008 sees a restyling of the skirt. This popular fashion piece has been updated and refreshed with a fuller look. Not to be confused with the unflattering balloon skirts of last season, this year, the skirt emphasizes your shape in a good way.

And what's great about this skirt, is that it works for all body types. For example, if you're a slender woman, choose a skirt with a wide waistband to show off your skinny middle. And if you're a woman with curvy hips, ample thighs, or a bit of a belly, choose a full skirt that sits below the navel. And don't worry about highlighting your "trouble areas" because the new full skirt actually camouflages them! Today's full skirts aren't quite as full as the circle skirts of years past. What's more, when worn just to the knee, they have a slimming effect. For a trendy twist on this look, remember to strike a balance; with volume on bottom, go slim on top.

Oh, you beautiful doll!

Never before has the term "doll-like" been more fitting. Gwen Stefani has coined the term and turned this childhood fantasy into a reality with the introduction of her latest fragrance launch, Harajuku Lovers.

Stefani's Harajuku Lovers collection fragrance will debut in September 2008. For the project, Stefani created dolls based on herself and her four backup singers, Love, Angel, Music and Baby �?? and turned them into scent bottles. She says of her latest fragrance venture:

"I didn't think this project would actually come to life." "The idea that Coty would let me do five different fragrances for Harajuku Lovers was a fantasy. [But] it really had to be five, because that's what the world is. Each girl has her own personality and sense of style. We're all saying something different with unique personalities."

The scents are all inspired by Stefani's views of her backup singers. Love is described as "sweet, caring, free-spirited and always off in her own little world." Lil' Angel is "constantly looking out for others," but is no saint. Music is "always looking to make someone laugh" and is "charismatic." Baby is "enticing in her frilly innocence." (And, naturally, G is the leader of the pack.)

The scents will each be available in two sizes: $45 for 30 ml. and $25 for 10 ml. A coffret, which includes solid perfume versions of all five, will be on counter later this fall as a permanent addition to the collection and will retail for $60.

I'm uber excited to see what Gwen has up for sleeve for this fragrance launch. I absolutely loved her L.A.M.B. fragrance and I hope that this one will be just as great. Do you think Harajuku Lovers will be a "hit" or a "miss"?

I thought that this would be a cute little addition to the site �?? It'll be a monthly feature on my latest product obsessions (some that I own and some that I wish I owned). I hope to purchase all of these items soon, but there's only so much I can spend on a broke college student budget, LOL. But, I have to tell you, Zoom Lash mascara is wonderful. Much to my surprise Kimora and Co. will be headlining St. Louis Fashion Week this year. Yay! Scheduled for March 24-30, St. Louis Fashion Week will bring in Miss Fabulosity herself, Kimora Lee Simmons, as well as designers Rachel Pally, Black Halo and Yana K.

In addition, Kimora, who grew up in St. Louis, and her entire reality-show production crew for �??Kimora: Life in the Fab Lane�?? will be in the week before Fashion Week officially begins to kick off the festivities. M.A.C. Encounters!

This past weekend I went to a Fafi for M.A.C. event with my mom at our local Dillards store. It was so much fun. It was my first time ever going to a M.A.C. event or even getting my makeup done professionally (for that matter! LOL). I must say, I really enjoyed myself and I plan on attending as many events as I can in the future. M.A.C. has most definitely turned me into a die-hard fan now, so I'll surely be practicing my event look on the regular. And for as much as I spent on all that makeup, I better put it to good use too. LOL.
