Cozy DIY Standing Ghost Made with Felt, Fabric & Fall Charm

It might still be hot outside, but spooky season starts early around here—especially when it comes to handmade decor. This cozy standing ghost is the perfect project to kick off your Halloween crafting, using just a few easy supplies like felt, fabric, craft foam, creepy cloth, and a bit of imagination. I added little spiders, bats, and a soft creepy bow to give it a whimsical haunted feel.

Whether you're prepping early for fall markets, decorating your craft shelf, or just getting a head start on Halloween, this DIY ghost brings that soft, spooky charm that’s perfect for any handmade Halloween setup. BELOW IS THE SUPPLIES I USED MINUS THE WOOD ROUND AND THE SKEWER

✂️ Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Build the Ghost Base
Start by hot gluing skewers into your craft foam balls—this creates the “head” and support post for each ghost. I used three foam balls and three skewers to make a trio in different heights. Just cut two of the skewers to different lengths (short, medium, and tall) for variety.

2. Attach to the Wood Base
Using a pencil or small tool, make holes in your wooden rounds to fit the skewers. Add a little hot glue in the holes and press the skewers in firmly so your ghosts stand tall and stable.

3. Drape the Fabric
Take your white fabric (I used lightweight cotton), and gently drape it over each foam ball so it falls naturally to the base. Gather the fabric at the bottom where it meets the skewer, and use a rubber band to secure it around the “neck” of the ghost.

4. Add Creepy Cloth Layers
Next, do the same with creepy cloth—layering it right over the fabric. The soft, tattered texture gives the ghost a cozy but haunted look. Again, gather it at the base of the foam ball and secure with ribbon.

5. Tie It Up with Ribbon
I used a Halloween-themed spiderweb ribbon to tie around the base of the ghost’s head where the fabric gathers. This helps hold the layers in place and adds a cute decorative touch.

6. Create the Ghost Faces
Cut small eyes and a mouth from black felt and hot glue them onto the front of the fabric to bring each ghost to life. You can go cute, spooky, or even give each one its own expression!

7. Add the Finishing Touches
To finish each ghost, I hot glued a little black ribbon bow and Halloween twine bow to the front. Then I added a small plastic bat right in the center of the bow and glued tiny plastic spiders crawling across the creepy cloth.

I love how these little ghosts turned out—each one has its own personality, and the mix of soft fabric and spooky details gives them that perfect handmade Halloween charm. This project is simple, budget-friendly, and a great way to get a head start on fall decorating (even if it’s still summer!).

Midnight Sky Endtable

Hey Y'all Olivia here, today I am going share a makeover of a end table that I found at the store where I have a small booth at. the owner said I could paint it. It needed a little love, one of the handles were falling off and there was scratches and dings, so this is how it started out..

so with this end table I decided to go with country chic paints midnight sky which is a perfect navy blue color!

it took two coats like usual to get good coverage its always best to do two coats anyway so you don't have such a thin layer of paint! After that I waited for just long enough for it to be dry then I used a wet rag and small sanding block to distress in certain areas.

after I finished distressing the end table I finished the table in clear wax and painted the knobs in the liquid gold leaf!

I love how the end table turned out and the contrast between the gold leaf knobs and the navy blue looks great together.

How to update a table - Cut and Paste with Overlays

Today I am going to share how to update a old table by cutting and pasting some overlays onto it!

I entered a Fab Furniture Flipping Contest! It is a contest where a group of bloggers compete by updating and revamping furniture for prizes. There is different themes each month. This months theme is Cut n Paste with Overlays. And we use decorative panels to update the furniture.

Here is how my piece started out

Very brown with some scratches, it has tons of potential and can be a great piece but it just needs a little bit of love. That is where overlays comes in. For this piece I custom mixed a blue color and just kinda threw it together. This is how it came out

After I painted in the pretty beachy blue color I sanded it all down and distressed it around the edges and in the groves to give it a bit of a older look.

After all that I took the decorative panels and marked where I needed to cut the overlays to put on the table. To cut the panels I used a rotary cutter to ct them it was easy to cut and didn't take long at all. After they was cut I decided to not paint them and leave them white. and I used E 6000 glue to glue them in place and it worked wonderfully.

After all that was finished the only other thing that needed to be done was the table needed to be waxed! and that was it. That is how easy it was to update this table into something great!

shutter privacy screen makeover with Home Right finish max sprayer

"Spray It Pretty"

This Months The Fab Furniture Flippin' Contest® contest is sponsored by Homeright

So for my piece I chose to use the finish max sprayer on a shutter privacy screen that was picked up at a yard sale for $10! It started out looked pretty dirty and it was just time for a update

I decided to just used some Sherwin Williams latex paint to cover these in a light grey/white color

It was very easy to get the sprayer ready to go! all you had to do was make sure everything was attached well, and check to see how long it would take for the paint to come out of the sprayer with the tools that are provided with the sprayer. I needed to water mine down some so I did. After that i jumped right in and plugged up the sprayer to a ac outlet and got started. The finish was so smooth and it was so easy to use and fairly quick.

The first coat did go on really well but as you know most pieces need two coats for a full coverage, so I let the first one dry completely then finished it up!

The screen was old and chippy and crackle and has a lot of character so I didn't really have to do much to after that, but i took about 60 grit sanding sponge to it and sanded on all the raised areas to give it even more farmhouse feel!

And that is all I did to it! a fairly simple project that made a world of a difference and defiantly sprayed it pretty once again! I love how they turned out.

Buffet in Hollow Hill

Today I going to share a makeover of a buffet that needed a little tlc, There was scratches all over it and part of the handle was broken, but it was a great piece and super heavy and solid wood. This is what it looked like before!

I used one of Country Chic's paint newest fall colors called Hollow Hill on the piece. It is a dark green and just works perfectly for this buffet.

With the all in one decor paint it takes just two coats of paint to get good coverage depending on the piece, since it was dark it needed the two. After you are done you don't have to seal this paint if you didn't want to. But I choose to seal it for extra protection since it is a buffet.

So after it was done being painted I distressed this piece pretty heavily for a farmhouse look then finished it in natural wax.

I tried to save the original knobs but one was missing and one of the pulls was broken so I changed two of the pulls and found matching knobs for doors and painted them all in liquid gold leaf. It really pops on this dark green piece, I love how this turned out.

Vintage Flour Sack Fabric & A Chair

we found this old chair at a long yardsale and its very 70's, 80ish chair and very orange but This is how it started out...

Dirty, and orange colored wood with fabric that is so outdated it is faded.. So when a new store opened up near by I went to check it out and found a vintage flour sack that was already cut on one end and opened up..

I matched some of the blue color in the fabric that was faded to the country chic color bliss.

After that I lightly distressed around some of the edges to make it look like natural wear. And recovered the seat in the flour sack fabric.

And to make the seat a little more fluffy I used some foam for another chair seat I had but didn't have the chair anymore. I love how this chair turned out and love the vintage flour sack that would have probably say around or even got thrown away by someone!

FAB FURNITURE FLIPPIN CONTEST: Velvet Finishes

Have you ever had a piece of furniture that you started painting and get it all painted then your like well that is to plain and it needs something more. Well that is how it started with this little night stand. I was just going to paint it all white and distress it well that is not how it always goes, so this how it started.

This months contest works out really well for wanting to add a pop of color to something. This months sponsor is Velvet Finishes but all opinions are 100% mine!

This month I participated in the Fab Furniture Flippin’ Contest’s

“Colour My World” October contest sponsored by Velvet Finishes.

To started off with this night stand I did two coats of understated. The coverage was great, I even did a base coat on the drawers in the same color.

After that I order a darkish teal/green color called Tranquil. I covered the drawers in that color I did two coats again just to make sure I had good coverage.

So once all of that had time to dry and finish I used a sanding block to distress all the areas to give it a older look. I love how simple distress around the edges can give it so much character.

After all of that I finally finished the piece in Protect, which is a satin polyacrylic , which gives a little shine but not to much, its not over glossy!

I think the night stand turned out great and gives just the right amount of pop of color without it being to much for a room! so you can easily color your world with small pops of color and not have to go all out. So how would you color your world?

The Farmhouse Vanity

Today I have a make over of a vanity. It started out in pretty rough shape it didn't have the mirror that came on it, and there was some peeling veneer on the sides and the wood was so dry and it just needed helped. Sometimes when you get a piece of furniture you know what your going to do with it then when you start it, it don't go as planned? well this is how this one started out...

As you can see it needed help. I sanded down the places that needed it and got it as smooth as I could for painting, I added two coats of Vanilla Frosting to get good coverage.

After that on the inside of the vanity and and on the sides there was small indentions that were still kinda messed up, so I decided to use textured wall paper on the insides and on the sides of the vanity.

After that I distressed the whole piece very heavily for a old worn look, like it came right out of a barn!

then I used natural wax to finish everything off! I love how this turned out and how the textured wall paper gives it just a little extra pop for a little charm.

Farmhouse Feed Sack Chair

You ever see a piece of furniture and just automatically know how you want to re-finish it? That's how it was with this chair, it was found at a 10 mile long yard sale just sitting there waiting to be picked up and re-loved. It's just a basic brown chair but with awesome turned legs at the bottom and a horrible red fabric! I got it for a steal. So it started out like this...

I chose Country Chic's Paint in Vanilla Frosting for this chair. Used 2 coats for a good coverage then...

I let it dry enough til was tacky and used a wet rag to distress it in areas that I wanted, I went for heavily distressed so it had a more farmhouse look as for seat I decided to use this vintage feed sack that once help turkey feed in it for the fabric. Which I also found at the 10 mile long yard sale!

After I did all of that I sealed the chair natural wax and added the seat back to the chair!

This chair would be perfect or a farmhouse! and could go with a lot of decor!

Entertainment Center Gets an Update

Today I am going to share a makeover of a entertainment center that I found at a yard sale.This is how it started out...

Solid black and kinda glossy and very dusty and dirty. It had a cute farmhouse kinda style to it so I decided to paint all in Country Chic Paint in color called Harmony. Well after I had it all painted except for the doors and the drawers I decided to paint it two toned.

So for the base of this piece I painted it in two coats of harmony and did the drawers and doors in cheese cake!

It is the perfect contrast of colors and still gives it the farmhouse feel. After it all got painted I distressed it pretty heavily in areas to give it a older feel, almost chippy in places on the doors.

After all of that I finished the piece in natural wax. And I styled it more as a storage piece than as a entertainment center cause it can be used more than to just hold a t.v!

Pebble Beach Table

Hey Y'all, I found this little end table at a yard sale, which happens to be the place I find most my pieces. It was in really good shape and the color was pretty good but it was just to much and didn't bring out all of the detail that was in the table. So this is how it started out...

This is going to be a simple project that anyone could easily do to update a piece of furniture they may want to paint or add a pop color.

For this end table I decided to paint in Country Chic's paint in Pebble Beach it took two thin coats to get good coverage as the stain was pretty dark.

I opted to leave the top of this end table the natural stained top as the color was good but the whole end table that color was just a bit much so all I did for the top was clean it up and it was good to go. Same for the little knob.

To finish the piece off i lightly sanded in some areas and finished in the clear wax over the painted parts! This is a project that anyone could easily do and it makes such a big difference.

The Farmhouse Hutch

Today I am going to share a makeover of a cute little hutch that I found on craigslist! it had a wooden back that hole cuts in the back that just didn't look good but it was in good shape and really heavy it just needed to be updated..

At first I was going to change the back to bead board but I started painting before I decided to just take it off and Painted it in Country Chic Paint in Vanilla Frosting

I wanted to paint the inside of the doors with bliss! and decided to also paint the drawer to.

It took a couple of coats to get everything coated well.

After that I distressed it a little bit and finished it all in clear wax then used a little antiquing wax on the drawer and inside the door to give it a little something more.

I left the hardware that was already on it, they look old and matched the style of the piece.

Now it looks like a cute little farmhouse hutch!

Vanilla Frosting End Table

This little end table came from a yard sale. It was cute but the wood was orange and dirty and stuck in the 80's and needed an update

As you can see from the before picture it started out with feet but once I got it home I noticed two of the feet were broken, so instead of adding anymore I just decided to take them off.

For the colors I chose to do the base of it in Vanilla Frosting and do the doors in Ocean Breeze! I heavily distressed the piece on the doors and all the edges

After that i finished the piece in natural wax all over and added back the original knobs that was one the piece and now it has a fresh updated look that can be used for many more years!

I love how it turned out and the distressed also the bottles are vintage and found from yard sales and the roses came from the yard!

Southern Vintage Market and Rustic Owl Treasures

Today I am going to show some pictures of my booth/little shop inside a new store that I am now apart of. The Store is called Southern Vintage Market. Now I am still adding things to my booth and have not fully decorated or even fixed the back wall! but I can also post more pictures as it grows and gets done! So If y'all are in Alabama please come and visit the store they have lots of cute items and vintage, and antiques! Along with the furniture I paint and whatever else we make! They are open from Wednesday- Saturday 10 a.m.- 5p.m. and open on Sundays from 11 a.m. - 4p.m.

Chicken Wire Message Center

Today I am going to share how to up-cycle a old door. This door started out attached to a huge top part of a china cabinet, it was missing glass and shelves and was given to me for free! So I decided to take the whole thing apart and salvage parts of it I could use.

It was a good stain color but the bottom part was not even stained at all So I tried out the new All in one decor paint for this project in color ocean breeze.

It only took two thin coats and dried super quickly, After that I lightly distressed it around all the edges to give it a more shabby feel and farmhouse look.

Then used my nail/stable gun to add the chicken wire to the back and added hooks to the bottom. I did not use any finishing stuff on this as the all in one decor paint does not need wax or anything unless you wanted extra durability

This piece would be great in a entry way! What do y'all think?

Elegance Bench

Today I am going share a makeover of a little bench or maybe its a coffee table but to me it looks like a bench! It just started out brown and bland and needed a update.

I decided to use Country Chic Paint in color called elegance! its beautiful light blue color also if you haven't tried their paint i would defiantly give it a try!

I only used one coat of paint on this as I knew I wanted it heavily distressed. so after it was all painted I distressed with a little sanding block.

After all of that I used Miss Mustard Seeds hemp oil for a topcoat! I love it on pieces like this.

I think this bench/coffee table is probably from the 70's but I love the style of it and it works great for a farmhouse style.

To help give it a farmhouse look I staged it with a galvanized bucket with flowers and vintage blue mason jar! who don't love those!

The Lazy Linen End Table

This 70's looking end table come from a yard sale a little over a month ago. I loved the detail on the drawer and on the top it made it stand out and be different. It started like this

After I cleaned it up I decided to paint it in lazy linen it took about 2 coats and I painted in the drawer in fresh mustard.

I distressed the piece in places that would naturally distress over time and I was going to leave the mustard color bright and add in dark wax but it was to much of a contrast and didn't look good at all.

So I used the natural wax and then antiquing wax over the lazy linen, then on the drawer I watered down lazy linen and did a white wash over the top then used white wax on top of that, leaving it in the grooves of the drawer.

The contrast now works and looks great!

Blue Buffalo Check Chair

Today I am going to share a chair makeover. We got this chair at a thrift store for a few dollars id say! The chair was cute but the fabric was awful and had strings hanging from it and was just out of date and it was pretty scratched up.

I chose the color lazy linen to paint the chair in, it took about two coats to get a full coverage over all of the kinda dark wood.

After that I distressed this piece pretty heavily on all areas that would get naturally distressed. I wanted it to have a farmhouse look with the fabric I choose. The fabric is actually a table cloth! from the pioneer woman line if anyone else would like to use them for chair makeovers!

And after I distressed the chair and recovered the seat I waxed the chair in natural wax and it was finished! a pretty simple makeover but with big impact.

Wooden Thrift Store Tray Gets a Makeover

Today I am going to share a makeover of a tray from a thrift store. Do you ever go down the aisles of the thrift store with all the wood stuff and you see piles and piles of it that are scratched up and outdated and just skip over them? Well I usually find old candle sticks, salt and pepper shakers and whatever else and paint them up and they look just as good as new ones and can match your decor a lot cheaper than newer ones! so always check out those aisles for deals This is how this tray started out...

I liked the color on the tray but not the outdated photo and it was pretty scratched up. I decided to paint it in the color called Fresh Mustard and use Midnight Sky on a stencil in the center.

The hexagon shape of the tray reminded me of bees so yellow was the color I chose.

I gave it 3 coats of paint to make sure it had good coverage, I've came to found out yellow is a hard color to paint with no matter the brand so it may need a extra coat.

After that I just used a small stencil I had of a flower and eyeballed the center and used Midnight Sky on it. The yellow and blue works well together.

Then I sanded around the edges and the on the flower to give it a more antique older look and used straight dark wax on the piece to make it look even older! What do y'all think?

Inherited and Re-Loved Vanity

Today I am going to show a make over of a vanity that was given to my mother from my Grandma. It has never been painted but it was pretty rough with veneer coming off the drawer and a lot of scratches and it was just dark and heavy. It was time for a update.

I would have left it stained if it was in great shape, So I sanded down the drawer to smooth down the chipping veneer.

I choose the colors cheesecake for the base of it and for the mirror and used lazy linen on the drawer. It all received two coats of paint and was heavily distressed in places where natural wear would have been to make it have that old feel again.

I finished the whole piece in natural wax.

I wasn't worried about the dings in the wood that just helps add to the charm and leaves the history of the piece there and still lets it be old even with any new painted added to it.

I also left the knobs original to the piece they were already the perfect color.

Estate Sale End Table Makeover

Today I am going to share a make over of a table I got at a estate sale a couple of weeks ago. It started out that ugly shade of brown of 70's furniture and had a lot scratches it was time for a update

I wanted to lighten up the piece and give it a fresh look for spring so I decide to go with the elegance color from Country Chic Paint.

I used the beeswax distressing bar in places and then gave it 2 coats of paint and distressed it pretty heavily in places that would naturally wear over time.

and then I finished the table in natural wax.

I love how it turned out! and how much lighter and newer it looks but still has a old charm to it. if your wondering about the light hanging it is a old bait basket we made into light! and a vintage table cloth behind the old door!

My Night Stand

Hey y'all I am going to share a little night stand makeover with you today. I have been searching for a night stand for my room for about a month now, and I went to antique/flea mall and found one recently that had the look that I was going for. It was such a dark brown and kinda wavy it just was not pretty.. Here is the before.

I love the shape and the legs on it and even the hardware but it needed much needed updating!

I recently got accepted to be a guest blogger for Country Chic Paint, They send me the paint to use on pieces and I write blog posts for their blog int return! so get ready for a ton of new makeovers! I am super excited about this new venture.

So for this piece I chose the colors lazy linen and elegance. Lazy linen is a light grey color and elegance is a very light blue/green color. and it goes with my room great! which is painted in Sherwin Williams- watery and just a basic white color.

The paint goes on super smooth and has great coverage, it is super easy to work with. It has little smell and VOC free which is a huge plus and is chalk and mineral based and all waxes are made from beeswax and natural oils. It dries super quick, I was able to finish this night stand in a couple of days. I started off with a beeswax distressing bar to make distressing a little easier.

And did the base in the lazy linen and the drawer in the elegance and finished the drawer in white wax and rest in natural clear wax! What do y'all think?

Diy Moss Four Leaf Clover

I have quite a bit of scrap wood all different sizes none of it is all cut perfect. So I like to use it for little signs.. The other day I bought some reindeer moss from Dollar Tree to make little moss balls and decided to use some of it to make a little sign.

I decided on a four leaf clover with St. Patrick's day coming up, I started out by painting the board white and used dark wax then dried brush white over the top and used a rag to smooth it all out.

After that I used a color pencil to draw out the design of the clover while my hot glue gun heated up. I pulled apart some of the moss and started by putting hot glue down around the design and adding in smaller pieces to make sure it looked like a clover,

And that was it! took me about 30 mins to make it and now you have cute decor for spring that gives a touch of green!
