We are here is Arizona finally! It's been a long Journey but we are very excited to be here. I love it here and am looking forward to putting the finishing touches on our house. We are currently working on hiring someone to redo our yard ( ADD A POOL and add my citrus trees). We are also finishing the last of the unpacking and slowly getting the inside decorated. I will be reviewing a limited number of items for a Holiday gift guide. So keep checking back for that! If you have been a long time follower of my blog you know I have always wanted to live in Arizona. A few weeks ago God opened the door for us to move and we leaped in. I have always had bad allergies that seem to be getting worse as I get older. This year with the record snowfall in Michigan and even more extreme temperature changes; my allergies were the worst they have ever been. On a whim, my husband sent out some resumes to some places hiring in Arizona and the very next day he received a phone call that turned into a phone interview. The following day a follow-up call with a job offer! He had two weeks to report to his new job. In the midsts of all this we were finishing our basement and celebrating Shane's 6th Birthday. Always something going on ( story of my life ). With help of my wonderful family and friends we were able to finish the drywall in the basement, get Phil packed and I was able to drive with him to Arizona and stay a week to look at areas/houses. With a target Area picked and ready to put an offer on the right house, I am back in Michigan with the kids praying our house sells quickly. We will be joining my hubby as soon as our house here in Michigan sells. We are moving to Arizona :) I can't wait to start this new journey with my family and look forward to beautiful weather (improved allergies), swimming 10 months out of the year and having our friends and family visit us! That said please understand that things here are very very crazy right now and my blog/postings may not be as regular for a few months till our move is complete :) Laura

In our house we always try to eat as much organic as possible. Especially when it comes to what I feed my kids. I don't like giving my kids, who's bodies are still growing and developing, foods with artificial flavors. It's sometimes hard to find good quality organic snacks. Blinkbuggy a must have app for your precious photos

As a photographer and mom of 2, I am always taking pictures and looking for new ways to collect and share them.

Recently, I discovered Blinkbuggy.

Blinkbuggy is a technology that helps moms by making it easy and fun to collect and connect all the most important moments and create meaningful stories, all in one place, that can be shared now, printed into beautiful memory books as well as passed on to the next generation.

With all the running around I do with my 6 year old and 1 1/2 year old there are always cute moments I want to catch. As for my son I am going to create an album to document my sons school pictures. We received a low end crib mattress at my baby shower for my son Shane 6 years ago. We managed to make it work with him and I thought I could stretch it long enough to make it last with my daughter Jacey.

We kept Jacey in the Preferred Position 2-in-1 Bassinet and Incline Sleeper from Kolcraft
(which I just loved) till she reached its weight limit. Then we put her in her crib. I could see the mattress was giving out. This year it began caving in the middle. I am sure she wasn't very comfortable. I know I wouldn't be. Finally, I decided, I had enough.

As a kolcraft mom, I am given the opportunity to review many of there awesome products. I can seriously tell you I have never once been disappointed and this time is no exception. Jacey was sent a pair and we both really like these shoes. They are very lightweight and breathable. I can tell Jacey doesn't even notice they are on her feet. The bottoms are flexible and the tops are made of a soft cloth like material. The only issue I could see is that they could snag or wear down over many washings. I think they are a neat little shoe plus the come in a variety of colors to match many different outfits.

My husband has to be out the door at 6:30 am with an hour drive time to get to work and many days the weather is especially bad or he is running late and skips breakfast.

Jacey's New Dresser from Sauder

We are transitioning Jacey's room into a toddler/ kid room. I found a really nice twin bed used that was perfect for her as she grows but was in need of a quality matching dresser. It didn't take long to find a large modern dresser and mirror from a trusted name in furniture Sauder.

We own several pieces from Sauder and are very happy with them. One of my favorites is our TV stand in our living room. It is sturdy and looks expensive but without a big price tag. It features plenty of storage and quality hardware.

We love our new Shoal Creek Dresser and matching Mirror. It gave us the modern look we had in mind. It fits beautifully in Jacey's room and provides the storage we are looking for. I especially love the extra storage in the mirror as it gives me a perfect place to store Jacey's hair pretties and accessories. I know this piece will last for several years.

Sweeten up Valentine’s Day this year with MIKE AND IKE® Passion Mix and HOT TAMALES® Cinnamon candy.

I have to admit one of my favorite candies is HOT TAMALES®. I was super excite to find a recipe using HOT TAMALES®. Can't wait to make them for Valentines Day.

HOT TAMALES® Snickerdoodles

Servings: 2 dozen

INGREDIENTS:

· 1/2 cup (4 oz) HOT TAMALES® Candies, coarsely chopped*

· 1/4 cup (2 oz) salted margarine, softened

· 1/4 cup (2 oz) shortening (I use Spectrum Organic)

· 3/4 cups (5.6 oz) granulated sugar

· 1 egg

· 1 1/2 cups (6.75 oz) all-purpose flour

· 1 teaspoon cream of tartar

· 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

· pinch of salt (increase to 1/4 tsp if using unsalted margarine)

· 4 teaspoons granulated sugar

· 4 teaspoons ground cinnamon

*The candy is quite sticky so the best way to chop it is with a lightly oiled knife.

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Line two cookie sheets with parchment paper and set aside.

2. Using an electric mixer, cream together the margarine, shortening and ¾ cups sugar.
Add the egg and beat until thoroughly combined.

3. In a separate bowl, combine all dry ingredients. Add the dry ingredients
(except the candy) into the creamed mixture and mix until just combined. Add the chopped
candy and mix until the candy is evenly distributed, a few minutes more.

4. Refrigerate the dough for at least 15 minutes (this makes it easier to handle).

5. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.

6. Combine the remaining sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Form dough into balls
the size of small walnuts (I use a tablespoon cookie scoop). Roll the balls of cookie dough
in the cinnamon sugar.

7. Place the cookies two inches apart on the cookie sheets. Bake for 8 minutes,
rotating the cookie sheets in the oven at the halfway point. They are done when they
look puffed in the middle and slightly brown at the edges
(the tops of the cookies will form cracks). Be careful not to overcook.

8. Remove cookie sheet from the oven and let cookies sit on it for another minute
or so before removing to cooling rack; cookies will flatten out as they cool.

9. These cookies are best served warm, straight out of the oven, but they
can be stored in an airtight container for up to two days.

Shane's Mario Room

Shane's big present this past Christmas was a new Mario themed bedroom.
We still have a few finishing touches to put on it but it has been coming together so nicely.

It started with this new rug from CapelRugs.com.

It is so soft and thick and made with such quality. It just ties the room together so nicely. It matches perfectly to his new Mario themed room. It even matched well to his old Cars room as you can see from the above picture.

For Christmas SANTA brought Shane Mario bedding and his adopted Grandma got him Mario wall decals. All to make for a perfect Mario room.

Look how awesome his room looks now!

We are just waiting for the weather to warm up so we can paint his walls and install some shelving then it will be complete.

Ingredients
2 cups Honey Nut Chex® cereal
2 cups Chocolate Chex® cereal
2 cups Banana Nut Cheeerios® cereal
1 cup dry-roasted peanuts
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup peanut butter
1 cup freeze-dried banana chips
1/2 cup candy-coated chocolate candies

Directions

1. In large microwaveable bowl, measure cereals and peanuts.
2. In 2-cup microwavable measuring cup, microwave butter until melted, about 30 seconds. Stir in brown sugar and peanut butter; microwave 30 seconds longer or until mixture is boiling. Pour over cereal mixture, stirring until evenly coated.
3. Microwave uncovered on High about 3 minutes, stirring every minute, until mixture is glazed. Cool 5 minutes. Stir in dried bananas and candies.

Spread on waxed paper to cool. Store in airtight container.
