We are gradually sliding into the spring months in the pacific north west, that means denim jacket days are in full effect. Its nice to not have to leave the house with a huge parka that almost weighs you down. Spring is about shedding the layers of winter. Thinking about the new season gives me butterflies, I am a Spring and Summer girl at heart and I am currently left wondering why the the warmer months give us the free spirited frame of mind and why the colder months don't? Is it because we like to hibernate in the cold like bears? Or is it actually the layers of clothes that holds us back from outdoor adventures in the winter months. Either way, I am happy to welcome light layers and to turn back to denim and leather jackets in which this Current Elliot staple will be on high rotation. Happy daylight savings. Taking a trip down memory lane sometimes is good for the soul. While I am currently gearing up to launch the new TobruckAve I thought it would be nice to go back to the roots and show you all what the real Tobruck Ave actually looks like. Its a street in North Vancouver where I lived when I started the blog way back, I had no idea what to actually post on it, so I started it and kind of left it alone until a couple years later when the California dream inspired me to give it another go and believe in myself and my passion for this job of digital influencer. Tobruck Ave is an amazing little street, that is lined by trees with this beautiful park is right beside it. The perfect walk to catch some fresh air and clear your mind of all kinds of things. You know you have a favorite color party skirt hanging in your closet waiting for the perfect event to wear it to. If you are Carry Bradshaw it would just be the perfect coffee date outfit, but for most of us it requires a little bit more of a special event. However, since events like those don't com around to much i decided to pair my Party Skirt with a more casual tee shirt look. Making it a little more Carry Bradshaw meets Erin Wasson. I love pieces like this that are such statement pieces but can still be styled in completely different ways for different events. Vancouver is abnormally warm for the time of the year, no complaining here that means I get to steer closer to my go to california style day by day.

Sundays off duty means catching some fresh and recharging for the week ahead. In Vancouver, the seawall is a great place to escape and get some easy exercise, all while taking in the beautiful scenes of sea meets downtown. Does anyone ever take a moment to set some goals for the week ahead? I think I am going to start a new sunday ritual that includes goal setting. Lists, of to do's usually work well for my productivity, I wonder if goal setting every weekend will as well. Let me know what your weekly productivity and inspirational goal setting looks like, I am interested, to hear some new strategies. After catching some fresh air in my go to sunday's best Joes Off Duty leggings, I am sitting myself down and meal planning for a healthy week and also setting some new goals that will hopefully get myself out of a little bit of an inspirational rut.

If you have any type of sweet tooth, a visit to Beaucoup Bakery is a must. Its a little hidden gem, full of home made baked goods, known for their delicious croissants, and mouthwatering pastries heading over the Burrard bridge for this little treat is totally worth it. The owner is such fun to speak to, she knows her baked goods in and out and the special recipes are exclusive to her little spot, cant wait to see what else she will have my salivating over.

One of my favorite local hangouts, Greenhorn Cafe, its a little spot in the heart of the west end, its always buzzing yet has a living room kind of feel especially in the back room, where there is a great collection of records and a cute spot to sip on coffee and eat the delicious kale salad they have for lunch. This spot always comes to mind when thinking of a place for a casual meeting or even a spot to work at for the day, its just got it all and for sure recommend a visit when walking around the west end area of Vancouver.

The spot is always full of friends and a good vibe and without a doubt the best beer I have ever tasted, which makes it a must visit spot in Vancouver. All these local haunts are cool and different for its own reasons, Vancouver does breed an amazing food, coffee and beer culture so highlighting only a few favorites was really difficult. But, whatever you do be sure to add these local haunts to your Vancouver must visit list.

Dear weekend you are always over so fast. I am gearing up for another busy and exciting week. So many big things are in the works I can hardly keep track and can also not wait to reveal the new TobruckAve. This has been my favorite coat this season, its the perfect shape has the perfect texture and its by one of my favorite aussie lables Cameo. Working in the boyfriend jean for a winter day works best with a long coat and even some tights to stop the cold draft coming through the rips and holes. When I face a day of meetings I always carry my Cuyana tote. In celebration of the Blizzard that has caused most of the east coast to come to a complete stand still today, I decided to dig into my snow filled pictures from Switzerland. We had 3 days of snow flakes falling and its always as magical as can be, especially surrounded by mountains. Being snowed in, in New York city is a different experience though. Its almost strange how silent even the biggest most fast pace city gets when its getting covered in snow. Still having so much fun going through all my photos from my trip to Switzerland, I could literally not stop smiling at the snowy flakes and the beautiful mountain scape that I was surrounded by in the alps. OK, and maybe I was also grinning at the boy behind the lens. This day was just as magical as every day in Switzerland, we train traveled to Davos, famous for having endless options of ski slopes, the WEF conference and the Spengler cup Hockey tournament which we went to later that night. This may have been one of the coldest days but we also decided to walk around the lake just as a snow storm was about to roll in. Ive mentioned before that if I had to choose one winter accessory to keep me warm it would be a scarf, however after this day, I change my mind, I wouldn't be able to pick between, scarf, beanie or gloves on a cold day all of the above are much needed. Remember the snow days you may have experienced in school, depending on geographical locations of course, they were magical. It was always the best news to get to not get to go to school and just play outside in the snow all day. I still get that feeling when it snows, I have to go outside no matter how cold. The silence that falling snowflakes cause is amazing, the walks in the forest when you can hear nothing but your footsteps are my favorite and somehow you just never really get cold due to all the cozy layers, this day I was kept warm by my American Eagle puffer jacket, which made me blend in with the ever so magical snowy background. This forest walk called, Fürstawald, was one I did countless amounts of times when I was growing up, back then with my little golden retriever, Tessa. North of Italy | Tales from Switzerland

Waking up to the swiss-italian sunshine in a cabin only accesable by foot, overlooking the beautiful city of Lacorano is pretty much a highlight of 2014. Right after Christmas we drove south to my friends cabin in Tessin and I think the views and vibe of the italian infused culture stole our hearts immediatly. Palm trees and mountains by a lake with beautiful towns filled with little tiny alleys with colorful houses is as characteristic as it gets. I can not even begin with how amazing the food was there, more on that coming soon! We took a drive into one of the valleys to a bridge that was built in roman times out of rocks, with a turquoise river flowing underneath it. Perfect! Right beside it a town that is also built out of rocks and wood, it felt like we traveled back in time it was totally sureal. That day felt like spring, so layering a flannel shirt and my Freepeople wool cardigan was enough to keep my cozy warm in the swiss-italian sunshine, all while 2 hours away there was a complete snow storm happening. Hope you guys all had an amazing start to the new year. I have such a good feeling for 2015, big things are in the works for TobruckAve, that I can not wait to share with you, as well as a very happy personal start to the year of 2015 as well. I just landed back in Vancouver and going back through my photos from Switzerland is helping me realize that the past 3 weeks wasn't just a dream but a dreamy reality. OK, so the blog has been a little silent over the holidays, but the reason is that I decided to take a real break and enjoy quality time with my family, that I only get to see once a year, take in the beauty that is the country that I grew up in and visiting friends that I miss so dearly. My stay there was so special, I got to see Switzerland through a set of fresh eyes, by showing my boyfriend around the places that I almost took for granted while I was a teenager. We went on a day trip with my mom almost every day, covering most of the train rail roads in the area I grew up in, along with my favorite ski resort towns that lay perfectly amongst the alpine mountains. Of course all while keeping warm even in the snow mostly by wrapping myself in this Aritzia parka and scarf. Todays blog adventure I am sharing is taking you to Ski resort town called Lenzerheid, this was Christmas day and it marked the first day of 5 days of snow! Travel tip: Take a walk around the lakes to get a grasp of the perfect beauty that is surrounded by mountains, and then go for a coffee at the Pesko store, its a good little spot for people watching. Breathing the mountain air has never felt so good.

Hope you all had an amazing Christmas. Can't believe it is over already. But the magic lives on in the mountains in Switzerland. I am having so many moments on this trip where I actually feel so fortunate that I got to grow up in such a beautiful place. I am seeing the mountains, the space, the little towns and houses in a new light this time for some reason. Its just so amazing to have nature right in front of your door and views where the mountain peaks never end as far as your eye can see. I remember being little and visiting this town called Tschirtschen, which is actually at the end of the road, so its sort of the end and the top of the world all together. I loved it, then became a teenager and thought it was boring. Now visiting baby cows at the farms and walking through an entire village in 2 min amazes me again. Its a perfect mountain fairy tale up here. Bundled in the perfect American Eagle sweater I stayed cozy warm while exploring the pathways to nowhere. Follow along on my Swiss adventure on instagram.

Its been a little silent on the blog, I am so sorry! I have been taking in the mountain fresh air in Switzerland and exploring my home town and seeing friends I havent seen in so long. The scents of my Year | Vitruvi

Using inspiration from my travels across the world, I am so excited to be debuting my custom collection of fragrances I created with the incredible Vitruvi founder Sara Panton. The collection tells stories through scents, from each city I have been lucky enough to travel through this past year.

Cape Town: Bottling the floral salt ridden air of Cape Town, clary sage and spearming bring a fresh ocean tone and carry the subtle tropical scent of ylang yang and flowers up grass banks from the windy beaches.

New York: Warming cinnamon and smoky frankinese paired with a drop of vanilla and neroli, reminiscent of a negroni cocktail on a winter night in my favorite NYC speakeasy.

Los Angeles: Vanilla and sweet orange reminiscent of warm sunscreen slathered over salt water bodies post surf and pre lemonade on bikes over the boardwalk.

Vancouver: Inspired by Canadian spruce leaves and juniper berries picked on Sunday adventures trekking over wet rocks and damp moss on a rainy west coast hike.

This collection of botanical scents we created, is sharing a personal story of the past year of my wanderings with TobruckAve and my personal life. Its been a wild ride this year, traveling through 4 incredible cities creating the most precious memories, learning life lessons, meeting new amazing people, shedding tears, growing as a person and finding my place in this crazy space called life. I wanted to create something to secure those memories and that I can share with everyone that has been on this adventure with me, who I am so grateful for. This is really close to my heart and this process of creating something so sentimental was a dream come true. Each scent represents a fond memory I have of each city I lived in this year. Looks like a geometric kinda day to me. As you know I love mixing and matching textures and prints always is a yes for mixing as well. For winter, stripes and plaid are a perfect match if you ask me. This is the last of my Shellys London holiday looks. These boots inspired this look completely. The mix of textures in the boot made for the ret of the outfit. I love that you can barely see where the boots end and my tights start. Leather inserts on tights like this make them not just another black pair of tights and so perfect for a holiday date night, right? Also, this area is turning out to be my favorite in Vancouver to stroll around in. The West End, seems to be full of hidden gems and less of the perfect glass buildings that stand so tall in Vancouver. Just around the corner is my new favorite coffee shop called Greenhorn Cafe. It is that time of year where the smell of pine tree's and crisp fresh air all of a sudden makes you feel cozy and warm inside. I love the mood set by my holiday board on pinterest without even really thinking about it, looking back at it it perfectly reflects my mood and my christmas plans this year! Its heading back to where I grew up, my childhood friends, my mom, my brother, the places I loved going to growing up, and the best part is I get to bring my boyfriend with me this time around. Fusing my North American life to my little swiss girl life is kind of a big deal and I have never had the chance to do that before. I cannot wait to breath that alpine air and really connect with that side of my life again. Its been so long! Counting down the days! See you soon Switzerland.
