It's the beginning of a new week and what better way to get it started then by having seven different hair tutorials?

Thanks to Latest-Hairstyles.com and Wendy Rose Gould, today's hair tutorial post will definitely come in handy this week when you find yourself lacking a little hairstyle inspo.

According to Wendy, "Bobby pins sort of get the short end of the stick. I mean, they’re super utilitarian, obviously, but pretty much every single tutorial out there tells you they should be tucked away, hidden from the world and never to be seen by a single soul."

"Of course, there’s a time and place when you don’t want your bobby pins to show, but today we’re here to set the bobby pin free. We came up with some bobby pin inspiration for you and have given a how-to for each. If you’re feeling even more playful, try using brightly colored or metallic bobby pins as you experiment with these incredibly chic ways to wear bobby pins."

#1 The Half-Up Bobby Pin Nest

How To: After teasing your hair at the crown and gently combing it out, pull back half of your hair to create a half-up hairdo. Instead of securing hair with an elastic, though, twist it twice to the right and then begin inserting bobby pins to secure. Don’t worry about being strategic or uniform or symmetrical. Instead, create a messy nest of bobby pins. Not only will your hair be very secure, but it’ll look cool. The more bobby pins and the more haphazard their placement, the more “on purpose” it will look.

#2 The Half Up Braided and Bobbied

How To: Create two small-to-medium braids on either side of your head. Pull them to the back until they meet and then insert four criss-crossed bobby pins. For an additional touch, and so people know you’re not ashamed of your bobby pin game, insert three horizontal bobby pins above the braids at the center of your head.

#3 The Messy Bun Meets Bobby

How To: Gather your hair near the crown of your head as if you’re going to put it in a messy ponytail. Begin wrapping it around itself, then secure the entire bun with a clear elastic. Keep your bun very loose, very casual and very undone. From there, add three sets of two bobby pins around the bun.

#4 The No Reason Zigzag

How To: This one’s great because the bobby pins serve no purpose other than to look pretty. Just above your ear, insert two diagonal bobby pins. From there, create a zigzag by adding two additional bobby pins on top and then two below.

#5 The Super Side Swept Lattice

How To: Create a very deep side part, pulling a large portion of your hair to one side of your face. Insert two bobby pins point away from your face. From there, fold over a small section of the pulled aside hair and insert two addition bobby pins (this time toward your face) to keep the fold in place. Repeat, this time pulling hair from the front portion of your pulled aside hair and folding it over. Insert two more bobby pins to keep it in place, again with bobby pins pointing away from your face. Repeat once more on the other side of the pulled aside section, bobby pins pointing toward your face again. Don’t get too caught up in making this look perfect or the same as the image featured here. Just keep folding sections of the hair back and forth and securing with alternating bobby pins to create a lattice.

#6 The Covered Pony

How To: Divide your hair into three sections, with the largest section in the middle and two smaller sections on either side. Gather the middle section into a low ponytail and secure with a clear elastic. Drag one section of hair over the top of the ponytail and wrap it around, securing with a bobby pin. Repeat on the other side. On either both sides or one side (your choice), insert four fanned out bobby pins.

#7 The Pinned Rosette

How To: Gather a small section of your hair above your ear and gently twist the hair around itself to create a spiral. Place the rosette flat against your head and insert two criss-crossed bobby pins.

VALENTINE’S DAY DIY NAIL INSPIRATION FROM JULEP

1. Mini hearts: Use two coats of Florence, a classic camel crème polish. Let dry, then use a toothpick or the dotting tool in the Creativity Kit to make the heart with Shawn, a poppy pink polish. First make two dots, then add the bottom triangle of the heart.

2. Dots with Naked Nail: Start with a clear base coat. Create the naked naked look by cutting out a V-shape out of scotch tape and sticking it on your nail. Of the many challenges that come from working out, one of the most popular is how to style our hair post-gym. Regardless of what time of day (or night) you choose to work out, the following hair ideas shared by Fernando Salas, creator of White Sands Haircare, will certainly give you fast hair ideas to go from the gym to a number of after workout plans like work, a date or even just a lazy weekend at home.

1. Going from the Gym to Last Minute Plans - Do a 3 Minute Blowout

Spray a hairspray like White Sands Infinity ($22) to soak up extra oils and create lift at the roots. Quickly use your dryer and direct the heat only at your hairline to dry up the most visible, sweaty areas. Flip your head over and dry hair upside down. When you come back up, you will have volume while also refreshening tresses. Spray your brush with perfume and run through your hair to finish.

2. Going from the Gym to Date Night - Do a Post Workout Chignon

How To Create a Successful Personal Fitness Program

Hello, 2016!

Like many of you, today is my first official day back at the LFD offices. And I have to say: I'm super excited and motivated to get this new year started on a positive note.

In order to do that, I decided to make it a priority to work on my overall health this year by creating (and maintaining) a personal fitness program.

If one of your new years goals is to workout on a regular basis, then please continue reading below some tips and tricks that will help you create a successful personal fitness program.

1. NO MORE EXCUSES

Stop making excuses for not working out. Schedule a block of time to workout tomorrow, even if it's only for 15 minutes. Tomorrow, schedule another block of time for the next day. Do this daily and eventually you won't need to make that appointment with yourself and your workout time will increase. Soon, exercise will just be part of a normal day.

TIP: To give you an idea, here's what I do: When driving back to the house in the mornings after taking my daughter to her bus stop,I have no other choice but to drive by the gym. So, instead of speeding by the building once I turn the corner onto the street where it's located, I convince myself that all I need to do is go inside and workout for a few minutes. Once I walk through the front doors, I connect my cell phone to their wifi, load a YouTube video that's about 15-20 min long and begin my workout. By the time the video ends, I've worked out for the day without even knowing it.

2.DO WHAT YOU ENJOY

A great way to stay fit is to pick a fitness related activity that you absolutely love. This could be something like bike riding, roller blading, or even hiking. This way you will be exercising fairly strenuously and because it is something you really enjoy you won't even notice it.

TIP: As someone who likes to go for walks, I tend to gravitate to the nearest treadmill. If there is none available, then I'll choose the elliptical. And, when I'm feeling ballsy, I'll do some light weight lifting.

3. GET OFF THE COUCH

One way to get fit is to replace all your normal sedentary habits with active habits. For example if you watch TV for about three hours a day this can be replaced with a one hour walk and two hours of TV. By doing this you get some exercise into your regimen and don't sacrifice something you enjoy.

4. FIND YOUR SWEET-SPOT

If you're having a difficult time fitting exercise into your day, try doing it early in the morning. If you wake up and tackle your exercise plan first thing, you won't have to worry about it for the rest of the day. You can also often complete a thirty minute work out before the rest of your family is awake, making it less of an interference in your every day chores and duties.

TIP: Like I mentioned before, I go to the gym first thing in the morning, which is typically around 6:30 AM. If the morning time does not work for you, try going in the mid-afternoon or even at night.

5. START SLOW...

While fitness should push our bodies, it is important though that you not push yourself too hard. By trying to exceed your body's capabilities, you are not doing yourself any favors; in fact, you may be causing yourself injury. My suggestion is to take is slow. When you schedule your fitness routine, start off with easy to do stretches or jump rope. The point is: Don't over do it!

With the previous tips floating through your thoughts, you ought to be ready to create your own personal fitness routine! It does take some time and effort, but if you keep at it, it is indeed achievable. So, go out there, enjoy yourself, and achieve all of your fitness goals!

Today's article is a two-for-one beauty tutorial dedicated to everyone who has been patiently waiting for the release of Mockingjay Part 2.

I for one, am super excited to go and watch the movie this weekend. It's been a few months since the last time my husband and I have gone to the theater, so this weekend will be the perfect time to go.

In honor of Mockingjay Part 2, Wendy Rose Gould (beauty expert for Latest-Hairstyles.com) has recreated the hair + makeup from the movie.

The Ultimate Katniss Braid & Makeup Tutorial

[Just in Time for Mockingjay Part 2!]

Re-Create The Hair

"This is a relatively straightforward hairstyle. But to recreate the Katniss braid, you may want to get some hair extensions," explains Wendy Rose Gould, beauty expert for hair tutorial and advice site www.Latest-Hairstyles.com.

"We’re using Effortless Exensions’ Sip On Hair, which is temporary and easy to work with. If you don’t need to add length, skip to step three."

Step 1: Apply Serum

Prep your hair by apply hair serum. This will tame frizz, make your hair easier to manage, and will also help create the same kind of shine that a lot of faux hair pieces have, thereby allowing it to blend a little easier. We’re using Cureology Smoothing Anti-Frizz Hair Serum.

Step 2: Apply Extensions

This step will vary depending on what kind of extensions you’re adding.

Step 3: Move Hair

Shift all your hair to one side of your head.

Step 4: Part Hair

Part your hair down the center.

Step 5: Fishtail Braid

Now for the most arduous part of this hair tutorial: creating your fishtail braid (and it’s not even difficult). To do this, divide your hair into two sections, then drag an outer piece of hair from one section over to the other section. Pull tight, then repeat on the opposite side. Continue pulling tight as your braid the length of your hair, securing with a clear elastic on the end. Make sure all your hair is draped to one side of your head (secure with bobby pins if necessary), and then pull out sections of hair for that “piece-y,” and lived in look. You can use a texturizer or more serum to get those strands. Also twist each of these pieces to keep them separated.

Re-Create The Makeup:

"In three words, Katniss’ makeup is natural, dewy, and bronzed," says Wendy Rose Gould, beauty expert for hair tutorial and advice site www.Latest-Hairstyles.com.

To achieve this, I first applied Etude House Precious Mineral BB Cream to my skin. I then applied the bronzer in Paula Choice’s Blush it On Contour Palette with a bushy brush onto the apples of my cheeks. I also applied the bronzer to my forehead and chin, slowly building color. From the same palette and with the same brush, I added highlighter to the applies of my cheeks and the center of my forehead, then followed up with the darkest blush to add color onto my cheeks.

For my eyes, I used Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette. I filled in my brows with Faint, then applied Naked 2 across my eyelids. I used Faint in my eye creases to create dimension, and blended out with W.O.S. The colors you choose for this eye look will depend on my coloring. In general, stick with a matte brown that’s darker than your skin for the eyelids, followed by a slightly darker brown in the creases. The blending color should match the color of your skin.

I also applied tre’StiQue’s Swiss Chocolate Line, Sharpen & Smudge Eye Pencil to my upper lash line and blended with an angled eyeliner brush, then threw on some Sigma Sinuosity mascara. For lips, I dabbed on a pinkish nude lacquer and blended it into my lips with my pinky.

Hello My Lovelies!

In today's article I'll be sharing what's in my purse on a daily basis. I've wanted to do a post like this for a while and now that I was given the opportunity to do so...I'm excited to get right into it!

But, here's a sincere disclaimer: I carry way too many things with me. Although, everything that is in my purse helps me get through the day, there are times when I feel like I'm carrying around my entire office (which is partially true).

However, I did manage to pick only my daily essentials. You know, those items that somehow always find their way into your bag no matter what?

Yeah, those essentials.

1. My iPad2 + keyboard: I love having my iPad2 with me when I'm on the go. I use it to keep notes while I'm working with my local clients, create my shopping lists, and occasionally I will use it to write article drafts.

2. Daily Planner: In order to get everything done, I have to write it down. Taking a pen to paper helps me to remember what errands I need to tackle and what appointments I have scheduled. It also makes it easier to schedule new clients I meet while I am out.

3. Centrum VitaMints: I cannot even stress how crucial it is for me to take a daily vitamin. I always make sure to have them on hand since most mornings I tend to forget to take them before leaving the house. Having them inside my purse - I can take them at anytime and anywhere.

During the first few hours of the morning, I am helping my husband get off to work on time and making sure that my daughter gets to her bus stop. These first few hours of my morning can be hectic. So, by the time I come back to the house to officially begin my day, I'm feeling somewhat lack-luster. That's when I reach into my purse and pull out this bottle of Emergen-C. These chewable tablets work every.single.time!

5. Headphones: I like to pull these out when I'm at a coffee house or when I'm in the car waiting for my daughter to arrive at her bus stop. There's nothing like taking a break while listening to some music or watching an episode of a favorite TV show that I may have missed the evening before.

6. ChapStick Total Hydration: The last thing anyone wants is to walk around town speaking with people while having dry chapped lips. I cant live without my ChapStick. I lather it on in the car before pulling out of the driveway, after I eat, and before going to bed at night. 9. Mini makeup bag: For the most part, I like to keep my everyday makeup very simple. I do, however always carry a few liquid lipsticks, a finishing powder, mini mascara, and a travel size makeup brush with me in the event I need to touch-up my makeup.

10. A mini tripod: Having this tripod with me allows me to take photos with both my cell phone or camera at any given time. I use it to take outfit photos for my clients or just to practice taking photos with my camera.

And...that's it.

As you can see, I wasn't lying about carrying my entire office inside my purse. But, if you were to ask me which items I swear by, I would have to say the Centrum VitaMints, Emergen-C Immune+ Chewables and Chapstick Total Hydration are my "ride or die" purse essentials.

That first experience with SUI was roughly about two months ago. Since then, I have had a few other instances where this has happened. Although, my experience is one that can be considered as very mild, I know a few of my friends are not so lucky.

Having leakage occur often while doing simple things like laughing, can really hinder your daily routine. I know this first hand because shortly after my first SUI mishap, I stopped going to the gym. I kept exercising (and watching funny videos) at home instead.

But, the good news is now there is a way to managing SUI.

The Perfect Fishtail Wrapped Bun Tutorial

It's been a few weeks since the last time we shared an a easy-to-follow photo hair tutorial, so we figured it was time to post a new one for you to try out this weekend.

Today's fishtail wrapped bun tutorial has been provided by Melissa Cook, contributor at Latest-Hairstyles.com

According to Melissa, "Fishtail braids continue to be all the rage right and this hairstyle features two of them. This fishtail wrapped updo is quick and easy once you get the braiding part down, and the perfect hairstyle to keep in your beauty repertoire. This look is both trendy and chic, and luckily it looks trickier than it actually is to create!"

Without further adieu, let's get into the tutorial.

The Perfect Fishtail Wrapped Bun Tutorial

What You Need:

2 alligator clips
4 elastic bands
1 donut bun
3-6 hair pins
hairspray

Step 1

With a part on the right side, separate off a portion of hair from the part down to the left ear. Clip off the back portion of hair with an alligator clip.

Step 2

Pick up a section of hair near the part and begin a fishtail French braid. This is done by dividing the section into two halves and crossing small sections of hair underneath to the opposite side while incorporating hair into the braid each time.

Step 3

When all of the hair is brought into the braid, finish braiding the section down into a regular fishtail braid.

Step 4

Gently pull on the edges of the braid to loosen and create a fuller braid. Tie off the end with a clear elastic band.

Step 5

Repeat the previous steps creating another braid on the right side of the head.

Step 6

Let down the hair at the back and sweep it up into a low ponytail, tying it off with another elastic band.

Step 7

Take a hair donut and wrap it over the ponytail.

Step 8

Spread the hair around the donut and wrap another hair band over the top to secure it.

Step 9

Twist the hair sticking out from the donut and wrap it around the base of the bun.

Step 10

Pin down the ends with a hair pin.

Step 11

Pick up the braid from the right side of the head and wrap it over the top of the bun and around to the left side.

Step 12

Slide in some hair pins to secure the braid against the head.

Step 13

Now wrap the braid from the left side over the bun.

Step 14

Pin this braid down with another hair pin.

Step 15

Shower the style with hairspray and smooth down any flyaways.

SUPERNATURAL / FICTIONAL: The dress up options here are pretty much endless. You can create couple outfits that match, like dressing up as ghosts or vampires; or if you really want to bring out the fun side of each other.

To dress as the woman from that popular insurance TV commercial, create an all white outfit (preferably top + pants), and white shoes. If you wish to go the extra mile, add a brown wig with a blue headband and a name-tag. Your partner can easily dress as the male counterpart just by pulling out his favorite suit, tie, and dress shoes.

Tips and Tricks for Everyday Eye Makeup + #FalsiesPushUpDrama

The eyes are the windows to the soul, as they say, and they are the most beautiful features in a woman's face. Whenever you put on your eye makeup - especially mascara, your aim should always be to make your eyes look brighter.

To achieve brighter eyes, you really only need one essential eye makeup product: Mascara. A volumizing mascara, like the Maybelline #FalsiesPushUpDrama , will lift your eyelashes - giving your eyes instant brightness.

However, adding concealer, eye-shadow, kajal eyeliner, and an eyebrow kit will also help in creating an everyday eye makeup look to brighten the eyes.

But, before showing you how to achieve the everyday eye look using the mentioned makeup products, let's do a little shopping.

Personally, I prefer to use drug store makeup products for my everyday makeup. Why? They are easily accessible as well as budget friendly.

On my most recent beauty run, I drove to Walmart to purchase a few of my favorite Maybelline products.

While walking down the Maybelline aisle in the Cosmetics Dept, I noticed that there was a display for the new #FalsiesPushUpDrama mascara. Once I looked over the display and saw the waterproof version - I knew I wanted to buy it.

Feeling completely accomplished, I walked over to the nearest cashier, paid for my beauty haul and drove home so I could do my everyday eye makeup.

Here is my mini beauty haul: Maybelline Fit Me Concealer - 15 Fair, Color Tattoo - Creamy Beige, Mater Kajal - Midnight Brown, Brow Drama Pro Pallette - Blonde for eyebrows and the new Maybelline #FalsiesPushUpDrama Mascara in Blackest Black.

Of all the drugstore beauty products, Maybelline knows a thing or two about mascara's. The new #FalsiePushUpDrama has a cup-shaped bristle that scoops, coats and lifts lashes. The plumping formula is creamy enough that it glides smoothly onto the lashes for a dramatic, volumizing effect. Exactly what we need for brighter eyes!

Now that we have our five Maybelline products, let's move on to this easy step-by-step everyday eye makeup look.

1. Using the spoolie inside the Browdrama Pro Palette, comb through your eyebrows.

2. Taking one side of the double ended angle brush (also included with brow palette), dip into the wax. Apply the wax evenly over the entire eyebrow.

TIP: Do your best to apply the smallest amount of wax. If you apply too much, the wax will clump and not allow you to get a smooth surface for the next step.

3. Using the second side of the angle brush, pick up some of the powder. Position the angle brush directly under the eyebrow - in one smooth motion, line underneath the eyebrow. Do the exact same to the top of eyebrow. Dipping the brush back into powder, begin to fill the sparse areas of your brow. Use the spoolie to blend the powder throughout the brow hairs.

TIP: For the most natural brows, concentrate most of the powder from the middle to the tail. This will give you more definition. Try to have a lighter application to the front of brows.

4. To define and highlight the brows, apply a light layer of concealer to the brow-bone. Dab concealer with fingers to blend it into the skin.

TIP: Once you have highlighted your brow-bone, take a little more of concealer and use it over the entire lid as your eye-shadow primer. This also helps cancel out any skin discolorations, veins or circles under the eyes.

5. Get a small synthetic blending brush. Pick up some of the highlight powder in the brow palette. Swipe this over the entire lid.

6. After wiping off the blending brush, dip the brush into the cream eye-shadow. Place the eye-shadow on the lid, blending into the crease. This is will give you a soft wash of color over the eyes.

TIP: For everyday eye looks, use Maybelline Color Tattoo in Creamy Beige, Matte Brown, Nude Pink and Pure Nude.

7. Taking a small flat blending brush, pick up some of the cream eye-shadow then apply it to the lower lash line. Blend.

8. Curl lashes.

9. Open up your tube of Maybelline #FalsiesPushUpDrama, take the wand and place it at the bottom of the lash line. Glide the brush upward - gently moving it from side to side in a wiggling motion.

TIP: When taking the mascara wand out of the tube, do not pump it in and out of the tube. This will ruin your mascara. Instead, twirl the wand inside the tube before pulling it completely out.

9. (cont.) After applying mascara to the outer lashes, tilt the wand about 45 degrees and coat the inner lashes.

After I applied the first layer of #FalsiesPumpUpDrama, you'll notice the lashes have gained volume and length. This is a great result - especially after just one coat.

But, there is a way to get even more volume out of this mascara.

10. TRICK: Using the spoolie from before, dip it into a little bit of translucent powder. Apply the powder onto lashes in the same exact way as we did our first layer of mascara.

Follow up with a second coat of mascara. - Do you see the added volumizing effect? What about the length?

As you can see, with two coats of #FalsiesPumpUpDrama mascara + translucent powder you AH-mazing looking lashes. No need to mess with false lashes - especially for an everyday look.

There is only one last trick left. Do you notice that sometimes there are these tiny little gaps in between your upper lashes? Let's fix that.

11. With the tip of the masterkajal eye pencil, tight-line your upper lash-line.

TIP: It may take a few times before you and your eyes get used to the feeling of the eye pencil on your upper waterline. I find that if I open up my eyes wide enough looking straight forward, I can run the eye pencil along my lash line with no problems.

You've seen the steps, now take a look at this before + after photo:

You can definitely see what a difference a little bit of eye makeup can do - especially a volumizing mascara.

With that being said, even if you choose not to complete every single step, tip or trick from this tutorial, please go ahead and try out the Maybelline #FalsiesPushUpDrama mascara. Applying this mascara only takes a few minutes, but the dramatic results will last all day long.

4 teaspoons Out of Africa Pure Unrefined Shea Butter
2 tablespoons warm honey
2 tablespoons jojoba oil or olive oil
1 teaspoon essential oil
Plastic candy sheet mold

Step 1

“Sometimes a relaxing bubble bath is all it takes to seize the day," explains lifestyle expert Jasmine Stringer of carpediemwithjasmine.com. "To make these bath bombs successfully, it is important to have your ingredients measured out and ready to mix."

Step 2

Combine and stir the baking soda, citric acid, cornstarch and powdered milk in a bowl.

Step 3

Melt the Out of Africa Pure Unrefined Shea Butter along with the honey and oil over a low heat in a small pot on the stove. The Out of Africa Shea Butter is loaded with antioxidants and vitamins A, E, & F along with healthy fatty acids and valuable phytonutrients.

Step 4

Add the melted ingredients to the dry mixture, using a whisk to thoroughly combine everything. For an enhanced spa feel and fragrance, place a few drops of your favorite essential oil. Mix well.

Step 5

The ingredients should begin to hold together. Working quickly, use your hands to press the mix firmly into the trays. Leave the mixture in the mold for a couple of minutes and then pop out. While one tray is drying, work on the next.

Tip: “I put a cookie sheet over the trays, flipped them over and then lifted the mold off. If you have anything leftover, just dry the product out, leave it loose and turn it into a bath powder. Simply leave the mixture in the bowl for 24 hours, periodically mixing the ingredients to break up the clumps. Once all of the moisture is gone, place in a mason jar with a colorful ribbon.”

Step 6

Let the bath bombs dry overnight. The next day, place them in a decorative bag or drop 1 to 2 bombs into your tub and relax.

As someone who heavily relies on their vehicle for absolutely EVERYTHING, maintaining my vehicle in good working condition is a huge priority.

I've had my Avenger for about 2 years now and I honestly would not be able to function without him.(If you're wondering, my Avenger goes by the name of Thor - seems fitting, right?)

It is because of Thor, I'm able to drive my daughter to her bus stop every morning, drive to my client appointments, go to networking events and basically, take care of all my daily needs - both business as well as personal.

Now, I know for a fact that I' am not the only person feels this way about their vehicle, today I wanted to share a few steps that I have learned to do over the years in order to keep my ride in good driving condition.

DON'T SKIP THESE STEPS TO MAINTAINING YOUR RIDE

1. Get Routine Oil Changes

I know the thought of driving your vehicle to a shop to get a routine oil change may seem like a daunting experience, but in all honesty - this is a crucial step.

Ideally you want to get an oil change at least once a year. I say "ideally" because this will differ from person to person. In my case, I take Thor for his oil change on average every 3 to 6 months. That may sound like it's done too often, but for someone who drives an insane amount of mileage on a weekly basis, it actually works out well.

Since I'm the only one who drives Thor, it's my responsibility to get this done when I'm able to fit it in my schedule. Earlier this week while driving home from a client appointment, I stopped by a Walmart Auto Care Center.

The entire oil change process took no more than 15 minutes. In addition to changing the oil using Quaker State Advanced Durability Motor Oil, they also checked the filters and tire pressure. Overall, the service was excellent, quick and painless. So, the time your vehicle is in need of an oil change, go to your nearest Walmart. You'll thank me for it.

2. Check Both Pump + Air Filters Regularly

This step goes in unison with getting the oil changed. While the mechanic is under your vehicle, you should go ahead and ask them to check the filters. This is important because if your filters are extremely dirty, or broken this can cause improper filtering throughout the vehicle.

3. Check The Tire Pressure

Tires that are not properly filled can certainly effect the way your vehicle drives. I try to do this at least once a week while pumping gas at my local gas station. BTW, if you do not feel comfortable doing this, you can ask the mechanic at Walmart Auto Service to do it for you while they change your oil.

4. Check Your Oil

In between oil changes - at least once a month - checking the oil levels will tell you if the vehicle is running low on oil. Every car has a long "dipstick" used for this. Just pull it out, wipe it clean with a rag and insert it into the oil reservoir. By looking at the oil levels, you will notice if you need to add a quart of oil or not. If you do have to add oil, unscrew the oil cap and pour the oil inside using a funnel.

5. Wash Your Car

This step is self explanatory. Keeping your vehicle clean inside and out, will not only make you feel good but it will also make you look good while driving to work, school or while running daily errands.

And trust me when I tell you, feeling + looking good will make all the difference while you're going about your daily routine.

I hope you find these steps to maintaining your ride helpful. As independent women, having a running reliable vehicle is extremely vital. Your vehicle gives you a sense of freedom that most of us (myself included) take for granted. However, by just taking a few preventative measures, you can ensure that your vehicle will never let you + your family down.

I love going to the nail salon to get a weekly manicure. It's one of those small treats that really helps make me feel "put together".

1. Choose three polishes that blend well together, spanning from dark to light. Not sure what to pick? You can’t go wrong with a deep, opaque color, a lighter shade of the same color, and white. Polish your nails with your darkest color. Allow them to dry.

2. Pour two small dollops of your medium and light colors on a smooth surface (like a piece of wax paper). The two dollops together should be about two-thirds the length of your nails. Use a toothpick or orangewood stick to swirl them together slightly so they mix in the middle, forming a gradient.

3. Dip the edge of a cosmetic sponge directly into your dollops of nail polish then align the sponge so that the lightest color is at the tip of your nail. Press the polish onto your nails with the sponge, dabbing and repeating until you achieve the desired effect. This doesn’t have to be precise!

4. Clean up the edges with our polish corrector pen or a thin brush dipped in polish remover. Finish with a top coat. Voilà!

1. Sweet Treats

2. Greasy Foods

The grease form fatty meats like fried chicken and french fries can cause more secretion on the scalp. You need a clean, debris free scalp or your hair will not grow healthy and your follicle could be damaged.

3. Salty Foods

Think chips and canned/frozen meals. Consuming a lot of salty meals and snacks will dry your hair out and leave it weak, lifeless and breaking.

4. Low Protein, Filler Foods

Starches like pasta and a lot of cereals which can be low in protein will leave your hair limp and unhealthy. That bounce and shine most ladies want is not possible without a healthy dose of protein.

People should be eating nutrient and antioxidant rich foods like fruits and vegetables. These help hydrate your scalp and strengthen your hair.

1. Eggs

Eggs contain the protein, zinc and iron that your hair and body needs. Zinc benefits for hair include promotion of cell reproduction, tissue growth and repair of broken tissues. It also maintains the oil-secreting glands that are attached to your hair follicles, thus decreasing their chances of falling out.

2. Tomatoes

Tomatoes have antioxidants that aid in scalp circulation. A healthy scalp leads to happy hair. Add to a salad or mix into your favorite dish for a pop of color and tons of fresh flavor.

3. Greek Yogurt

Greek yogurt is an amazing source of protein, vitamin B5 and vitamin D. Pantothenic acid (vitamin B5) is great for keeping the scalp clean and free from film and debris. This keeps the follicles from becoming irritated and promotes healthy, strong hair growth. Add fruit, nuts and granola for an energizing midday snack.

4. Lean Protein

Opt for healthy lean protein sources like grilled chicken or baked salmon. Your hair is made of protein so it only makes sense that you're going to want to enjoy nice lean proteins. If your diet lacks protein your body will begin rationing the protein left which will lead to hair loss. Protein also has the iron you need for healthier, beautiful hair.

Back to School Basic Must Haves for Junior High Students - #JustACallAway

As I sit here to write this article sharing our short list of back to school basic must haves for Junior High students, I still can't believe that my Lil Diva will be in seventh grade this school year. To look at her now, realizing that in a just a few more years she will be in High School then leaving for college makes me want to throw myself on the floor, curl up in the fetus position - and just stay there!

Sounds like someones being a tad dramatic, huh?

I guess you can say I'm getting way ahead of myself , but none the less, she will be in her second year of Junior High as of next Wednesday, August 26.

As a junior high student her school schedule, as well as her classwork will be more structured and detailed from what it was last school year. Although changes to classwork and schedules are to be expected, at least the overall requirements set by her school, Columbus City Preparatory School for Girls, are for the most part, relatively standard.

However, as she gets older, her list of "must haves", has changed drastically as you'll see in our list of back to school basics listed below.

If you happen to be in a similar situation where your student is beginning Junior High (or even High School) this school year, please consider all of the follow recommendations.

1. MOBILE SERVICE

In addition to the standard list of school supplies every student needs, a reliable mobile service is certainly one of our top must haves for our daughter. Now that she is more independent and responsible for getting to her bus stop on time, having a cell phone helps. She can call me from the bus stop in the mornings, stay in contact with me or her dad during the day as well as after school hours while she is busy with her after school activities.

We did some research on several different mobile services before deciding that the Walmart Family Mobile (WFM) 4G LTE service was the best option for her.

For starters, the WFM service is only $29.88/month (for the first line) with unlimited talk, text & data which includes up to 1G of 4G LTE data.

Now that she is getting older and gaining more independence, she can use her cell phone to stay in contact with both myself and her dad at any given time during her day. I like knowing that she is #JustACallAway .

2. PLANNER / AGENDA

A day planner or student agenda is not always included on the school supply list, but in my opinion it is a must have for any junior high student. Last year, she learned what it's like to move from class to class each one having a different teacher and different class rules. Having her agenda with her during the day, she is able to keep track of her class assignments, daily homework, project due dates, and test schedules.

3. EXTERNAL HARD-DRIVE / USP PORT

At first I thought purchasing her a hard-drive was a bit too much, but I have to admit that having one just for her has certainly come in handy. When there is a project due or any extra credit work offered, she can begin working on it during her homeroom or study class using the computers at CCPSG and save her in-progress work onto her device. This way she doesn't have to be bothered with printing her work or loosing her notes - all her work is nicely saved in one convenient place.

4. TRAPPER KEEPER

With all the different classes she'll be attending, walking around school with several books and folders in her arms can be difficult and tiresome. Yes, she does have a locker, but going to her locker to switch out her notebooks will not always be an option. To make it easier for herself, she decided that the trapper keeper she used last school year would come in handy. Inside she has a small pouch that holds her pencils/pens and using the dividers, she keeps her main folders and notes neatly organized inside.

Of course all school supply lists require the essentials like notebooks, folders, pencils, loose leaf paper, binders, etc; but the four listed here today can certainly help your student during this upcoming school year.

Back to School: The Rosette Embellished Ponytail Tutorial

Today's easy diy hair tutorial is perfect everyone, especially those of you who are going back to school.

According to Latest-Hairstyles.com contributor Melissa Cook, "this rosette embellished ponytail takes the same amount of time as a regular ponytail and is ten times cuter than the average pony look."

What You Need:

– brush
– two clear elastic bands
– four to five bobby pins
– medium hold hairspray

The Rosette Embellished Ponytail Tutorial:

Step 1

Begin by brushing through the hair to remove any tangles and part the hair in the preferred spot. Separate off small sections of hair on each side of the head.

Step 2

Bring the two sections to the back of the head and over the rest of the hair, then tie it together with an elastic band.

Step 3

Now braid this small ponytail section into a basic three-strand braid and tie off the end with a second elastic band.

Step 4

Roll the braid up and towards towards the elastic band at the top, creating a rosette shape.

Step 5

Pin down the edges of the rosette with four to five bobby pins, making sure they stay hidden underneath.

Step 6

Spray the style with a medium hold hairspray and you are ready to go!

If you have been following this blog for a while, then you know that I do not share a lot of information about my other half...my "partner in crime" and soulmate.

I have good reasons why I prefer to keep Him a mystery - mainly because I am selfish and do not like to share him, but the biggest reason is that He is not about the blogger/online life. He loves his privacy and I deeply respect that.

Although that last statement is true, there is one aspect of His life that I am going to share with you today and that's: He is a semi-heavy smoker. Of course, this is a habit I was well aware of from the very start of our relationship, but what I wasn't prepared for was the fact that I would eventually get annoyed by it.

Annoyed?

Yes, extremely...annoyed. Here's why.

My biggest pet peeve of His smoking habit is the odor that's left lingering behind. If you live, or have lived with a smoker, you know exactly what I am talking about. The odor is similar to that of a dirty old ashtray filled with empty filters and ashes.

Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not saying the He leaves all his smoking 'ish around the house. Not at all. He does his best to keep everything downstairs in his man cave, but the issue is: I can still smell it.

Since all my previous attempts at helping Him curve his habit have failed miserably, I decided to take another approach:

I convinced Him to try blu PLUS+ e-Cigs.

5. Upclose look at the blu tank

9. Taking both the flavor tank + battery, screw these two together to assemble the eCig

As you can see, putting the kit together is simple and straight forward, but is blu PLUS+ worth it?

According to Him, although using the e-cig is not exactly the same as smoking his traditional cig, it does get "the job done".
