Hi all, I found this interesting opinion on the website, religioustolerance.org

William Easum
"Bill" Easum is the "Senior Managing Partner of Easum, Bandy and Associates (formerly 21st Century Strategies). Bill is one of the most highly respected church consultants and Christian futurists in North America." 1 He describes some of the trends that he expects in the Christian church during the 21st century:

Worship will focus on experiences of God rather than learning about God.
The unchurched, who he describes as "biblically illiterate and ethically void" is a growing segment of society. They need to "experience the presence (immanence) of God."
Churches will become a safe place where the parishioners can seek protection from the increasing hostility of the world which will be directed against Christians.
Programs will be aimed at converting the unchurched rather than pulling in life-long Christians.
Churches will make disciples rather than encouraging the laity to hold offices in the church.
House churches and small groups will proliferate.
A high commitment will be expected of all.
There will be an Increased role for the laity.
Churches will become multicultural.
Quasi-denominations (loose alliances of churches) will emerge.
Churches will tend to be more theologically conservative.
The latest technology will be exploited.
Churches will focus on serving an geographical area.

S.O.U.L Conference

The S.O.U.L conference, is sponsered by the National Office of Black ministries. Providing a safeplace for Episcopal youth, in grades 5-12, from across the church, to meet and grow together in relationship with one another in Christ. Participants will attend workshops, engage in methods of bible study and spiritual formation, develop key leadership skills through group discussion and fun activities, learn to design and organize future church wide conferences and events, and learn to claim greater visibility and voice within the church. It will take place in Daytona Beach, Florida from August 30th to September 4th. Please encourage your youth to apply. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Youth Missioner of the Diocese of Newark ~ Kaileen T. Alston by e-mail or phone (973) 430-9991 or the Rev. Welcome to the St. John's Youth Cafe' Blog. We are a ministry that is part of St. John's Episcopal Church in Downtown Los Angeles. The Youth Cafe' is still in it's opening stages and so there will be more to come in the near future. My name is Deacon Lester and I am blessed to share this blog with the dynamic and energetic youth members of St. John's. I will merely be the web-jedi who will update the information on this blog.

The St. John's Youth Cafe' is a creative space in which we will journey through the biblical narrative, finding our story within the Gospel. We engage in mutual theological reflection, eclectic music, and a weekly podcast giving voice to how the Gospel can be relevent for us today.
