Rhonda Dennis is proud to be born and raised in South Louisiana. Her enthusiasm for the uniqueness of Louisiana’s culture is evident in her writing. Even though she loved writing, she put it on hold to work in the medical field.

After starting a family, she went back to college where her passion was reignited and Rhonda wrote her first novel, Going Home, Book One of the Green Bayou Novel Series. Rhonda lives in a small town in South Louisiana with her husband, Doyle, and her son, Sean. She appreciates the outdoors, spending time with her family and friends, and loves cooking.

“H-hello, Trace.” She hated that stupid break in her voice. Trace made her nervous. Always had.He stopped in front of her. He stood at several inches over six feet, while she barely skimmed five feet three. Skye tilted her head back so that she could meet his stare.

“It’s been a long time,” Trace said, the words a deep, dark rumble. His voice went perfectly with the rock hard body and the sexy face—a voice that a woman could imagine in the darkness.

She swallowed because her throat was suddenly dry. “Yes, it has.” Ten years and three months. Not that she’d counted.

That assessing gaze of his slid down her body once more. There was an awareness in his stare that she hadn’t expected. A heat that made her remember too many things.

He was close enough to touch. Close enough for her to smell the crisp, masculine scent that clung to him.

His nostrils flared, as if he were catching her scent, too.

“You look good, Skye.” Again, that heat was in his stare. A heat that said he knew her intimately.

He leaned back in his chair. The leather groaned beneath him. “We’ll get to that…”

He tapped his chin. “You’re not here for pleasantries, you’re not here for sex, then why have you come looking for me?”

He stilled. The heat banked in his eyes as his whole expression instantly became guarded. “And what makes you so sure of that?”

Author bio

Lisa Amowitz was born in Queens and raised in the wilds of Long Island, New York where she climbed trees, thought small creatures lived under rocks and studied ant hills. And drew. A lot.

When she hit her teens, she realized that Long Island was too small for her and she needed to escape. So she went to college in Pittsburgh. Go figure.

On leaving college, Lisa became a graphic designer living in New York City. She eventually married her husband of a zillion years, had two lovely children, and was swept away to a fairy tale life in the Bronx, where, unbelievably there are more trees and wilderness than her hometown. She can see the Hudson River from her kitchen window.

Lisa has been a professor of Graphic Design at her beloved Bronx Community College where she has been tormenting and cajoling students for nearly seventeen years. She started writing eight years ago because she wanted something to illustrate, but somehow, instead ended up writing YA. Probably because her mind is too dark and twisted for small children.

BREAKING GLASS which will be released in July, 2013 from Spencer Hill Press, is her first published work. VISION, the first of the Finder series will be released in 2014, along with an unnamed sequel in the following year. LIFE AND BETH will also be released in the near future, along with graphic novel style art.

A van pulled up dirt flying behind it. It had been such a dry summer already, they were lucky the crops were still growing. He didn’t have long to think that before his sister jumped out of the van and was running at him. He walked down the steps laughing. “You didn’t even shut your door.” She launched herself and he caught her like he used to when she was little. “You’re almost as tall as I am. He complained laughing and hugging her. “I’ve missed you little sister.” He sighed, it felt so good to be able to hug his sister. It had been far too long.

“I’ve missed you too.” She hopped down and looked up at him. He was just as big as ever. She was almost six feet tall he had to be six foot four.

John looked her over as only a big brother could. Her black hair was down shining as usual her naturally tan skin looked flawless as ever. His sister had always taken good care of herself. She looked a little too thin for him though. She smiled as he watched her, her black eyes crinkling a little.

“I eat just fine.” She said punching his shoulder. “I know that look you’re trying to figure out, how to fatten me up.”She laughed and it made John smile. It had been so long since he’d heard that laugh. “Come on Allison.” She glanced behind her to see her friend was still in the van just watching them. “You remember Allison don’t you?” She had to look back at him to see his reaction as Allison climbed out of the van slowly.

John looked up and his breath caught for a moment. He had forgotten how beautiful she was. Finally finding his voice he mumbled an “of course how are you?” He felt his heart jump when their eyes met. Her blond hair looked good in the pixie cut that it was in now. She smiled shyly and he saw one dimple. He couldn’t remember if she had two and found himself wanting to make her smile enough to find out. Her skin was so white he worried about her burning and found he wanted to make her come out of the sun. She was short compared to everyone else and had wonderful curves that he knew she was self-conscious about. He reminded himself to tell her how beautiful he thought she was when they were alone.

“Hi John.” She answered smiling a bit. She felt so nervous. She had told him some very personal stuff in her emails. It was odd how daring she was when she wasn’t looking at him but now…She couldn’t believe he knew that stuff about her. She hadn’t thought about seeing him after telling him. She looked into his eyes and forgot all of that. All she could think about was him and how handsome he was. She couldn’t seem to pull her eyes away from his.

His sister elbowed him making him look away from the beauty of Allison. “Are you going to help us with bags or make us do it?” She asked raising one eyebrow at him.

John knew he had been caught and felt his face burn with embarrassment. “Why don’t you drive the van down to the house you used last time you were here? Joe do you wanna help me get everything inside?” John asked, as soon as he was done talking to his sister he looked back at Allison seemingly unable to stop watching her.

He heard movement causing him to look away again. Joe had come off the porch and was standing near him a smile playing on his lips. Sam had the same damn smile, like the cat that had eaten the canary. They all knew, it would only be a matter of time before his sister found out. If she hadn’t already figured out what was going on. She was pretty smart like that. He guessed it came with being a wedding planner. He shrugged and figured there wasn’t any way he was going to be able to hide it if he couldn’t even take his eyes off her. He decided to hell with it. He didn’t really care. If his sister had a problem with it he was sure he would find out soon enough.

“That sounds good. Are you Sam?”Jazz turned to the girl next to John. It was clear that her brother was going to be paying more attention to her friend this visit than to her. Honestly Jasmine didn’t mind though. She decided she’d wait until her brother brought it up to her though.

“Yeah, that’d be me. Thank you so much for coming.” She walked up and shook the girl’s hand. She couldn’t believe how much the two looked alike but yet so different. Where John was big and bulkily she was slim and delicate. Sam decided that it was because of the hard muscle building job that John did on a daily basis. Sam was glad that she had been told so many times that Luke hadn’t looked at anyone until meeting her. She could admit to herself that if she hadn’t, she would be grilling Luke about what he thought of Jasmine. The woman was gorgeous and she would have been jealous that Luke had already met her and possibly tried to hit on her when she had visited before. Sam shrugged, it wasn’t new to her that she was jealous of other women knowing Luke better than her. She had run into a few women in town that knew him well and had been jealous. Luke thought it was cute.

Jasmine looked at the woman. She certainly didn’t look like someone that would want to plan a wedding. Most of the women that were bridzillas were very conscious of their appearance. Not wanting to get dirty, having to have their hair, nails and makeup done. Sam didn’t look like she had done any one of those things. Her long brown hair pulled back in just a ponytail, no makeup and her hands had clearly seen some rough work. She could tell when they shook hands that they were tough. She smiled realizing that this wedding might be the easiest one she’d ever done. “Don’t worry about it I’m excited to start my own business. We’ll meet you down there ok?” Jasmine looked at her brother to find him and Allison still looking at each other. She shook her head and ran back to the van and climbed in.

Allison gave one last look at John before climbing in as well.

“Not one word.” John threatened as he watched the van back out before taking off after it. He could hear Joe and Sam laughing behind him.

Allison couldn’t believe how handsome John was. The way he looked at her just made her toes curl. She could barely get out a greeting to the man. His black hair, so much like his sisters, was a little longer than she remembered but it matched his bronze skin tone and was far from girlie. With his strong chiseled chin and thick neck you would never mistake him for a woman. His muscles still stood out like hard iron under smooth skin, she found herself wanting to touch those distinct muscles just to see how strong he really was.

“So what was that about?” Jazz asked her friend pulling her from her musing.

“I don’t know what you mean.”Allison was quiet by nature and she hated talking about anything relating to her personal life, especially any men in her life. She had always been that way but it was even worse when the man in question was her best friend’s brother.

“You, and my brother, we are best friends. I know you, something is going on… Do you like him?” The house wasn’t that far away she didn’t have time to beat around the bush.

“Your brother is very handsome.”Allison started, she paused thinking about how handsome he was. She shook her head “but I hardly know him.” She finished a blush creeping up her neck. Again she lamented how much she had told John in her emails. It was so much easier to talk over the internet than in person. She never imagined she would see him again. Though, honestly most of her dreams had her seeing him, a lot of him.

They stopped at the house and Allison opened the door quickly trying to get away from her friends prying only to smack John with the door. “Oh my God John, are you alright? I’m so sorry I didn’t see you.” She put her hand on his back as he was bent over. The contact sent a thrill through her. Her heart beat double time. She took her hand off him afraid of the reaction with such a small touch. He stood back up towering over her. Rather than make her frightened she found herself feeling safe and wanting to hide herself in his big strong arms.

“I’m fine Ally Cat.” He whispered looking down at her. He forgot the pain and that anyone else was near when he looked into her eyes again. He almost bent down and kissed her when a door slammed.

“Trying to beat up my brother?”Jazz asked laughing. Joe already had the back end open and was pulling out bags.

John shook his head giving Allison a small embarrassed smile before moving to the back of the van. It had taken longer than he would have thought with only two women but his sister had a lot of boxes for the wedding. “Why do you have a van?” He asked as they finished unloading. “You have a lot of crap.”

“Well that would be why I have a van. Need space for all this crap and it can’t get wet so, I can’t use a truck. I’m thinking of down grading though. I’ve offered the van to Allison, for her crazy idea of running a daycare. Why anyone would want to be around kids that much I have no idea.” She laughed putting an arm around her friend.

“I would.” John answered seriously looking down at Allison. She smiled a bit showing just the one dimple. He was going to have to try harder.

Rioden bowed his head my way and told us to hurry up as he stepped out of the hotel room. Xander came up from behind me and smiled his beautiful smile of encouragement at me.

“You okay?”

“Um, yeah, I think so. I mean, that’s a lot of information to put on a girl, you know?” I teased halfheartedly.

He reached his hand up to my face and touched my cheek briefly, before pushing a strand of hair out of my eyes and gently tucking it behind my ear.

“You’re not a girl - you’re a Princess, remember? You are so much stronger than you know. You’ll see.”

Stepping back, he opened the door for me and his eyes twinkled as he added, “Come on Princess, let’s go eat.”

I started to walk by him stoically, like he hadn’t said anything, and then my fist darted out and knocked him in the gut as I continued on out the door. Grasping his stomach as he shut the door behind me he groaned, “See? I said you were stronger than you knew!”

Joshua and I both headed out of the council hall with Jacqueline leading the way. The line of

young men had barely dwindled. I avoided their stare, their curiosity as they slowly proceeded

forward, giving the attendant their name. I wondered how they knew about me and more

importantly what they knew. Jacqueline walked a few feet ahead of us, giving us privacy to talk. I

silently thanked her for still respecting us and our wishes. She was probably the only one in Haven who liked us. I didn’t know if I should be relieved or angered by the recent news. I could feel the whispers, like tingles against bare skin as we walked further from council hall and rounded the corner. I was grateful to be out of sight from all those curious stares. "I guess we should consider ourselves lucky," I remarked. I didn't feel lucky. I tried to sound upbeat, but everything was quickly falling apart around us.

Joshua scoffed at the idea. "Lucky? I wouldn't go that far," he emphasized. "This is how it

starts. Eventually, they'll make it a crime for us to see one another." He sounded disgusted.

"They sort of already are," I remarked, trying to understand the council's decision. "I think

they just want to make sure I'm protected." Though I didn't quite understand how setting me up to

meet multiple bachelors was any form of protection. It seemed as if they only wanted to keep

Joshua away from me. The one person I could trust, implicitly. I knew the rules were different

because I was different. They didn’t seem particularly bothered by Joshua having a girl in his room.

It didn’t seem fair.

"Seems like they don't really care what we think at all," Joshua retorted as we headed into

our building. "Were you okay last night? I worried when Landon escorted you out of the dormitory."

I walked slowly up the stairs, Jacqueline just a few feet ahead of us. "Aside from being

locked in a room with no windows." I sighed. "At least they're giving me freedom from the tech

center and a real bed. I should be grateful," I mocked. I didn't feel grateful, but I knew his mother at least tried to make it easier for me. As soon as we crested the top stair, I froze in place. The building shook with an alarming intensity as the first drone flew low overhead. The downstairs chandelier swayed and I held onto Joshua's arm and my eyes widened in terror. "What do you think is going on?" I asked watching the movement grow stronger as vibrations echoed through the dormitory. A nearby painting affixed to the wall crashed to the floor, the glass breaking. I could feel the ground quake beneath my feet as Joshua grabbed my hand, refusing to let go.

"We're being attacked." It wasn't a question. Together, we jogged briskly down the hall

toward our rooms. I didn't know how much time we had. All I knew was the government was here, and they were searching for me!

Meeting Author Abbi Glines + Giveaway

Hey all, I hope you're having a wonderful weekend and too all those Aussie's out there a wonderful LONG weekend. Yesterday (9th June) I went with my sister into Sydney for Abbi Glines book signing, we waited in line for about an hour, there was quiet a turn out which was great. While waiting in line I met some other passionate book lovers including the awesome Tracey from YA Book Addict .

When it was my turn to talk to Abbi, I was so nervous. As soon as I put my book "The Vincent Brothers" down she said to me "Are you a Sawyer's girl?" Me, not having read The Vincent Brothers yet of course said "No,"I'm Team Beau all the way!" I got a giggle reply. ;-) I've finally started The Vincent Brothers today and I do look forward to seeing this new side to Sawyer, you never know I may switch sides...or maybe not, lol (I'm such a sucker for those bad boys).

I found out that Abbi doesn't like Vegemite, she did try her hardest. Most of us Aussie's have grown up on Vegemite so to us it's a normal thing to have vegemite on toast in the mornings. I'm definitely a vegemite kid! ;-)

There's an amazing Skype interview with Abbi Glines over at Novels On The Run done by Michelle. Make sure you check it out, it is funny and she tells alot about what she's experiencing over here in Australia.

“What are you saying?”

“I just said it, dumbass,” Jules sasses. “I know you’re used to dealing with brainless skanks, so let me spell it out. The rest of the time we have together, there are no rules. (“What fiction most influenced your childhood, and what effect did those stories have on Death, Dickinson, and the Demented Life of Frenchie Garcia?”)

The story that most influenced my childhood is probably one of Ray Bradbury’s short stories titled All Summer in One Day. It’s the story of a girl named Margot who lives on Venus. She is locked in a closet by her classmates during the only hour that the sun makes its appearance on the planet every seven years. It ends with her classmates remembering Margot after they have enjoyed the sun and it has once again disappeared for another seven years and they unlock the closet.

That sixth grade teacher, he had a bad rep with the students because he was kind of strict and maybe even a little condescending, but he knew how to read a story so we would beg him to read to us. When he came to the end of that story, I remember feeling such huge empathy for Margot, and this surge of anger for the injustice done to her. But I also remember thinking she wouldn’t be the kind of person to lash back at her classmates. She would never be the kind of person to be as mean, and malicious, and callous as they were.

So, when our teacher asked us to write a scene of what might have happened once Margot came face to face with her classmates, I imagined her being hurt, but still wise and forgiving and able to impart some wisdom to those who bullied her. I wrote this scene were Margot talks about how sometimes it takes time and patience to see the beauty in the world, or in someone or something. And how perhaps they would one day see the beauty in her. I liked the idea of adding to that story and when our teacher chose to read one to the class, it was mine. I remember feeling really proud, especially since he usually didn’t pay many compliments. And that story I think was really my first understanding of character, of struggle and pain and unfairness, of growth within a character. And I’ve remembered it ever since. I think it’s one of the main reasons my stories are more character driven than plot driven.

I think for a minute. “Well, at first, it is amazing. People paying money to see me perform, asking for my autograph, taking my picture... It feels surreal. But then people start telling you what to do, and you have an image to keep up.” I shake my head. “Then you realize, your dream... it's... not at all what you pictured. My Review

Ednah Walters is one of my favourite Indie authors, she writes Contemporary Romance, Young Adult and now New Adult. No matter what genre, her writing is flawless, Ednah has the ability to draw the reader right into the story and draw out all their emotions. Runes has just blown me away, another spell-binding story with amazing characters.

Our main character Raine is your average teenage girl, she's on the school swim team, has two best friends who've always been there, she's crushing on Erick which just happens to be one of her long life best friends. Raine is still trying to cope with the disappearance of her father, who's plane crashed and his body was never recovered. Her mother still holds out all hope that he is alive and will come home.

With all this happening Raine was surprised when a mysterious man knocked on her door and asked to see her best friend Erick. From that moment her life changed completely.

No matter where Raine went her new neighbour Torin St James wasn't too far away, he always seemed to show up when she was in trouble and needed help. She started to notice weird things about Torin and it became her mission to find out what he was all about. As days go on feelings start to develop for the HOT Harley riding spunk from next door.

Torin, every woman's fantasy man. Gorgeous blue eyes, a smile that'll make you weak in the knees..bound in leather and rides a Harley, definitely the bad boy next door. Ednah really outdone herself with this bad boy, she really brought Torin to life and he'll make everyone feel those butterflies. My new fictional boy crush! ;-)

With a powerfully magnetic storyline, a plot that'll have you guessing and glued to every page, characters that'll leave you inspired, there's not much this book doesn't possess. Ednah has brought a new world along with the runes, one you'll find yourself coming back for and thinking about way after you've finished the last page.
