Soup

I LOVE soup on cold winter days!

All you need is:

A big lump of butter

1 onion

3 pieces of chicken

2 sticks of celery

1/2 L of chicken stock

Cabbage

2 carrots

2 tbsp flour

Rosemary, parsley and basil

Salt and pepper

Place the butter in a deep pan and add the onions, carrots and celery. Gently fry them until soft, then add the chicken (I used raw chicken so it had to cook longer). Then add flour. Add the chicken stock and cabbage, then bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and let it simmer for 10 minutes. Then season! (depends a bit on what spices and herbs you like)

Don't you just love waking up one morning and realizing that your favourite pair of booties are covered in weird stuff, and that one of them is in fact loosing the heel? (I need to buy glue, QUICK.)

That's always a good reason to buy new shoes!
This time I want shoes that you need to look at twice (The kind you shoes that you think looks cool and fuck-ugly at the same time!)

My Jazz addiction; still going strong.

Oh and I had the BEST breakfast today: A big, tender piece of french roastbeef with pomme de terre and rucola salad. HEAVEN.

When I come home from Paris I'm always depressed. Seeing the huge range of meat, fish, vegetables and fruit in France and then comparing it to Norway... (And Lets not EVEN Mention the prices in norway!).

When it comes to food, I was born in the wrong country.

I'm a mussel and coke addict. Really.

I'm also widly addicted to mushrooms. (A long time ago I was even in the local news paper because I had found 5 kg of mushrooms).

Because I'm Norwegian, I've been picking wild mushrooms in Norwegian and Swedish woods since I was a little child. We are blessed with so many lovely mushrooms. Ofc we have some poisonous too, but you gotta know your shit.

BUT MY favourite mushroom are the morels (aka morilles). THE BEST. Tonight I'm going to cook something with them, yeahyeah

I MISS SUMMER!

I love looking through photo albums. The photos below were taken when I was in Sweden with C. It was the best time! Travelling with friends is the most amazing feeling!

And in May I'm going to Rome with Y and I want to force miss K to go to Berlin with me before summer. Ja!

Going to a concert tonight. Miss K is coming over to experience my amazing cocktails. (My kitchen is a café during the day and a bar during the night.)

I CAN FINALLY FEEL LIKE AN ADULT. Today I got my EURO BONUS card with SAS. (I must admit, I feel rather cool now that I have it)

I had the PERFECT sunday yesterday. Woke up at 11, then 20 minutes later a very good friend arrived and we made mussels and fries for breakfast! (Enjoy every day like it was your last. nuff' said)

And chocolate mousse after! Tonight I'm making seafood pasta, aka fruits de mer.

I'm mildly addicted to sea food. hehe. This week I've eaten mussels 4 times.

I love looking through my moleskine.

ROMA, such a city! Can't wait to really experience this city for 4 days. We're going to EAT and drink our way through Rome!

During these dark times in Norway (literally. It's winter.) it's nice to have something you can indulge yourself with. For me it's nice smells and JAZZ (AND FOOD OF COURSE) .

Spending at least 10 hours every week at La FNAC in Paris brainwashed me into buying cds.

So I figured I'd try out some jazzy Jazz. HEAVEN! It's like stroking cashmere in your ear.

Sadly I won't be there because I'll be here in Norway, which is rather annoying (knowing that the Kooples will have 50% off and there are at least 10 things I want from there). I'm slowly going loca.

I truly wish I could have stayed longer in Paris (sales, duh). But no.

# Prawn party

One of my favourite British food writers must be Nigel Slater! He's also a journalist and broadcaster. If you want some good cookbooks, buy his cookbooks!
Last night I tried one of his recipes with Prawns and noodles from his book "Nigel Slater's simple cooking". It was so DELICIOUS and easy to make. This is the result of spending too much time on BBC FOOD.

(I'm still hoping that a certain friend of mine will make a cooking blog, cos' I need some more food inspiration! And she's amazing at cooking.)

Food<3

You'll need

3 small bird's-eye chillies
4 cloves garlic
a lump of ginger the size of your thumb
2 stalks of lemongrass
6 lime leaves
lots of coriander
a good splash og vegetable oil
500ml chicken stock
400ml coconut milk
10 cherry tomatoes
2 tbsp Thais fish sauce
the juice of half a lime
200g raw king prawn, frozen
100g dried noodles

Preparation method

Chop the chillies, removing the seeds if you wish, peel the garlic and ginger and chop roughly. Put them all into a food processor. Discard the outer leaves of the lemongrass and roughly chop the inner leaves. Shred the lime leaves and add them all to the chillies with the coriander stems and half of the leaves. Blitz them to a pulp, adding a little vegetable oil.
Place a pan over a moderate heat, add half and fry it, moving it around the pan so it does not scorch. Do this for a minute or two, then pour in the stock and the coconut milk and bring to the boil.
Cut the tomatoes into quarters and add them to the soup with the fish sauce and lime juice. Cook for about seven minutes. Add the prawns - they are cooked when they take on a pink colour. Chop up the remaining coriander leaves and add to the sauce.
When the sauce is done, you take a big swirl of noodles (make the noodles a few minutes before the sauce is finished) on a plate and pour the sauce over it. Sprinkle with some coriander.

This is a nice good portion, enough for 4 people approx. AND LUCKY ME there's still some left in the fridge! Which I'll devour as soon as I get home.
