Product Description

Pros:

*Speedy shipping

*The accessories we received were all of good quality

Cons:

*When i received the package the box of rubberbands was opened all over the box (probably caused in shipping)

*Id like to see a frequently updated website with more to offer and maybe boy items or hair products too

My Feelings:
I am overall very happy with everything i received. I love when i can come across unique hair accessories and I'm also a big fan of bobbles, always have been. I had a great customer service experience with Kathleen and i could definitely recommend Snapaholics. My favorite item were the square beads and the Diva liked these especially. The only thing i would suggest is that the size of the items in diameters and such were listed along with the item so that one wouldn't have to ask per item, this question. Shipping was very fast and i look forward to doing business with Snapaholics again! I'm excited for the new products that will be coming in soon at Snapaholics too.

Cute School Hair Style for Girls- Faux Hawk and Natural Curls

This is a style that we did for the Divas first day of school this year. It is a combination style including a Half- Faux Hawk with Cornrows, Natural Curls and Faux Cornrows. This type of style is a versatile style that can be transformed over a week or so time frame. I'm playing catch up on my posts that I've had piling up so i do not have the products i used jotted down for this style. So if nothing else here is my hair-spiration which took about an hour to do (parting occupied most of the time).

Alot of people have a hard time comprehending how to part for a faux hawk but in reality there isnt a set way to do these and thats the fun aspect of it because you can be creative and make your parts any way youd like. I usually split the hair in two parts straight down the middle of her head and i clip the one side off then i work on the other braiding or twisting toward the mid line. The advice i can give is to "pre-plan" as with any style and if you have to draw it out even on paper before you start parting it can help you get the mental picture better. Sometimes as i braid i find myself creating a new part or adjusting my parting as i go deviating from my original plan. I usually go with the flow when creating styles.

Since i started using completely natural and organic products back in 2010 the Divas hair has grown incredibly. When we started off she had a puff fro as i call it which is a tuft of curls that went in every direction and were roundly placed around her head.

Hairspiration: Large Box Braids, Pony Tail, Curls and Beads

Here is some Hairspiration that is on the simple side for those in need of something cute yet different with a hint of ease. This is a style i did a while back for the Divas Birthday school style. She LOVES these star beads and requested then specifically. They are from Curly Princess Hair Boutique. In total this style took about 25 minutes mostly due to the OCD that i have with parting. The style is self explanatory and can even be altered over several days creating new styles from a blue print of one.

I will begin reviewing the aforementioned products in order.

I will begin with the OBI Curl Enhancing Custard

Product Description

This alcohol-free formula hydrates, elongates, and provides super shine to all types of hair. Does not leave a waxy residue or buildup. Infused with argan oil, grape seed oil, and olive oil.

Scent: Fragrant free lotion-y smell but in a good way

Texture/Consistency: Whipped, light, somewhat translucent creamy custard

- Its free of alot of bad well known ingredients
- Made in the USA
- Nearly no fragrance
- Great amount of product for the price
- Very light weight
- Applies generously and vastly with a small amount used
- Kid-Friendly

Cons
- Could be scented with something or have options to get a scented custard

My Feelings
From the beginning i was intrigued from the scentlessness because it was different in a good way. Then the texture was even more of a distinguishing type which was comparable to a real custard but more whipped and somewhat see through at points. It being white in color is a positive because of the texture of this, it smooths in so good there isn't a trace of color present in my daughters hair and there isn't even a bit of build up even days into using this curl custard. It can be applied a few times over if needed and still looks great and amplifies her curls equally. Id say that this serves more as a style cream for my daughter. I use this also as a light weight gel substitute or a definer but i do not intend on any hold elements coming forth. This is an adult product but works great with children and is friendly to the eyes and skin too. I love the hard to describe lightness that this custard presents, it is a great compliment to my daughters soft and fine loose curls. This is a keeper in our book.

Next up is the OBI Curl Moisture Cream

Use to add moisture and hydration to your hair. Infused with argan oil, lavender oil, grape seed oil, vitamin E, and burdock root. Promotes hair growth without leaving your hair weighed down

Ingredients
Purified Water (Aqua), Behentrimonium Methosulfate and Cetearyl Alcohol, Vitis vinfera (Grape seed) Oil, Vegetable Glycerin, Olea Europaea (Olive) Oil, Argania spinosa (Argan) oil, Gluconolactone and Sodium Benzoate, Arctium lappa (Burdock Root), Lavandula officinalis (Lavender) Oil, Cocos nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Glycine soya (Soybean) Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Oil, Triethanolamine, Fragrance (Parfum)

Instructions

-The scent isnt the greatest, it could come in more scents
-The cost is a little over what wed spend on a 4oz product
-It takes a considerable amount to cover my daughters hair (super fine and thin)
-Jar is slightly leaky
-Has ARGAN oil in it (which is a NO NO for people with sever nut allergies like my daughter, luckily shes not allergic to this specifically)

My Feelings
I have used this alongside and separate from the fellow OBI products we were sent and have spent a few months reviewing these exclusively. So i can say that this moisture cream beginning with its scent kind of through us off a bit because were not into flowery perfume smells. But the texture of this was quite a delight and if the scent was either fragrant free or fruity or herbal it would have been dynamic. I can taste the perfume in my throat after smelling it though. This is the first product (which we tried) that has ever had the most ideal texture as far as a cream moisturizer is concerned for my daughter. In over night braids it softens her hair greatly over night and in the morning its so soft and bouncy. It does take quite a bit of product for it to cover my daughters hair. Overall i do like this product and it will be kept in our rotation.

Spray directly onto hair and scalp. Style as usual. Hydrates curls, adds shine, detangles, and conditions hair. Does not leave buildup or residue with daily use.

Scent: Perfumey
Texture/Consistency: Mildy slippery clear liquid
Cost: $10.00 per 8oz

My Feelings
I like to have a good moisturizing spray on hand because it dually functions for us as a light moisturizer and a finisher. So as i began using this one (which i used exclusively with the other OBI products for a few months now and am currently still using it) i noticed right away some good qualities. I do like how the mist spritzes, it has a nice plume and it covers a vast area with just one spray. In total i use 3-4 sprays to cover her hair if down and not styled and 2 sprays if her hair is styled. I really like this as a finishing product in her hair, it helps to add moisture and doesn't need to be reapplied within the same day. I have noticed that this functions best on her damp or wet hair unless her hair is braided or styled alike. For use of this over time is concerned i've applied this once a day to styles that have stayed in a solid 7-8 days and there is not a bit of build up in sight. I hold ALL products to their claims and this hydration spray has met all of its claims hands down. I do like it. The only thing i would change is the scent of it, id prefer something sweeter or neutral. I'm all for the goodies that this hydration spray has in it. It ranks as being one of the better moisture sprays that we've tried. The fact that this does have a nut oil in it should be considered before buying it if the person who will be getting/using it has nut allergies as it could present a reaction in someone seriously allergic to all nuts...This would work great in all hair types through my experiences.

Last but not least is the OBI Coconut Shea Shampoo Bar

Product Description
This rich moisturizing shampoo will leave your hair soft, conditioned, and hydrated. Shea butter deeply moisturizes and repairs damage to hair and scalp, while coconut oil protects hair from heat and chemical damage.

Saponified Oils of Coconut, Palm, Castor bean, Safflower; Shea Butter, Vegetable Glycerin, Purified Water, Rosemary Essential Oil, Sorbitol, Soybean protein, Sorbitan Oleate, Fragrance.

Instructions
Wet hair thoroughly. Apply the shampoo bar directly to the hair and create lather with your fingers. Rinse hair with cool water.

Color: Yellowish
Scent: Coconut/Beachy
Texture/Consistency: Smooth/Solid
Cost: $ 10.00

Pros
-The bar is smooth
-Moisturizers are evidently present in the shampoo bar
-No particulates
-Made in the USA
-Moderate lather
-Kid friendly
-Amazing fresh beachy scent
-Applies moderately easy
-Natural/Vegan

Cons
-Price is a little out of our normal range for the actual size of the bar
-I had to look up the ingredients because there wasnt a label with the shamp bar

My Feelings
Ive tried several types of shampoo bars to date from varying companies and this one off bat was "different" upon inspection and use. My daughter has very fine and thin hair with loose curls so there are certain products which are in favor and certain which are not in respect to her hair. I like lathering the shampoo bar in my hands first and applying it by hand and then using the bar to apply it to her mids-ends. Because when you dont get a whole lot of lather on a shampoo bar it can be "annoying" when using on on a childs hair as it takes a few min to do it when just using the bar to apply. So my method of use cuts out the time consuming part of applying to my daughters long hair. The scent is amazing! Im in love with the coconut-ty freshness and even after rinsing it is still present lightly. The Diva said "I LOVE this smell" It smells so good! Which the Divas opinion matters most since this is all about her. the shampoo bar makes her hair feel nice and clean without that stripped feeling, its great!

**Overall, As a final note i must give a huge shout out and HUG to Omini for blessing us with FULL size products to review! This is a big plus to us and a necessity as well when it comes to reviewing products efficiently and thoroughly because of the time it takes to get a "good feel" of the products and how they work under various conditions and experiments. I cant provide a great in detail, thorough review when companies send us tiny sample packs containing one or two uses. 4th of July Hairstyles for girls

This is a Hair-spiration post. I meant to post this last year but i had just made it to posting these styles on our FB page and so without further a due here are three 4th of July hairstyles for girls that are super cute, festive and great for all ages that i did this past year on the Diva. I didn't feel directions were needed as the styles are pretty much self explanatory and like most of the time these i created off the top of my head (not saying that someone hasn't thought of them before me, i just didn't see them anywhere else)... I used a variety of products to create these styles and we are still on our all natural kick so that realm of products are all that we use. In the past we have reviewed Mixed Chicks products before, of which i purchased and if interested you can click here and here to reflect on our prior review of the Mixed Chicks Conditioner (adult one) and Mixed Chicks Hair Silk respectively. For a long time i had interest in reviewing this set here but have had no luck until now and during that time Ive stumbled upon lots of reviews on all sides of the spectrum so i was interested in how these would work for us.

I will begin with the Mixed Chicks Kids Shampoo

Product Description

-Immediately strips my daughters hair of its nourishment
-Leaves my daughters hair coarse
-Must apply lots of conditioner/moisturizer after use immediately

My Feelings
I've been using this for weeks now and I believe that this shampoo has both good and not so good attributes... Id say that this is a kid friendly product which is a must when using products on children specifically. My daughter did not complain about it at all, It has a light and fresh scent which she did rave about. Its consistency was pleasing to us being on the lighter side. I feel that is a bonus because my daughter has thin and fine curls/waves which cant handle heavy products. On the other side of the coin i cant help but notice the immediate feel of my daughters hair after i apply the shampoo. Instead of feeling squeaky clean or even somewhat slick her hair felt so dry and brittle. I mean it was shocking, it seemed like i put in a chemical :( So upon repeated discovery of this result i tried to experiment with different methods/combinations and such and found out that it works best and is less harsh when i rinse immediately. The longer it sits on her hair the worse off it gets. My daughters hair is just not able to benefit from using this shampoo, so Ive since passed it on to a friend. I conclude that I'm not exactly satisfied with this shampoo for my daughters hair, it just doesn't do great by us.

Up next is the Mixed Chicks Kids Conditioner

Ingredients

Instructions
Apply to wet hair, comb through and rinse.
To style and tame frizz, follow with Mixed Chicks Kids Leave-in Conditioner.

Scent: Fragrance free

Texture/Consistency: Medium-thicker in nature

Cost: $13.00 per 8oz

Pros:
-Texture has the right mix, being an in between a liquid and solid in nature
-Kid friendly
-No fragrance and i cant even smell a lotion-y smell that you'd usually get with a fragrance free product
-Gentle
-Smooth and applies generously with a little amount
-Produces a nice shine after use
-I can feel its immediate affect of softness

Cons:
-The pump is defective and doesn't pump good
-The ingredients aren't great
-Not a natural product
-Its conditioning effect lasts for a short period

My Feelings
I believe that this conditioner is unique in comparison to many others we've tried and it can do a nice job on competing with a shampoo that is more harsh on the hair or maybe a clarifying shampoo at that. When i applied this conditioner i could immediately feel it softening my Divas hair and the longer i left it in the softer and bouncier her curls got. I used a curl cloth to soak up the excess moisture from the bath that is left on her curls and i would put her sleep cap on and her hair stayed light, flowing and curls bouncing with sheen for an few days with minimal frizzing or poof-ing. This was something that occurred over the use of the conditioner. The only thing that threw this off for me as being a super great conditioner was that isn't a completely natural product and i have to pump the bottle 15 times to get the amount i need to cover her hair. This product worked best for me when i used another shampoo before using it in place of the above mentioned shampoo. I cant complain about it not being suitable for children or harsh in any way because its passed the kid approved stage with my Diva and its eye friendly, scentless applies nicely. I will keep this one around for back up.

Next is the Mixed Chicks Kids Leave-In Conditioner

Product Description
Designed for our little ones. This styling product is colorless...alcohol, fragrance and paraben free, with no harsh chemicals.

Ingredients

-The ingredients are not that healthy as a whole

My Feelings:
Well i must say that by looking at the ingredients prior to use i was skeptical as i can depict some results by a product containing certain ingredients. On the positive side i was pleased with the unusually pleasant fragrance free element of this leave in... Most products with the "fragrance free" label have that yucky lotion-y smell but this one doesn't. I tried using this with the Mixed Chicks Shamp and Cond as well as with other products and found that it could be used either way and provide the same results. I like this best when i applied it to her wet or damp hair, applying it to dry hair is not easy for us. I used about 5-6 pumps to coat her hair from root to tip. On the negative side I'm put off by this products results on my daughters hair. I cant really tell that i used this after i applied it, I'm not sure if it that her hair just absorbed it so quick or if it had to do with the ingredients not being a good match with her hair. I cant make a good recommendation on this product. I will be passing it on so someone else can try to make use of it.

-Non kid friendly scent (rubbing alcohol smell)

-Little steep in cost for the quantity that is sprayed each time/Contents of bottle
-More adult like in nature

My Feelings:
I am surprised to note that after months of reviewing this product i am still at a loss for words when i am trying to describe it. I was happy initially that this product didn't have bad ingredients in it. I've never really had much luck with detanglers so i was hoping that i couldn't compare this one to the many bad aspects in others that I've tried before. I read that this tangle tamer is a versatile product and so of course i put it to many tests as i do with all products we test and i notices that this one doesn't leave an oily after effect and her hair doesn't feel greasy nor do my fingers after application so i could apply this root to tip easily with no worry. BUT just as quick as i applied it to her wet hair (since this is the only way that we could get it to soak in efficiently) it seemed like it just evaporated or absorbed and didn't feel/appear existent in her hair. No matter what i did whether in combination with the other Mixed Chicks products i just couldn't get this one to last... I'm thinking that the alcohol content in this is very high. I will be passing this one on as well. I'm not able to provide a good recommendation for this product.

I will begin with the Blended Cutie Silky Swirls Shampoo

- *Great and friendly customer service*

Cons:
- Price is a little steep for what you get (In my opinion)

My Feelings:
Upon first glimpse i thought that this shampoo was thicker in nature but as i started using it i found that looks deceive which was great for us because of my Diva having such fine and thinner type loose curls, thicker shampoos are icky in her hair. I was captivated by the scent of the shampoo as it is the cake frosting like smell that I'm used to by using the Blended Cutie products. This was also kind of a bummer too because i was expecting something different between all 6 BC products I've tried so far, scent wise. So hopefully in the future they will come out with other kid friendly scents to choose from :). The texture was right on par for our ideal type of shampoo, it is super smooth, has a silky application and i used about 3-4 squirts to coat her hair. Suds were present but not over abundantly which is favorable. Some of the ingredients I am not familiar with and didn't worry too much about as I'm sure none of the known bad ones are present or hidden within. I am overall satisfied with this shampoo and will keep it in our routine. The cost is kind of steep in my opinion so the next time i look to replenish my supply i will be coupon or deal searching as i can not buy this local.

- Price is kind of steep for what you get (In My Opinion)

My Feelings:
At first i thought this looked very similar to two other products from this line that i have, then upon further inspection i found new elements which struck my interest. The texture is unique and before i began using it i could tell this was going to do wonders on her hair. I loved the hard to explain feel... Instantly i could feel the deep conditioning and it acts great as a knot remover too. With my daughter being tender headed this is a multipurpose go-to product of ours because it helps to eliminate struggle with knots and manageability after taking styles down. Id consider this to be a deep conditioner type of product but an interesting fact is that it doesnt require being left in for a long period of time. It works almost immediately and has a nice lasting effect after being applied. I leave this on for about 5 minutes max when i want to deeply condition, i use a shower cap from time to time after application and her curls become as bouncy and springy as ever with either method. Needless to say this is one of the top two fav conditioners of mine of all time :) Cost of it of course is the only downfall in sight.

In the third slot is the Blended Cutie Butter Me Up- Leave in Moisturizer

My Feelings:
This product was recommended to me and so by my reviewing Blended Beautys website i was curious as to how this would work out. Im always looking for a good moisturizer and thick moisturizers are usually good for twisting, braiding, when im beading and using rubber bands or when im looking to put a style in that will last over some time. This product (like the others from this line) has the cake/frosting like scent and really resembles the swirls and curls, and tug me not in texture/consistency. It does tend to weigh my daughters hair down sometimes if i dont apply it with water. Its too thick for my daughters hair when down, i cant use it on her dry hair and I only find this good for the above mentioned. Id say im on the fence with this one and i will keep using it periodically.

-Without an explanation the nozzle lock can be confusing/impossible to figure out or could get broke when trying to use

-Ingredients could be more on the healthier side or explained better

My Feelings:

I was overall pleased with this style reviver and ive tried plenty of these types of products over the years, so i can firmly say that this resides at the top of my styling/finisher/reviver product list for several reasons... It does not leave a greasy or oily feeling nor does it just fade away. It is light in nature but evident in action. This requires about 4-6 spritzes to coat my daughters hair and i only have to apply it once per style. My daughter loves this cakey type smell so its all good by her. It does help to soften her hair and i like this most when her hair is styled as a finisher or on her loose curls. This is one of those works great in all circumstances product for us... Ive not seen it fail yet. The price on this is fair in my opinion as well.

I came across Angelic Soaps and Gifts at Naturally Flyy Detroit a while back and then on Facebook i kept seeing lots of positive comments on her various products so i inquired on a few products that i haven't tried yet and Dieshawn so kindly blessed us with a big package of goodies <3 font="font">

Thanks to Dieshawn my once poor outlook on shampoo bars have changed for good since i received a sample of one from Angelic Soaps and Gifts! Her shampoo bar is THE BOMB to say the least! I will begin with the Cherry Almond Soap Bar

Product Description
Handcrafted with conditioning African Shea butter and moisturizing oils of Palm and Coconut, Scented with the fragrance of tart cherries and the nutty aroma of ground almonds. 4-4.5 ounces

Ingredients
Cocconut oil,Palm oil,Olive oil, Shea Butter and Fragrance oil crafted by the cold process method of soapmaking

Color: Redish with grit
Scent: Cherry
Consistency/Texture: Hard soap with grits
Cost: $4.75 per 4-4.5 oz bar

Pros:
-For those of you who like really gritty products this is jam packed with gritty goodies
-This soap lasts for a few months with frequent use
-The Cherry scent is captivating and lasts for a nice long time and the whole bathroom is filled with the nice, light, and fresh scent at all times that the soap bar is in the shower
-The grit present is of a moderate-hard nature which really exfoliates
-This soap is filled with nice moisturizing elements

Cons:
-For me the soap has pinch too much grit
-Needs maybe a pinch more of a moisturizing agent
-A really good deep moisturizer is needed after or else you skin will be super dry

My Feelings:
I must say that the first thing that caught my attention was the amazing fragrance :) This is strictly a body soap for sure as when you have a fragrant product it is not good to apply this to sensitive areas or the face. I have sensitive skin and this soap worked great with me and really helped my dry/rough spots. I loved everything about this soap and have had to get more since and can say that Ive been faithfully using this soap line ever since i got it i have not tried anything else :) These soaps are greatly priced and the more that is bought the more freebies you get <3 nbsp="nbsp">

Next up is the Oatmeal Soap Bar in Blue Sky Scent

Product Description
Exfoliate and take away those dead skin cells and moisturize with the gentleness of ground oatmeal and African Shea butter. 4-4.5 ounces

Color: Beige-ish with particulates
Scent: Fresh with a hint of oat and a hard to pin point yummy-ness
Consistency/Texture: Soft/smooth yet
Cost: $4.75 per 4-4.5 oz bar

Pros:
- The smoothness of this soap is nice and unique as it also has oats and other particulates in it which add a nice texture
- The scent is unique and light and it stays present softly on the skin thereafter and isnt noticed otherwise
-The oats make this soap incredible! Its got great slip and the oats arent scratchy, yet they are still moderately invigorating
-This soap lasts for months with frequent use and has been great on my sensitive skin
-It has nice moisturizing elements

Cons:
-None note worthy

My Feelings:
This soap entered my regime second to the Cherry Almond soap which gave it definite tough competition since i fell in love at first sight with that one. The Blue Sky Bar had a completely different nature than the Cherry Almond and this fact alone made way for a new fav body soap second to the Cherry Almond. I LOVED the oat element in this soap. Im not sure exactly what blue sky is supposed to smell like but i like it :) The smoothness is on point and its different texture on top of the smoothness just adds a whole other dimension to its greatness. I must say i love this one too and am using it up currently <3 font="font" nbsp="nbsp">

Lemon Grass & Sugar Cane Scrub

Product Description

Cane Sugar, Ground Peppermint, Lemon Grass Essential Oil, Apricot Essential Oil and Grapeseed Oil.

Color: Like a greenish brown beige
Scent: Lemon grass with a hint of mint
Consistency/Texture: Like wet gritty sand with slip
Cost: TBA

Pros:
-This is a completely organic and natural product
-It is very exfoliating
-You can feel this penetrate your pores near instantly even after months of using it consistently
-If you love gritty scrubs this is for you!
-Ive been using this for months now and there is still months left in it :)
-Scent is just heavenly and near edible

Cons:
-The jar always leaves a mess where i set it
-There could be a smidge less sugar and a bit more of a wet agent
-Unless you consistently have a mixing tool at hand the oils settle at top and grit settles at bottom

My Feelings:
To begin with i was excited to try a new product VIP style and when i received this i was thrilled because ive been searching for a great natural face scrub but no one sells them that i could find. So by looks i didnt know what to expect result wise due to the appearance but i dove right in after i gave it a good mixing and by first finger scoop i was hooked. The scent of lemon mixed with peppermint is just explosive and my pores feel the same way. Right as the air hits my face after application my pores just tingle and its super refreshing. My skin is immediately softened and stays softened and clean there after. A light coating of the natural oils stay on my face there after too which i view as marvelous because moisture is being well retained thereafter rinsing and blotting. My face is normally acne prone and very dry so this product has come in and saved my faces life as it is not near as dry as it used to be and my acne is clearing up! On the other side of the street i do believe that this should come with a mixing tool or possibly have a bit more oil in it as it kind of under powers the cane sugar. The container is messy when in use and not in use so i keep it in a shower caddy in my shower where it doesnt leave a mess. If the oils and cane sugar were merged a little more with less settling NATURALLY id be just that much more in love. Overall this is my fav face product i have ever tried in my life, in all literal senses. <3 font="font" nbsp="nbsp">

Shea Butter Body Lotion in Lavender Bliss

-I cant say that this product is organic or natural because it has a few not so great ingredients in it

-Id like for the lasting period to be longer than as is between having to buy more

-It would be great if the moisture element stayed present longer

-I believe that the cone and the formaldehyde ingredients inhibit this lotions potential greatness

My Feelings:

I have been searching for a good lotion for myself for a while and since being blessed with this one i am on the fence. I like it but i don't. I like the texture, scent and overall feel. Just wish there weren't so many different ingredients and that the bad ones were omitted. I can say that my skin was soft there after use but the softness just went away after a while. This lotion does have alot of good ingredients in it. I can say that i liked this lotion way better than any other Ive tried despite its less desirable's

Whipped Shea Butter Body Pudding

Color: Light beige-ish

Scent: Shea buttery ( I received the love spell scent and the Lavender scent and they smelled true to their name)

Consistency/Texture: Medium/Hard but it melts to heat or friction

Cost: $8.00 per 4oz/$16.00 per 16oz

Pros:
-This is PURE and organic
-It is in a hard form but liquifies by friction or heat so that it can be used to preference in various forms
-The normally putrid pure shea butter smell is nicely covered by the fragrant oil
-This is good for wrinkles, rough spots and dry skin
-A little goes a long way
-Fair priced for the amount

Cons:
-The raw shea butter scent is still present through the fragrant oil which may not be pleasing to those not in favor of it
-The term "whipped" would make one think of maybe whipped icing or something that has a fluff to it but this is definitely hard in nature not so much so whipped
-This can only be used as a "spot" product as it doesn't spread onto the skin well for major coverage

My Feelings:
Ive been searching for a good whipped shea butter for a while that has the yucky scent of raw shea butter omitted and that can be smoothed on as easy as lotion can.So in summary Ive had high expectations for finding the right shea butter whip for my daughter. This one in particular i really liked the fragrant oil choices that i was sent (love spell and lavender). I use it for my elbows, knees, dry spots and on my feet. I like it for the purpose i use it for and it seems do work well on my areas in need. I cant use this for anything else because of its lack there of in spreading power. I got passed my issue with the scent of the raw shea butter underneath the fragrance but Im just not satisfied over all with this shea butter. I am still in search of my ideal whipped shea butter that is soft in nature. I know this is a body product but i decided to try it in my Divas hair because of its texture and my idea. So here are some pics of its results before and after.

I used this only on the last 4-5 inches of her hair and i spritzed a few sprays of distilled water along with it to help smooth it in. This acts as a sealer/definer in her hair and ive used this multiple times for this purpose and surprisingly its quite alright, especially with the use of beads and rubber bands. I also found it decent as a baby hair tamer.

A while back i received the opportunity to review a few products (at my expense) from Honeysuckle Natural Hair Care Line... I had stumbled upon them through Face Book and noticed an out pour of raving reviews so i thought it was worth the try. At this time they only had a few products to try so i decided to buy a sample trio which consisted of the Buttercreme Hair and Body Whip, Daily Shea Moisturizing Cream and Citrus Leave In Conditioning Spray.

Before i begin i must note that the circular tub contains the Buttercreme Hair and Body Whip and my focus for this review will be on the Citrus Spray and the Buttercreme Whip, as the Daily Shea just wasn't possible on Divas hair at all.

Pros-

Citrus Spray: This spritz has great light moisture effects, it has a nice light and summery scent. Its cloudiness adds to its effectiveness as the particles are fine enough to spritz well and they don't show up on the hair, in fact they just soak in :) I have to use about 4 spritzes of this for it to coat her hair which is inches below her shoulders now, which i consider to be a lightly generous amount. I've never had to re apply this, as i feel it stays well in place through a whole day and beyond the night. The light fresh scent is traceable throughout its use in a pleasant degree. It is children friendly in its complete nature, the Diva says it smells like oranges. It is non greasy, non oily and is suitable in my opinion for all natural wavy/curly hair types.

Buttercreme Whip: This product surprised me and proves that looks can deceive. I like this as a sealer and is a fav of mine when it comes to styling. Its not to light so that it wont penetrate, yet its not so heavy that it becomes a grease bomb. My daughters hair absorbs this very well and instantaneously. I go to this product when I'm using beads/rubber bands. Its got the perfect texture for my daughters wavy/curly/fine/sometimes frizzy/poofy/unique hair. It is a well taming product which does its job for days on end without need for re application. A little goes a super long way and it performs great in a style and on loose curls. This is a great universal product from my experiences.

Daily Shea Moisturizing Cream: This product is intended for use on the hair but i quickly tried it as a skin care product due to its different nature. I began to like this as a dry spot cream. It smooths in on the skin well and the grit will dissolve after a minute or so of rubbing. The scent is fresh and clean and stays lightly in place over a days time.

Cons-

Citrus Spray: Nothing negative to note.

Buttercreme: Nothing negative to note.

Daily Shea: This one was the only one to get unsatisfactory ratings which over rule the positives that i found unconventionally. This is a HAIR product specifically, and we could not use this as a hair product at all. In fact upon 2 uses i omitted it as even being a back up product because the sandy grit was just horrible in the hair... For us specifically the grit looked like salt or little white bugs when applied to my Divas hair... Which water couldn't even smooth out well, i had to fight to get it out of her hair actually. It is chunky, clumpy, gritty and just an out right mess and didn't work for us at all. Not to say that others couldn't benefit from trying this, its just not a good product for super fine, thin and loose curls from our trials. I resorted to trying this as a skin product to make use of it and it was OK for that and did make my skin feel nice, smooth and nicely fragranced but it ended at that. In general i was immediately put off upon opening the package to find a slimy mess inside which covered all of the products, as the lids on the containers were taped on allowing for wiggle room inside the container during mailing.

Feelings-

I really like the immediate fragrance of all three products, the spray is pleasantly unique to itself while the two tub products are very similar in scent and its hard to pin point with wording but its fresh and heavenly. The way the spray has clouding particles and how it settles when it sits for a while were pluses in my book as this is an indicator that there are no un-natural preservatives which make the products ingredients congeal. It also indicates that when spritzed there will be an output of extra moisture in more than just a super liquidy form, making for a longer lasting effect. I'm very impressed by this spritz and i use it as a light after styling moisturizer or a curl quencher when the divas curls are loose. The Buttercreme texture reminded me of a Shea butter in harder form by sight, but as i scooped some out the texture had more of a creamier/lighter/whipped feel to it and it smoothed out quickly as i rubbed it in my fingers but not too much to where a grease is left, yet just enough to spread evenly and over a nice distance without a need for a huge amount. The Daily Shea is a gritty/sandy appearing and feeling product which i was immediately put off by as products like these that remind me of sand usually perform as such when it hits the hair. Upon rubbing this between my fingers i noticed that the grit didn't like to disappear and since my daughter has fine thin hair i felt this could give a negative experience, which it ended up doing just that.

Hair-Spiration: Christmas Hair Style Triangle Braids With Beads

Here is some throw back Hair-Spiration that i have recently come across that i have not posted on my blog yet. This is a style that i did for Christmas a few years ago and it is simply triangle parted braids with beads :) I couldn't find the individual pictures of this style as my computer recently crashed and it took forever for the shop to fix it... So ill be back on here and there until the dust settles at home... For now this style from the vault can get some brains working for some Christmas inspiration for this upcoming holiday season.

This style took about an hour and a half and lasted over a week.

Hair-Spiration: Sunburst Pony Tails With Two Strand Twists

This style is a throw back that i had posted on FB, Ive searched and searched for more pics of it and i cant seem to find any besides this one. So i call this the Sunburst Pony Tails With Two Strand Twists which is simple and self explanatory.

Im always asked how i part these sunburst parts and honestly it was quite confusing at first for me even... So to simplify how i do it, i just part 4 even pig tails with a straight part down the middle from front to back and from ear to ear then i split them each into TWO sections creating 8 pony tails. So then the pony tails have created a "sun burst or sun ray" pattern raidating outwards from the back center of her head.

This was the time where i began twisting her hair so i didnt quite get the idea of twisting to get it to stay but the loose twists turned out cute anyways. I just twisted with her curl pattern and the curls twisted loosely into themselves.

I cant believe how short her hair is here!!! Times sure passed too quick. This pic was taken a few months shy of 2 years ago :)

Pony Tails, Cornrows and Rope Twists Oh MY!

Here is a style that I created a short while ago as the thought crossed my mind that i need to do some more different types of styles where i incorporate varying facets of styling. So this time around i decided to throw in some Pony Tails, Rope Twists, Cornrows and Clips into a random pattern.

Im not exactly sure what i used in her hair with this style but its nothing out of our normal array of products :) Rope twists are the only twists which withstand time in our household and i LOVE the POP effect that they give. I just parted as i went and styled as i went... Nothing to it but to do it :)

Ive always been one for something different and im always looking for inspiration. Styles like this only last a day or two in the Divas hair and ALWAYS need fixing up since her hair is so fine and silky like.

This style took about 55 minutes (mostly spent due to parting)...

Rope twists are created by taking the two strands of hair and twisting them INDIVIDUALLY in a CLOCKWISE direction THEN twisting them around each other in a COUNTER CLOCKWISE direction.

For a while I have been tinkering with some Jojoba Oil because I’ve wanted to try some hair oils on Diva but wasn’t sure where to begin and oils are kind of expensive so I didn’t want to go on a joy ride with experimenting right off. So my friend gave me the remainder of her bottle to try out, since she loved it so much and since her daughters hair texture is so similar to my daughters. When I was searching for this online I found in most cases that to buy 2oz of this I would have to spend anywhere from 5.00-15.00 and this was un heard of. This is one of the handfuls of oils that cannot be bought at a grocery store, in fact whole foods, vitamin shops and such like that are the only places local to me that do and they are not exactly local.

Jojoba Oil is a lighter oil and this is what I needed to try because my Divas hair is too fine and thin for coconut oil and olive oil is too greasy for a thorough application. So through my trials of trying this on her dry, damp and wet hair I have found that it works best on her damp hair... Her hair absorbs water well and retains it very well as it is so as with most products her hair retains them well if they are agreeable with her texture and density. This oil doesn’t really have a noticeable smell it just smells like oil to me with a kind of herbal sense. The texture is oily of course and slippery. The oil is transparent in nature and has a medium gold tone to it. They say a little goes a long way so I used this rule of thumb while experimenting and found that with oils like this a little goes a long way in certain circumstances. In my Divas case this oil in a pea sized amount on her wet hair would cover nearly all of her mids/ends. When her hair is damp just over a dime sized amount covers all her mids/ends and a quarter sized amount would cover her whole head while her hair is damp. When her hair is dry it takes about a half dollar sized amount to cover her whole head of hair. Her hair is thin and fine mind you, so that makes an impact on how much oil to use because the thicker the hair the more oil needed and depending on how porous the hair is depends on how much oil to use as well.

I find the best method for us is by finger combing it in. I will just drop the desired amount in my closed fingers and comb it in accordingly. This oil is very slippery and spreads amazingly, though this is a natural oil one may think that it leaves her hair oily but it does the exact opposite. It acts as a great sealer, hydrator and curl maintainer. This oil is a great finishing product and perfect after applying a thicker moisturizer as it helps to lock in the moisturizer and stay put through any extreme weather's crazy conditions. I was surprised at how well this turned out working for us because I’ve not had much luck with oil products in the past and I realized my back luck was due to impure oils such as the Pink oil, Baby Oil, Africa’s Best Oil and various aerosol oils and mineral oils. Here is a picture of her hair after I dampened her hair with our distilled water spritz and added the oil, via finger combing.

The defining difference is remarkable and her curls popped right before my eyes. I had taken other various pictures using this oil but have since misplaced them. I love how her little curlees just sprung into their sharpie size all over. Of course I can feel that the oil is in her hair which means that it could probably rub off onto the couch or something but it hasn’t damaged anything and we have been using this solid for months now.

I can say that this is recommendable natural hair oil and when dealing with hair oils it is best to use them in their pure form... This would be as equally wondrous on any hair type. I did not see the need to mix or dilute this oil as with lots of oils it is best to dilute them into carrier oils and such. I would always use my distilled water spritz prior to using this oil so I have the water element present at all times as I feel it does help with the smoothing in and spreading of the oil. I did not feel that I had to make a mixture bottle of this as it works great by itself or with a little water spritzing. I send a huge thank you out to my bestie for giving me this Jojoba Oil to try :) I have a positive outlook on oils now for my Divas hair and I will be looking into other natural oils in the future...

Diva R's Little Mermaid Inspired Birthday Hair Style & Birthday Balloon Bomb!

My Diva has turned 5 and its so hard to believe 5 years have passed already!! Birthdays are usually a big deal in our family so we of course had to add special hair flair to the occasion. The Diva chose Ariel The Little Memaid to be the theme for her party, so alongside her Ariel party dress i decided to do a style which paid tribute to her under the sea theme. What a better way to highlight this than with shells <3 These shells i had bought a while back from Curly Princess Hair Boutique (which is still one of the most fab online hair accessory boutique's in my opinion).

Here is the top view of the style i freestyled, i am not sure what i would call it but i incorporated piggy back pig tails which end in pony tails and big braids. Can't forget the beautiful shells and matching pony o's to add the appropriate splash of coordinating colors and the shells to bring out the under the sea element.

In case anyone is wondering, the shells are actually beads and i slid them on just like i would beads from a beader. I began this style by dampening her hair with our distilled water spritz and then i parted a straight part down the middle of her head from front to back. Then i started parting the boxed parts individually on each side from front to back, sectioning them off with clips as i went, trying to make sure they are as even as possible with the other side as i am super picky about parting. I began adding some Blended Beauty Blended Cutie Soft Curls Moisturizer to each section from root to tip which is acting as my thicker moisturizer.

Then i began rubber banding each section off one by one beginning in the front, as i was rubber banding i was also applying some Darcys Botanicals Curl Jelly as my hold product, then i added pony tails and shells as i went. While i was adding shells i piggy back tailed each section into the next until i got to my third boxed section where i pony tailed the previous sections into. Then i braided a big braid tieing the groupings together and finger curling her loose ends. I did this on both top front sections.

For the back i did the same but i went upwards with the piggy back tailing, rubber banding, pony-tailing, and shell adding.

I topped her style which took 45 minutes, off with some of a new product which we have yet to review (stay tuned), called Citrus Conditioning Leave-In Spritz by Honey Suckle Natural Haircare Line. The Diva wore this style for a few days with much glory might i add. She was so thrilled at this accomplishment as it turned out being exactly what she wanted and the compliments just poured in.

So of course i had to balloon her room for her 5th Birthday morning and this year i was super pregnant and just 8 days away from giving birth so needless to say my lung power just wasnt there and the hubby worked long hours and wasnt able to help much. BUT i still got as many done as i could which was nearly two bags full and as the years go until she is too old to appreciate this i will keep doing this :)

The balloons stretched across her whole room and it was hard to get a good pic of them all :)

She woke up in balloon paradise and knew exactly what the balloons were there for :)

Curl Cloth By Curls Like Us Usage UPDATE

Here is a brief post on our updated usage of our Curl Cloths that we were blessed with a while back... To reflect on our original post on these amazing Curl Cloths click here. So ever since we received these we have used them after every hair washing and can say that i am still as utterly amazed as i was from the beginning. I feel that using these has made a positive impact on our manageability and hair routine overall.

One thing i learned over this period was that the product i used before i used the cloth after her hair being washed could make or break the results. If you do not use a defining product or one that is designed as a leave in, the results will be less desirable. I wish i had a stock pile of these!! I even use them for myself :) So the best products that we have that work great with the cloths are...

Bobeam Medley Shea Hair/Body Moisturizer

Back a while ago i had won a giveaway on Chi-Chi Sophistication's Blog and i had won a jar of Bobeam Medley Shea Moisturizer... I have never heard of this product line before so i was anxious to see what they were all about.

This moisturizer can be used for your hair and body. The moisturizer can be used to protect and seal the ends of your hair to prevent splitting. Medley is not recommended for use on your face or directly on your scalp because of the added fragrance.

First thing I noticed was the scent of this product, it was different and I didn’t really get a candy gist from it, I got more so a fruit smell. I noticed that this was a hard textured Shea butter and upon my finger scooping it I noticed it was really hard, but when I swiped my finger across it and it slid out more easily. As I rubbed it between my fingers it liquefied rather quickly. Since this is a hair and body product I decided to try it both ways. I had tried this for a while on my Diva's wet hair as when using the harder type butters it is usually best to do it this was because her hair is so fine and thin. I had learned that by using this on her wet hair I really liked this best when braiding or styling as a thick sealer/moisturizer. This is because this product is heavy and it kind of weighed her hair down. I can feel the natural oil in it and this is the part I like best because it helps to stay put in her hair and add a healthy shine without the oily effect. When I used this on her dry hair I found that this was impossible to provide good results with because it was really particulated and left little bits all over her hair like wet sand would. It looked like she had dandruff so needless to say this is a no on her dry hair. This had increasingly become hard to apply and my first positive reviews have turned into now negative reviews.

Every time I apply this I noticed tremendous grit and it is hard to get out, hard to apply and I’m just all out not happy with the results of this product on my daughters hair. Strangely it doesn’t dissolve well any more either, the product has stayed in the same room temperature spot the whole time and it’s just not performing the same anymore. So I decided to jump on over to another idea and start using it on mine and my Diva's dry skin spots and see how well it works as a body butter. I can say that this is much easier to apply to the skin and over time has stayed that way. It’s nice and thick and it really stays put throughout the day and into the next night I can still feel it present. Over several consecutive uses my skin felt slightly not as rough and my Diva's skin shown the same results. She has very dry knees and elbows so we have to resort to daily use of a Shea butter containing product like this as it really lasts long through play and water play as well. The soft fruity scent lasts lightly after application as well. I can say that we will keep this around for a back up skin product but it will not be used in my Diva's hair.

I can see the grit on her hair in these pics when i make them bigger, im not sure if its visible to you all but its especially clear in person and i cant even put water on it to get the grit to smooth in :( This could possibly be used on the ends of braids or twists when using beads/rubber bands.

Cornrows, Criss Crossed Ponies and Sidewinder's

So lately i have figured i may start posting some hair-spiration with not much wording included... So in the near future you may see some of that... But for now here is a brief posting on a style that i had recently done. This one i had freestyled from the basis of wanting to use some of our Sidewinders, and from there i just created. It seriously has been too long since ive done cornrows and i find since I'm so slow handed at them, that they take longer than doing any other type of style... I really wish i could find a local person who could help me perfect my technique without having to pay for a class since i know everything there is to know besides a better hand technique (in my opinion).

This style began with pig tails and i moved back as i went... I parted the middle section first and clipped them off individually. Then i moved left to right in each box (cornrow, box braid, box braid, cornrow) Then i finished them off with 2 inch Sidewinders. Then i moved on to the bottom row where i split the section straight down the middle and created some lower pig tails to coinside with the top frontal ones. I rubber banded those off with the top two middle box braids forming an X into them and braided the remaining free hair into two single braids and finally some Sidewinders.

I had decided to leave the frontal hair free from the pig tails for some variation.

I used Distilled water in our spritz bottle followed by Blended Beauty Soft Curls Moisturizer for a moderate moisturizer throughout as i planned on leaving this style in for a few days, and Kinky Curly Knot Today for hold as needed.

On the third day i touched her style up with a few alterations... I decided to braid the free hair into two big braids from each pig tail adding individual Sidewinders part way up the braids. I also parted off two front sections and cornrowed them, adding Sidewinders at each end.

I pretty much left the rest as previously styled but i just re-did the (then fuzzy) cornrows and box braids

I try to use the same color scheme for a few days when using accessories so i dont have to manipulate much...

This style took about 40 minutes in total to do and lasted about 5 days with minimal touching up/frizz.

So i must begin by saying that my friend gave me a tub of some of this product to try as she became dissatisfied with how it worked on her daughters hair. So the container below is NOT from the company its a personal container. I was intrigued by this product before she had offered it to me as the texture of it seemed like it was ideal for what i usually look for in a gel type product. It is VERY liquidy in nature and as the above recommendation states BE CAREFUL when opening it, is very on point.

The gel is almost slimy in texture and has an off kind of un-pin-pointable smell to it which isnt bad but isnt great either. This texture has shown great advantage over time with use in my Diva's hair, it applys very easily and slides right on. Its very light in weight and has a near transparent color to it. When i use this i only have to use a few finger scoops to cover the desired area of choice.

I had originally had it set that this was going to be used when braiding/styling and/or as a slicker. So through much experimenting i found that i liked this best as a styling and loose curl product most. It didnt really function great as a hold product since its so thin in consistency.

In the first picture below is before application, she had got right out of the bath and her hair was still wet.

This picture below is right after application and i was impressed by the smoothness of this gel. I can see a nice difference between the before and after picture. I can say that i noticed a moderate hold and her curls lasted in the great looking condition all day without need for re applying. I had sight residuals left on my hands.

Overall i liked this gel, i liked its texture and over time ive found i have to use a bit more to cover her mids and ends but a little still seems to go farther than using a cheap or other type of gel. In current times even, i find that there is no residual build up and i am still using this months beyond when it was given to me. I like this in my daughters fine hair, the smell doesnt bother me either and her hair doesnt smell funky when using this. Im kind of gathering a fruit type smell when i use this now.

St. Patrick's Day Hairstyles 2012 LYGBC Style

Happy belated St. Patrick's Day <3 We've been consumed in many things lately and Im now beginning to catch up on blogging. My husband and I have recently welcomed our newborn son Baby G into our family in April and ever since just before that we've been on overload. So without further adue i will begin posting again from more of an inspirational stance for a while.

For St. Patricks Day i did 3 consecutive styles which i created from my own thoughts and ideas. The first one is super obvious and easy i just posted it to show the super cute pot of gold hair ties i got from target for 1.00 each :) Its a simple pony tail style where i split the hair in two and pony tailed the top half and then the bottom half separately. I opted for single braids from each pony and finger twirled her ends. I used Kinky Curly Knot Today Leave In which we have been experimenting with for some time now and is one of the newer products that has been added to our collection (Review Coming... Stay Tuned)... I used the KCKT as a slicker/hold product.

This style took all of 15 minutes to create and is one that can be altered into several varying styles over multiple days.

The second style i created was a 3 leaf clover and natural curls doo where i added a little festive flair to the style by creating a 3 leaf clover via triple heart shape parting and a joining single braid forming the stem. Originally i had no idea what i was wanting to do and i couldnt find much inspiration that was unique so i just let my hands go and i ended up with this...

The first thing i did was i began styling with my Diva's hair being wet and detangled alongside application of some of our usual products. I had found a mid point at the top of her head where i began parting the first heart shape. Then i parted two like heart shapes on the sides of the center heart at an angle so that it would come together like a clover when finished. I then rubberbanded each heart off individually and then hit a road block... What will i do with the end pieces?

I decided to go with the first idea in mind (which better ideas came there after) and i just gathered the three groupings and braided them together in one big braid which did end up forming a stem and i pony tailed it off.

After i formed the 3 leaf clover i decided to let the remainder of her hair hang free and concluded it with some scrunches of Kinky Curly. Below is a close up of the clover...

All in all this style took about 40 minutes (mostly due to the parting)... BUT it lasted very nicely for several days with minor touch ups.

Here is the third style which i decided to keep the in place clover in BUT i added some variation... I cornrowed the two front parts of her hair and the remaining loose hair from the previous style back into a pony tail which i also gathered the three groupings from the clover into.

Then i braided a big braid including all of the hair pulled back and adorned it with a few clover rings that we got from St. Patty's Day cup cakes at Kroger and a FAB St. Patty's Leprachaun bow that we got from Cute N Curly Bowtique.

This style is super cute and my fav of the three that i did, it got many raves at school as this was her school party style :) It took about 30 minutes to change this style up from the previous style.
