Kelly and Paul. A Stunning silver gown, a magical garden setting and love so thick and true, it was contagious!

Grady and I really did enjoy spending New Year's Eve with this lovely couple and their family.

Mixon Fruit Farms has a great wedding pavilion with waterfalls and lots of little pathways that remind me of The Secret Garden! It's a great place for a wedding. Rev. Georgeann Butler officiated the ceremony beautifully. We also had the opportunity to work with the fantastically-talented photographer Peter Obetz of Real Deal Weddings! I have wanted to work with him ever since I saw his photo of a Bride and Groom jumping through a ring of fire! (You can see it on his home page :)) And I was not disappointed! He and his lovely wife were fantastic to work with and we had such a blast documenting Kelly and Paul's special day!

Amanda & Robby - The Polynesian Resort in Disney World

I knew Amanda was going to be amazing from the first moment she contacted me. Her Disney-pirate-infused wedding sounded spectacular! She is jaw-dropping gorgeous and her hubby Robby is the perfect fit.

Amanda got ready at The Polynesian Resort in Disney World. Being that she's also an amazing florist, she did her own flowers which were out of this world! Each of her three bridesmaids had different unique bouquets and hers was gorgeous with cascading flowers. Her dress was really unique and had a triangle pattern on it like I've never seen.

Robby and Amanda held their ceremony at Seabreeze Point on the Boardwalk. For their after-wedding shoot, we got to play all along the boardwalk and it made for some really fun sets! I hope you enjoy their Short Film and Trailer.

... the parking is easy, the people are genuinely nice, the staff are incredibly helpful, the decor is beautiful and authentic, the clouds are fluffy, the boats come close enough for a close up and yep, they love each other and everyone loves them a whole lot!
I don't know why I get so lucky with my couples, but I probably should not question it! I don't want to stop the good fortune!
Ashley and Eric are the kind of couple that give you goosebumps because they are just so dang real! And hey, a man in a uniform is always nice. My dad was a pilot in the Navy and I used to love when he wore his dress whites! My sister Korryn and I used to play with all his hats as well... but I digress. Ashley and Eric freaking rocked! Thank you for allowing us to share the day with you!

Meghan was determined to have her beach wedding come rain or shine! Luckily, the Longboat Key Club had it covered, literally. They brought us some huge umbrellas to shoot under. It ended up being gorgeous set against those periwinkle blue skies you only get when a storm rolls in. We shot with The fantastic Kimberly Dyer and Dr Steve Lortz was there to officiate with his lovely wife Debby.

Meghan and Joel were so freaking adorable! There love for each other was evident, and it looks like these two are off to have a fun-filled life together!

When My Mom and I met Maria and her daughter, the bride to be, Tina, we knew this would be a fun wedding! This was my first Greek wedding and I loved the Greek traditions in the the ceremony! St Barbara's Greek Orthodox Church was absolutely beautiful and a delight to shoot in. They had their reception at Pier 22 in Bradenton Florida. It was gorgeous day and I'm so happy we were able to capture such a milestone event for this family. Congratulations Tina and Jim!!!

Catie and Jesse - Selby Gardens wedding in Sarasota

Catie and Jesse had an absolutely picturesque wedding at Selby Gardens in Sarasota Florida. I was happy to have the opportunity to meet with them before the big day to find out more about their Love story! These two met in high school and he actually made her a dragon ring in the jewelry class they were in together, but it took a couple years before they found their romantic connection. You just never know!
Catie and Jesse are very loved and it was an incredible day to be a part of!

They had their Ceremony at Selby Gardens and the reception at The Meadows Country Club.

Much love, fun and adventure are in the future for these two!

Tracee and Curtis had a great wedding in Sarasota Florida. The vintage Cadillac, chocolate brown suits and amazing bridal party bus with horns added to the charm that this couple exudes!

Tracee got ready at the Hyatt Regency penthouse suite, which displayed the magnificent views of the Sarasota bay. Curtis's father actually married them at the S. Trail Church of Christ in a touching and personal ceremony. The reception went down at The Van Wezel. Nellie's Deli did a great job with the food as well! Congrats to Tracee and Curtis.

Gabriela and Eric were surrounded by people who truly loved them. The Oaks Club in Osprey Florida was the perfect spot for these two lovebirds to tie the knot! Celeste Paliana was their coordinator at the club and the day ran smooth as could be.Grace Felice was an incredible, sensitive and truly empathic officiant, everyone in the family thought she had known Gabriela and Eric their whole life! Their photographer Kimberly Dyer was incredible. I always enjoy working with her, we get into the giggles at least once every time! DJ Wayne from DeLair Entertainment kept the party grooving and this group could groove!

Congratulations to Gabriela and Eric! Much love and happiness for them for the rest of their lives!!

The night our house was struck by lightning: Emily & Les

The start of the day for this beach wedding at The BeachHouse on Anna Maria Island was beautiful. Blue skies filled with fluffy clouds, dazzling sparkly turquoise ocean and a soft breeze that swept across the white sand. The ceremony was was sincere and beautiful. And then it was time for the reception! A huge storm with gale force winds swept across the island and the water poured from the sky! But this storm did not dampen the spirit of the party! They kept it hopping!

...little did we know that while we were doing the congo at the wedding, our house was struck by lightning!

When we got home, the fire department and all of our neighbours were standing outside of our house. I ran in to check on my babies. And thankfully, our doggy Rockstar and cats Oliver and The Dude were just fine. Whew. We lost our microwave and the cable modem box but our computers were fine. Thank goodness!!!

What can I say? Stunning, dignified, elegant, smooth, this was a "Grand Wedding" as Rashard's best man so eloquently put. Did I mention that LaShonda SANG her vows? Yes, the song is Jennifer Hudson's You Pulled me through. Honestly, all I can hear is LaShonda now when I hear that song, she is just incredible!

When Dotty first got in touch with me and told me how she was planning to surprise her hubby of 15 years with a vow renewal on Anna Maria Island, I knew she was a special lady. She even flew their two best friends in to witness the event, all a surprise! Their three children were also there and it was such a beautiful day!

The BeachHouse did a great job setting up this intimate event. Kim Crow was their officiant, which is ultra special to me as she is a close friend and officiated Grady and my wedding! Debby from The Flower Girls of Sarasota set up a gorgeous Circle of love! We shot with the lovely Dara Caudill and her awesome hubby Chuck provided the beautiful beachy tunes that set the mood for a truly special event.

A few weeks ago, Dotty let me in on some challenges she and her family are facing and asked me to use a song that puts it better than any words I can say ever would. Did I cry and edit, yes, yes I did. I hope this piece brings a cathartic feeling to the reality the Dotty is facing. We wish Dotty and her family a speedy healing and send all of our love their way!

I must admit whenever I hear that name it starts the cue for the "Kelly" song from Cheers.

But in all seriousness, Kelly and Chris are freaking amazing! They have class and warmth. The amount of charm flowing from these two is just gorgeous. The way Chris looked at her the first time he saw her done up in her full wedding regalia.... well, I'm just glad I was there to capture it for the world and their future children to see. Wedding films offer such nice rays of sunshine in a world that seems to exemplify the ugly parts of relationships. I am so grateful that my days are full of people's happiness. :)

Annie & Steve get married in Dunedin Florida

Two weeks prior to her big day, Annie had a huge medical scare. Luckily she was ok. Steve and Annie were reminded of the important things in life and they had a beautiful wedding at Bon Appetit in Dunedin Florida. Annie was simply stunning in her gown, and Steve was the epitome of dapper. I felt like I was shooting a Calvin Klein ad! We shot in tandem with Paul from Chi Photography and he was fantastic as always.

Sage Hall is the owner of Star Fruit Productions creating fab wedding videos or “wedding films,” which is how Sage refers to them.

In the first minute of meeting Sage Hall her effervescent and gregarious personality shines, and it’s clear that

Sage is comfortable around cameras and stage whether directing, producing or acting.

What is also clear is that Sage actually cares about the people she touches, which is evidenced by both extraordinary behavior and every day actions on her part.

Once filming, the bride discovered her legs covered in ants, looking for relief she jumped into the pool – Sage followed, ‘water be dammed‘ and quickly performed underwater removal of those stubborn ankle biters.
Sage, while sopping wet from that adventure, is proud to help a bride any way she can.

But, regardless of the need for underwater rescue, Sage feels “honored” when chosen to produce a couple’s wedding film.

Sarasota Wedding Ideas wanted to know a little more about this remarkable person.

Sage was kind enough to meet us a local eatery to talk, here’s the interview:

On Wedding Videography:

“I call them wedding films, I approach them they same way that I approach any narrative. Ultimately it’s a story, a love story.

I think that often as a film maker when we’re doing narratives, when we’re working with actors and scripts we’re looking for an authentic moment, something truthful. And when we deal with real people on one of the most important days of their lives experiencing real things you don’t have to try, you just have to be there, you just have to allow it to happen in front of your camera.

And it’s been one of the most beautiful things I’ve been a part of. I actually feel quite honored that people allow me into one of the most intimate moments of their lives.”

About Her Film Making Talent:

“I think you’re born with talent, but through study you can build technique. So I think that as far as my studies, my study in schools and stuff has been in acting. But really, good actors have a lot of empathy and they just feel and I think you’re born with that.

And I knew from a little girl that I never wanted to do anything else. I wanted to tell stories, I wanted to put shows together, I had a show for my parents every night.”

How Far Sage Books Out Wedding Film Work:

“Gosh, I have some people book me out 15 months, but that’s one of the cool things about it – theirs actually a little bit of stability in the wedding film business, because people do want to book you a year out.
Wedding videography can still be on the bottom of the totem pole sometimes you know, it’s one of those things that is one of the number one regrets for a bride when they don’t get it – so many brides call me and go ‘can you just take the footage that my uncle Harry took and make it something?’ – And I have to say no, but I wish I could. You can only work with the tools you’ve got.”

Are You A Photographer Also:

“No – I gave it a try and it’s just not me. A photograph is a beautiful form of art because it’s encapsulating that one moment, that one moment in time and telling a story in that one moment. But filming allows me to tell a longer story, a longer form – my brain works in that way a little better.”

Tip for Brides:

“I think that the best thing for brides is to come with an open mind, because I think that in wedding video especially,- there is this kind of feeling that with wedding videography that it’s gonna be kind of cheesy, it’s gonna be terrible, it’s gonna torture your family to watch it, it’s not gonna be enjoyable and your gonna look bad.

But there’s so many tools now that can be used to make a wedding film, and show your day in the best light, in the way you want the world to see it, and how you want to remember it.”

What Would You Like People To Know About You?

“That I genuinely care and I love what I do. And I feel honored and humbled that I’m allowed to share this experience with them. I’m gonna be the person that if they walk into an ant hill in the Saint Thomas islands in their ten layered wedding gown and need to jump into the pool to get the ants off of their legs – I’m gonna be the one who will jump into that pool with them and pull those ants off their legs – and yes I did do that.”

Something That Most People Don’t Know About You:

“I was in a very short-lived punk band, and I wrote – the band was called “Contaminated” – of course we actually never played anywhere – but, we did play in my garage(laughing).”

Sage Hall is watching corpses fly through the air.

She’s on location in Port Charlotte, directing a Vegas-style, musical-magic show featuring one of the world’s top Luciano Pavarotti impersonators. An effervescent videographer with an eye for detail, Hall is gushing over the special effects — girls materializing from gondolas; flowers appearing where an audience would sit; and heads falling off of bodies.

“A fantastic opera singer is doing all of the music,” says Hall, founder of StarFruit Productions. “He hired me to shoot a commercial, but thought I had the polish to bring his show to the next level and he hired me on as director.”

The show features Playboy Bunny Lyn Sky, also a stilt walker with Universal Studios, as the magician’s assistant.

“I get to shoot a wedding tonight after I’m done with my musical magician,” Hall says. “I’m heading straight from corpse land to wedding land. There’s a wedding in this film, too. Of course, the bride is 20 feet tall.”

Hall shoots with a photojournalistic style and always looks for natural events to unfold. She never poses her subjects. Location and detail shots are important and are shot cinematically with sliders and steady cams.

“I’m down on the ground; I’m in the bushes; and I’m up in trees,” Hall says. “I sneak into things that say ‘no trespassing.’ When I have a camera in my hand, I feel like I can do anything.”

Two months ago, Hall discovered that The Disney Wedding Blog had named StarFruit Productions the winner for Best Wedding Film of 2010, for a wedding video in which a fairy-tale princess arrives to her wedding in a horse-drawn carriage and walks down an aisle guarded by “Star Wars” storm troopers. It was a full-fledged production — a 15-hour shoot with five cameras.

“She had everything — the Cinderella coach, two dresses and Mickey and Minnie; he had storm troopers and seven ‘Star Wars’ actors,” Hall said. “I spent 100 hours editing that thing.”

Hall always knew she was destined for the theater. Growing up in Alabama, she started acting as a child and was instantly drawn to theater the first time she stepped on stage. When she turned 16, she spent one year in London studying Shakespeare. Her hunger to learn every facet of theater — from lighting and directing to acting — inspired her to pack up her car at age 20, and with $2,000 in her pocket, head off to Los Angeles to be an actress. There, she found her love for film and approached it the same way she did theater, even studying under the same teacher as Robert De Niro. Seven years later in 2007, with her mind set on saving some money before making a move to New York, she moved back home to the Sarasota area.

“When I left Los Angeles, I thought my life was over,” Hall says. “I knew I was an actress, that I wanted to tell stories and make people feel something and be a catalyst. That’s always been so deep inside of me, and I thought by leaving I was giving that up — that’s why it’s been such a wonderful, happy surprise to me that I’ve been more successful in my career since I left.”

Her first short film, “Candy,” was a five-minute funky Halloween piece in which she played the lead. When she originally made the film, which cost less than $500, she didn’t think it would surface anywhere. When the Screen Actors Guild Foundation announced that it would feature the film at its Short Film Showcase in February, Hall immediately booked tickets.

“I flew myself, my honey, producer and writers (to New York City),” Hall said. “New York City had 19 inches of snowfall in the city. We’re all there together to see my movie and it gets canceled. There were three people in Times Square.”

The event was rescheduled for two weeks later.

“This is the award I’m most proud of,” Hall says. “I was with people whose movies had $100,000 budgets. Just to be able to stand up there and be recognized — I felt like it was my graduation.”

Upon moving back home, she got cast in a three-month production of Florida Studio Theatre’s “Brooklyn Boy” and was hired for the theater’s education program. She started StarFruit Productions in 2007.

“I was doing a children’s show called ‘Under 6,’ and one of the cast members was getting married the next day,” Hall says. “I asked to film it for free and put it online. That’s when The Disney Wedding Blog blogger saw it and hired me right away (to do her wedding), and I made StarFruit official. It’s kind of been my film school. I thought, ‘OK, if I can make money making movies about love stories … ’”
She calls it “wedding filmmaking.”

“There’s a big difference between that and a wedding videographer,” Hall says. “When I thought of a videographer, I thought about a sweaty old man zooming in on a bride’s cleavage. But this is really changing the entire industry. More than anything else, I feel like one of the things I want to accomplish is letting other people’s light shine. That’s why I love doing weddings.”

Hall and her fiancé, Grady Reinagle, will be married Oct. 15. The theme is “black-tie hoedown,” and the wedding will be filmed by a husband-and-wife team from Orlando.

“I’m going to allow myself to be a bride,” she says. “It’s hard because I’m a director at heart — I’m sure I’m going to be giving them the eyeball.”

SAGE HALL ON GETTING HITCHED

“My fiancé (Grady Reinagle) and I are having a black tie hoedown. It’s not a day that you want to be generic — it’s got to be personal. It’s going to be real easy.”

FAST FACT

While living in Los Angeles, Sage Hall was a dog walker for Drew Barrymore’s pup. “It was a great way to stay in shape,” she says.

Camille & Cameron - Longboat Key Club Wedding

It's not often that you get called the "Francis Ford Coppola" of wedding films, so when it happens, hold on to it tight!

Cameron won my heart the minute he called. He was quoting my movies to me, telling me his favorite shots and seemed to really "get" what StarFruit does! I was delighted when I heard from his then lovely fiancé and she told me that they would be booking me to make their wedding film!

They chose the gorgeous Longboat Key Club as their ceremony venue and the skies were that periwinkle blue that make the white sand of Longboat key almost glow! My favorite skies to shoot in!!!
Kimberly Dyer was our photographer and I still get warm fuzzies every time I work with her. I worked with her at the very first wedding I was ever paid to shoot!

And let me just say how much I adore Dr. Stephen and Debby Lortz of Romantic Weddings in Sarasota. Dr. Lortz was the officiant and he and Debby set up the beautiful bamboo altar that Cameron and Camille tied the knot under. He is just so genuine and full of joy, it is a delight to watch.

Cameron, I hope I did not disappoint! You, Camille, and your friends and family were so nice and it was an absolute pleasure spending your wedding day with you!

Captiva Island: A Destination Wedding

Kelly and Christopher were absolutely GLOWING all day! They have that kinda love that is infectious and light, a mixture of strength and vulnerability, just beautiful.

The South Seas Island Resort on Captiva Island was also stunning! We had wild dolphins playing a couple feet from us, amazing technicolor blue skies, a stunning bride and a handsome groom! We also shot with our good friend Joelle Maki of Swept Away Studios. Her artistic flare and sense of adventure are always fantastic to add to the mix! What a list of ingredients!

Fearless - Leslie and Don - Idaho Destination Wedding

I went to school with Leslie in Madison, AL. We were classmates and fast friends in the 6th grade and never quite lost touch. She was always impressive. Great at sports, stunning looks, and intelligent to boot! She was riding a dirt bike before I was even allowed to shave my legs! Girl had it going on!

So you can imagine how happy I was to reconnect with her on Facebook. When she talked to me about filming her wedding, I was ecstatic!

My fiancé Grady and I flew out to Idaho Falls and had quite an adventure filming this one! Idaho is gorgeous! Who knew? The mountains and wildlife were incredible. We had a blast on our first snow machine ride thanks to Leslie and Don! And we survived our crashes just fine... hehe.
