This weekend is my birthday. *sigh* Fun, but also...suck. Because I HATE getting older. I'll be 34!

Soooo, for the weekends celebrations (my aging and Easter), I'm going to make THE BEST DESSERT EVER! Really, truly, the best. And I was never really a fan of this particular dessert in it's general form, I'll still pass it up in a restaurant usually. But this particular recipe has a certain addition that makes it awesome, and if there is one thing I can do well....it's bake something yummy! If I make this cake for my husband, he is the happiest person on earth.

Sooo, if you're looking for the perfect Easter dessert...here you go! :)

CHOCOLATE CHIP CARROT CAKE

1 3/4 cups sugar
1 1/4 cup canola or vegetable oil
4 eggs
2 cups cake flour OR 1 3/4 cups all purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 teaspoons cinnamon
3 cups finely grated carrots
1/4 cup chopped nuts (I use pecans)
6 oz bag of semi sweet chocolate chips
1 cup of coconut

Cream the sugar and oil. Add eggs one at a time. Sift flour, baking powder, salt, soda and cinnamon. (I never sift! I just add) Fold in carrotsw, nuts, chocolate chips and coconut. Bake in greased and floured pan @350 for 20-25 minutes. (Depending on type of pan, you can use a 9x13 or a couple of 8 or 9' rounds.) It does get somewhat dark and will pull away from the sides. Test with knife etc.

ICING
1 8oz package of cream cheese at room temp
1/4 cup of butter softened
One 1 pound box of powdered sugar...OR half of a bag.
2 teaspoons vanilla

Mix cream cheese and butter, mix in vanilla and sugar. Frost cake when cooled.

Hi Carrie, I’m so excited to be the final pit stop for your blog tour.
Thank you for having me over, Nicole! I'm excited to be here. :)

Speaking of blog tour…can I ask you a couple of marketing questions before we get to the juicy stuff, because you really seem to be good at that kind of thing? Do you have any pointers for a writer that may be (hopefully) launching a debut book soon?

Absolutely! Here are a few launch tips:

1. Stay organized, and write everything down—even if you think you'll remember it. Once the madness sets in, your brain will turn to mush.

2. I'm not exaggerating about the first point. Your brain really will turn to mush.

3. Post your schedule and create an early buzz. Try to incorporate branded graphics, if possible.

4. Incentivize. What's in it for the people who follow and participate in your launch and/or tour? It's nice to have some kind of giveaway going on.

5. Thank everyone who helps out, even if it takes a while to get to them all. You know you're grateful, but it's important they feel acknowledged and appreciated.

6. Have fun and try to enjoy the moment! :)

Those are GREAT tips! You have a fantastic website. Do you think an online presence is critical in the success of a debut book? What forms of social media do you enjoy, or think give you the most bang for your buck marketing wise?

Thank you! I wouldn't say an online presence is critical to the success of a debut novel, but I do believe it helps. We live in a world that revolves around instant gratification. Readers turn to the Internet to find new books, share their opinions, connect with other readers, etc. It's important that we adapt and stay accessible.

Some of my favorite virtual haunts are: Twitter, Goodreads, Facebook, and Pinterest. Oh, and of course the blogosphere!

I know you’re currently working on STRENGTH’S sequel. Will the paranormal aspect get stronger/heavier? Do we still have Rena and Wallace as our protag’s?

Absolutely. I started this series with the concept of three supernatural races, and we've only discovered one. *grins* Yes, Rena and Wallace will be the protagonists. I have a couple of novellas planned to give the secondary characters their fifteen minutes of fame, though.

YAY for more Cole. :) What are your favorite genres to read?

Ah! That's so hard. I'd probably have to go with paranormal romance, suspense, contemporary romance, science fiction, and fantasy.

I thought it was great that Wallace was open about his faith. So often in fiction it’s the good girl dragging the bad boy to church, so this was refreshing. Was it important to you to include the religious aspect, or does it play a roll later on?

Wallace is one of the most complex characters I've ever written. I never planned for him to be religious, and I certainly don't write preachy novels, but I felt like he would seek a means of atonement for what happened seven years ago. Campus Fellowship became a safe place for him—a place where he could take refuge in something greater than himself (and his bloodline). When he shared that with Rena, he opened himself up to her for the first time.

That, and I love to mess with people's preconceived notions. ;)

Moving forward, Wallace's faith will be more subtle. I mean, we'll see some characters from Campus Fellowship again, but I don't anticipate any scenes involving a church service. The tie-ins will involve questions of morality, especially as the war escalates...

I love this answer because so often if religion or faith is added, we think it needs to be a 'thing'. If someone goes to soccer practice...it doesn't have to be a 'thing' but people go to church just like everything else in their life. I think it's healthy for young people to see it in normal settings without it being a lesson, so to speak. Is that making sense? I loved that it was just part of his life, and the "needing something bigger than himself/atonment" makes perfect sense to me.

Tell me about the guy on the cover. *swoon* Have you met him? Dish please…

I wish, Nicole! LOL Here are the three things I know about him:

1. He modeled for some of Yuri Arcurs' photos—which is how I came to license the image.

2. His name is Rodrigo.

3. He is a sexy beast of a man. YES HE IS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Where do you hope you will be as an author in 5 years?

I really, really want to make some type of bestselling list in the next five years. I think that's a great indicator of whether or not people are connecting with stories and telling their friends.

Of course, if that doesn't happen, I won't be too disappointed. It's not the most realistic goal. ;)

My guilty pleasures are historical romance novels and chocolate…preferably simultaneously. Can you share one or two of your favorite guilty pleasures?

1. Firefly. If someone makes the mistake of bringing it up in front of me, the DVDs magically appear in my hands, and I sprint toward the TV. Don't hate me Carrie, I've never even HEARD of this till now!!! *ducks*

2. Guild Wars 2. Whenever I get stuck on a scene, I indulge in a little dragon slaying.

(I just realized both of my guilty pleasures are super geeky. Haha!) Totally acceptable! :)

And finally, since I am near the end of the tour, let’s reflect for a moment. Anything you would do different next time? What was the best part of releasing your debut! ;)

Next time, I probably won't hold an open call for tour stops. I stretched myself a little too thin, and some people didn't even bother to post after they signed up. (Yikes!) I think asking/scheduling one or two bloggers per day will be more than enough. :)

Oh, the best part was definitely celebrating with family, friends, and readers. Writing can be such an isolated, solitary endeavor. It's nice to finally have something to share with everyone!

Wow...it's been quite some time. When it comes to blogging, it seems the longer I go, the harder it is to come back. I lose my blogging voice, I fear. Trying to get it back, and this is the first step! :)

So, I finished up a long revision (eek!) and have been reading like a fiend. I have a lot of books to share, and I'll start with this one!

STRENGTH Mark of Nexus Book 1 by Carrie Butler

Ok, moving on. I was super lucky to receive an ARC of this book back in February and I zoomed through it. Here's what it's about...

When college student Rena Collins finds herself nose-to-chest with the campus outcast, her rumor-laced notions are shattered. Handsome, considerate, and seemingly sane, Wallace Blake doesn’t look like he spends his nights alone, screaming and banging on the walls of his dorm room. Hell, he doesn’t look like he spends his nights alone, period.

Exciting right? I was hooked at the beginning with the "mysterious" Wallace. And what is it with those boys that we should ABSOLUTELY STAY AWAY FROM? *sigh*

True to form with my reviews...I don't give a lot away, but I'll tell you what I loved about both characters.

Rena: There are a lot of passive, "I don't want things to happen to me, but they do, so I deal with them and I happen to do it awesomely" female heroines in action/paranormal novels. That's fine, and I LOVE some of them, but Rena is different. She's not interested in waiting, she's aggressive and knows what she wants and I liked that about her immensely. It was refreshing, and despite Wallace's strength, he was no match for Rena! :)

Wallace: Uhhhh, super hot guy that is so strong he shouldn't touch you? Yeah, I shouldn't have to say too much. Wallace is like the Lion with the thorn in his paw. You should stay away, he's a LION!! But he needs you, right? Yep...he does, and that's exactly why loving Wallace's character was a no brainer for me. I also liked that Wallace was a nice guy, not your common brooding/strong bad boy. (Although, *clears throat* she may have that in the works...just guessing *wink*)

Lastly, I'll admit, I don't read a lot of paranormal, and I liked that this one wasn't heavy on a paranormal world. However, I think that will probably change with subsequent books. But I'm already hooked, so no biggie. I'm in, because guess what...Wallace has a brother!!!!!! Yeah...I'll be reading his book too.

Have you read LOSING IT, by Cora Carmack? If not, you need to remedy that pronto. It is such a fun read. I'm a romance junkie, so it was right up my alley. A Happy Story

The right head gear is essential.

Once upon a time, there was a girl. She learned to read when she was three. It was her favorite thing to do, and she would go to sleep with a bed full of books instead of dolls. Her favorite place was the library, the book store, or her daddy's lap when he read her a book. Her mother would tell her that she was going to be a writer. She believed her.

Sweet Pickles anyone? The girl has the bad perm, her dad, and her little sister.

Time passed, and she experienced life, death of a parent, sadness, first love, first heartbreak, first everything, traveling the globe, True Love, marriage, children, and all the while she read. A lot.

Awww, the character building years, and high waist jeans! How sweet.

Raising these jokers put the writing on hold a while! They had to be fed, bathed...and talked to!

Her family. Her husband is her biggest fan.

One day, she finally decided it was time. She put all of her heart and life experience into a story titled HEALING GRAVEL. She told her mother she was writing a book. Her response was..."I knew you would".

Fast forward through the process of finding an amazing critique group, revising, querying, contesting, rejection, and here we are. The next step in the process. The one she thought might never come.

The girl has an agent, and she is happy. So, so, very happy, because she couldn't have dreamed up a more perfect agent if she tried.

Lots of smiles lately...and brown hair!

Her journey with said agent began before Christmas (and it started with email in the slush, friends!). It is now official, and she has been DYING to share the news.

That agent is Sarah E. Younger of Nancy Yost Literary Agency, and together they will make that little girls dreams of being a published author come true. (No pressure, Sarah! ;) )

Let's Get Organized

I'm as guilty as the next person for setting lofty goals at the start of a new year, new semester, or new week for that matter. Starting fresh feels good. It feel's productive and it's full of possibility. The writerly/creative type seem to take this to another level. We like to buy new pens, notebooks, calendars, and organizing accoutrements. I mean, how intense is your happiness when you hit the office supply aisle at Target?!

Despite my not-so-cosistent track record, I'm doing it again. I'm making a plan for posting on this blog along with my critique group.We have deemed this year, our Year of Social Media. We plan to master it, or at the very least improve or online presence and platform. Part of that being our blog. So, we bring you....

OMG, GRACELING!

So, this weekend, I fell in love with a book. This is not that unusual an occurrence, in fact it happens often. I read A LOT, even by writer/reader standards. (I'm talking 150 books a year...yikes and shame).

But every once in a while, I read a book that I not only LOVE, but I mourn it after I'm done. I go into a little bit of a reader depression, where I think of the world and miss the characters. We all do this, right? I experienced this with GRACELING, by Kristen Cashore.

I've really surprised myself these past few months with how much I love YA fantasy. Fantasy would never be a genre I would have said was one of my favorites. Ever. But the YA fantasy I've been reading lately is sooooo good.

GRACELING is no exception. Katsa was such a badass, It was kind of refreshing to flip the common brooding boy/lovesick girl thing around. Not that Po was needy, he was actually PERFECT!! He will go down on my short list (again...this is relative, because it's kind of a long list) of best lead male's of all time. Of course, this book included my favorite love element...the separation. I can't help it, I love the reunion. I was also surprised with how much I liked Bitterblue. At first I was all "oh gah, we're going to add a child to this mix?" (spoken like a true mother, right?) But I loved this element, and loved Bitterblue's character. In fact, I can't wait to read her book. :)

The ending and 'sort-of'' twist. Not really even a twist, but a surprise, was perfect. It made me love the characters even more than I already did.

In my true review style, I don't give a lot of info except for the plea....YOU MUST READ THIS IF YOU HAVEN'T!! It's truly an amazing book. And if you're a writer, you have to check out Kristen's blog. She has the most amazing writing process. whoa! Whatever she's doing though, she must keep it up. :)

My Favorites: Picture Book Edition

I love picture books. Walking into the Children's section of a book store or library is one of my favorite things in the world, just as it was when I was a child. I have three children of my own now, and although two of them wouldn't admit to it, they will all circle around to listen to—and look at— a picture book.

We have definitely developed some favorites over the years. Some of them are classics—or my childhood favorites—and some we've found as the boys grew.

For several years I was the chairperson of the elementary school book fair, and it had a few perks. Book Fair week always ended with a stack of new books for us. What I'm saying is that we have a LOT!!! Here are some of my very favorites.

All the mice books by Kevin Henkes.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these books. They are cute, witty, and have the most adorable messages involving the most common childhood dilemma's. Fear of starting school, making friends, blankies, being made fun of, and worry are just a few. All told through mice families with the cutest names (Wemberly, Chrysanthemum, Owen, Lily, Chester) and the most perfect illustrations. I could pick these up and read them without my children. And I have! ;)

SYLVESTER AND THE MAGIC PEBBLE by William Steig

A classic! One day Sylvester goes on a walk and finds a magic pebble and makes a wish that has devastating consequences.

This book makes me cry, and I love everything about it. I have read that some think this book is too depressing and sad. Well, it is depressing and sad, and these are real emotions that people experience. Even children, and this book shows it in a beautifully illustrated way. The best part is sharing with your child that sometimes things seem hopeless, sometimes your alone and afraid, but there is hope and miracles happen. It almost makes me cry to think about it.

All the Harold Books by Crockett Johnson

These are a favorite from my childhood. I thought Harold adventures were the most magical thing, and I loved his little blue pajamas. I can still remember the illustration of him drawing the boat and climbing in. These are the epitome of childhood fantasy and imagination.

Berenstain Bears by Stan, Jan, and now Mike Berenstain

Who doesn't love these books??? I can't even tell you how many thousands of times I've read a Berenstain Bear book. I have many memories of my father and I lying in bed and reading these. Over and over and over. I still have most of those copies. Some of my very favorites were No Girls Allowed, The Sitter, The Truth, and Messy Room. These are perfect, there is nothing else to say.

PETE THE CAT by James Dean and Eric Litwin

My youngest introduced us to Pete via his Kindergarten teacher. We now all love Pete and his white shoes, buttons and rock and roll. These books are fun and so perfectly marketed for the modern child. Songs, videos, games and apps. I love it. We now even have a Pete doll.

STAND TALL, MOLLY LOU MELON by Patty Lovell and David Catrow

Molly Lou Melon is different, but she doesn't let that stand in her way of being extraordinary. I love the message and I love the illustrations of David Catrow. They are vibrant, unique, and engaging. My boys have always loved this one, even if it's about a girl! ;)

There are a million more great ones, I could never list them all. What are some of your favorites??

DUETuesday: GLEE edition (sorry)

Let it be known, I have never once watched an episode of Glee. I might like it, who knows, I'm just not a television person. In different era's of my life, I certainly have been, now (and the past four years) is not one of them.

However, I heard this edition of Endless Love somewhere, can't remember, and I loved it!! With research I found that it's sung by a teacher and student...okay.

Long overdue post here, I can't believe it's a new year! :)

Today I feel like a new person due to the fact that it's the first "well" day after a full week with the flu. It's always amazing how wonderful normal feels after being sick.

I'm so excited for 2013 for a multitude of reasons, some I'm not ready to share (how's that for annoying!!), and some I haven't full wrapped my head around clearly enough to type out. (Still trying to clear my head after fever/flu nightmare) I do have some big plans for my blog, both content and design wise, so please stay tuned.

I really just wanted to check in and wish everyone a Happy 2013!! Hope all your dreams for the year come true!

Oh, one more thing...anyone planning on attending RT Review Conference here in KC this May?? I'd love to know if you are! :)

Two fantabulous writers (Jessica Love and Kelsey Macke) had a brilliant idea a while back.

Like a Secret Santa concept, where you sign up, get a name (someone gets yours) and you buy them a mug and ship it off! Everyone loves getting a package, and I was sooooo excited to get mine! :)

This person had no idea that I love thrown pottery, and yet, that is exactly what I got. It's so beautiful, and I love how fat the handle is. A weird mug quirk I have—fat handle and fat rim. (yes, that's kind of gross!! haha)

I've been so busy with portraits and weddings, I forgot to post my exciting news from the past month.

I am a finalist in the Mid America Romance Writers: Fiction from the Heartland Contest. YAY!!

This year there were 11 finalists, three of which were Young Adult, (one was me!!). I have no clue how many people entered. Not that it matters, but of course I'm curious. I got two really great and helpful critique sheets, and used them to do a spit and polish before I sent it off for the final round. That round (squee) consists of a reading of your first 33 pages plus synopsis by an editor and agent. I'm so excited, if nothing else I'm excited to—hopefully—get a little helpful feedback, especially from an editor.

Still querying and waiting of course. Being busy the past couple of months has really helped take my mind off of things......NOPE, I'm a liar, it hasn't helped at all, ;) but no matter what, my ms will end up better off for the process. Not quitting!!!!!!

Duetuesday- The Civil Wars weep

Have you heard the news? The heartbreaking, soul-shattering news, that The Civil Wars has canceled their upcoming tour due to "Internal Discord"? It was devastating to me. I LOVE THEM! One of them put a tweet out that day that said they hope to have new music out in 2013.

What does that mean???? It's already recorded, so it will be easy to release? OR they hope to actually make the music in 2013?? I hope it's the latter. OR both.

80% of my novel HEALING GRAVEL was created or written, while listening to their music. It's only approriate to honor them with today's DueTuesday spot.

Mourn with me.

The Intro of the Duetuesday

I have a confession. I've always had an obsession with duets. Especially duets from the 80's and 90's. I think we tend to forget some of these classics. I got to revisit some older music while writing my ms due to a characters past. It was really fun, and reminded me of so many old songs that I used to love.

So many good duets were hugely popular, and often tied to movies. Not sure why I've always loved them, the harmony, the romantic element. But I DO love them. So here is the first in the installment, and it's an oldie. It's one of the first duets I remember loving as a kid. :) (If you don't love Dolly, you. are. nuts.)

September/October Reads

Once again, I'm in the thick of it. Crazy Fall Portrait Season. This year it's also Crazy Fall Wedding Season. A wedding every Saturday until the second weekend of November.

In a way, it's been good. This fall I'm querying, and as anyone who has queried knows...it's good to have something to take your mind off of waiting. Waiting is hard.

Just thought I'd check in and offer up some reading recommendations. I'm not going to give a lot of info, just know that if the book is in the post, I think it's worth reading! ;)

TIGER LILY, by Jodi Lynn Anderson

This took me a couple of chapters to get into it, but once I did, I was in LOVE!!! A beautiful, beautiful read.

JELLICOE ROAD (Or On the Jellicoe Road) by Melina Marchetta

Don't give up in the beginning, it's worth it. It will all come together. There were many things about this book that reminded me of the novel I'm currently querying. Of course, that meant I love it, because I write things I love.

OUTPOST by Ann Aguirre

I LOVE THIS SERIES, and if possible I might have loved this one a little more than the first. Hmm. I don't know, just read this one and the first one, ENCLAVE.

GRAVE MERCY by Robin LaFevers

I really enjoyed this, and it was an auto pick because we love Robin in our house. (little boys love the Nathaniel Fludd series.) I will definitely be reading book two.

The Perks of Being a Reader

Sometimes I think about those people that say "I don't read" and I feel very sad for them. Truth be told, when someone says that, I feel a little annoyed. It's like they've said they don't really breathe. In my world, reading is a complete necessity.

There are some books that make this even more true for me. The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky was one of them. You know that feeling, when you finally read a book and are appalled with yourself that you hadn't read it right when it came out? I know there are plenty of books out there like that waiting for me to read them. The kind of book that when you close it, the world feels different. Or no, maybe the book has just reminded you of the world you knew existed but you'd forgotten it for a while. But either way, you FEEL it.

I read Charlies letters (the book is formatted in a series of letters to "a friend", don't let this scare you. It was perfect.) at a frantic pace. I fell in love with him as a literary character. As I fell in love with him, I mourned all of the Charlie's that must have passed by me through life...in high school, college and even elementary school. It made me feel grateful for the Charlie's I know and love. You might assume that since this is told through the letters of a freshmen in high school, it might be simple. So not true. Charlie is brilliant and insightful, although naieve and sometimes unsure of himself. Often unsure of himself, but his words are beautiful.

The book explores the idea that we are all soooo messed up in our own ways. We are all just trying to find our place in the world. All just wanting to be loved and accepted, while still finding our true self.

I don't want to say too much about it, because I really didn't know a lot going in and I think that added to the enjoyment. I will say the ending was NOT what I expected, and I loved that about it. Loved it. It was perfect though, and I'm glad I hadn't figured it out.

Run to your nearest bookseller, or library, and read this book. Read it before you rush out to see the movie which opens today, because as is always the case, I know this book will be better than the movie. (although the movie looks fantastic!)

Catching Up and The Perks!

What a busy month!

My own work load (photography) always increases this time of year with seniors and families. Then add the chaos of back to school and homework, then my writing and what not. I'm really tired right now.

I'm also contested out. I entered both Pitch Madness (Brenda Drake hosted!) and GUTGAA. (Deana Barnhart.) I don't know if I'll do a contest again. While they're fun and exciting, they are also stressful and add to the drama of the querying process which is hard enough on it's own. I did get some requests and some great feedback, so it was worth it, but I'm glad they're over. (For me anyway! :))

Tomorrow is the theatrical release of The Perks of Being a Wallflower! I can't wait to see it, and tomorrow I will be sharing my review of the book...which of course you should read! I was lucky enough to receive a copy from the lovely ladies of Small Girls PR. (They are fantastic!) They also shared this awesome Spotify playlist for the movie/book which is so fun!

I Need Some Fall

Fall is my favorite time of year. I love the weather, the activities, the holidays, and of course the clothes. But most importantly, I love the food. Chili, soup, baked goods, crock pot recipes.

One of these I even broke out this weekend. It was so good, I thought I'd share it with you.

Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bread

31/3 C flour

2 C sugar

2 Tablespoons Pumpkin Pie spice

2 Teaspoons baking soda

1/2 Teaspoon baking powder

dash of salt

4 eggs

2 C plain pumpkin (tip, I just used one small can of pumpkin. It's close enough!)

1 C melted butter

1 Bag Mini semi sweet chocolate chips (I also think white would be delicious!!)

Preheat oven to 350. Mix dry ingredients (this includes the sugar) in large bowl. Set aside. In another bowl beat the eggs a little, then add the pumpkin and butter. Whisk together. Stir in the chocolate chips. Pour wet ingredients into dry and fold together. Pour into greased baking pans.(warning, the batter is very thick. almost like cookie dough.)

Here is the best part. This makes a lot of batter so you can mix it up. You can put it in a bundt pan (bake for about an hour and 15 min), large loaves (bake for 40-45 minutes), small pans (bake for about 30 minutes), or muffins (bake for 20-25 minutes). Of course all of these times are approximate, I just did it until a knife came out clean. you would NOT want to over bake this...so don't leave it! My favorite is small loaves and this will make about seven.

GUTGAA- Meet and Greet Monday

I've just started the whole "contest" part of the agent search and it seems to be fun, but also really stressful. (I entered a contest the other night at midnight only to realize it was the next day at NOON!! Ugh.

But now I've entered the GUTGAA (Gearing Up to Get An Agent) sponsored by the lovely Deana Barnhart. She has put so much work into this it's unreal. I believe you can still sign up, so get over and do it if you're looking for an agent! :)

Mini Bio- I'm 33, married, and have 3 sons. I own my own photography business and read WAY TOO MUCH! Oh, and I write! :)

Now for the questions...

-Where do you write? At my laptop at my kitchen table, or at a desk in my bedroom. I've probably done the majority of my writing at the desk.

-Quick. Go to your writing space, sit down and look to your left. What is the first thing you see? If I'm at the table, it's a window outside to my backyard. In my room it's a wall with a picture my youngest son drew when he was just learning to draw people. I love that picture.

-Favorite time to write? Morning, usually, but some of my favorite scenes been written late at night. That's rare though.

-Drink of choice while writing? Creamer with coffee.

-When writing , do you listen to music or do you need complete silence? Iused to think i needed silence, but about a year ago I tried writing with headphones in and loved it. I wrote faster and liked what I wrote so much more on the first try. Now I always write with headphones.

-What was your inspiration for your latest manuscript and where did you find it? One day my boys and I went on a drive in our small town. We passed a farm house with a big beautiful pond with a dock. By the time we got home i had a scenario with that dock in my head. Over the writing of this book the story became real around that particular event. (Which was a FOUR YEAR process. Hopefully the next one won't take so long! :))

-What's your most valuable writing tip? Get a good critique group of people that take their writing very seriously, and are very honest with you. My girls have made me SO MUCH BETTER.
