TUAW (The Unofficial Apple Weblog) has information on the first SIP VOIP phone call for the iPod Touch. Although it’s still early days in the application, it’s looking interesting.This is GOOD design.Apple's new iPhone represents the pinnacle of industrial design, interaction design, visual design, cool factor, technolust, etcetera.

Interaction design definition :

Interaction design is the process of producing useful, usable software products and concern with behavior of products. And is a way of comparing and understanding how different kinds of experiences can be developed to support the goals and messages of any communication.

By interaction it might means communication between a user and computer, be it direct or indirect. Direct interaction involves a dialog with feedback and control throughout the performance of the task. Indirect interaction may involve background or batch processing. The important thing is that the user is interacting with the computer in order to accomplish something.

Instructional design definition:

Instructional design is known as an Instructional System Design
that aim to understand and improve the teaching and leaning process
and transfer knowledge, skills and attitude most effectively.

It is an entire process of instruction improvement
through the analysis of leaning needs and systematic development of instruction
and leaning material as it is formed by Analysis, Design, Develop, Implement,
and Evaluation.

With up to 100 million viewers in a given day and averaging 65,000 videos uploaded per day, YouTube has successfully leveraged network effects for growth and viral adoption with a success that few have ever equaled. Last year image sharing was the hot social media sharing play, but 2006 is clearly the year of video. You can find a video on just about anything you can think of on YouTube and its radical ease of use, innovative tagging infrastrcture, and drop-dead easy to host YouTube badge (with the Javascript snippet it for it right next to each and every video) sets the standard for the rest of the industry. The selection for this category was easy and YouTube was the clear choice.

Information Design is concerned with clarity and understanding of transforming data into information, making the complex easier to understand quickly.so that can be used by human beings with efficiency and effectiveness.As a sign of our times,
when the crafting of messages and meaning is so central to our lives, information design is an essential. Contemporary information designers seek to edify more than to persuade. With more powerful technologies of communication and it is a rapidly growing discipline that draws on typography, graphic design, applied linguistics, applied psychology, applied ergonomics, computing, and other fields.

An information sign is a very legibly printed and very noticeable placard that informs people of the purpose of an object, or gives them instruction on the use of something.

Web 2.0 Definition :

According to Tim O’Reilly,
“Web 2.0 is the business revolution in the computer industry caused by
the move to the internet as platform, and an attempt to understand the
rules for success in that new platform.”

Web 2.0 is created by O'Reilly Media and CMP Media in their 2004 and
subsequent conferences on the subject.

Web2.0 is as a platform of communication these days
which it has a simplicity and flexibility.

Since the value moved to service delivered on the web,
it delivered undated services continually and consuming data from multiple sources. In terms of thin client computing it is a related to business,
it provides and supply information for particular purpose and saved data
and applications on Web servers so it allows user can access from any individual computer through by a Web browser.

Social Network Sites :
In communities around the world, teenagers are joining social network sites like MySpace, Facebook and Bebo. Once logged into these systems, participants are asked to create a profile to represent themselves digitally. Using text, images, video, audio, links, quizzes, and surveys, teens generate a profile that expresses how they see themselves. These profiles are sewn together into a large web through ‘Friends’ lists. Participants can mark other users as ‘Friends’. If that other person agrees with the relationship assertion, a photo of each is displayed on the profile of the other. Through careful selection, participants develop a ‘Friends’ list.

The collection of ‘Friends’ is not simply a list of close ties. Instead, this feature allows participants to articulate their imagined audience - or who they see as being a part of their world within the site. While SNSes have millions of users, most participants only care about a handful of them. Who they care about is typically represented by the list of Friends. If an individual imagines her profile to be primarily of concern to a handful of close friends, she is quite likely to have very few ‘Friends’ and, if the technology allows it, she’ll keep her profile private. If she wants to be speaking to her broader peers, her Friends list is likely to have hundreds or thousands of Friends who are roughly the same age, have the same style, listen to the same music, and are otherwise quite similar to her. She is also quite likely to keep her profile publically visible to anyone so that she can find others in her peer group.

Profiles and Friends lists are two key features on social network sites. The third is a public commenting featureThis feature allows individuals to comment on their Friends’ profiles. These comments are displayed prominently and visible for anyone who has access to that profileThese three features - profiles, Friends lists, and comments - comprise the primary structure of all social network sites, although individual sites provide additional features for further engagement. While SNSes allow visitors to wander from Friend to Friend and communicate with anyone who has a visible profile, the primary use pattern is driven by pre-existing friend groups. People join the sites with their friends and use the different messaging tools to hang out, share cultural artifacts and ideas, and communicate with one another.

Web Design Definition :

What is Web design? The definition of "Web Design" can vary, depending on
who you ask. Web designers working for one company may perform different tasks
than Web designers working for another company. The basic answer is that Web design is the design of a Web page or Website, including the information and user interface design, but not including programming. Programming falls under the definition of Web development, or Web application programming (to name two of many).

At a smaller company, with fewer people and more overlap of job descriptions, Web design can be defined as the whole production of the Website from start to finish. To clarify this a bit, let's outline the process of creating a Website from scratch.

1. Discovery
In this step, the Web designer finds out as much about the company and its clients as possible, paying special attention to the user audience of the Website.

2. Planning
Project definition documents are created as a guide to the creation of the Website. It is important that the scope, audience and goals of the Website are clearly defined during this stage, so the resulting project definition can be used as a touchstone to keep everyone on track throughout the process.

3. Information Design
How will the information be broken down and presented to the user? If what
the user will be looking for is well defined in the discovery and planning stages, this will be an easier job. The information design, or information architecture, step includes design of the navigation and is the most critical step in making the Website user-friendly.

4. Graphic Design
Graphic design may seem trivial to some, but it is also a very important factor i
n the usability of the Website. It isn't just about making the Website look pretty. It is also about visual balance and readable typography, both of which are critical in the creation of a user-friendly Web design.

When these steps have been completed, you have a finished Web design. Loosely speaking, putting it together is called Web production,
and making it work is called Web development.
