About the project:

Nepali Yuwa in Climate Action and Green Growth (NYCAGG) project is funded by the European Union to promote the involvement of young Nepali people in green growth, environmental protection, and combatting climate change. NYCAGG is a four-year-long project that will be implemented in Province 2, Karnali Province, and Sudurpaschim Province through the consortium partners Youth Innovation Lab (YI-Lab), Restless Development Nepal, CREASION, and CDMS.

NYCAGG focuses on working with young people, empowering and providing them a platform to aid towards the post-COVID recovery and development process. Furthermore, the activities under Climate Fellowship, Climate Smart Entrepreneurship, Mentee-mentorship, Digital Advocacy, and Youth Sounding Board work towards empowering young people, providing them employment opportunities, generating innovative ideas to address climate and environmental issues, and advocating for policy changes to promote environmental protection.

Youth Innovation Lab invites dynamic and enthusiastic Nepali citizens to apply for the following position.

Job Description:

LDCRP Expert will be responsible to oversee the whole process of the recently endorsed Local Disaster and Climate Resilience Framework (LDCRF) by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) and development from training and guiding Climate Fellows placed at the municipal level, coordinating with municipal governments, drafting LDCRF and incorporating feedbacks combining both climate change adaptation and DRR perspective for building resilient communities and make local government more responsive and inclusive. S/he will be responsible for supporting activities under Climate Fellowship.

Qualifications

1. Education and experiences

Master’s degree in Disaster Risk Management, Environment Science, Environmental Engineering, Climate Science/Studies, or any other relevant field.
At least 5 years of experience in implementing and managing DRM projects. Demonstrated expertise and experience in developing and operationalizing disaster management related acts, policies, strategies, and guidelines.
Demonstrated expertise and experience in developing and operationalizing DPRP/LDCRP, expertise in community-based disaster management, Vulnerability and Capacity Assessment (VCA) and experience in digital VCA. Sound knowledge of LDCRF processes and procedures.
Working experience with provincial and local government including LDCRP development and its implementation.
Expertise in facilitation and capacity building and providing training for preparing LDCRF.
Technical Expertise in handling and using Bipad Portal
Practical knowledge of local disaster risk management planning process including the development of legal documents related to DRM, and CCA.

2. Skills and competencies

Strong government stakeholder coordination and familiarity with Government of Nepal DRM and climate related matters.
Knowledge of climate resilient practices.
Sound knowledge of GIS.
Advocacy skills especially with government stakeholders.
Coordinate with young people and guide them accordingly.
Fluency in written and spoken English and Nepali.
Attention to detail, ability to follow procedures, meet deadlines, track progress, and work independently and cooperatively with team members.
Advance skill in using Computer and IT, and good experiences in using the digital platform.

Roles and Responsibilities

1. Coordination and administration

Maintain close coordination and contact with partnered provincial and municipal governments.
Development of LDCRF and support in its endorsement.
Ensure the overall coordination with Climate Fellowship Coordinator and Climate Fellows for the implementation of Climate Fellowship and provide needed guidance for LDCRF development.
Provide training and guidance to Climate Fellows throughout the Climate Fellowship period.
Ensure timely, effective, and efficient implementation of the Climate Fellowship activities.

2. Compliance to policies, rules/regulations, and guidelines

Adhere to Youth Innovation Lab organizational policies, procedures, regulations, and guidelines.
Ensure that the organization and donor’s compliances are met.

3. Monitoring and evaluation

Carry out internal monitoring of Climate Fellowship activities.
Frequently monitor and evaluate the data quality and information provided by Climate Fellows.
Frequently monitor the GIS based map preparation and other relevant activities.

4. Reporting

Draft and finalize the LDCRF report after incorporating feedback from partnered palikas.
Collect and compile learning, good practices, and case studies from the field.
Support Climate Fellowship Coordinator in preparing reports.

The Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Lead is primarily responsible for leading all components of monitoring, evaluation, learning and special studies on an anticipated U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food For Progress project in Nepal called Modernizing Aquaculture in Nepal. The project is designed to address food security through improvements in the aquaculture value chain by (1) incorporating climate smart technologies, (2) improving end market linkages and incomes for farmers, (3) increasing access to finance for farmers to expand trade of agricultural products, and (4) strengthening the public and private sector.

The MEL Lead responsibilities include developing the Evaluation Plan, Performance Monitoring Plan, and MEL Plan to incorporate project-specific indicators aligned with the project results framework. S/he will manage the collection, analysis, validation, and storage of the project's data and all data quality assessment activities. The MEL Lead will manage the development of data collection tools, research and evaluation methodologies, and managing the online database system for managing data. S/he will oversee routine data quality assurance exercises, data collection, data entry, data analysis, validation and timely reporting and disseminate lessons learned, best practices, and other project deliverables.

The position will be based in the project office in Simara, Bara district, Nepal.

Responsibilities:

Leads the development, review and updating of The Performance Monitoring Plan And Evaluation Plan (PMEP) to meet the donor requirement.
Develops and refines the monitoring framework, ensuring alignment with project objectives, the Theory of Change (ToC), and donor expectations.
Builds and strengthens the capacity of the project team, partners, grant receipients and stakeholders in monitoring, evaluation and learning activities
Designs and develops data collection tools and methods, incorporating innovative approaches such as 3D data collection for enhanced accuracy and analysis.
Oversees data collection, analysis, and reporting, ensuring the validity, reliability, precision, timeliness, and integrity of data across all project partners.
Ensure validity, reliability, precision, timeliness and integrity for quality data collection across the team, inclusive of LWR team, consortium partners, grant recipients and stakeholders.
Coordinates and supports the drafting of semi-annual and final project technical reports, ensuring compliance with USDA requirements and high-quality reporting.
Prepare reports on project performance on indicators and targets semi-annually in project performance reports and final report.
Provides regular updates to USDA through the COP and DCOP, including requests for target adjustments as needed.
Responsible for drafting the Terms of Reference for evaluations, assessments and special studies carried out on the project.
Oversees the recruitment and work of evaluation firms or consultants for baseline, midterm, and final evaluations, ensuring alignment with the PMP, Evaluation Plan, and ToC.
Reports on implementation of evaluation, assessments and special studies findings for future follow-up actions in the project. Ensure documentation of all findings are collated in reports and shared widely with the project team and Technical Business Unit (TBU), headquarters.
Reviews the USDA food for progress learning agenda and dissemination strategy to enhance knowledge sharing and evaluation utilization.

Supervisory:

This position will report to Chief of Party and will be managing MEL Officer and Data Analyst.

Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree in statistics, monitoring and evaluation, demography, social science, mathematics, economics, or relevant discipline.
Master's degree in similar field is desired.
At least 8 years relevant work experience of leading monitoring and evaluation of a complex agriculture, economic growth or trade projects, with USG projects.
Significant study in the agricultural market field, international development and/or program monitoring and evaluation is preferred.
Experience in the design, training, and implementation of MEL in development projects, preferably in agriculture, economic growth, trade and markets.
In-depth understanding of and expertise in US government Food for Progress or Feed the Future standard indicators, MEL functions, performance monitoring plans and reporting.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Familiarity with software systems like (Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, statistical software, online and/or mobile applications) used in M&E for data management (data collection, storage, analysis and dissemination).
Prior experience of working in a team and mobilizing the team is required.
Deep commitment to LWR's core values and ability to model those values in relationships with colleagues and partners.
Fluency in English and Nepali is required for this position.

The project aims to work with different levels of stakeholders including children, NGOs and policy makers and government authorities to ensure the participation of working children and their voices to be heard and recommendations are reflected in the relevant policy documents.

The Aasaman Nepal is looking for self-motivated, result oriented, and hard-working Nepali citizens for the following positions:

Position: Project Coordinator- One

The general responsibility of the Project Coordinator is to support Program Manager on planning and implementation, coordination, capacity building and reporting of advocacy initiatives of the Listening to the expert's project. The specific responsibility includes

Responsible for activity planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of the project
Responsible for the coordination with relevant stakeholders for the implementation of the project

I don’t need to say anything more about how fantastic this watch is. I was a garmin forerunner holdout for years and finally switched as I wanted a watch to listen to music with while running. The only negative thing I can say about this watch is battery life but I knew that before purchasing it. My solution was using the watch in nightstand mode at night and it’s always charged for a full day of activity. Please note by doing this u can’t use the watch to track sleep but that’s not an issue as i have never had a need to track sleep. I get about 3.5 miles of running in a day and with GPS, heart rate and music playback on and I still have not dipped below 30 percent battery life by the time i take it off to charge at night. The only thing I miss about the garmin ecosystem is the ability to track mileage on my gear/shoes.

The reason I am writing a review is to urge u to by Apple Care +. It’s 2.49 a month or 49 dollars for two years of coverage and no I am not associated with Apple. I am just a crazy active person getting about 20k steps a day.

I was wearing the watch yesterday while edging the fence line with my gas trimmer. I rolled my ankle on a slope and fell into the fence. The angle must have been just right and hit the upper left corner of the watch off the fence post shattering the screen.

I was shocked to find that the cost of the screen replacement on the watch is the exact price I bought it for from amazon. It’s 229. With Apple Care + the cost comes down to 69 dollars. With the care plan u are covered for two years from date of purchase and they allow for two accidental damage repairs over the life of the policy. The only catch is u have to add the plan within 60 days of purchase.

That’s all I have to say. I used to say AirPods were the most innovative thing Apple has done in ages but now I feel it’s the watch. Apple pay even more amazing on the watch and being able to voice respond to Tex’s is killer since Apple keeps iMessages locked down to their devices only for the time being.

Ok, I'm not that tech savvy but I thought the watch would do more! I really thought I could use Siri like I use it on my phone, which was a big selling point for me. 8/10 times I use Siri it tells me to continue on my phone. I asked Siri to take me to 'such and such' and it gave me directions with a vibration to the wrist with turns (really close to turning, should give a bit more time to get in the lane lol) which I like. It's good for having your texts at your wrist and that's about it for me. I tried to answer a call on it while my phone was in the other room but the quality was so bad they hung up. It won't set an alarm, only a timer. No Google/internet searching whatsoever (hince no Siri). No scrolling through your social media like FB or Reddit but gives notifications which is annoying. It's kinda like heyyyy pick up your cell and look at this. The battery is good, I haven't charged it in almost 3 days. It tells me to stand up if I'm sitting for an hour. I can ping me cell when I misplace it. That's about all i have used it for. I really didn't need to be closer to my text messages so it's not worth it to me.

After helping 100’s of people who suffer from painful sciatica and battling it myself when I was younger…

I can you tell there’s probably no more aggravating form of back pain.

Sometimes you can’t sit. Sometimes you can’t stand. Sometimes you can’t walk or drive. Or even lie in bed.

The pain is simply wretched.

A couple days ago, someone came into our clinic on her hands and knees. It was the only way she could find relief.

She was in tears. The pain radiating down her legs was unbearable.

She actually inspired today’s article. Today I’m going to tell you what I told her…

Every week in fact, my clinics and programs are a destination for people from all walks of life who suffer from sciatica.

The first thing you should appreciate is sciatica is not a disease. That’s right.

Allow me to be clear about this, because it’s important:

“Sciatica” is not a diagnosis.

If you’re seeing a doctor and they’re telling you that’s what you have, you’re not being told the whole truth.

(I have doctors who are in pain visit my clinics, so I know.)

Let’s put it this way:

Sciatica is a symptom. The doctor is only labeling a symptom. They’re not telling you what is actually wrong!

Now when they put a label your pain, I totally get how good that makes you feel in the moment.

What happens next?

They prescribe some heavy duty Ibuprofen to calm the inflammation, maybe ship you off to a physical therapist, and then they’re onto the next patient.

And you already know how that works, don’t we?

Let’s face it:

The Reality is a Lot of Doctors Fail to Fix Their Sciatica Patients

They return repeatedly with the same pain, the same issue, the same cry for help.

The doctor eventually begins to wonder whether the patient even wants to get better.

Imagine that! It doesn’t quite occur to them it could be the treatment that’s not working.

And that’s because their “Sciatica” diagnosis just becomes an easy way of sending the patient home happy.

For the record…

Sciatica is the term that describes symptoms of pain that begins in the lower back and extends down through your butt, thigh, and sometimes as far as your foot.

Mostly likely, that tingling or painful sensation going down your leg is caused upstream in your spine… such as:

A disc irritating, compressing or pinching a nerve…
A facet joint at the back of a vertebra which is out of alignment…
A strained back muscle spasming and painfully squeezing a nearby nerve or nerve sheathe…

Multiply these issues by the number of vertebrae and muscles in the back and…

You can appreciate how much work it can be to accurately diagnose the root problem. Even with technology like MRIs.

Which is why most doctors feel they’re doing the best they can with the resources available.

That’s why I prefer to take a more self-directed, holistic approach to fixing sciatica.

So… How Do We Fix the Pain and Numbness?

Recently, a successful yoga instructor came to my clinic and…

Even after decades of yoga, for some reason, she still suffered with sciatica.

I don’t know about you, but I was under the impression that yoga instructors and their active, stretch-filled, muscle-focused, posture-perfect lifestyle…

… Would be the LAST PEOPLE ON EARTH to experience back pain.

Actually, I was rather shocked.

If a 45-year old, healthy yoga instructor can be dealt a crippling back pain blow…

What does this say about the rest of us?

Here’s Michelle’s inspiring story in her own words.

I think it’ll inspire hope if you’re also suffering…

I was feeling very weak in my core area. And I was having pain radiating down in my lower back.

I was going to the doctors and they were telling me things like “you need to have disc replacement.”

You need to be on these pain medications…

And they wanted to basically put me through a lot of surgical procedures…

And I didn’t want to do ANY of that. But the pain was so bad… I needed some relief.

So I went to two neurosurgeons and a back pain specialist.

The surgeons wanted to operate on me in different places… and the back pain specialist wanted to do various procedures including implanting something permanent in my spine.

I’ve had 4 procedures that involved needles in my spine. It only gave me a little bit of temporary relief for couple of days. But it didn’t cure or really help anything.

It just put a band-aid on the pain for couple of days and that was it.

However, after my first session with Ian, I felt an opening in my back that I haven’t felt in a long time.

I felt stronger to my core and I felt the radiating burning heat pain I was feeling seem to dissipate a little bit.

It seemed to just open up my back in general.

And then after my second session, I noticed EVEN MORE the stretch in my lower back and more strengthening in muscles that had been weak that I think might help support my lower back.

I was VERY SKEPTICAL about doing Ian’s methods.

Because, as a yoga instructor, I feel very knowledgeable in anatomy. And how to help people that come to me in pain.

But I was unaware of certain muscles that I was not using in the body that might help my lower back.

How did we help Michelle? Or maybe more aptly, how did Michelle help herself?

She did 8 specific movements…

These 8 movements are totally unlike “the sheets” of exercises you get from chiropractors or doctors.

Instead, we “wake up” certain muscles and restore muscle balance. That’s key.

Then in certain areas of her back, we jump-started pathways so vital oxygen and nutrition could get in and help her heal.

That’s the holistic way to relieve and remove sciatica.

It’s not uncommon, but in Michelle’s case, it took just two 30-minute sessions.

Two 30-minute sessions and she was completely out of pain.

Yes, there are ways to get out of pain. They don’t require medication, surgery or injections. They don’t require months of physiotherapy.

You just have to restore your body’s natural functional movement and muscle balance and allow it to heal naturally.
