Computing Basics:

The first computers were used primarily for numerical calculations. গত ২৪ ঘণ্টায় দেশে মরণঘাতী করোনাভাইরাসে আরো ৪৩ জনের মৃত্যু হয়েছে। এ নিয়ে দেশে ১ হাজার ৫৪৫ জনের মৃত্যু হলো। এ ছাড়া একদিনে আরো ৩ হাজার ৪১২ জনকে আক্রান্ত হিসেবে শনাক্ত করা হয়েছে। এ নিয়ে দেশে আক্রান্তের সংখ্যা দাঁড়ালো ১ লাখ ১৯ হাজার ১৯৮ জন।

তিনি জানান, ৬৫টি ল্যাবে গত ২৪ ঘণ্টায় নমুনা সংগ্রহ হয়েছে ১৭ হাজার ৫৬৩টি। পরীক্ষা করা হয়েছে ১৬ হাজার ২৯২টি নমুনা। এর মধ্যে ৩ হাজার ৪১২ জনকে আক্রান্ত হিসেবে শনাক্ত করা হয়েছে। এ নিয়ে দেশে আক্রান্তের সংখ্যা বেড়ে দাঁড়ালো ১ লাখ ১৯ হাজার ১৯৮ জন।

Prime minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday said the achievement of Awami League through its sacrifice and endurance is that the liberation of Bangladesh.

"The achievement that came through sacrifices and endurance of Awami League is that the liberation of Bangladesh...today we've got a rustic of our own, we've got our dignity as a nation...this is the most important achievement," she said.

CSA conducted over 100 tests throughout the country on affiliate staff and a few of the contracted professional players, including the franchise training squads that had been assembled after the govt announced that non-contact sport could resume in Level 3 of the nationwide lockdown.

“We were definitely getting to have people testing positive. Having conducted over 100 tests, seven is really quite low,” CSA’s acting CEO Jacques Faul told ‘Sport24’.

Captain Imam Mahdi seems like he's on the battlefront of a war. he's the team leader of a gaggle of army personnel fighting not against any country but against the deadly coronavirus infection that's threatening to go away his country in ruins.

He is grimly determined to win the war against Covid-19 by flattening the curve. In epidemiology, the thought of slowing a virus' spread in order that fewer people got to seek treatment at any given time is understood as "flattening the curve".

His team is functioning to realize that goal.

As a part of his battle, captain Mahdi on Sunday afternoon found out a check-post on Azimpur Road ahead of Eden Mohila College, resulting in Lalbagh, one among the nine epicenters of the coronavirus outbreak in Dhaka. a minimum of 11 people have already tested positive for the deadly Covid-19 disease in Lalbagh alone.

Mahdi isn't alone. quite 7,000 army personnel in nearly 600 teams are busy implementing the govt order of social distancing in 62 districts since Annunciation when the govt deployed the military to assist civil administration to tackle the spread of the virus.

The army men patrol across the country to enforce social distancing, provide protective equipment – including face masks and hand sanitisers – and make awareness about coronavirus.

The security forces are keeping an in depth eye on people that have recently returned to the country from abroad. They monitor the returnees regularly to make sure that they follow quarantine rules.

In fact, people that see enforcement agency members doing their duty regularly are now abiding by the order of social distancing within the presence of military officials.

The number of infected people within the country is increasing fast. The capital is that the worst affected area within the country. within the last one month, quite 300 people tested positive for Covid-19 in Dhaka city alone. As a result, army personnel are now more alert within the city area.

More than 80 teams of security forces patrol Dhaka streets from dawn to dusk a day to make awareness and to advise people to remain reception . They also spray disinfectants on the roads.

Captain Mahdi said they were creating awareness about social distancing, asking people to scrub their hands frequently and ensuring that folks avoid gatherings even in kitchen markets.

"We have ensured that every kitchen market features a single-entry bookkeeping and a separate exit," said Mahdi. "No one is allowed to return out through the entry gate."

Army officials said that in the shutdown people leave of their homes mainly to shop for medicines and visit doctors. Besides, bankers and doctors leave to attend their offices.

"We don't allow anyone to travel out without a legitimate reason," said Mahdi, adding that they stop and ask each and each person at the checkpost.

The Bangladesh Army runs a quarantine centre at the Ashkona Hajj camp within the city, which has 38 people in quarantine now. they need also launched a health campaign in several places across the country to supply treatment to patients of other diseases.

"The army will support and assist the civil administration in enforcing the lockdown and ensuring the implementation of other government orders and directions ," said light colonel Abdullah Ibn Zaid, director of the Inter Services PR Directorate.

Bangladesh Army will supervise the 1,000-bed isolation hospital dedicated to treating COVID-19 patients on the ground floor of DNCC market.

"The armed forces will coordinate the overall activities with assistance from the health and family welfare ministry," according to a press release of Inter Services Public Relation Directorate(ISPR), signed by its assistant director Rashedul Alam Khan.

Patients (mild cases), shifted from other hospitals, will be admitted to this hospital. They will be shifted to nearby specilised hospital if their conditions deteriorate, the ISPR said.

Dhaka North City Corporation mayor will coordinate the hospital activities, it said.

However, a brigadier general ranked officer will be appointed as the director of the hospital, physicians, health workers, administrative officials and a core group will be appointed from the Bangladesh Army to ensure its smooth management.

A number of physicians, health workers will be appointed for the isolation centre by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the release said.

Armed force will ensure all kinds of administration management and security issues of the hospital and the activities of the isolation centre will be started soon.

Meanwhile, another hospital with 50-bed intensive care unit including 300 bed-hospital is being set up on 5th floor of DNCC market which will be supervised by the World Health Organization and the health and family welfare ministry.

If needed, ICU and pathology lab facilities will be provided for the hospital on the ground floor, led by Bangladesh Army.

Bangladesh has so far reported 112,306 coronavirus cases and 1,464 deaths. The health authorities on Sunday reported 3,531 new COVID-19 cases and 39 deaths in the last 24 hours until Sunday morning.

Former Bangladesh cricket captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza has tested COVID-19 positive.

The Narail-2 MP, who had been busy trying to help people in his area during this time of crisis, took a test on Friday, after suffering from mild fever and sore throat for three days.

The popular cricketer is receiving treatment at his Dhaka residence and he is on isolation. The rest of the family are doing good.

Earlier on 15 June, his mother-in-law and his wife's niece also tested positive in Narail. They are now at the Ibne Sina Hospital in the capital.

Mashrafe is the 14th MP to have been affected by the virus.

On 18 May, he sold his most favourite bracelet at Tk 4.2 million in an online auction for the treatment of COVID-19 patients, UNB adds.

As of Saturday, Bangladesh has reported 108,714 coronavirus cases and 1,425 deaths.

দলে জস বাটলার ও বেন ফোকস উইকেটরক্ষক হিসেবেই আছেন। তাই উইকেটরক্ষক হয়েও স্পেশালিস্ট ব্যাটসম্যান হিসেবে খেলতে হয় জনি বেয়ারস্টোকে। কিন্তু ইংল্যান্ডের টেস্ট দলে উইকেটরক্ষক-ব্যাটসম্যান হিসেবে খেলতে চান বেয়ারস্টো। আগামী মাস থেকে শুরু হওয়া ওয়েস্ট ইন্ডিজের বিপক্ষে তিন ম্যাচের টেস্ট সিরিজে সেই স্বপ্নই দেখছেন তিনি।

বেয়ারস্টো বলেন, ‘আমি উইকেটরক্ষক হিসেবে দায়িত্ব পালনের যোগ্যতা রাখি। কিন্তু ব্যাটসম্যান হিসেবেই খেলতে হচ্ছে। তবে আমি আশা করি, ওয়েস্ট ইন্ডিজের বিপক্ষে টেস্ট সিরিজে উইকেটের পেছনের দায়িত্বও পালন করার সুযোগ পাব।’

পারফরম্যান্সের কারণে ইংল্যান্ড দলে অনিয়মিত হয়ে পড়েছেন বেয়ারস্টো। তাই এই সুযোগে ইংল্যান্ডের উইকেটরক্ষকের দায়িত্ব সামলাচ্ছেন বাটলার বা ফোকস। তবে নির্বাচকদের প্রথম পছন্দ ফোকসই।

গেল বছর নভেম্বরে নিউজিল্যান্ডের বিপক্ষে টেস্ট সিরিজে বাদ পড়েছিলেন বেয়ারস্টো। এ বছরের শুরুতে দক্ষিণ আফ্রিকা সফরে খেলেছিলেন মাত্র একটি ম্যাচ। এরপর চলতি বছরের মার্চে শ্রীলংকা সফরের টেস্ট দলে সুযোগ পাননি বেয়ারস্টো। অবশ্য করোনাভাইরাসের কারণে সিরিজ শুরুর আগেই শ্রীলংকা ত্যাগ করে দেশে ফিরে ইংল্যান্ড।

দীর্ঘদিন পর আবারো আন্তর্জাতিক ক্রিকেট ফিরতে যাচ্ছে। তাই ওয়েস্ট ইন্ডিজের বিপক্ষে সিরিজেই উইকেটরক্ষক হিসেবে খেলতে চান বেয়ারস্টো। তবে বেয়ারস্টোর জন্য তা বেশ কঠিন। তারপরও হাল ছাড়তে নারাজ বেয়ারস্টো।

ভিডিও করফারেন্সে ব্রিটিশ গণমাধ্যমে বেয়ারস্টো বলেন, ‘সময়ের সাথে-সাথে আমি আমার উইকেটকিপিং নিয়ে সন্তুষ্ট হয়েছি। ক্যারিয়ারের শুরুতে সমস্যা ছিল। কিন্তু গেল কয়েক বছর ধরে আমি উইকেটের পেছনে ভালো করে আসছি। আমি পরিসংখ্যানের কথা বলছি। সে হিসেবে আমার পরিসংখ্যান খুবই ভালো। তাই উইকেটরক্ষকের দায়িত্ব পালন করতে না চাওয়ার কোনো কারণ আমি দেখি না।’

বাটলার-ফোকসকে নিজের প্রতিদ্বন্দ্বী ভাবেন না বেয়ারস্টো। তিনি বলেন, ‘বাটলার-ফোকস আমরা সতীর্থ। তাদের সাথে আমার সর্ম্পক বেশ ভালো। দলের জন্য ভালো পারফরম্যান্স করতে আমরা তিনজনই মুখিয়ে আছি। এতে কোনো সন্দেহ নেই। তবে সবকিছুই নির্ভর করছে টিম ম্যানেজমেন্টের উপর। তারা যেভাবে পরিকল্পনা করে, সেভাবেই আমরা এগোবে। তবে উইকেটের পেছনের দায়িত্ব পালন করতে আমি মুখিয়ে আছি।’

গেল আট বছরে ৭০টি টেস্ট ম্যাচ খেলেছেন বেয়ারস্টো। এর মধ্যে ৪৮টি ম্যাচে উইকেটরক্ষক ছিলেন তিনি। সর্বশেষ যে সাত টেস্টে উইকেটরক্ষক হিসেবে খেলেছেন বেয়ারস্টো, সেখানে তার ব্যাটিং পারফরম্যান্স মোটেও ভালো ছিলো না। ওই সাত টেস্টে বেয়ারস্টোর ব্যাটিং গড় ছিল মাত্র ১৮ দশমিক ৫৫।

The US Supreme Court on Thursday dealt president Donald Trump a significant important on his hardline immigration policies, blocking his bid to end a program that protects from deportation many thousands of immigrants - often called "Dreamers" - who entered the us illegally as children.

The ruling doesn't prevent Trump from trying again to end the program. But his administration is unlikely to be able to end DACA before the three November election during which Trump is seeking a second four-year term in office.

"We don't decide whether DACA or its rescission are sound policies. We address only whether the agency complied with the procedural requirement that it provide a reasoned explanation for its action," Roberts wrote.

The ruling marks the second time within the week that Roberts has ruled against Trump during a serious case following Monday's decision finding that gay and transgender workers are protected under federal employment law.

"These horrible & politically charged decisions beginning of the Supreme Court are shotgun blasts into the face of people that are proud to call themselves Republicans or Conservatives," Trump wrote on Twitter after the DACA ruling.

The court's four other conservatives including two Trump appointees, Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh, dissented.

"Today's decision must be recognized for what it is: an effort to avoid a politically controversial but legally correct decision," Justice Clarence Thomas wrote in dissent.

Thomas, whose dissent was joined by Gorsuch and Justice Samuel Alito, said DACA itself was "substantively unlawful."

Trump's administration has argued that Obama exceeded his constitutional powers when he created DACA by executive action, bypassing Congress.

A collection of states including California and ny , people currently enrolled in DACA and civil rights groups all filed suit to dam Trump's plan to end the program. Lower courts in California, ny and thus the District of Columbia ruled against Trump and left DACA in place , finding that his move to revoke the program violated the chief Procedure Act.

The health condition of Gonoshasthaya Kendra (GK) founder Zafrullah Chowdhury has improved because the infections in his lungs have decreased.

“His (Zafrullah’s) condition is now stable with the development in his lung infections,” said Gonoshasthaya Kendra PR officer Forhad Hossain on Thursday.

He said Zafrullah now has no coronavirus infection in his body while bacterial infections also are decreasing.

Forhad said Zafrullah now can breathe normally with none oxygen support.

In a statement on its Facebook page, Gonoshasthaya Kendra said its founder has been taking antibiotics regularly for lung infections alongside having kidney dialysis and specialised physiotherapy for other health problems.

“He finds it difficult to talk thanks to pharyngitis , and doctors advised him to avoid it unless it's urgent.

He is otherwise mentally very energised,” it added.

Zafrullah has been receiving treatment at Gonoshasthaya Nagar Hospital within the city’s Dhanmondi area.

Although he recovered from coronavirus, Zafrullah’s health condition deteriorated on Tuesday thanks to lung infections caused by pneumonia.

On Monday, a RT-PCR test found Zafrullah negative for coronavirus, two days after he got an equivalent results through a test with an antigen kit developed by the Gonoshasthaya Kendra.
