01) PREVENTION:

A) Removal of Tinted Glasses of all the Vehicles, without exception.

B) Enhanced Vigilance by the Police in collaboration with local communities.

C) Rapid Action Forces to be activated in case of any Eve-Teasing, Harassment or any form of Assault on Women, as soon as anyone calls up the universal police control room number of 100.

2) CORRECTION:

a) All forms of Eve-teasing, Harassment or any form of Assault on Women to be made Non-Bailable Office.

b) Fast Track Courts to be established at every District Head Quarters of Each State and as many as required in all Urban Cities, depending on its population densities, while providing for charge-sheeting within 30 Days and the total trial to be completed within 75 Days and the Punishment to be pronounced within 90 Days from the date of filing each Charge-Sheet..

c) Quick Replacement of any Retirees in all Courts.

d) Punishment for Rape must be 50 to 100 Years of which atleast 50 Years to be Rigorous Imprisonment, without any Parole.

e) Finally, there won't be any Governor or Presidential Pardon during Republic Day or any other special day.

Ripening Chemical in ‘Papaya’ gave me a Fractured Ankle!

Surprised?

Yes, for the 1st. time in my 54 Years on this Earth - I had a violent chemical-reaction - manifesting in 'unbearable, whole (Full) body itching'.

I searched causes for this kind of allergic reaction, on the net, but couldn’t find much information as to any home remedy.

And within a couple of hours my blood pressure had dropped to very dangerous levels (sub-70) and if I hadn’t been rushed to a nearby Hospital - Specialists there said - I would’ve died and they further confirmed that there were a few such instances, where people have died without knowing what hit them.

The doctors there, initially, diagnosed it to be a ‘drug-reaction’ and tried to revive me by boosting-up my blood pressure levels with whatever medicines / drugs they should through intravenous injections. On my recovering consciousness, when they were enquiring about what drugs, I had taken that Day, I named the drugs, all of which have been prescription ones and which I have been using for longer periods and insisted that those prescription drugs for which My body is so used to that it is unlikely it could be a ‘drug-reaction’.

The next Day Morning, they started enquiring of what food I had the previous Evening to which I replied ‘Papaya’. The Sr. Physician there advised me that I should desist from taking ‘Papaya’ as it’s giving me violent allergic reaction.

Well, I had taken Papaya scores of times and it never gave me any kind of allergy, earlier and wondered how it, suddenly, started to give me ‘reaction’. Then, I recalled having read and seen ‘expose’ of unscrupulous fruit & vegetable vendors using dangerous chemicals to ripen them, though I couldn’t recall the names of any.

Finally, the Doctors concluded that it must be ‘Chemical-Reaction’ that went into my stomach through ‘Papaya’.

It all started with my taking - on Friday Last (September 28, 2012) - a small bowlful of Papaya pieces and within 5 minutes, I had that violent chemical-reaction. After trying to find some cause & probable home-remedy for my condition, I went to toilet and I lost my consciousness and with it my balance that I fell on the ground with a twisted right ankle.

My right ankle has been casted in accordingly and I’ve been discharged the next Day, after instructing me to stop putting any weight (my body-weight) on my Right Feet (Ankle), take the prescribed medicines and also do some physiotherapy exercises, for six Weeks before I visit them for inspection to remove the casting on my feet.

The next Day after my discharge from the Hospital, I searched, this time round for ‘fruit ripening chemicals’ and I found out that Calcium Carbide is extensively used for ripening most fruit which may also contain “arsenic and phosphorous” which make the fruit poisonous and less tasty.

And also that it costs only Rs. 60/- per Kilogram and only around 100 Grams is used to ripen, artificially, 50 Kilograms of Fruit.

Usage of ‘Calcium Carbide’ for fruit ripening is banned in most countries including in India.

Either with the help of our lethargic & / or corrupt ‘Food Safety Enforcers’, the deceitful fruit traders are poisoning so many innocent people some of whom could be infants, the weak, old or those convalescing from some ailment, with this banned Chemical or they must be using some other toxic chemical for the same purpose.

No Wonder, people would want to go back in History where everything is grown through natural processes only and never used any artificial, especially of the Inorganic type contamination.

WHO SAYS ‘WALMART’ WOULD BRING HAPPINESS TO ALL?

At the cost of being branded as an alarmist or a mad-person with phobias or even as a lackey of some vested interests, I wish to predict the scenario 10 Years from now, with FDI in Retail Sector, based on the Historical Data.

According to the ‘World Bank- Global Development Finance Report 2009’^[1]Educational Qualifications of Organised Retail Sector are – mostly computer savvy – 56% of Undergraduates, 36% of Graduates & 8% of Post-Graduates.

If Walmart succeeds the way it did in Mexico – capturing as much as 62%, in the first 15 Years (since 1997)^[2] – assuming our Retail market stagnates at the current level of only Rs. 21,34,400/- Crores of Sales with 12 Lakh businesses – owned by individuals of Families that employ as many as 4 Crores of mostly Computer-illiterate, School Drop-outs – It would displace, like it did in Mexico – around 7 Lakh businesses and would employ just over 13 Lakh Undergraduates, Graduates & Post Graduates, with a Sales of around Rs. 13,23,328/- Crores – after disemploying as many as 3,86,76,672.

01) Who says FDI in Retail Sector, with the likes of unscrupulous Walmart^[3] entering Indian Retail Sector would create jobs and not take away them?

Much larger studies concluded that the Prices of Supermarkets in Latin America, Africa & Asia have remained higher, by 20%-30%, than those of the open Markets.

02) Why anybody should peddle canards of ‘the Prices at Large-Format Retail Outlets’ would be Cheaper to the Consumer??

In USA, the birth-place of “Walmart” and several other Large-Format Retail Outlets, their Government has been subsidizing its Farmers to the tune of US$ 60/- Billions a Year!

03) What is the logic or motivation^[4] behind spreading rumours about Farmers Getting better prices???

Skewed Socio Economic Policies are the Root-Cause of our Fiscal Deficit!

Subsidy Defined & Re-Defined:

· MONEY paid, usually by GOVERNMENT, to keep PRICES below what they would be in a free market, or to keep alive businesses that would otherwise go bust, or to make activities happen that otherwise would not take place.

· Subsidies can be a form of PROTECTIONISM by making domestic goods and SERVICES artificially competitive against IMPORTS.

· By distorting markets, they can impose large economic costs.

While the above being the true definition of ‘Dry-Economics’, in the contexts of “Socio-Economics of a Welfare State”, its an Interventional Instrument of Government to enable those who cannot, otherwise, meet their ‘Basic-Needs’ – on account of Economic-Poverty.

As to the definition of ‘Basic-Needs’ there cannot be any differing opinions.

They are,

* Potable Water,

* Nutritious Food,

* Clothing,

* Shelter,

* Primary Health & Education,

* Equal Employment Opportunities, &

* Economic Security to the ‘Challenged, Old and Infirm.

Under no stretch of imagination, anyone, in his right sense can include the following to the above list:

Ø Expensive & highly Polluting Cars owned by individuals, families or organisations that are used for personal transportation;

Ø Diesel Power Generators used to protect the occupants from the discomfort on account of power cuts;

Ø Manufacturing, Service Providing or Infrastructure, for profit, using highly polluting fuels.

I) Case of Subsidized Diesel:

§ He has confessed that much of the (subsidised) diesel is used by big cars and SUVs “owned by the rich and by factories and businesses”, acceding to the last highlighted point of the above list;

§ Demonstrated ‘Zero’ inclination in plugging-up any of the above “Leakages”; and

§ Still resolved to extend a subsidy of as much as Rs. 17.50/- per liter on diesel – that can be used indiscriminately, by anyone for any purpose.

Who Deserves Subsidized Diesel?

* 3-Wheelers & 4-Wheelers which ply mini-mass Passenger & Cargo;

* Railways which undertake the mass-rapid transport of Passenger & Cargo;

* Road Transport Corporations which undertake the mass-rapid transport of Parcels & Passengers;

* Individual Farmers who need to irrigate their fields from ground-water;

* Farming Vehicles & other Equipments, if any, used for Agricultural Works & Public Works;

* Municipal or local community Water boards for running their stand-by diesel generating sets to pump potable water, during power-cuts;

* Hospitals, Old-Age Homes, Orphanages & Schools for running their stand-by diesel generating sets, during power-cuts; and

* Any other deserving entities, not listed above, for genuine purpose.

If Dr. MMS could show some resolve to plug the above leakages he could save at least Rs. 23,000/- Crores – on Diesel Subsidy alone.

II) Case of Subsidized LPG:

Dr. MMS declares, based on a study, that “almost half of our people, who need our (Govt.’s), actually use only 6 cylinders (a Year) or less.”

And only that approximately 50% of all the LPG Connection Holders, truly, deserve subsidized LPG and none else – in true spirit of a ‘Welfare-State’.

In our Homes we consume, steadily, 12 cylinders, a Year if not more, because we prepare three meals a Day, not to speak of preparation of Tea - Twice a Day as well as heating water for bathing purposes at least once a Day and sometimes more.

Based on the above and my own observation of the issue for the last few Decades, I confirm that the above statement-of-fact to be true as those, who struggle to meet their basic-needs are too busy chasing and working for their daily wage that they hardly cook twice a Day and also never use LPG for heating water for bathing purpose.

Granting him that the above to be true, he failed to give us any vision or plan to plug the leakage on account of as much as 57.50 Million Connection Holders.

By slashing-down subsidy to ‘Zero%’ on all undeserving LPG Connections, the Government would enable OMCs (Oil Manufacturing Companies) earn – after providing subsidized LPG to 50% of the above deserving lot @Rs. 450/- per cylinder (for 6 cylinders a Year) and by charging from the rest @Rs. 750/- per cylinder (for 12 cylinders a Year) – as much as Rs. 36,225/- Crores a Year on LPG Marketing alone!

This also means, GoI reducing its subsidy burden on LPG by Rs. 36,225/- a Year.

Let not Dr. Singh come to us cribbing about Current Fiscal Deficit threatening our National Economy and show the ‘Bhooth’ of failed Western Economies – most of which have lived-off, for too long, on borrowed credit and are now unwilling to make those essential sacrifices to return to realistic and sustainable economy.

The Home-Gardening:-

v Different types of Roof-Gardening have been done since ages, but most of them were based on Fruit & Vegetable Farming on Roof-Tops, using the traditional water guzzling methods, with a belief that water lasts for ever;

v And it is generally based on Chemical based Fertilisers, Pesticides, Weedicides, etc..

v Some spaces are filled with exclusively ‘Troughs’ and the other with exclusively ‘Pots’ – with standard sizes, thus failing to use optimum utilisation of all un-used spaces.

v Further, they do not consider using unused balcony-spaces and corners of the lower-floors.

v More water is wasted due to vaporization than the amount actually consumed by plants.

The Organic Vegetable Gardening:-

GTI Garland-Technique differs, with the above practice in,

ü Drip-Irrigation: Using a combination of Pots & Troughs (specially made-to-order, after freezing the lay-out, interconnected with 5 mm drip-pipe: of a material which is flexible enough to be bent, anywhere we require, without choking on itself and hard enough to take the load of the soil - from Roof-Top to Cellar / Ground-floor, drawing water all the way from the Roof-Mounted Water-Tank, with adjustable valves, strategically placed, for cut-off & cut-on, through the drip-holes, to be drilled, which number again is dependant on the size of the Pot / Trough.

ü Garland-Technique: The Drip-Pipe itself is garlanded among the Pots / Troughs at Two Inches from the bottom of them to ensure water goes up to the plant roots, whereby drastically reducing vaporization losses, due to very less contact with the atmosphere above the surface of the earth in the Pot / Trough.

ü 100% Organic: Uses only Organic Fertilisers / nutrients & Insecticides / weedicides, none of which even if they go into our food would ever do any form of harm to our health.

ü Optimum Utilisation of all unused spaces, right from the Roof to the Ground / Cellar, without obstructing the Pedestrian / Vehicular Traffic or Parking Convenience.

ü Fit & Forget: Can be tended by a trained Gardner, at a very nominal cost OR if the owner loves Gardening, nothing like it!

“Green Buildings need not be Expensive at all”

Case Study: The World’s First USGBC-LEED Certified ‘Passenger Terminal Building (PTB)’ of any International Airport, as of Year 2008.

A) Objective: Reduction of Indoor Heat Gain.

Techniques Deployed:

i) Insulated Roof (100%);

ii) High Performance Glazing & Skylights, that block the entry of 99+ % of Solar Heat into indoors;

iii) Instant Evacuation of Human Exhaled Heat (CO₂), with the help of ceiling-level sensors’-activated evacuation valves and simultaneous pumping-in of conditioned air (O₂);

B) Objective: Avoidance and / or drastic reduction of Artificial Lighting, during the Day-Time.

Techniques Deployed:

i) High Performance Glazing & Skylights (as mentioned above), that permits 98+% Solar Light, inside on most of the days, between Sun-Rise to Sun-Set, the intensity-level of this Solar-Light is more than sufficient, even for reading small print.

ii) And when it is darker due to extreme cloudiness, again, activation of Artificial Lighting, only to augment the overall loss levels of Solar Light intensity, achieved through controlled lighting, through accurate calculation in terms of ‘Lumens’.

C) Objective: Reduction of Volume of ‘Conditioned Air’, without compromising the comfort of the occupants, at any point-of-time (in this case the Passengers, Staff & Others, if any).

Techniques Deployed:

i) Instant augmentation of the ‘Conditioned Air’, indoors, through Variable Air Volumes (VAVs) – which quantum is defined by the variable number of occupants, in place of the traditional HVAC System, that continues to pump-in a fixed quantity of ‘Conditioned Air’, irrespective of the number of occupants, at that point-of-time.

D) Objective: Water Reduction.

Techniques Deployed:

i) Deployment of Sensor Operated Urinals & Water Efficient Fixtures, sprinklers & Drip-Irrigation Systems – at all places.

With this design, the Tonnage as defined for a Conventional PTB of an Intl. Airport of 12 Million Passengers, p.a., as per the Intl. Aviation Norms has been reduced by roughly 35% thus, reducing the cost of the Central A/C Plant, which also happened to be the biggest Capital Component of all the MEP Equipment.

Then, the saved capital cost on HVAC has been prudently invested in all above Energy Saving Features, with zero escalation in the already frozen budget.

The name of the project is, “Rajiv Gandhi International Airport”, owned & operated by GMR Hyderabad Intl. Airport Ltd. (http://www.hyderabad.aero/about-us.aspx) – which was commissioned on March 14, 2008 and this project was certified as LEED-NC Silver Rated Project by USGBC.

And that also happened to be the only ‘Green Building / LEED Project’ that incurred zero additional costs over and above the planned conventional costs, as of that date and to-date too, to the best of my knowledge.

I was not, in any way, responsible for the above accomplishment but only the Project Manger - Incharge for LEED (Documentation), CDM & Renewables Planning for the site comprising 5,400 Acres, while the PTB was / is of 12,59,378 SFT.

The Owners, GMR Group wanted a LEED Rated Building without incurring One Rupee more than the frozen budget of Rs. 2,500/- Crores (in Year, 2003).

The entire credit for the above accomplishment goes to ARUP, IDA, Aviaplan / STUP, but I had been the only ‘Devout Student’ of this rich accomplishment, while all my colleagues – seniors as well as juniors have been happy adding LEED experience in their resumes, without having an iota of the above knowledge of how a LEED Certified, Green Building was built, without incurring any extra costs. To boot, none of them took-up any assignment that is remotely connected to Green Buildings, later.

In those Years (2007 & 2008), I began to believe that “Green Buildings need not be Prohibitively Expensive” and Today, after half a dozen projects of my own, I believe that “Green Buildings need not be Expensive at all”, with a full knowledge that only recently two big LEED-NC projects have been certified by IGBC, which incurred only 2% extra cost over and above the conventional construction costs.

Even, if I am asked to do such projects, with some pre-conceived notions on the ‘Design’, I too might incur such additional expenditure. If, otherwise, we all can give 100% Green Building, Certifiable by any G.B.C..

My confidence is born out of my deep study of the pre-RCC+HVAC era building construction Methods and now, we can build almost any project, 100% Green through an 'Integrated Green Building Design & Comprehensive Micro-Climate Management Plan' for any building of housing, factory, farm-house, resorts, et al and may be Malls, Offices, etc. – that would meet all the parameters expected of a “Green Building” as well as give you the required ‘Certification’ under any Green Building Council, if that is so important to the client – with zero escalation on their planned construction costs of a so-called 'conventional building', provided they approach the ‘Design’ with "completely open-mind".

Yes, these ‘Green Buildings’ too like, any others are designed to be Eco-Responsive, Conserves / Uses Less Water & Power, Uses Sewage Water too, Ample Day-Lighting in all regularly occupied spaces, with ‘Comfortable, Cozy, Cool & Clean Indoor Environment, Consumes Organic Wastes, and with many more pleasant features.

01) Prayer to Mars (known in Sanskrit as Mangala, Kuja, Angaraka, Chiava & “Bhumi Putra” (Son of Earth).

Original Sanskrit Stotra: Dharani-garbha-sambhutam vidyut kanti-samaprabha Kumaram shakti-hastam ca mangalam pranamamy aham!

When translated in English, it means:

"I offer my obeisance to Shree Mangala, the god of the planet Mars, who was born from the womb of the earth goddess. His brilliant effulgence is like that of lightning, and he appears as a youth carrying a spear in his hand."

Latest pictures taken of the surface of mars suggest similarities between Earth and Mars.

If Tomorrow the World’s Astronomical Community concludes that, in fact, that the Mars emerged from the Earth, it wouldn’t surprise Indians as, the same has been believed by Ancient Indians, for Millennia!

02) ‘Nuclear War Heads’ mounted onto Missiles were used during Kurukshetra???

To say that the ‘Nuclear War Heads’ mounted onto Missiles were used during the great war of Mahabharata (6,000 BCE to 500 BCE) – which was said to have happened in South Asian Sub-Continent – in Kurukshetra in the present day Haryana could very well give us some geological evidence at these areas, especially, as we are in an era when we could confirm the similarities between the terrains of the Earth and Mars.

v Part of those above 18 Akshauhinis said to have come from as far as the Kingdom of ‘Kamarupa’, the present-day Guwahati in Lower Assam, from a distance of 1,923 Kilometers, that was, when there were no highways or any kind of built roads, between these cities, which just proves that there had been adequate notice to all participants, from several parts of West, North, East and North-Eastern India to converge at Kurukshetra before the appointed date, when the actual war was said to have taken place in a small area called Kurukshetra.

v If indeed, as being propounded by some over-enthusiastic fanatics, ‘Nuclear War Heads’ mounted onto Missiles were really used by both the parties in that war, the entire armed forces and all animals involved on both sides: – amounting to a minimum Total Men of 47,23,920 numbers including infantry men, chariots of 3,93,660 numbers, elephants 3,93,660 numbers and cavalry 11,80,980 numbers would have been completely wiped out, with no Victors at all while there would have been big hole in place of what is believed to be Today’s Kurukshetra.

v Though there were some archeological evidence as to the happening of such a large-scale war so far, no evidence has come up as to the usage of ‘Nuclear War Heads’ mounted onto Missiles, by either party during that war.

v In trying to prove the supremacy of the Ancient Indian Wisdom, if anybody propounds illogical occurrences, it would boomerang on our faces and it is also counter-productive in understanding the true wisdom of our ancestors.

Dear Gen. Singh,

This refers to your interview to Ms. Vidya Subrahmaniam of 'The Hindu' Daily, a appeared in its Today (Monday, the March 26, 2012) alleging that some Arms dealers were offering bribes for getting orders for faulty equipment, which you refused to accept into Indian Army.

You also said several FIRs have been filed against some of the alleged culprits but, why none of them came onto the public domain.

Further, accordingly to the Head-Line of 'The Hindu' you exploded a bomb stating that one of these men (lobbyist) has walked upto to you and has offered you Rs. 14.00/- Crores - for accepting 600 sub-standard vehicles of a particular make, which you refused and also that you went straight to Mr. Antony and reported the matter.

Please realise that you are not a Primary School Teacher to report on a mischievous kid-student to your Head Master and washing off your hands of the matter and wait for Ms. Vidya from media to come to break this news.

I need not imagine what shock you underwent when that incident happened as I know, if you walk up to an upright Civil Servant or a Police Officer of an Defence Officer and offer some bribe, the first thing they would do to me is to order my detention, then and there and call the Police of the Jurisdiction (Military or Civilian) and arrange to file an FIR from his / her office, with due official release to the media and general public.

BY REFUSING A BRIBE YOU HAVE NOT DONE ANY SPECIAL FAVOUR TO THE NATION, WHICH IS WELL WITHIN YOU 'CALL-OF-DUTY'. And for that you don't deserve any additional medals or honours.

But by not arranging to detain that lobbyist and arrange his immediate prosecution, you have done a great dis-service to the Nation.

If somebody has the gumption (am using your own word) to approach you (The Chief of Indian Army Staff) and offer you such an amount as bribe for a Quid Quo Pro, I believe it is only a tip of the ice-berg and you failed the nation by not doing your responsibility which is well withing Your 'Call-of-Duty.

Your Today's exposure only gave some fodder to the Media and the Opposition Parties in Parliament but not has given any wisdom to them to question the rot in the system on which my country depend for its Security.

I wish to God that some public-spirited Individual or an NGO, with requisite means to approach appropriate Court for a 'Writ of Mandamus' to the appropriate authority for a full-scale investigation under its direct supervision as well as to prosecute you for your "Omission-of-Duty".

Or even better the 'Supreme Court of India' take a 'suo motu' cognizance of your above 'Dis-Service" to the Nation and order your prosecution for the above 'Crime'.

I request the readers of this blog-post to forward this to the appropriate entities, for corrective actions.

The Hindu's touting "Mortein NaturGard" of Reckitt Benckiser (India) Ltd, as 'Safe Killer' (of Mosquitoes), in Monday, the March 05, 2012, 'BUYLINES" Coloumn of 'METROPLUS" of this Daily News Paper appear to be a paid-news.

While touting it as 'SAFE", this misleadingly named "Mortein NaturGard" not only contains just only an infinitesimal fraction of a percent of 'Citronellal' but also a host of harmful chemicals.

The actual chemical composition is, Transfluthrin (1.6, w/w%), Stabilizer (BHT: BUTYLATED HYDROXYTOLUENE) (1.0%, w/w), Deodorised Kerosene (96.4%), Perfume (1.0%, w/w) – This 'Perfume' is declared to contain a mixture of a number of aroma chemicals like Benzyl, Acetol, Citronellal (an extract of Lemon Grass / Citronellol - only a very small fraction of this one percent), Dimethyl, Octadiene, etc.. While Transfluthrin is a known Toxin, all others listed including those of 'Perfume' do have ill Health-Effects on Humans & Animals], Deodorised Kerosene (96.4%): totalling 100%.

Some of the known side-effects of these include extensive spread of ‘Respiratory Diseases’ not to speak of brain cancer, blood cancer, kidney failures, etc., especially among the infants, old people, pregnant women and those who are, generally, with weak immunity system or convalescing from some or other disease.

I am giving below a table containing the actual chemical composition of "Mortein NatureGard" of 'Reckitt Benckister' as published on its package:

I confirm, my extensive research on 'Mosquito Repellents' of different forms available, currently in the market has not yielded a single safe formulation that is absolutely safe, though unscrupulous marketers try to promote some of their goods as such.

Your recent Ill-Advise at a seminar, to some students and sadhvis of Jaipur (Rajastan): "Don't be offended if someone says ‘sexy’, rather take it positively" is not only highly offensive and insulting to the womenfolk, whom we respect, in India and most parts of the World.

According to http://thesaurus.com/browse/Sexy 'Sexy" means being erotically attractive to another and its Synonyms are,

Arousing, Come-hither, Cuddly, Flirtatious, Hot*, Inviting, Kissable, Libidinous, Provocative, Provoking, Racy, Risqué, Seductive, Sensual, Sensuous, Slinky, Spicy*, Steamy, Suggestive, Titillating & Voluptuous.

None of the above is ever used to praise a women; “Sexy” just means “Sexy” Only, nothing more and nothing less. “Sexy” doesn't mean ‘Charming’, ‘Beautiful’ ‘Attractive’, et al and it just means “Sexy” in any culture and in any lingo it is said.

Though, I myself do have some different words to refer to the 'Beauty' of 'an Automobile' or 'a Building' or 'a Garden' or anything, I have heard people calling them “Sexy”, which is acceptable.

But to call a Woman is outraging her modesty, which is a criminal offence and can be prosecutable as such, unless the offender is already not lynched by the passers-by.

No Self-Respecting Lady would want to bet commented upon as "Sexy" unless she is in a profession where it help enhance her prospects.

No doubt you need to improve your language & inter-personal skills.

I define the “Disruptive Eco-Solution”, below, as any process and / or product that meets the following criteria:-

Ø Should be as effective as the products / processes of existing, alternative ‘Environmentally-Unfriendly Technologies’.

Ø 'Safe-to-Human Health', meaning giving nil Ill-Health Effects, what-so-ever, to the Consumers, on usage.

Ø 'Cost-Efficient', meaning it should be equal or cheaper than the Toxic Alternatives, available in the market.

Ø 'Ecologically-Responsible', meaning the product, the process, the inputs and the outputs during processing, storing, transportation, usage and post-usage (full life-cycle) should cause no or least damage to the Environment, as apposed to the alternative chemical processes and / or product/s.

Ø Should Aid and Sustain the Cleaner Environment Objective of the World.

Ø Should be able to ‘Displace’ the harmful alternatives, in all senses than One.

Prallethrin is one of a class of synthetic chemicals, called pyrethroids, that are derived from natural chemicals found in chrysanthemums. It is listed by the European Union as an endocrine disruptor. Pyrthroids are known to be very toxic to cats and owners should be cautioned against using them if cats are present in the home.

'Goodknight’ brand of mosquito coils contain Prallethrin 0.05%, w/w, 'Mortein' brand of mosquito coils contain d-Allethrin 0.20% w/w, 'Jet' Brand Mosquito coils contain 0.10% w/w of d-trans Allethrin (a.i.), 'Allout', 'Tortoise' et al brands of mosquito coils contain something or other chemical, which all have been certified to be safe to humans, save for eye-contact, some times skin allergies, etc. etc. And the same branded Mats & Liquids too contain the above chemicals.

As for the efficacy of these products against mosquitoes, one only has to browse (the consumers’ opinions on them @ http://www.mouthshut.com/product-reviews/)

So far, no manufacturer or independent research-body has conducted any study on the intense inhalation of the fumes of these mats, liquids or the smoke of the burnt coils for an exposure between 8 to 10 hours in a closed room, which is the case when we wish to drive out as well as prevent the re-entry of mosquitoes into our bedrooms & drawing rooms.

It is observed, by one and all, that the fumes may or may not drive away mosquitoes completely (as the efficacy solely depends on the season, ambient temperature & the intensity of hunger-pangs of the mosquitoes of that moment) but, noted to have been giving ‘Chronic Respiratory Diseases’ especially to the infants, elderly people, women & those convalescing from a deceases, et al. No concrete study has been made on whether these respiratory ailments or reversible or not or on the long-term damage to our lungs.

It seems we are victimising ourselves trying to protect ourselves from ‘mosquito-borne diseases’, by acquiring ‘respiratory & others diseases’ with constantly inhaling harmful chemical fumes & smoke for 8 to 10 hours a day, in closed-door environment.

Insect-Menace, especially that from Mosquitoes has not been new to the humans but, what are new are the modern-day chemical solutions being marketed as panacea to this ancient problem. Insect Repellents of Natural Sources, with nil ill-effects on human health have been as old as the coexistence of humans with insects, among all cultures, based on what was naturally grown in that Agro-climatic Zone, to which that culture belonged. However, most of these natural solutions to the insects have been systematically displaced with harmful, chemical based solutions, over a period of time, by the blindingly greedy Corporates, with aggressive campaigns and specious arguments against the usage of natural solutions.

I know, for sure, any extract, leave, stem, root, etc. of “Tulsi” (Sweet Basil (Ocimum basilicum), not only drive away mosquitos & other insects but also doesn’t give any form ill-effects to the health of humans. In fact ‘Tulsi’ is, successfully, cross-cropped along with vegetables, fruit, etc. to protect them from insect attacks.

I wish to urge you all to think in terms of coming out with “disruptive Solutions’ based on the essential oils as well as of the leaves, flowers, stems, roots, etc. of the above to displace harmful, chemical based mosquito repellents.
