Abercrombie and Fitch

Why Would You Shop There?

I have been a blogger for Chat Me More for two years and never would write about controversial subjects until now. I find the CEO Mike Jeffries a disgrace to mankind. His remarks are offensive and down right rude. He stated, "he hates fat chicks and they are not privileged to wear Abercrombie Fitch," and they only carry women's sizes in 10. Since when is anything over 10 considered FAT. I am a size 4 to 6 and I would never step into the store and I do hope everyone does the same. If you own any of their clothing you should do this. A Bridge Collapses

A big rig carrying a heavy load on Interstate 5, in Washington State between Seattle and Canada smashed into the span of the bridge causing part of the bridge to collapse. Two vehicles went crashing into the Skagit River. This route is heavily traveled 71,000 vehicles per day and only 2 cars fell into the water. Dan Sligh and his wife driving a pick-up truck were dumped into the freezing waters of the Skagit River. Sligh dislocated his shoulder and had to put it back into place to rescue his wife and they both made it to the top of their car as they waited for help. Once they made it to the top of their truck they noticed there was another man sitting on top of his car. Boats came to their rescue and they were brought to the hospital and are doing fine. A miracle Sligh said "that only three people fell into the water without severe injury."

The Cicadas are Coming

2013-05-08T04:08:00.000-07:00

Cicadas Only Appear Every 17 Years

The cicadas are insects that are an inch long with a black body, red eyes and wings. They have been thriving underground and last seen in, 1996. The off springs known as Brood 2 will appear in May and will die off in June. They come above ground to mate and sing quite loudly to attract females. The cicada nymphs climb trees and shed their skins. The females lay their eggs in branches of trees. Males die after mating and all adults will die within in 4 weeks. Females lay 400-600 eggs. The population of these insects will be huge and parts of the east coast will see them everywhere, on the ground in trees and even around the house. They are harmless, but noisy.

In San Jose California an Employee Chases a Woman who Leaves Tainted Orange Juice

Ramineh Behehanian, a 50-year-old chemist, who works for Johnson & Johnson's pharmaceutical was arrested for leaving tainted bottles of orange juice at a Starbucks store in San Jose, California. A customer at Starbucks informed an employee that a woman switched orange juice bottles from the shelve with bottles that she possessed. Behnehanian over heard the conversation and fled from the store. The employee followed her and was able to write down her license plate number. San Jose fire department examined the bottles and they confirmed that there was toxic material in them. Do Expect Major Delays at the Airport

Furloughs that will affect air traffic controllers are part of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) budget cuts. Delays are expected to be up to 90 minutes at the airports. Employees will lose a paid day bi-weekly. Not only will there be delays, but risking passengers safety is a concern. Air traffic controllers are forced to work less days and this will cause delays and even cancellation of flights. Los Angeles International did encounter 3 hours and 7 minute delays on Sunday evening.

Bird Flu

Bird Flu Cases in China are Rising

I wrote about this in Weekly Medical Tips, but it seems that the numbers are rising so I thought I would write about it in What's in The News Today. The number of people who have been infected from H7N9 are reaching epidemic levels. The death toll is up to 14 and 63 are known to have it. A 77- year-old woman died on Sunday from the virus. A 7-year-old child from Beijing was diagnosed with the virus on Saturday. The strain of the bird flu is spreading throughout China and possibly only a plane ride away from the U.S. The strain does not affect the birds, but they are the host that transmits the virus to humans. The flu has not yet been confirmed if it could spread from human to human or only direct contact with the bird.

A Lost Dog is Found 8 Months Later

An Italian Greyhound, Dauz, escaped his backyard in Collinsville, IL, on July 20, 2012. He left his family devastated. Dauz's family searched throughout the area, posted photos on Facebook, Craigslist and checked all the shelters and Greyhound rescues, but nothing. Lilian the 6-year-old owner cried every evening for Dauz. Then the miracle occurred when Alicia, Lilian's mother received a call eight months later from a Virginia animal shelter, 900 miles away that they had Dauz. He was chipped and that allowed for the shelter to locate his owners. Alicia went to Lilian's school to share the wonderful news with her daughter.

Dauz is back with his family healthy and happy.

A Dentist has Exposed 7,000 Patients to Several Diseases

Dr. Wayne Harrington an oral surgeon in Tulsa, OKlahoma, has done the unthinkable "re-used instruments on his patients." He treated high risked patients that were known to have HIV, Hepatitis C and B. The unfortunate news is he also treated patients that didn't have any of the above diseases. Not only did Dr. Harrington re-use syringes, but his instruments were rusted from the bleach he used to clean them. Instruments need to be cleaned in sterilant/disinfectant and then in an Autoclave.

Do make sure your dentist is properly sterilizing the instruments that will be used during your visit. They should come out of a Autoclave sleeve and should be sealed and opened in front of you.

Amanda Knox is Back in the News

If you recall in my past post that Amanda Knox and her boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito were accused of killing Amanda's roommate. Amanda was studying abroad in Perugia, Italy when her roommate Meredith Kerscher was brutally murdered in 2007. Amanda and Raffaele were accused of the crime and spent four years in jail. They were both released in 201, in an appeal, due to not having enough evidence. The Italy Supreme Court overturned Amanda's appeal and wants a new trial. This would mean that Amanda may have to stand trail again and wouldn't be able sue for wrongful imprisonment. Amanda's parents spent a lot of money to get Amanda freed. Meredith Kercher's parents want answers about their daughter's death. The Kercher family was upset when Amanda and Raffaele were set free and many in Italy believe that they are guilty of the horrific crime.

A 13 Month Baby Boy is Shot and Killed During a Robbery

in Georgia

Sherry West, the mother of the child, Antonio, stated " she was approached by two teenagers that demanded money at gun point, which she claimed she didn't have, but they insisted she did," and then exclaimed "do you want us to shoot your baby?" They shot four rounds and one of them grazed her ear then hit her in the leg. They walked around the stroller fatally shooting baby Antonio in the face. They pushed Sherry out of their way as she was screaming and ran off. One of the suspects was 14-years-old and is being charged as a juvenile and his name is being withheld. The other suspect is 17-year-old De'Marquis Elkins and is being charged as an adult with first degree murder.

Sherry also said "she lost another child Shaun Glassey of 18-years-old in March, 2008." He was killed during an attempt of ambushing another teenager, but the 17-year-old was able to take the knife from Shaun and killed him with it. The 17-year-old was not charged, due to it being in self defense that the murder occurred.

A Mother is Shocked When Hidden Cameras Uncover Her

Son Being abused

Kathy Coleman is the mother of Cameron who is 31-years-old. Cameron is autistic and non-verbal and has the mental capacity of a 3-year-old. Kathy and her husband were getting too old to provide adequate care for her son so they thought that a 24-hour-in home care would be the best option. Jay Nolan Community Services, in Mission Hills, Ca aided in finding the care for Cameron. Kathy began to notice bruises on Cameron's body and immediately spoke with management and they stated "they didn't know." The bruises were getting worse so the Coleman's installed hidden cameras and what they uncovered was horrific. The caretaker taking care of Cameron kicked him in the face while on the toilet, then kicked him on the floor, hit him with a towel and then spat in his face. Another video showed a different caretaker pointing a pellet gun in Cameron's face while a female staffer watched.

When the Coleman's told management that they have proof of the abuse management went to Cameron's private residence and began to destroy the cameras and evidence. One of the workers were arrested and more arrests are pending.

This change occurred when the UN (United Nations) placed stricter sanctions against N. Korea for nuclear testing on February 12, 2013, and S. Korea was joining a U.S. anti-proliferation plan. Which, seemed to infuriate N. Korea, who then cut off communication through phone links with S. Korea.
