Our new little addition to the family

2011-07-19T09:00:00.002-04:00

My wife and I have been pretty busy these past couple of days bringing the latest addition to our family into the world. On July 14th at 11:54 AM we brought our beautiful little Caydence into the world.

4th of July from the top of our house

2011-07-05T07:04:00.003-04:00

Its that time of year again and you know it by the sights, sounds and smells in the air. Burnt hot dogs and inconsiderate neighbors lighting off fireworks in the middle of the night.Thats right its 4th of July time. Our 4th was laid back this year with my wife due with our second daughter any day now so we stayed home and lit the ole BBQ and colored the sky ourselves. Afterwards we hopped up on to the roof to get a better view, witch getting up was an adventure in itself. Now I will ride the biggest, baddest, tallest, and fastest roller coasters on this planet but climbing up a 10ft latter to get up on our roof was an adventure in itself. Here are some of the pictures I was able to get. It was great practice testing out the new camera and a learning experience for sure. Enjoy!

1st photo shoot staring Darth Maul Donald Duck

2011-07-03T22:47:00.002-04:00

The first test of my photo taking abilities with none other than Donald "Darth Maul" Duck as the subject. I rigged up a generic "light box" at home, and I use the phrase light box very loosely. With inadequate lightning I snapped away. Over time I would like to invest in better lighting but for now I must make due with what I have. Again some I have adjusted the exposure using the iPhone Photoshop app but for the most part left them alone. Enjoy and let me know what you think!

Random Photos

2011-07-03T08:50:00.000-04:00

Today's post is all about random pictures that I have taken and experimented with over the past week with the new camera. The first picture is the original photo that I took with the camera and the second picture is after I edited. For editing purposes I used the mobile app version on Photoshop on my iPhone 4. Its a great little app that has just has the basic functions.

Her 1st toothy brushing

2011-06-30T20:35:00.000-04:00

Today was another milestone day for our daughter, her first experience with brushing her teeth. To our surprise she actually enjoyed brushing her teeth and took it like a champ, even cracking a smile. Must have felt good on her gums also with all the teething going on. The beginning of a good habit = )

Little Pumpkin

2011-06-27T07:22:00.003-04:00

My favorite picture so far of our little one. Im really starting to dig this new photography hobby that I have just got the bug for. It amazing how having a decent camera will spark that picture taking flame. I do not pretend to be a professional photographer by any means, im just a nerd with a nice camera just messing around to see what decent pictures I can accidentally capture.

New Camera

2011-06-24T00:07:00.003-04:00

This past week Jenn and I took the plunge and dove in the world of our very first DSLR camera. I must say so far I am very very impressed with how great the pictures have been coming out thus far and with a little help from some post production programs the pictures come out that much better.

The Sony DSLR A390 is what we chose and so far it is a great entry level DSLR camera. As for the editing I have been uploading the picture onto my iPhone and editing them using the mobile version of Photoshop. Nice little app with basic features. I plan to dive into some other tools here in the future.

This is the original picture shot with the new camera of Cassidy and Jenn playing in her new house.

This photo it edited on my IPhone using the mobile version on Photoshop.

This one also was edited on the app version of photoshop. Look at that smile. : ) Might have added a little too much blur in this one but trial and error is what its all about.

Pretty iPhone! Managed to get this shot just sitting on the couch messing with settings.

The original of Cassidy and Uncle Scuba Steve.

The edited version, which im not super excited about.

Cassidy playing in water unedited.

The original of Cassidy eating a piece of string cheese in her high chair.

The edited version.

Not to bad so far for our first time using a camera of this caliber along with the editing software.

Cassidy Taking A Stroll!

2011-06-02T14:12:00.000-04:00

What do you get when you mix bribing a baby with a potato chip? This!!! We used a little motivation to get our scooter to walk across the living room and boy did it work. Up until this point she has little spurts of walking a few steps unassisted but not today. Upon further ado I present Cassidy taking a stroll!

Experiment 2 - Baby + Chocolate

2011-06-01T20:50:00.001-04:00

Todays experiment we give our subject another foreign food item to get her reaction. Will this experiment succeed or will it fail miserably?!?!? What is this new mystery item you ask? It is non other then CHOCOLATE! No woman no matter what age can resist it's magic powers. Even the strongest eventually give in to it's mystical powers!

Her first taste of it and so far so good.

Deciding whether to eat it or move along!

Trying to stay strong and not give in!

Ooohhhhh, the powers of the chocolate have won over another one!

I would say this experiment has failed, or succeeded depending on what side you look at it!

A Very happy customer as new chocolate lover for life = )

Case closed! Experiment has been deemed an epic success!

Disney World blast from the past - The Magic Kingdom 70s and 80s

2011-05-29T18:19:00.001-04:00

I had the idea of searching thru my parents old pictures to see what I could dig up after seeing some old Disney pictures being posed on Twitter and it go me curious to see what treasures I had buried away for all these years. Needless to say I stumbled across a ton from Walt Disney World. My guess is these pictures date back to the late 70s and early 80s for some of them. Amazing to see how things have changed and evolved from all those years ago from the decor to the landscaping and not to mention some rides. Hope you enjoy this blast from the past!

Most likely one of my first times at Magic Kingdom, if not my first. My Uncle, Mom and Dad in the lower right. I sure dont remember but with that haircut im glad I dont.

The entrance to the Magic Kingdom!

Main Street USA way back when! Not sure if they still run the hose drawn carriage but if they do its been ages since I have seen one run. Warning watch your step : )

Ah the castle amidst all the bell bottoms and sideburns!

I sorta vaguely remember these boats. You wont see any of these floating around anymore.

OMG someone stole Splash and Thunder Mountain!!!!

Wow good luck getting a picture like this with crowds these days!

Next stop Tom Sawyer Island!

A cool picture of how the one side of Fantasyland used to look from the old skyride that vanished ages ago.

Hey looks its an old Ticket and Information booth.

10,000 Leagues Under The Sea. Future home of Little Mermaid ride and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs roller coaster.

Ahhh, still drinking their rum to this day and way before anyone heard of Captain Jack Sparrow.

This guys hasnt moved from this spot for 30 years.

Enchanted Tiki Room before new management evicted the old tenants.

Be afraid, be very afraid.

Heading over to Tomorrow land. Funny the future doesnt look anything like this.

Tomorrow land before the make over.

Old Skyride transfer station. Funny also they probably are using the same go karts to this day.

Space Mountain old original entrance before the make over.

I love seeing these old pictures from Disney past. I hope to come across more after I get a hold of old photos from other family members. I have some old ones from around the resort are and Epcot that I will scan and post shortly.

Our last day of our pumpkins first Disney trip - Animal Kingdom

2011-05-23T20:37:00.001-04:00

Every journey has an end but unlike the TV show Lost this one is far less complex confusing. Although you may run into the occasional wild creature here and there.

On to day 4 of our glorious adventure with our daughter and introducing to her what hopefully turns into a life long passion. Animal Kingdom was on tap for the days trek across Disney and it did not disappoint.

The Tree of Life.

Her first musical and what better than the Lion King. Caught the first show which was perfect with low crowds and plenty of seating.

Singing along with the show. . . . If your aching, for some bacon, you can a big pig to, oye!

Right after Lion King was Camp Mickey and Minnie. First up was Thumper and Miss Bunny. She loved them and was so curious.

Next up Chip and Dale. She was too sure but warmed up to them.

It's the Disco Yeti Mountian!

Time for the Nemo musical. This was our first time watching this. We enjoyed it but would have been better had the little munchkin not been so antsy.

Just keep swimming, just keep swimming.

BUBBLES!!!!

Safe to say she is having a great time.

Daddy and daughter are thirsty!

Her first petting zoo trip and what is the first thing she tries to do? Yep, she tries to grab a handful of the goats hair.

Parade time!

Shaking hands and kissing babies!

After a long few days all good things must come to an end and so it was time to pack up and hit the highway. But fear not kiddo we go back up 2 weeks after this trip for another long weekend excursion to the happiest place on earth. Till next time : )

Our lil ones first Disney trip - Part 2

2011-05-13T19:51:00.002-04:00

Part 2 Our little ones first trip to Disney.

Today was the big day, the day our little jelly bean was going to experience the Magic Kingdom for the very first time and with a full day and a lot planned for her.

Day 3 of our trip started off early for us with an 8am character breakfast reservation at Crystal Palace so sleeping in that morning was not an option. Of course me being me made sure we left the hotel and got to the park with plenty of time to spare. This was also our first character breakfast so we were probably more excited than our little girl lol. I highly recommend the one at Crystal Palace, good food and lots of interaction with Winnie The Pooh and friends. I also would highly suggest you make a reservation before your trip and for a little extra bonus make it for first thing in the morning for a little early Magic Kingdom action before they let the general public in!

We finally arrived and off we went for what would be her very first monorail ride on our way to the Magic Kingdom. She couldn't really see all that much so I don't think she was really impressed lol.

An almost empty Main Street USA before they let the mass of people in.

Our first picture as a family together in front of Cinderella's Castle.

Inside the lobby at the Crystal Palace.

Mickey waffles!!!! Try the Pooh's puffed french toasts, mmmm so good!

That's a big Tigger!

Cassadoodles goofing around with Piglet!

All this excitement and she decides it's nap time lol. We didn't let that slow us down from a great photo op haha!

All this food made me sleepy too!

Breakfast was over an so it was time to go and have some fun out in the park. Cassadoodles ready to go and rocking her 1st visit button.

First ride of the day, Peter Pan. A little dark for her but she was still a champ.

Getting ready to go on Small World. She will forever have that song stuck in her head lol.

Trying to sing Its A Small World After All!

Next up was Winnie the Pooh!

On our way out of Pirates of The Caribbean. She came, she saw, she conquered those scaly wags!

Arrggh!

Lunch time with a view!

Babys first hair cut at Harmony Barber shop at the Magic Kingdom. We wanted to do something special for her first haircut so before our trip we made a reservation to get her haircut at Harmony Barber Shop on Main Street.

She did so good and didn't get cranky at all.

Taa daa! Haircut and Mickey Ears to top it off.

How cool is this, a first haircut certificate and ears to match.

All wiped out after a fun day at Magic Kingdom.

The day was cut a little short due to my wife starting to have slight contractions. All was good after we took it easy back at the hotel for the rest of the evening. Tomorrow sadly was our last day and of all was well it would be spent at Animal Kingdom.

Day 4 to be continued . . . . .

Lil Ones First Disney Trip part 1

2011-05-11T05:03:00.001-04:00

The time had finally come. Our daughter, all of 7 months old, had been itching to go to Disney World for the longest of times lol. She even tried telling us in a goo goo gaa gaa kind of way. So we did what any parent would do and packed up the bags, Mickey and Minnie Ears and made the drive up to the Happiest Place On Earth.

This wasn't our first trip up to Disney but it sure was a special and unique trip. Our first trip with our daughter, our first trip as a married couple and our first trip as annual pass holders. A trip of firsts. A trip with and baby and also my wife being 5 months pregnant with our second daughter. It was definitely a different kind of trip with a different game plan going into it. Instead of the hustle and bustle of a normal trip this one was going to be slow, take our time and enjoy the little things.

After eagerly awaiting for this trip the morning finally arrives. Early Thursday morning was upon us. Loaded up the car, drove up and picked up Grandma and off we went. Next stop Disney!

Our first stop once we got up there was Downtown Disney for some pre gaming.

After a couple of hours we headed over to Hollywood Studios for our second stop of the trip. We had planned on Hollywood Studios the first evening with the sole intentions of catching Fantasmic. I was excited since this was the first time both my wife and mom have seen the show. Needless to say they loved it but I missed the dragon which was a no show.

This was a special moment. The first time in her life that she got to meet Mickey Mouse in person. She was so excited she fell asleep in line while we waited lol. She woke up just in time and was so intrigued and curious by this big mouse in front of her. Not know what to make of him, she cracked a smile and played with his nose. A magical moment.

Her first experience with fireworks and lights and sounds like this. She was paying attention that's for sure. Our first day at Disney was a blast.

Day number 2 we headed over to Epcot. We just lucked out and got there a week before the Flower and Garden festival started so they had all the topiaries all out and ready for the following week.

So lunch came around and being the big pizza fan that I am we decided to try out the pizza at the new Via Napoli restaurant. I must say it is one of the best pizzas I have ever had, and most expensive.

So it was time for her very first Disney ride. Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros boat ride at the Mexican pavilion.

Next up was the Finding Nemo ride at the Living Seas pavilion.

So after a fun filled exhausting long day it was time to head back to the hotel. Meanwhile the little one wasn't waiting to start her nap time

Off we go for the day. The next day was a big day. Her first trip to the Magic Kingdom.

To be continued . . . . . . .

Kingda Ka

2011-05-07T19:31:00.000-04:00

Captain's log stardate 90210. We have entered into the deepest darkest reaches of New Jersey to seek out and conquer the mythological beast better know as Kingda Ka! Our mission on this journey is to study and tame this monstrosity. It was a long draw out fight but in the end we came out victorious!

Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey. The moment you pull into the parking lot this huge tall mass of steel. And whats that? Thats right its the worlds tallest roller coaster on this planet at 456ft tall! Up until recently it was also the worlds fastest at 128mph reached in a total of 3.5 seconds! This isnt your grandparents Steeplechase that is for sure.

The view from the parking lot. Intimidating!

Getting inline you get a small taste for what you are about to experience.

The view while waiting inline of what lays ahead.

It really is that tall!

The moment I have been waiting on. I finally get to see what this ride is all about. Let me say it does not disappoint.

How some people looked after going on this ride! Never the same lol!

The launch n all its glory. Don't blink or you may miss it.

Cassidy's 1st Easter

2011-05-03T07:01:00.001-04:00

This was our first Easter together as a family with the little one. Since last year we bombed with the Easter event I found in downtown Ft Lauderdale we decided to check out one in Coral Springs. It was a nice event with plenty to do for the kids but was super hot which forced us to cut the day a little short but fun was still had by all.

Mommy and Cassadoodles with one and only Easter Bunny!

The calm before the storm and all the kids.

Walks past all the eggs and takes mommy right up to the stuffed bunny rabbit.

So many eggs so little time.

Come on mommy, enough pictures, I want eggys

I only have two hands mommy.

The two beautiful ladies!

Follow me!

She gets the idea but isnt happy its plastic and not chocolate!

She didn't seem all to thrilled with the Disney princesses. I think she knew they were fake lol.

Harry Potter and the tale of our 1st visit

2011-04-27T22:02:00.001-04:00

We have been to Islands of Adventure a hundred times before but this trip however is different. It is our 1st trip to Islands of Adventure to visit Mr Potter himself. This section of the park is amazing and amazingly crowded.

Mommy and daddy in front of Hogwarts while little Csssidy hit the snooze button!

Hog's Head Inn and Pub, a quieter place to find Butterbeer when the carts out side are jammed up with muggles.

Yummy Butterbeer!

All those wands and just sitting and waiting for their little wizard and witches.

The roller coaster formally known as Dueling Dragons got a Potter makeover also.
