How to Delete an OS by MSCONFIG?

It was at the end of 2011 when Windows 8 was released for the first time as developer preview version. I installed it on my PC with Windows 7 side by side. Most of the people didn't like it. But I was very impressed just after using it for few hours.

Then I decided to remove Windows 7 to continue with Windows 8. Windows 7 was installed on Drive C and Windows 8 was on D. To delete Windows 7 I booted from Windows 8. And tried to format C Drive.

But drive C was not formatted! Because Windows files were very much protected. They can't be formatted until you re-install your windows. What should you do now? How will you remove the OS that you don't wanna use?

Let's find how to solve this problem.

Open System Configuration. (Hint: Start + R > msconfig > enter)
Select the Boot Tab.
Choose the Operating System you wanna remove.
Now hit the Delete button.
Open My Computer. Format the drive where removed Operating System was installed. That's it.

Don't try to remove the OS on which your PC is currently running! I mean if you wanna remove Windows 7 then start PC by Windows 8. Because you can't cut the tree on which you're climbing! :)

Not getting ideas about what to write. Because last few days I wrote about all the topics I got within last 7 days! No problem. Today we can discuss about creating backlinks - an essential part of SEO.

What is back link actually? It's just your site's link on other sites. Your links maybe on other sites' comment, post, link list etc. When other sites have your link on them search engines consider your site as important one.

The sites with higher backlinks get the priority while showing in the search result. But search engines' policy change very often. Couple of months ago Google decides to rank the sites best on their contents. That means they said they will consider the quality of the contents of a site.

Whatever the case is you should try to build up links on higher PR sites. And at the same time your content must be good, unique and interesting too.

Now I will talk about few easy ways for creating backlinks. Yeah it's simple. But time consuming.

Commenting: You can comment on other sites like blog, website, forum etc with your site's link. Make sure your comment is relevant, useful and attractive.
Creating Accounts: Many websites let their users create an account with their own URL. So when you create web accounts make sure to include your URL there if you've that opportunity.
Posting: There are many websites, blogs and forums where you can write. While writing on other sites try to relate your topic with your site's contents. And try to create link. If your post is popular you will get a good number of visitors as bonus!
Submission: Submit your site in different free submission site. If your site's link is found in those sites it will be considered as backlinks.

These are the main ways to create links or backlinks. There are many other ways. But they are nothing but the variations of the above methods.

If you're a regular visitor of this site then you might know that several posts have been made about Windows 8. Several times I mentioned about Weather Forecast app of Windows 8.

How to Change the Drive Letters

Few days ago my PC got some problems. And I need to reinstall my Windows 8. After installing a fresh Windows, I got surprised! Drive D was missing from my drive list!

What happened actually? D drive was automatically named as E. And all the drives' names were replaced by the next letter. Such as E with F, F with G and G with H. Though I don't the actual reason maybe it is caused by the new Windows, but I can show you how to get rid of this change.

If you face the same problem, or just want to change the name of your drives, you can follow my instruction.

Right click on My Computer icon from desktop and select Manage.
Now hit on the Disk Management from the left panel.
Here you will get the list of your drives.
Then right click on any drive that you wanna change, and hit on Change Drive Letter and Paths.
Now Click on the Change and Select another letter for this drive from drop down list.
Finally hit on the OK button for twice. Open your Explorer to see the change.

Claim Your Site in Alexa: Increase your Ranking!

A common tendency of bloggers and web masters is to increase their sites' ranking. The most popular ranking system is Google Page Rank. A page is ranked from 0 to 10 in Page Rank system.

And another method is getting popularity day by day. Yes, I'm talking about Alexa Traffic Rank. This ranking system still not as popular as Page Rank. But in the future it will be very popular. Couple of days ago I wrote about the importance of using Alexa Toolbar.

And today I'm gonna show how to claim a site on Alexa. Definitely, if you claim your site in Alexa, it will give you a higher ranking in return!

Okay let's start our mission.

At first create an account on Alexa following the normal rules as you usually do.
Now follow this link to claim your site.
Type your home page URL (ie. http://munnamark.blogspot.com) in the Get Started box and hit on Claim Your Site.
Now you will get the sign up option. Choose the Free option.
There will be 2 options. Follow any method that is suitable for you.
Then hit on Verify button.

Sign in to your blog and go to the design.
Hit on the Template button from the left panel.
Click on Edit HTML and proceed.

Paste this ID anywhere in the head section as the image shows below.
To find the </Title> press Ctrl+F and type </title> then search.

Dot Net Framework 3.5 Not Installing on Windows 8? Fix it Now!

You may face a common problem while using Windows 8. Microsoft .Net Framework 3.5 is not installed with Windows 8. And several programs may ask you install this. And you can't install this from your PC. It will ask you to connect to the net and use Windows Update.

By default Windows 8 comes with .Net Framework 4.5 and it doesn't include 3.5. When you try to install .Net 3.5 that you previously downloaded from web the you will see the following message.

And you will get the same message while installing some some programs that is developed using .Net 3.5 platform. And you will not able to run those programs on your PC! This is a very bad job by Microsoft. A great trouble for Windows 8 users.

But today you will get the solution. You've install this using command line. I mean you have to use Command Prompt. And surprisingly you Windows 8 DVD includes the .Net Framework 3.5!

Now start the work:

Enter your Windows 8 installation disk on DVD Drive.
Now run Command Prompt as Administrator. (Hint: Press Start > Type cmd > Now right click on Command Prompt and hit on Run as Administrator from the bottom)
Now copy the following command and paste it in the command prompt window. Or type the following line in command prompt. Press Enter (To paste the command in command prompt, click the right button of mouse and select paste)
Now .Net Framework will be installed within few minutes.

DISM /Online /Enable-Feature /FeatureName:NetFx3 /All /LimitAccess /Source:h:\sources\sxs

Remember: h is the drive letter of DVD drive. Change it with your DVD drive letter.

Couple of weeks ago the final version of Windows 8 has been launched by Microsoft. Versions are-

These are the main versions which have other segments too. ie. Pro N, Pro VL, Enterprise N, Enterprise VL etc.

If you've any trouble to activate Windows 8 you can solve it just by double click. Have any doubt? Try it now!

Whatever the version of your Windows 8, a single activator can activate any all versions. Follow the steps below:

Download the zipped file from the link below.
Now extract the file. (It can also work in zipped condition)
Then double click on the file Windows 8 Activator.exe.
Now within 2/3 seconds your PC will be restarted.

Snipping tool is a manual tool to capture image. But today I will discuss about Steps Recorder which is an automatic tool to capture image or screen. You can use it for different purposes. Say for example, you can use it to make tutorial of something. When are writing about how to do something then you can use this tool to record the process with your written instructions.

Steps Recorder is built in with Windows 8. But it was also available in Windows 7 named Problem Steps Recorder. Only the name of this app has been changed everything remain same.

To start and use the recorder follow the instructions below:

Windows 8 users, Press Start and simply type Steps then choose the Steps Recorder. And windows 7 users Press Start + R > type psr > Press Enter.
Now it is active. To start the record press Start record. (Shortcut key- Alt + A)
Now do your normal job that will be recorded.
Remember, when you click on something it will be recorded. And you will see a red button with every record.
Anytime you can pause or resume the recorder.
Once your task finished stop the recorder. (Alt+O)
When save box appeared press the Save button. (Alt+V)
Give a name to the file. The file will be saved with .zip extension.
When you open the saved file, it will opened with your browser.

Hidden Option Can't be Unchecked? Fix it Now!

If you look at the above picture, you'll notice the property of a hidden file. And carefully look at the attributes. The option Hidden is checked. And you will not be able to uncheck this. Because this option is disabled.

In this situation you need to view the files by unchecking the protected operating system files from folder options. Which is very annoying. Because this option reveals many unnecessary files with your required files.

Today I'm gonna share a cmd command by which you can easily unhide all files and folders from a particular drive.

Press Windows Logo Key + R.

Type cmd and press Enter and you will see command prompt window.

Now type this command: attrib -s -h K:\. /s /d

This will unhide all files and folders of the drive K. Remember K is name of the drive in which you wanna run the operations. If you wanna unhide the folders of any other drive ie. D, then type D instead of K.

To view all hidden files and folders of your PC, follow this instructions:

Go to My Computer > View > Folder Options > Check Show Hidden Files and Folders > Uncheck Protected Operating System Files.

Add Facebook Like & Send Button After Each Post Title!

Earlier I showed How to Add a Pop Out Facebook Like Box in Side Bar. And in this post I'm gonna show how to add the Facebook like and send button after each post title. All you've to do is just add a small code in your blog template.

If you do this, it will be easier to share your blog post with your friends. And you can also post it in your wall without visiting your page! And it will also allow you to share posts by email IDs of your friends. So you shouldn't miss this trick.

Sign in into your blogger account.
Then go to Design > Template > Edit Html. (Backup your template if you're new user)
Check the box Expand Widget Template.
Press Ctrl+F and search for <data:post.body/>
Now copy and paste the following code before <data:post.body/>
Now save your template and see the result!

NB: This code may be worked for any other websites other than blogger. Just copy and paste the code in the perfect place.

You can customize this code too-

If you place this code after <data:post.body/> this tag then the like and send button will be displayed after the blog post rather than the title.
Look at the the width="500". You can change the size too. You can use 450 or 550 instead of 500.

Add Print as PDF button in Your Blog!

Sometimes your blog or website reader may wanna save the post as PDF. Or they may want to print it. And there are many free tools to add Save as PDF button. But the problem is that, most of the free tools doesn't allow you to remove the background images of your site. I mean this is not print friendly. As a result whole web page is saved. And this is very irritating.

Today I'm sharing a code that is free from this problem. It allows you to save only the sentences with related image. Let's try this-

Sign in into your blog. Then go to design.
From the left panel, hit on the Layout button.
Now click on Add a Gadget.
Choose HTML/ JavaScript.
Now copy and paste the following code into the Content Box.
Save the gadget and view your blog to see the change!

If you wanna place the button at the left side then replace the red colored words as- float:left. And if you are expert in coding like html, CSS, then you can easily place this code anywhere you want.

How to Undo or Cancel a Sent Mail in Gmail?

Today I'm gonna share a terrific trick of Gmail. Well this is very useful too. Sometimes you may be composing a message in Gmail and you can do any of the following mistakes:

You may send incomplete message.
You may type wrong address.
You may hit the send button by mistake!

And any of the above mistakes may cause you to face serious situation if you're betrayed by luck!

Gmail users can easily get rid of this problem. Because there is a way to cancel your sent mail. But you've to enable this system manually. Google labs offer you to undo your sent or sending mail within 30 seconds after hitting the send button. Let's enable this setting.

First, sign in into your Gmail account. Now look at the top right corner of the window. There is a Settings button with a down arrow. Click on it and hit on Settings option.

Here you'll see few tabs. Choose the Labs Tab from here. Then scroll down and find out the Undo Send button. There are two options. Enable and Disable. The default setting is Disable. You've to choose the Enable option. And hit on the Save button from below.

Now whenever you send any mail to a person you'll see this message-

Now you can cancel the sent mail by hitting the Undo button.
