Just before I left for Abiqua Falls this morning, I learned that Lou Reed died. I've always been a casual fan -- I love some of his work, and other stuff isn't my thing. However, I have a tremendous respect for his role in music history, and I know that a ton of the music I love was directly influenced by Lou Reed and VU.

After I had a perfect first trip to Abiqua, I followed that with a mildly disastrous trip to Upper Butte Creek Falls. As I was taking a 15-second image, my PoS tripod fell over -- one of the legs telescoped closed just as I turned my back. My camera ends up in the water, I lost my lens cap in the panic, and my ND filter for my wide-angle lens is destroyed. Fortunately, the camera is fine, but I don't know if the lens is unscathed. It looks fine, but the filter won't come off. What a perfect day.

This window full of heads, arms and legs of antique dolls can not attract the attention of those who walk through Via di Ripetta. The name of this charming shop is “Artistic Restoration Squatriti: dolls hospital.” If you walk through the door, time seems to have stopped here: toy soldiers, dolls and ancient puppets are here to welcome you. The Squatriti family has Neapolitan origins and transmit the art of restoration from generation to generation. In little more than 15 square meters the two owners take care of their little patients tirelessly, the dolls are made of wood or cardboard, often late nineteenth century, family heirlooms or collectibles whose buyers come from all over the world. Like any good doctor, when the little patient is ‘cured’ is returned to the owner with a notebook indicating diagnostic repairs incurred and advice on how to treat it.

Went outside, sat on the edge of the sidewalk and took this while getting my oil changed....

I actually LIKE the new Flickr app for Android. The old one was a joke. It was good enough for some quick browsing, I guess, and perhaps a comment or fave here and there... But with the new app, I actually find myself enjoying the many photos on Flickr. Which makes me wonder, why did this update take sooooooo long. I wonder how many people already gave up Flickr because the wait was just too long....

Anyway, the next features I'd like to see are on the app and desktop are being able to participate in group threads and actually being able to keep updated on the threads on which I comment.

Wanted to see the largest Full Moon of the year, but the horizon all was covered with hazy clouds in the moonrise time... It was a blue hour and it was hard to say where clouds thin where thick... I very much hoped that the moon will peek-a-boo through the cloud veil and waited, waited for some time... and oh miracle, the Strawberry Super Moon appeared for a tiny fraction of time just enough to make a few of shots! They are not quite super as the moon itself, but I'm rather happy with them nonetheless..

The first full Moon is June is called a Strawberry Moon, according to Native American folklore, because the short season for harvesting strawberries comes during the month of June. Other names include Rose Moon and Flower Moon.
And this year it's a Super Moon of Strawberry June :-)
Since it was a moonrise and due to atmospheric conditions on Earth, the colour of the moon was totally strawberry-friendly and in combination with the blue hour it felt magical.

There is no colour correction here in this diptych, I just was not able to resist casting a little bit of texture magic to emphasize the velvet feel of the sky canvas and that's all.
