Are you restoring to a stock apple firmware or a custom pwn firmware? Either way make sure you are in DFU mode first.

This is caused by a failure to match the Baseband Nonce currently in memory to the Nonce returned in the BasebandFirmware SHSH blob. This is a normal part of iPhone 4 local restores via TinyUmbrella. 1

False edited hosts. The SHSH request couldn't be completed. No connection to the Apple Server, Sauriks Server or localhost.

Error 3194
Occurs when trying to install an old firmware and Apple's server disallows the installation. The only solution is to have SHSH backup and modify the hosts file to point to Saurik's Cydia server where they are backed up (or localhost if you have it yourself).

Error 3195
"An internal error occurred." Missing SHSH for the firmware. Maybe the same as "This device isn't eligible for the request build." but with an cache error.

After trying some of the posts here is way that i found working..

Important .

Must have genuine windows not WGA crack so it wont let u save host file.. probably this is the reason many say it fail on their pc but work in other pc..

open the file C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts (Windows) or /etc/hosts (Mac OS X) and add the following entry to the bottom of the file

1.press START run in windows
put C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts

add 74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com at the bottom.

-leave the old xxx.xx.xx.xxx gs.apple.com (dont replace anything just add this to the bottom. close host file (will save if using genuine windows)

NOW

1- you'll need this TinyUmbrella download here The Firmware Umbrella

2- Open up Tiny Umbrella -> tick Advanced Option -> Select 3Gs 4.01 -> Cydia and Click SAve My SHSH

It will now say your shsh was found in cydia

3-put the phone in DFU mode while connected.

4-now hold left shift button and restore it with 4.0.1 it will be done successfully.

now u may jailbreak / unlock
