What is the Dream Act?

DREAM stands for - Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors
This bill was first introduced to the Senate in 2001 and it recently hit the headlines, in 2011, as California's Governor Brown took action.(AB130 and AB131)

Under the DREAM act illegal alien students who show good conduct and graduate from a US high school will be allowed permanent residency and financial aid for higher education. These aliens must have presided in the United States for five continuous years prior to the bill's enactment. The bill will allow these aliens to "acquired a degree from an institution of higher education in the United States or has completed at least 2 years, in good standing, in a program for a bachelor's degree or higher degree in the United States" or have "served in the armed services for at least 2 years and, if discharged, has received an honorable discharge".

These are the requirements for the beneficiaries of this bill under the 2008 Senate Bill:

Have proof of having arrived in the United States before age 16^.
Have proof of residence in the United States for at least five consecutive years since their date of arrival.
If male, Have registered with the Selective Service.
Be between the ages of 12 and 30 at the time of bill enactment.
Have graduated from an American high school, obtained a GED, or have been admitted to an institution of higher education.
Be of "good moral character"

These requirements seem to be extremely vague, such as the "good moral character". Who is to determine if an illegal alien meets these requirements? How easy is it for someone who is illegally in the United States to say that they were in the US before the age of 16?

In 2011 California's Governor Brown signed the CA version assembly bill of the Dream Act allowing students who are illegal immigrant to obtain access to scholarships in their pursue of state schools of higher education. Governor Brown says that "Going to college is a dream that promises intellectual excitement and creative thinking ... The Dream Act benefits us all by giving top students a chance to improve their lives and the lives of all of us."

A UCLA study showed that if this bill was to be enacted the country would benefit from the major income taxes created by the 2.1 million illegal aliens, who will benefit from this act. The increase income taxes can rack up to $3.6 trillion. While these minor are illegal aliens, they have lived in the United States all their lives. They have learned the culture of being an American and have gained nationalism for the United States. They will most likely continue their career within the United States upon graduation from college. This will create an increased number in the workforce and drive up the increase in total income tax revenue for the state and country. Rather than damaging the economy these illegal aliens, who become permanent residents, will eventually become a part of the productive workforce. Every year 65,000 undocumented students graduate from US high schools, Could these numbers drive the economy forward?

While this may not seem to be highly beneficial to the country, it is more of a moral cause. "Arguing that children should not be punished for their parents' decisions." It is seen as immoral for the United States to treat children indifferently if they were not the ones to decide to make choice. Many of these students don't see a future for themselves because they receive no economic support, and college is a highly burdensome task. By giving financial assistance it will encourage these students to "try harder" and pursue an interest, eventually becoming a vital part of the United States.

Some may argue that this act will encourage an increase in the the number of illegal immigrants that will enter the United States. San Bernardino's Assemblyman believes that "It's morally wrong ...We have just created a new entitlement that is going to cause tens of thousands of people to come here illegally from all over the world." The DREAM Act will further entice the citizens of foreign countries to illegally entered the borders of the United States. Some citizens in California may argue that by providing financial aid to illegal aliens, who pay a minimal amount of taxes, will further deteriorate the dwindling economy. It is estimated that California's enactment of the assembly bills could cost the state up to $40 million. In a situation where there is an increase in illegal immigration, Customs and Border Protection may need to amp up their protection. This will eventually increase government spending in these dire economic time. Many may see this as unfair for American born citizens who have paid taxes all their lives and still have to pay a large portion of the tuition to state colleges and universities.

Do the benefits outweigh the costs?

Nike's "Back to the Future" inspired shoes

Nike held a press conference earlier this week in West Covina, California to announce the release of the "Nike Air-Mag" aka the shoes worn by Marty McFly from "Back to the Future". While it doesn't feature the same power activated laces, it does have the same consistency of the glowing lights.

These Air Mag shoes are also said to be rechargeable, probably to power the flashy lights. The light can be turned on with a press of a button located on the top end of the shoe. Warning: Thieves will be targeting Nike Air Mag shoes soon because they are visible from miles away. Be careful when you wear them because when you get knocked down they will slip right off your feet...

Limited Time: As of now the bids on eBay are roaring and prices are reaching over $5 million, when it only started at $0.99. You can too be apart of the craze by visiting eBay. Sizes are between 7 and 13, guessing it's men size...

Mark Parker, CEO of Nike, announced that these shoes will be auctioned off on eBay and all proceeds will benefit the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's research. The auction will last for 10 days in order to sell all 1,500 pair of shoes.

The main objective of releasing this shoe is to promote Parkinson disease reasearch, here is Nike CEO, Mark Parker's, message:

We wanted to translate the excitement people have for the 'greatest shoe never made' and for the 'Back to the Future' into positive action," said Parker. "But the long-term objective is to raise awareness so the Foundation can achieve their goal of eradicating Parkinson's disease."

The price of the iPhone 4s remains constant with the price of the previous iPhone 4. The iPhone 4s received some minor upgrades that are powerful, but increases production prices for Apple. The ascetics of the iPhone 4s is the exact replica of the iPhone 4. It still possess it sleek and attractive design, but the upgrades are under the hood. So what are these upgrades that will cost Apple more per iPhone 4s sold?

A5 Processor: a major upgrade from the iPhone 4's A4 processor. Cost of A5: $26. Cost of A4: $15.
Cellular Radio: the iPhone 4s features a more advanced Qualcomm cellular radio that is capable of operating on both GSM and CDMA. Cost of new radio: $24. Cost of older radio: $16
Camera: the iPhone 4s received a major camera upgrade from the iPhone 4's 5 megapixels to 8 MP. Cost 8MP: $18. Cost 5MP: $14

The minor upgrades in parts from the iPhone 4 to the iPhone 4s may seem insignificant but it can only entice more user to hop onto the Apple wagon. These may be small upgrades but for the same price, it may be worth a thought.

The A5 Processor is the same model found in the iPad 2, which was a significant speed increase from the iPad 1. While the A5 processor may cost more for Apple, the speed increase will attract many more geek in considering the iPhone 4s has their next handset. The new Qualcomm radio may cost Apple more per unit but producing a single version of an iPhone may lower their cost. Before, the iPhone 4 was made with a GSM chip for AT&T and later manufactured a CDMA version for Verizon. The quality of the iPhone 4s's 8MP camera will be a major attraction for many consumer this holiday season. It will cause many to reconsider buying a separate devices such as a camera.

The increased cost of the iPhone 4s may seem hefty for Apple, but they continue to sell the iPhone to carriers such as AT&T, Verizon, and now Sprint for over $600. It is only a small dent in their large wallets. Overall the small increase in cost will attract more buyer and therefore, a higher profit for Apple.

To summarize this site is similar to the weird posts on craigslist, but sellers are limited to the $5 price. The idea of paying $5 to someone on the internet for a product or service is questionable. You have a great chance of receiving something you didn't expect.

Will The United States Continue To Sell Arms to Taiwan?

The grudge between Communist China and Nationalist Taiwan continues to be a grueling issue of the world stage. Barack Obama has brought the United States into the mist of this international dispute. The United States is continuing to sell military arms to Taiwan, as an assistance for defense against mainland China. China is showing a dirty eye because the U.S is selling arms China's rival but also maintaining an economic relation with them. Just recently Obama agreed to refurbished some of Taiwan's F-16s, China officials have shown some objections towards this issue. F-16s are fighter jets made for the United States Air Force. Some political figures of the United States argue that United States should discontinue the sell of arms to Taiwan in order to maintain a feasible economic relationship with China.

No matter how much assistance the United States gives to Taiwan, it will still a small island off the coast of mainland China. Taiwan can never compete with China's army, world largest, and nuclear weapons. Obama's decision to refurbish the F-16s was only a political gesture and China doesn't seem to have taken great offense. Since China still hold 36% of all U.S securities, no possible international dispute will break out

over this minute issue.

If the United States decides to back out of supporting Taiwan with military arms, democracy in that part of Asia will be in jeopardy. It is possible that the disputed island of Taiwan will be taken by Communist China to out rule Democracy. It is only beneficial for the U.S and for democracy to continue to influence that part of Asia and limit political ideology of China. As China continues to hold the world's largest army, the world can easily understand that China's interest is to grow both politically and economically.

The world lost one of the greatest inventors of our time, Steve Jobs. He introduced to us the iPod, iPhone, iPad, and a new generation of Macintosh computers. He had a way of introducing the world to new endeavors that intrigued everyone. Each one of Steve Job's Apple events surpassed the last, from the iPhone announcement to the iPad announcement, and even back to the "talking mac."

Earlier this year, Steve Jobs stepped down as CEO of Apple. We remember the words in his memo, "I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple's CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come." That was the day that ended a era in the technology industry. He continued to stay on the board of Apple directors. There has been many speculations on his health since his surgery in 2004 for pancreatic cancer. He took a temporary leave of absence in 2009 for a secret live transplant

This dude tries to steal a 100 year old TV. Unfortunately for him, the TV crashes down on top of him. He and the TV both land on top of a set of table. At least he didn't attempt to take the TV with him, I'll give him prompts for that.

Now there are thieves who just aren't has smart as the guy above. These two ladies steal a lottery ticket from another lady trying to redeem her ticket. I would believe that these lottery ticket are traceable. Right? The two ladies were soon arrested after bragging, in a taxi, about their stolen ticket.
