On to the Next One... My New Blogging Home

2010-03-05T13:06:00.005-06:00

A great man once said, "I move forward, the only direction...can't be scared to fail in search of perfection."

Okay, that was the homie Jay-Z, but you get the point.

As I watched In a Perfect World... flourish and grow and readership increase, I felt the need to give my loyal readers something new to look at.

As a result, I starting tinkering with things and trying to apply the new awesome logo my generous friend had provided me. I document that entire ordeal HERE. Not being able to restore my blog to its previous splendor presented me with a new opportunity.

I have had my blog with Blogger since 2007. It started with humble beginnings and rants about things of minimal importance to me (or my readers back then). If you get a chance, go back and look at original postings, it's quite humorous actually.

In 2009, I promised myself I would attempt to create my own following posting things I wanted to see. I found myself visiting multiple sites a day to get the relevant information I needed for my daily gossip fix. I decided there must be other people out there similar to me. And thus, the new In a Perfect World... emerged. I love it! And I love Blogger. But it's limiting.

Consequently, I have moved my blog, and all past posts, over to Wordpress. The page is still a work in progress, but I am very excited for the prospects using Wordpress presents. I can track readers more easily, include a more integrated viewing experience, and still continue to provide all the information and gossip you want. My new site also includes a free mobile supported site for those that read on the go. Wordpress also allows for an easier transition to a unique domain, my ultimate goal.

My orginal blog still exists in its full entirety, but there will be no new postings to

http://traysay8.blogspot.com.

So follow me over to Wordpress!! The new site is

http://perfectworld8.wordpress.com

As stated, it's a work in progress. But tell me what you think! I still have the same Twitter page for the blog as well:

http://twitter.com/Perfect_World8

Thank you for being a loyal reader. Stay tuned for bigger and better things!

*make sure you switch your bookmarks over*

Girl, Where Have You Been?!

2010-03-04T20:03:00.004-06:00

Okay, so I haven't posted anything new in like 48 hours. People have been asking me where I have been. Long story short, I started messing with my template on here, trying to upgrade and include my new logo. Peep the logo(s) below.

Aren't they awesome?!
Welp, I messed up something really badly and my blog hasn't been the same since. My wonderful friend Chris (who also designed my logos) fixed the major problem, bless his soul. But before I let him handle anything, I mistakenly deleted some of my original stuff. All of the content is still here, but a lot of my custom features and pictures and stuff have disappeared. :-(

I wanted to pull my hair out. I examined joining WordPress, and I still may. But that's seems just as frustrating as blogging with the current state that my blog is in. So I'm kinda stuck as to where I wanna go from here.

I'm stuck between working on developing this blog and customizing it to my liking, or completely abandoning it for Wordpress which offers more behind the scenes action.

Bear with me as I figure it all out. I promise it won't be much longer til I'm back with my gossip and opinions.

If you have any thoughts or comments about my next move, I am welcome to hear them.
*sigh*

MAGAZINE WORLD: Wale Talks Relationship Titles

2010-03-03T10:47:00.005-06:00

Wale is back with one of my favorite features HoneyMag.com presents. This time, he tackles the definition of a relationship. I really like what this dude has to say. I usually only post excerpts, but I love everything he has to say. Check it.

"A wise woman once told me that there is no such thing as boyfriend/girlfriend (insert air quotes) status. You’re either married or single. I think that mentality only works for optimistic free spirits. The carefree. Those who live for the moment. Those who never pursue or search for love – they consider it something they will eventually stumble upon. To these people, titles are meaningless.

I, on the other hand, believe a title is the second most effective form of validating one’s affection, next to “puttin’ a rang on it.” You see, some people look at titles as simple vernacular, a way of claiming a piece of property. Claiming someone as my girlfriend is a reflection of pride. Being able to look my girl in a room full of vultures, corporate folk, beautiful women, and dudes in search of ass and cleavage and being able to say, ‘Hey, this is my girl.’ It’s like saying, ‘Out of the six billion people on this planet, this is the one person entitled to every facet of me.’ This is who consumes my thoughts, this is who motivates me to be a better person, she is my she. In my opinion titles create a level of security for a woman. Us men like to have the safety valve. The option to be able to say, ‘But we’re not in a relationship.’ In other words, a get-out-of-pu$$y-jail-free card. It essentially allows you to fuck who you want, when you want — without any significant repercussions.

I’ve also been in love with a woman who didn’t want commitment, but still treated our relationship as a monogamous situation. In retrospect, maybe I should have been okay with it, but the lingering frustration with the apparent imbalance of #thatthing, pushed me to say some things that eventually ruined our friendship.

Which leads me to the term friend. The classification gets used so loosely and so often when referring to the not-quite-my-boyfriend-but-we-still-f*c% associate, that it’s nearly impossible to gage someone’s true feelings. I’ve learned from experience that some people are simply scared to death of growing up and shy away from any form of responsibility. In high school, boyfriend/ girlfriend was more an accessory used to decorate a sentence. (ie. ‘I’m goin’ to the movies with my boyfriend.’ To teenage girls, it sounds way cooler then, ‘I’m goin’ to the movies with Josh.’) But as you mature, the connotation behind bf/gf status is more about restrictions — not being able to sleep around, not being able to go to clubs every other night, and constant nagging about the aforementioned. You can’t guarantee that putting a title on something that’s already flawed is going to make it better. But you can’t guarantee that not defining it will make the relationship less complicated. I guess what I’m trying to say is that defining an existing relationship is as unpredictable as a pair of dice. The only thing I can say with certainty is that once that relationship status is spelled out, something will change, for better or worse. These are just my thoughts, ladies and gents. Thank you for reading. Love often, love hard, and love consistently. Peace."

Honestly, I agree with everything he has to say. Wale can definitely find a side hustle with some young people relationship advice. My fave line: "The only thing I can say with certainty is that once that relationship status is spelled out, something will change, for better or worse." So true!

Your thoughts?

BLOG WORLD: Kayne Speaks on Creativity

2010-03-02T19:21:00.003-06:00

While over at Kanye's new blog, I peeped a new post from him where he speaks on creativity.

Here's what he had to say:

"I'M ON THE PLANE LISTENING TO THE COLLEGE DROPOUT. IT BRINGS BACK SO MANY MEMORIES. WHEN WE MADE IT I HAS ALL 6 PARENTS, 4 GRANDPARENT AND MY MOM AND DAD. NOW I HAVE MY DAD AND MY GRANDFATHER. MUSIC IS SO NOSTALGIC. EVER SONG I LISTEN TO BRINGS ME BACK TO WHEN I FIRST PLAYED THEM FOR MY MOM, WHEN I FIRST PLAYED THEM FOR DAME, WHEN I FIRST PLAYED THEM FOR JAY, WHEN I FIRST FIRST PLAYED THEM FOR KWELI, WHEN I FIRST PLAYED THEM FOR MY NIGGAS BACK IN CHI, WHEN THE ALBUM FIRST CAME OUT, WHEN I FIRST CALLED EBRO FROM HOT 97 AND BEGGED HIM TO THAT THROUGH THE WIRE, WHEN DJ PHARRIS BLEW ME UP IN THE CHI. WE USED TO BE THE NIGGAS ROCKING POLO SHIRTS, LOUIE BACK PACKS, PAPER DENIM JEANS AND EXCLUSIVE ADIDAS FROM SPORTY LA. WE WERE THE UNDERDOGS. I NEVER FEEL LIKE I'M NOT THE UNDERDOG. I NEVER FELT COMPLETELY COMFORTABLE. I'M TORMENTED BY THE NEED TO CREATE. WITH THE LOSS OF MCQUEEN I FEEL LIKE WE LOST ONE OF THE FACE OF MODERN CREATIVITY'S MOUNT RUSHMORE. THERE WERE TIMES THAT THE ONLY THING THAT KEPT ME ON THIS EARTH WAS THE NEED AND RESPONSIBILITY TO CREATE. MAYBE MCQUEEN FELT HIS JOB WAS DONE BECAUSE HIS LAST COLLECTION WAS THE GREATEST OF THE DECADE. WE ARE ALL SO HURT. I KNOW WE'RE SELFISH BECAUSE HE BROUGHT US SO MUCH JOY AND INSPIRATION. I KNOW HOW IT FEELS WHEN THE NIGHT DEMONS COME. WE CAN'T LET THEM CONTROL OUR HANDS AND FEET. SOMETIMES WHEN IT HURTS SO BAD WE HAVE TO JUST LAY IN THE BED. JUST LAY IN THE BED AND DON'T MOVE PLEASE, I KNOW HOW IT FEELS. I WISH MCQUEEN COULD HAVE JUST BEEN STILL. DON'T LET THE PSYCHIATRISTS GIVE YOU THEIR DRUGS BECAUSE IT SLOWS DOWN YOUR WINGS. SOCIETY AND PUBLIC OPINION CAN BEAT THE WINGS OFF OF ANGELS. WHEN GOD SEES THEY CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE HE BRINGS THEM BACK HOME. DURING THIS NEW ALBUM PROCESS SOMETIMES I TURN THE MUSIC UP AND DRINK AND CRY. WHEN SOMETHING SOUNDS SO AMAZING AND GROUNDBREAKING I'M REMINDED OF WHY I LIVE. I DRINK THE PAIN OF NOW 2 GENERATIONS AND BREATHE OUR MELODIES AND MESSAGES. THE MUSIC KEEPS US ALIVE. I WAS BLESSED WITH THE OPPORTUNITY TO BRING MY AND OTHERS DREAMS TO LIVE. IT'S LIKE PERFORMING MAGIC OR SOMETHING. IT'S SURREAL. WE BRING THE UNREALISTIC TO REALITY. GO HARD GO HARD GO HARD ECHOES IN MY DREAMS. WHEN I WAKE UP AND BRUSH MY TEETH AND LOOK IN THE MIRROR IT'S LIKE I SEE MICHAEL AND MY MOM AND MALCOLM... WHO'S THAT AFRICAN IN THE BACKGROUND MOM? OH, HE CREATED THE ORIGINAL LAYOUTS FOR THE PYRAMIDS, BUT WAS WRITTEN OUT THE HISTORY BOOKS AND HIS MTV AWARD WAS GIVEN TO "ALIENS". THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS FACT ANYMORE, ONLY OPINION. THE CLOSEST THING WE HAVE TO "FACT" IS "COMMON OPINION". EVERYTHING IS AN OPINION. THE WAY YOU DRESS IS AN EXPRESSION OF YOUR OPINION. YOUR RELIGIOUS BELIEFS ARE YOUR OPINION. THE MUSIC YOU TURN UP LOUD IS YOUR OPINION. FOR MOST PEOPLE IT'S EASIER TO JUST AGREE. FOR ME THE HARDEST THING IS TO 'JUST' AGREE AND THAT IS WHAT SPARKS CREATIVITY, THE FEELING THAT SOMETHING CAN BE BETTER, THE FEELING THAT SOMETHING'S MISSING, THE FEELING THAT'S SOMETHING'S NEEDED."

Aside from the grammatical errors... interesting thoughts indeed. It definitely increases my anticipation for the album. Peep his original post HERE.

VIDEO WORLD:" Drop the World" & "All I Do is Win"

2010-03-02T19:08:00.003-06:00

I guess my wishes have been answered. Lil' Wayne has taped a video to "Drop the World" featuring Eminem. It's one of my favorite tracks of the moment and I can't wait to see the video. Peep a preview of the making.

A friend thought it would be too dark to tape a video to, but how could you not create a video to such an epic track?!

DJ Khaled premiered his new video for "All I Do is Win" on 106th & Park today. I don't really care for DJ Khaled, but I like the song. And I appreciate Ludacris' new zeal for rhyming. Peep the video below.

If you don't have the track, click HERE to download it.

I swear I am trying SO hard to not like Rick Ross, but I am failing terribly. His verses lately have caught my attention.

MUSIC WORLD: TIP's Twitter is a Fake?!?

2010-03-02T18:52:00.003-06:00

It appearead that T.I. got a Twitter page for all his fans last night. BUT, Natasha over at The YBF did a little investigating about T.I.'s supposed new Twitter page. Here's her post:

"Last night, an account popped up on Twitter–Verified and all–for the King himself T.I. (@Tip). He announced “he’s back” and Tweeted this solo message.

“major announcement coming Monday 3/8 @ 5pm EST on www.trapmuzik.com #kingsback”

Interesting, since his fiancee Tiny immediately answered the fans asking about the account. And she says it ain’t Clifford:

Hmmm.

*UPDATE* His rep says: “It’s a portal for Atlantic and Grand Hustle to officially post everything T.I.,” the rep stated. “T.I. himself is not on Twitter.”

Video of T.I. saying he would never do Twitter when your read the rest…

Well, there you have it. I can't lie, I was excited The King was going to be tweeting, but it does seem a bit out of character for him and his lifestyle. I'm still gonna follow for official updates though.

MUSIC WORLD: Lil' Wayne is Still a Free Man

2010-03-02T18:47:00.003-06:00

So my guess is the cosmic gods don't want Lil' Wayne to begin his prison sentence. He reported to court today to receive his official sentencing. Unfortunately, he wasn't able to receive his sentencing to begin his term today as expected. The court house was set on fire.

Something smells fishy... but he's to report to court tomorrow to receive his official sentencing. We shall see what delays it this time.

TV WORLD: TAKE IT BACK TUESDAYS- "The Lyricist Lounge Show"

2010-03-02T17:51:00.004-06:00

For today's Take it Back Tuesday, I am influenced by my own memories.

Back when MTV actually focused on music, they were cranking out good shows, like "The Lyricist Lounge Show." The whole premise of the show is sketch comedy set to a beat. Many famous artists stopped by the show to participate in the scenes including Erykah Badu, Cee-Lo, Common, and Snoop Dogg.
It was actually funny AND had decent lyricists. I couldn't find THAT many scenes on YouTube, so I snatched a few of my favorites.

Ahh... good television. And these mofos were talented.

VIDEO WORLD: Big Boi in the Studio & "Roger That;"

2010-03-01T19:57:00.002-06:00

Rap Radar recently caught up with Big Boi in the studio to premier his new single, "Tangerine." There's apparently a version with T.I. out there. The version he played does not include him though. Listen/watch below.

*sigh* Where are you Big Boi? That's good music! I hope his new solo album isn't imaginary like Detox.

Young Money premiered their new video to "Roger That" on 106 & Park today. This was one of the rumored 82 videos Weezy taped before heading to begin his prison sentence. Peep the comic book inspired video below.

Typical Young Money vid.

MAGAZINE WORLD: XXL & Ebony

2010-03-01T18:04:00.004-06:00

XXL has released the official cover of their "Freshman 10 of 2010." Peep the cover below.

After much hooplah and debate over the inclusion of OJ Da Juiceman, XXL has stood by their decision. I don't see the big deal. OJ Da Juiceman probably is gonna blow up this year. That doesn't mean you have to rock with him... You can watch Freestyle vids from the Freshman 10 over at XXL.

And the very beautiful Sade covers the new Ebony magazine.

The cover looks classic. In a good way. Make sure you scoop both issues.

VIDEO WORLD: Trey Songz "Neighbors Know My Name"

The NAACP Image Awards went down this weekend in LA and the stars brought our their Sunday best for the festivities. Here's an uber quick roundup of some fashionable ladies.

My favorite of the night, Keri Hilson looked stunning in her all black ensemble.

Taraji P. Henson also looked beautiful in a form-fitting blue jersey dress.

KeKe Palmer looked appropriately 16 in this bright, yellow dress.

Everyone's favorite young couple, Eva Pigford and Lance Gross. Interesting look for Eva.

My girl Jill Scott chose an interesting dress choice.
Anika Rose looked regal and Tasha Mack (Wendy Raquel Robinson) is shutting it down for the 40+ crowd.

TV WORLD: The Boondocks are Back!!

Aaron McGruder promised us another season of The Boondocks and he delivered! Well, he will. It has been officially announced that Riley and Huey will be back on Adult Swim come May 2, 2010.

There was an early trailer announcing the comeback of The Boondocks. The date provided is incorrect though. It has been confirmed that May 2 is the official premiere date.

Until that date, peep a clip of one of my favorite episodes, The Story of Ganstalicious, Pt. 2 (in three parts).

Yes! The Boondocks AND True Blood this summer?! I can't take it!

Now that's a supportive girlfriend!
He has since added a few more posts. I hope that this will coincide with some new music from Kanye!!

Uber cute couple Eva Pigford & Lance Gross recently did a photoshoot together. The photoshoot represented a day in the life of Lance Gross. Lance Twitpic'd some of the pictures and YBF snatched em up. Peep the photos below.

So he ends his day at the strip club huh?? *side eye*
But they are gonna make some beautiful babies!

MUSIC WORLD: Turk of Hot Boys Brother Gunned Down

2010-02-25T10:31:00.005-06:00

Remember the Hot Boys from the original Cash Money?! Well Turk, who has been in some sort of incarcerated situation for about six years, recently lost his brother from gun shot wounds. The rapper has written an open letter asking for assistance from the hip-hop community to cover the costs of the burial.

My question is, where are his former "bandmates??" Lil' Wayne, Juvenile, and even B.G. all have enough money to help bury his brother. Why haven't they stepped up?

Peep Turk's letter to Ozone Magazine.

I really hope all of this gets handled. Peep the video to their biggest commercial hit "I Need a Hot Girl" below.

My condolences to Turk and his family. Thank Nik for the heads up!

Shortly after, another video appeared on the web of Drake from the Sprite Step Off competition this past weekend in Atlanta. In the video, he speaks on his and Nicki Minaj's refusal to be a part of the list. Peep the video.

Hmmm, interesting. I wonder who will be the last 4 videos XXL has yet to reveal.

OPINION WORLD: Sprite Step Off 2010 Winners Are.... ZETA TAU ALPHA?!? UPDATED

2010-02-24T21:26:00.006-06:00

I am a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. As a result, I of course, have a vested interest in Black Greek life and Greek life in general. I had the pleasure of attending the Chicago finals for the Sprite Step Off Challenge. Deservingly, the men of Alpha Phi Alpha and the women of Alpha Kappa Alpha won and qualified for the next round.

I didn't find the show to be incredibly breathtaking as a whole. I feel the Annual Greek Scene event hosted at my alma mater, Illinois State University, usually presented a better show. But I digress. The finals for the step competition were held in Atlanta and the winners were announced. In a (not so) surprising move, the women of Zeta Tau Alpha, a historically white sorority, took the crown. Peep their performance below.

First and foremost, they did a good job. But that isn't what I am here to address.

Before I get into the Greek portion of this discussion, let me first address the obvious. This is a white sorority with white steppers in an event that is catered to black fraternities and sororities and black steppers. This is MY blog, so I am going to state my opinion. We (as in Black people) have been and will always be representative of what is popular culture. We know that as we watch people emulate our style, our creativity, our finesse. Our culture is rich and full of history. This history includes Black Greek life. Say what you want about the rumors or stories associated with being a Black Greek, but as a whole, I find the experience to be both enriching and essential to who I am today.

In my experience as a Black Greek, I have learned the meaning behind many of the traditions we do. Many of them are sacred to us and hold special meaning. Some are newer than others, but the age does not determine the weighted value of the tradition. Yes, the Black Greek system has its roots in Masonic beliefs and traditions. Yes, Black Greek organizations mirrored that of white Greek organizations when we as a people were not allowed to become members of the organization. Symbolic hand signs, strolling, and stepping were uniquely Black Greek experiences. Line jackets, "ship names," and "line names" also developed.

The Black Greek experience has been watered down due to popular culture. But we've seen that done with just about everything. The difference is many traditions in Black Greek life are sealed in secrecy. The issue with watering down specific traditions that are essential to the Black Greek experience is the public doesn't see the value. I will not go into a long and storied history of movies like "School Daze" and "Stomp the Yard" and their effect on Black Greek life.

My focus are the women of Zeta Tau Alpha and their win in the Sprite Step Off. I am not an early Malcolm X (though I do idolize him). I do not believe we need to create separation to achieve equality. I do, however, feel that some things to need to be held sacred to maintain unique cultural identities. There are conflicting views of the orgins of stepping within BGLOs. Despite the dispute, is it not a Black thing?!? I find it disturbing that a white sorority would even consider entering a competition that is aimed towards Black fraternities and sororities. Even the advertising was clearly aimed towards us. My Line Sister and Pledge Daughter taped the local commercial for the event!

What have we lost as Black Greek lettered organizations? I am not saying our focus should instead be primarly stepping. But aren't BGLOs multi-faceted? Isn't the beauty of our organizations that we know how to incorporate the social aspect with the academic and political and service points of our respective fraternities and sororities? Is anything sacred?

I commend Zeta Tau Alpha for a good show. But I am also worried that traditions of value that are unique to the Black Greek experience are being lost. I am in no way dissing Zeta Tau Alpha. The did really well. What do you think?!

Your thoughts are GREATLY appreciated.

*UPDATE*
An official Sprite spokesperson released this statement via the Facebook group.

"The Sprite Step Off was initially created as a way to recognize talented college students and give out scholarships to help support their higher education. If we put on some entertaining step shows and brought people together along the way, all the better.

After the National Finals Competition this past weekend in Atlanta wrapped, we got together to do our post-competition review and found a scoring discrepancy in the sorority results. After looking at it and looking at it AGAIN, we determined there isn’t a definitive resolution.

Sprite is all about preserving the honesty and integrity of this competition. Because the scoring discrepancy can’t be resolved and due to the really tight margin between the first and second place sorors, we feel that the only right thing to do is to name both Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Tau Chapter & Zeta Tau Alpha, Epsilon Chapter, co-first place winners of the Sprite Step Off.

With these revised results, we’re gonna increase Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Tau Chapter’s scholarship prize to $100K, consistent with what Zeta Tau Alpha also got for their first prize winnings.

Thanks again to everyone who helped make The Sprite Step Off happen. And to one last stroll in the name of unity..."

The women of Alpha Kappa Alpha, Tau Chapter, were bumped up to first place as well. Here is the OTHER winning performance... smh

What is the credibility of the competition looking like now?

MUSIC WORLD: Yung Berg Robbed... AGAIN?!?!

2010-02-24T11:49:00.003-06:00

I said I wasn't gonna comment via my Twitter page. But I've been laughing about it all morning. Here's a brief synopsis of events.

TMZ said Yung Berg was a victim of a robbery during a house party. The assailants left with $10K work of jewelry and money. In the process, Yung Berg got pistol whipped.

The denial began right after. Yung Berg's publicist says his client was in Las Vegas, not L.A. during the alleged incident. Yung Berg then found it very necessary to release a video with his explanation of events. He claims TMZ fabricated the whole story. Peep the video below.

Why does he need to release a video you ask?? Yung Berg has been the victim of multiple robberies, assaults, and down right disrespectful actions since he hit the scene. Needless to say, his "street cred" is constantly in question (if he has any left).

GOSSIP WORLD: Keyshia Had Her Baby?!; T.I. Spoils Tiny; No More J. Lo Songs?!

2010-02-24T10:23:00.007-06:00

According to The YBF, it looks like Keyshia Cole may have finally dropped her baby.

YBF posted a pic of Keyshia's sister's Twitter post from last night.
Unfortunately, Necole Bitchie has confirmed that is not true and Elite posted the tweet as a stunt. Smh... When it does happen, I am sure there will be official congrats to Keyshia and Boobie on their new baby. I wonder if he will be a junior.

In other baby news, Christinia Milian is STILL pregnant with The Dream's baby. Word on the street, the little girl's name will be Violet.

Cute. And make sure you listen to his new song "Love King." He's got a family to support. You know Ms. Milian isn't bringing in any money. #imjustsayin

T.I. is still giving his ride or die Tiny stuff while he's serving the rest of his term. He recently added a Porche Panamera Turbo to the long list of gifts.

With two engagement rings and plethora of gifts, I wonder when they are gonna get married officially. Word has it shortly after his release. But there were also rumors they'd get married before he went to jail. So we shall see.

In other (less interesting) news, Jenny from the Block is has been dumped. Jennifer Lopez has been dropped from Sony.

Maybe it had something to do with this weak a** performance...

But do not fret J. Lo fans. She has reportedly signed another deal with an undisclosed label. Her new album, Love, is expected to be released this summer through her new label. Jennifer Lopez will also be the guest host on this week's Saturday Night Live. The world is at peace now.

MOVIE WORLD: Richard Pryor Movie

2010-02-24T09:51:00.005-06:00

There have been rumors a of Richard Pryor movie with Eddie Murphy playing the title character since Richard Pryor's death. It seemed appropriate since Richard Pryor was obviously a heavy influence on Eddie Murphy's comedic style. But the movie execs have sought someone a bit younger for the role.
Marlon Wayans, most famous for "White Chicks" and the "Scary Movie" franchise has won the role of Richard Pryor. Days after the official announcement, the internet was in an uproar insisting Eddie Murphy, or even Mike Epps would be a better pic for the role.

I actually like Marlon Wayans and I think he can do it. He has great comedic timing and is one of the more talented Wayans family members in my opinion. In a recent LA Times interview, he commented on the naysayers:

"Look, I want to be able to make the stupidest movies ever, because they make people laugh and they make money... But that's not all I want to do. And I think I've proven to some people -- the ones paying attention -- that I can do more. Everybody else, well, they can wait and see and make up their mind."

The movie 'Richard Pryor: "Is it Something I Said?"' is being produced by Happy Madison and Sony.

Until the movie, enjoy one of my favorite clips from Richard Pryor's standup "Live on the Sunset Strip. He discusses his experiences with love.
