This Pup Is A Swimmer

2017-04-27T08:40:00.002-04:00

While out and about looking at homes for sale we spotted a game of fetch. This cute pup is a swimmer! This lake and small park is in one of the neighborhoods we like very much.
When I saw the mom throw that Big stick I asked hubby to do a U turn. So glad I had my camera because it was simply too far for my cell phone camera.
I wanted to go and meet the mom of this pup, but we had an appointment to see a house.
Our Roxy and Rambo love playing fetch, but Roxy doesn't care for water and Rambo is a swimmer and will play fetch all day.
Can you pick a favorite??

Spring Chicks

2017-04-19T13:08:00.005-04:00

Our backyard Wrenns have four new mouths to feed. We've been helping just a bit by putting out meal worms daily. :) They're so cute and we're enjoying watching them learn to fly.

this pic made me laugh until I cried! lol

not good lighting, but you can see them together. :)

Happy Easter, Friends.

Our Kitty, Fox & Seeing Beautiful

2017-04-14T08:30:00.000-04:00

Fox was sitting on my lap and I snapped a pic of him. He was taking a break from playing tag with his siblings. :)
Hubby has a three day weekend, so we're going shopping together for Easter dinner groceries.
Do you have anything special that you make for Easter that is a tradition or family favorite?

Today we remember Sugar by Seeing Beautiful...
Sugar will remain in my heart and so many others. She had a fetching smile and and such happy & loving eyes.

Baby, Sandra's beautiful girl and Duke, Ann's handsome boy, had smiles that were contagious and are missed dearly.
Baby had the most beautiful eyes I've ever seen. Duke just knew he was royalty. :)
Our furbabies always make us See Beautiful and feel loved.

The link to Sugar's blog is on my sidebar, her Mom would love to hear from you.

Enjoying Spring

2017-04-10T17:00:00.000-04:00

Thank you for the birthday wishes, it was a wonderful day! I had my family with me all day and night and that is, and always will be, what puts a smile on my face. :) I must show you a few of my favorite gifts.

We've been having perfect weather! Sunshine everyday and birds singing their little hearts out.
We've had such a treat watching our Carolina Wrenn's bring their four babies to our deck. They are the definition of PRECIOUS. :)

To Hootin' Anni..I bought some organic kale at Publix and I love it. :) I've already been changing my diet, but adding kale is one of the best changes I could have made, so thank you. :)

My Birthday

2017-04-05T08:35:00.002-04:00

Today is my birthday, I'm a spring baby!
My parents told me there were flowers blooming everywhere and the sun was shining on the day they took me home from the hospital. :)
Spring has always been my favorite season, but after having my baby boy in the summer there just might be a tie. :) Do you have a favorite season?
My day will start with a doctor's appt., endocrine, and continue with family, food, sunshine, and hopefully some cake and flowers, basically a lot of fun. :)

Hope you have lots of sunshine in your day!

Happy Spring!

2017-03-20T19:21:00.001-04:00

Our first day of spring was gorgeous! The pups and I spent a lot of time outside. I enjoyed so many birds and squirrels visiting and pigging out on bird seed, suet, sunflower seeds and peanuts. The robins enjoyed a nice bath. :) Hopefully this weather will continue through the weekend, love having cookouts.

How was your first day of spring?

Birthdays

2017-03-09T15:47:00.001-05:00

Hey everyone. Hope everyone is enjoying some beautiful March weather. I've been out a few days with sinus issues. I'll be catching up on everyone's posts soon. :)
We just celebrated hubby's birthday a few days ago and yesterday Roxanne enjoyed cupcakes for her 12th birthday. :)
Next up is my uncle's birthday and then my dad's birthday :)

We love you so much, Roxanne-Love.
Happy Birthday, beautiful girl. :)

She didn't eat the candle. lol
We made six cupcakes, so there was enough for all pups. :)

I spy a Carolina Wren

2017-02-28T12:16:00.003-05:00

This little guy checked all around before taking a big plunge. I was inside and he was on our lower deck. We have this bird bath for the little birds. :)

Flowers Make Me Smile

2017-02-24T10:07:00.000-05:00

The flowers are from Valentine's Day. I love having fresh flowers anytime, they just make me smile. I'm a little behind with this post but that's what happens when a very entertaining Crow decides to pay a visit. BTW...he's been back everyday. :)

It's Friday and for us that means the house needs to be cleaned, laundry finished and groceries bought, so we're ready to enjoy the weekend. I usually make sure all of this is done on Thursdays so I can do whatever on Fridays. :)

Hubby and my dad are excited because Nascar starts back this weekend. Any Nascar fans out there? Or wives of Nascar fans? ha ha!

Day Three & Finale of The Crow

2017-02-21T11:37:00.001-05:00

This is what I found when googling do Crows bury food...

Crows sometimes will bury food in the the yard and cover it with leaves or grass. They also hide food in trees or rain gutters, or another spot. Like squirrels, crows will retrieve the stored food when needed.

I always wonder how good are the squirrels are at finding their buried food now I'm wondering how well of a memory do the crows have when it comes time to find their food.
I was sure that we videoed the Crow burying food. I'll do some searching on my cell phone or backup inventory. I would love to show you all.

I don't mind the Crow and his crew visiting. I just hope it's not too often because they will scare of my visiting song birds and cute squirrel families. :)
I have really enjoyed the Crow stories everyone shared! Crows can be so funny!
Animals are truly Amazing!

The Crow flew off to sit High in a tree and started squawking. He was even bobbing like crazy but no one ever came and he flew away.
He or she really is gorgeous.

Day Two of The Crow

2017-02-19T12:30:00.000-05:00

I've really enjoyed hearing about your Crow experiences. If you didn't see my blog post from yesterday you should go there to read about some blogger's encounters with these smart birds.
I remember one day hubby and I got food from Chick-fil-A and ate in a nearby parking lot. Our windows were down and here came a few Crows. It was as if they had done this before, beg people for some crumbs. lol I started throwing pieces of waffle fries to them, not many because they're so yummy haha! and they're full of salt. Anyway, one Crow started burying some of the pieces! I had never seen any bird bury food before and I haven't seen it since.
I'm super curious, have any of you seen a bird bury food??

Happy Sunday to you!

Day One of The Crow

2017-02-18T10:26:00.000-05:00

I was sitting at our high top table when I heard a Crow start squawking. I love sitting here when I'm online because if they're any critters out back then I'm sure to see them. Anyway, I'm sure you've heard Crows squawk when they find something good and they're telling their entire crew about it. lol The next thing I know this Crow comes swooping down over the birdbath straight to the peanut butter suet, scaring off two doves from the birdbath in the process.
None of the crew ever showed, but this Crow really enjoyed himself and I really enjoyed the show. Here's some of the photos, I'll have more later.
BTW..Happy Saturday! Hope the sun is shining on you as brightly as it is here. :)

Happy Valentine's Day

2017-02-14T15:22:00.000-05:00

Happy Valentine's Day, friends!
Do you have special plans for this day of love? We will be having a family cookout and enjoying the nice weather. There may be some chocolate involved at some point since hubby and son both know how it puts a smile on my face. :)

Much love to you all,
Marie

Eastern Blue Birds

2017-02-08T12:09:00.000-05:00

This is my grandmother's favorite bird, they really are beautiful. She and I share the same passion for animals.
The birds sure do enjoy the holly berries in our backyard and I enjoy watching the entire bush shake when all of a sudden it's as if they just found this buffet. lol Some days there's only a couple of Wrens out back and other days it's a like a festival of birds, which we very much enjoy.
The very first bird I helped rescue was a baby Mocking bird. I was about seven and dad and I raised him or her until it was ready to be on it's own and flew away. Do you have a favorite bird? It's a challenge for me to choose only one but, Cardinals have always caught my eye. :)

Merlin the Mole that is actually a Vole lol

2017-02-05T16:16:00.003-05:00

On Saturday we saw the neighbor's cat playing with some little critter in our front yard. Hubby ran outside and scooped up the critter. Turned out to be a young mole. He seemed to enjoy being held. We snapped a few photos then son released him in our backyard. We have a lot of moles around. My dad believes God gaves us moles to keep the ground aerated.
Kyle named him Merlin. :) I thought it was a fitting name seeing that he disappeared into the ground in a flash. :)

Is anyone watching the superbowl tonight? We pre-ordered pizza and wings yesterday from our favorite place..Johnny's.

Apparently moles get blamed for damage they don't cause. For some mole facts click this link: Facts about moles
My friend Sandra, aka MadSnapper, has just informed me that we had a Vole not a Mole. We should have noticed the difference because we've seen moles before, but I thought this one was just young. We will have to keep an eye out for him. :)

Thank you, Sandra, aka...MadSnapper.

Is Merlin cute or what?! He seemed to enjoy being held.

First Day of February

2017-02-01T17:32:00.003-05:00

My first day of February started off with spring like weather. I sat outside watching my pups play while I enjoyed a glass of sweet iced tea and the birds were singing. I wish it were the weekend and everyone was home to enjoy a cookout. Hopefully the perfect weather will carry on through the weekend. Hope you enjoyed a pretty first day of February.

I'll share a few photos that I took while enjoying today's weather. In the first photo Rocket is peeking at me. :)

Top Notch Cuteness

2017-01-28T09:29:00.000-05:00

Hubby & I watched "Super Squirrel" on National
Geographic channel a couple of nights ago. It was so funny!
God gave these little rascals some serious talents and built in tools.
If you get the chance to watch it I highly recommend it. :)

Sharing all this cuteness with my friends.
Happy weekend!

this is a youngster and must be hungry to be so far from a tree.

this one is building a nest.
he or she took a break on this branch and then jumped
to a large pine tree and straight to the top this cutie went.

my grandmother loves blue birds.
I love my grandma. :)

Love to hear our Carolina Wrenns sing.
Most of the time it's the first bird I hear in the morning
and the Cardinals are usually the last bird I hear in the evening.

Birds, Dogs, a Squirrel & Snow

2017-01-26T07:34:00.000-05:00

It was only one day of snow, which is pleanty for me, and we made the best of it. We made sure to put plenty of food out for all our critter visitors. And inside we had lots of yummy food cooking in our new pressure cooker. We made open faced roast beef sandwiches, I had been having a craving. It turned out yummy!
Anyone still getting snow? I think 55 degrees mixed with sunshine is a perfect day.

sitting patiently, ready for the snow

Short Sweet Snow in January 2017

2017-01-15T18:29:00.000-05:00

Last weekend we were expecting 6" to 10" of snow in Cary/Raleigh, NC which would've been nice, instead we got little snow and too much rain..ice. We still enjoyed our three whole inches. lol We put extra food out for the critters and the pups really enjoyed it, it seems to energize them! As for us, it was so pretty to see. I don't think I would be happy having snow for more than a week. I guess it's because at heart I'm a Florida girl. :)

I'm curious, are you living in the state you truly desire or does your heart desire somewhere different? If so, where?

here's our pups with their boy Kyle.
make sure to turn up the volume so you can hear Kyle laughing and Rambo barking. :)

Happy 2017!

2017-01-01T20:59:00.000-05:00

Happy new year! Hope everyone enjoyed their first day of 2017. We stayed home to bring in the new year with lots of food, cards & board games and it was so much fun. We even had fireworks close by. :)
Did you stay in or go to a celebration or do you have any new year's eve traditions that you follow?

Happy 2017! Hope the year brings you much happiness and joy!

This is a happy 2016 memory to share with you. :)

This is a precious young bird that flew into our sliding glass door.
My son immediately went to help it. He held it for a few minutes until it was ready to fly again.

We think it's a part of the Warbler family.

Christmas Eve

2016-12-24T09:34:00.000-05:00

Merry Christmas Eve! I've been baking, spending time with family, wrapping gifts and listening to Christmas music! I turn it up loud and dance in the kitchen..it's the best, our pups even love it!
Merry Christmas to you!

Love is what it's all about..

Roxy enjoying an early present.

This is how I roll when it comes to baking. haha
however, I will make my Chocolate Raspberry cake from scratch :)

These are sooo gooood!
They're my dad and hubby's favorite. :)

sweet memories...

Love you so much, Mom & Dad...

Backyard Fox

2016-12-16T09:00:00.000-05:00

This cute fox was in our backyard just a couple of days before Thanksgiving. He or she was on the move and I was taking pics through our sliding glass doors. We're aware of a fox den not far from our home, which is sad because we live in the city and the roads are busy.
About a month ago our son was coming home around 1 a.m. and saw a deceased fox in the road. He pulled over and moved him to under a tree. He told us that he could hear another fox crying not far away. Their den is nearby where the fox was found, so the others were probably watching my son. Here in Cary if you call and report there's an animal on the road or roadside they will come and pick it up. We now have that number in all of our cell phones.
As far as our cute visitor, I sure enjoyed watching him or her...absolutely beautiful.

what a sweet face

love those eyes and ears

look how well camouflaged

he must be eating suet, birdseed and maybe a few peanuts

Animals Deserve Better

2016-12-08T09:56:00.000-05:00

Have you ever read or heard a story of animal abuse and wish you could ignore it or wished you had never heard it? It would be easier to not think about it, but then who would be their voice? We need to know what is happening and how bad it is so we don't ignore how animals are being abused. Animals that are pets, animals that are being consumed for food, animals being bred illegally just for a few dollars or given away for free on Craigslist. A lot of these animals end up being used for fighting or for bait which is what cats and smaller dogs are used for, I can't stand the thought of this.
I'm not a good person to help at shelters, I would be crying too much and trying to bring them all home. :( This is probably why I've always made donations of some sort and also help spread the word to people that animals sometimes need a helping hand and not to ignore them if you see them struggling on the side of the road or in a backyard being abused or in a hot car...please don't ignore, just call for help. Everyone can make a difference. Even signing online petitions, it's not easy to read these stories I know, but it's a start to helping animals. I can't believe I still eat meat, I don't eat much and we no longer eat Butterball. I've called more than one large corporation to make them aware that I've seen the videos of animal abuse on their farms, not really farms, really prisons and that my family will no longer buy their products. It's sad when all they care about is money.

As far as wildlife, I know it's easy to become frustrated with them at times. Maybe if we put ourselves in their shoes then maybe we would understand wanting to build a nest in that chimney because we want to keep our family warm. Maybe they feel frustrated with humans for invading their space because we do each and every day.
Shortly after moving to NC a man here in Cary was arrested for tying a young Siberian Husky to a tree and stabbing him several times with a sword. The neighbor called 911 and the dog's cries were recorded in the call. He was sentenced to 100 days in jail. What do you think, is 100 days enough? I personally feel there should be fines, jail time and counseling and ordered to never own or work around animals.

Hope I didn't bring anyone down today. I know there's a lot of good people out there helping animals, but there's never too many. Rescues for domestic and wildlife accept all types of donations including food, old towels, paper towels, crates, etc.. So, if you're planning to pay a visit why not ask your neighbors, family, friends at church or work to make a donation as well. :)

Here is the video from The LAD Bible that sparked my post.
Please watch, it's very short, it shows two rescue pups becoming best friends. :)

Bath time for Robins

2016-11-13T10:20:00.001-05:00

Yesterday morning our backyard was full of Robins all wanting to take a bath at the same time. You can see, by their expressions, that some weren't too happy to share the tub. :) It looks like they may be family. ha ha
