She follows in the footstep of the global superstar Lady Gaga, who won the award in 2010 and Justn Bieber who won last year. </P><P>Lana Del Rey faced competition from Aloe Blacc, Grammy award winning Bon Iver, Foster The People and Nicki Minaj but triumphed over the stiff competition posed by her fellow nominees. In her acceptance speech, she thanked her British fans, saying "This award means much more to me than you know and I just want to say that without the support of everyone is this room and everyone in the Uk I'd really be lost so thank you, I love you." Will.i.am of Black Eyed Peas announced the winner of the award, with the comedian Rob Brydon. When her name was called, Lana walked to the stage, with her song 'Video Games' cued up to play "it's you, it's you, it's all for you." She began her speech by saying "this award means much more to me than you know," the emotion audible in her voice. </P><P>Lana Del Rey has divided critics, many of whom have been disappointed by her live performances, following her much-loved debut single 'Video Games.' "The dieting has got to stop," she told Brentwood School students at the It's Our Turn conference in Los Angeles earlier this month. "Everyone just knock it off. Because at the end of the day, it's affecting kids your age -- and it's making girls sick." </p><p><img alt="2012-02-18-tstandingbowcopy.jpg" src="/2012-02-18-tstandingbowcopy.jpg" width="320" height="448" style="float: left; margin:10px"/></p><p>The 25-year-old American artiste formerly known as Stefani Joanne Germanotta may still be struggling, but she looks great and she's doing great things, especially giving timely advice to teens. One of the reasons the popular princess of pop is doing so well is the compassionate advice she's been getting from her private yoga teacher Tricia Donegan.</p><p>Yup, that's the very same yoga teacher whose praises Gaga sang of last spring on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, and I subsequently interviewed for The Huffington Post</em>. Donegan, the owner and director of New York's Bikram Yoga Lower East Side, stepped out of her hot yoga studio once again to answer her "celly," as she calls her cell phone, and a few questions about how to end America's addiction to being skinny. </p><p>As she did in our first interview, Donegan talked about some of the same things I talk about with my clients, like losing weight with loving-kindness. What follows are highlights from our most recent long-distance chat. </p><p><strong>Q. I imagine you must get clients on all kinds of diets. What are your thoughts on dieting? </strong></em></p><p><strong>A.</strong> Not only are a lot of clients on all different kinds of diets, they're on all different kinds of antidepressants and anti-anxiety medicines. I find it goes hand in hand. I have clients doing juice diets, clients who fast, clients who stop eating, clients who are "breatharians." When the clients are able to work harder at being nice to themselves than the actual effort that's going into losing calories, the calories seem to drop. Not only do the calories seem to drop initially and continuously, it seems to last. Because they haven't just changed their mode of dieting, they've actually made an internal change. When people put more effort on being nice to themselves, the weight is easy. Try it other way around, weight is awful. If they get a little bit off, it comes right back. Then they try something different because that didn't work. And they keep going around and around and around, trying something different.</p><p><strong>Q. What do you tell clients who are hooked on dieting? </strong></em></p><p><strong>A.</strong> I don't use the word "diet" -- it's an awful word. Whole foods are best. Eating slow is best. Most important is self-compassion. If clients can be nice to themselves, they'll slowly make that internal change. So when they get thin, no matter what happens in their life, they can maintain that status quo. One of the goals I have for clients is to understand that their only goal is to be the best they can be that day, that minute, that moment. Then there's no problem being nice to yourself.</p><p><strong>Q. How do you work with clients who struggle with serious eating issues?</strong></em></p><p><strong>A.</strong> The first step: I try to create a safe place [in my studio]. I have clients sign a safety contract. Basically it says they are willing to work on accepting they have an eating disorder, and they're willing to work on it. In turn, I'm willing to work with them. It says they're going to read your book or join a chat group or [use any of the] many resources that are out there. The next step: We go through and see what kind of healthy eating they can do rather than diet eating. The third step: When we start to practice yoga, we start every session with five minutes of self-compassion practice. It's great to be committed to any kind of practice as long as you can figure out how to do it differently every day, so you don't check out during it. </p><p><strong>Q. You look like you the picture of health and fitness, but have you ever struggled with your weight or body image? </strong></em></p><p><strong>A.</strong> I am the "American dream." I am a woman. I own a business. I have a family. I have a kid. I run around like crazy to maintain that "American Dream." In America, it's very hard for anyone not to become addicted to being skinny. I am in the business of wellbeing, and I find myself having to spend more time during my day than I'd like to on how I physically look so I can attract America into my studio and then sneak the wellbeing into them. I've watched myself change. I grew up with Madonna and her biceps. She was very inspirational at that point in my life. Now I'm trying to figure out what serves me. When you're older, your priorities change. It's not about dropping calories, it's about strengthening your bones and organs, being able to be there to watch your family grow.</p><p><strong>Q. Given that over-exercising can be a form of bulimia, I imagine you see some number of clients who use Bikram to purge themselves of unwanted calories. How do you help clients who are over-exercising?</strong></em> </p><p><strong>A.</strong> Overexercising is an addiction. What we try to do as yoga teachers and practitioners is learn how to respond and not to react. Over-exercising, in my opinion, is usually a reaction to what just happened. It's like, "I'm going to be able to eat all this because, later on, my reaction is going to counteract that." When you're aware of your addictions, you're able to change them. Even though Bikram is an awesome calorie burner, it's also yoga, and we still build awareness in how to respond rather than react. If you do that, you won't be able to over-exercise. Yoga and self-compassion practice both build awareness, so you're only doing things that serve your body and your brain. </p><p><strong>Q. Anything we didn't get to that you'd like to add?</strong></em></p><p><strong>A.</strong> Right now, the most exciting thing happening is our future Lower Eastside Girls Club. They've got the land, they've got the money, and they're building a 30,000-square foot place just for girls. There's going to be a wellness center, a yoga center, a body-image center, a bakery, a social-media center, a planetarium... The money [including $20,000 raised by Bikram Lower East Side's monthly Nite Sweats fundraiser] is donated by like-minded people who understand what changes the world, and how to do it. After celebrating its 500th episode last night, animated comedy sitcom "The Simpsons" revealed that Lady Gaga will be starring in the upcoming season finale." src="/221133-lady-gaga.jpg"> <P>After celebrating its 500th episode Sunday night, animated comedy sitcom "The Simpsons" revealed Lady Gaga will be starring in the upcoming season finale.</P><P>"Since the very beginning, I've always wanted to have on the most iconic personalities of our time, and she's it," said creator Matt Groening, to Entertainment Weekly.</P><P>Finishing up its 23rd season, "The Simpsons" has become the longest-running scripted show on television. The cartoon officially debuted on Dec. 17, 1989, and is contracted to continue for the next two years. </P><B>Like us on Facebook</B> </P><P>"The great thing about having Lady Gaga is that she came in a number of times and always with a different getup," Groening said to E! Online. "She'd leave the room and come back in after a break with a completely new getup. It was unbelievable. The only time she ever took off her hat was when it was banging into the microphone."</P><P>The finale episode will be called "Lisa Goes Gaga," in which the fashion pop icon will visit Springfield to cheer her up.</P><P>"I play a little bit of a slut," Gaga said of her appearance in the episode according to Entertainment Weekly. "The apple doesn't fall far from my artistic tree."</P><P>Some other noteworthy celebrity cameos on the Simpsons over the years include British comedian Ricky Gervais, Coldplay's Chris Martin, and country legend Johnny Cash.</P><P>Although the animated comedy has been airing for over 20 years, cast member Nancy Cartwright said there are other celebrities she would like to work with, too.</P><P>"I've always wanted to work with Hugh Jackman," the Bart Simpson voice actress told E! Online. "They'd do a song and dance and that'd be fun! A musical! I think that the next movie that they do should actually be a musical and get all these guys: Lady Gaga, Michael Buble and Josh Groban."</P><P>In August, when Gaga recorded her voice-overs for the episode, she revealed that voice acting was a new experience for her.</P><P>"I make music, but I don't do voice-overs every day of the week," the 25-year-old pop celebrity told Entertainment Weekly. "Their characters are so awesomely convincing and sincere and wild and funny. Kinney is playing "adrenaline-junkie" Squad Lt. Kelly Severide, the leader of elite firefighters who respond to the most dangerous fires or rescue operations, the site reported. <P>Kinney most recently has been in local and national news as the boyfriend of singer Lady Gaga, who has joined him in Lancaster on visits with his family, who still lives in Manheim Township. <P>The couple met when filming Gaga's video for her song "You and I." <P>At Lancaster Mennonite, Kinney was a star on its volleyball court and was Section Two Player of the Year in volleyball in 2000, the year he graduated. <P>Kinney, who was not involved in acting in high school, went to West Virginia University after leaving the county. Suggested, mind you, but never said outright.</P><P>Some listeners, apparently, agreed with the Queen of Pop's insinuation, and proceeded to throw more fuel on the fire via the social modes of Facebook and Twitter.</P><P>So was Madonna ever really suspicious of Gaga, or is this all fan-fueled media hype?</P><P>A new story in Rolling Stone </EM>doesn't do much to clear up the misunderstanding. In reference to the supposed feud, Madge told the music publication of note, "I thought, this is a wonderful way to redo my song. I mean, I recognized the chord changes. I thought it was...interesting."</P><P>Ouch.</EM> Talk about damning with faint praise.</P><P>The plot thickened when MTV News released a section of the Rolling Stone </EM>interview that never made it into print. Apparently Madonna called Lady Gaga's song "reductive," and when the interviewers asked her if that was a good thing or a bad thing Madonna told them to "look it up."</P><P>If I were Madonna I would tread lightly around this one. Lady Gaga's last album sold over 1.1 million copies. Participate in the debate below and win the opportunity to cover Lady Gaga's Born This Way Foundation launch event with Oprah on February 29. </STRONG></P><P>Jury selection has begun in the trial of in the trial of Dharun Ravi, the former Rutgers University student charged with using a webcam to spy on his roommate Tyler Clementi, who later committed suicide.</P><P>The case against Ravi began on Sept. 19, 2010, when he sent the following Twitter message: “Roommate asked for the room till midnight. I went into molly’s room and turned on my webcam. I saw him making out with a dude. Yay.” Authorities say he also used a web camera in his dormitory room to stream Clementi's intimate encounter live on the Internet. Three days later, Clementi committed suicide. Ravi faces 15 counts, including bias intimidation, a hate crime which carries a possible sentence of 10 years in prison.</P><P>Clementi's case highlights the seriousness of anti-gay bullying, a problem which has particularly impacted high school teenagers dealing with the complicated issues of gender, sexuality, and difference. Multiple bullied gay teenagers have committed suicide in the past several years.</P><P>To address this issue, internationally-renowned pop star Lady Gaga and her mother, Cynthia Germanotta, are launching the Born This Way Foundation (BTWF), which will support programs and initiatives that deal with empowering youth. BTWF's mission is to "lead youth into a braver new society where each individual is accepted and loved as the person they were born to be." </P><P>Gaga has been a stand-alone leader in shedding light on the issue of teen bullying. She met with President Obama to discuss the bullying epidemic in high schools after the suicide of 14-year-old Jamey Rodemeyer. When news broke of his death in September 2011, Gaga tweeted, "The past days I've spent reflecting, crying, and yelling. I have so much anger. The apple doesn’t fall far from my artistic tree.”</P><P>Uh oh. Is Gaga going to be a bad influence on the sweet and wholesome Lisa Simpson? Will she teach her how to dance?
