I decided this weekend was in a need of relaxation, catching up and sweet indulgences. It's refreshing to take a break from all the college weekend recreational activities, if you know what I mean. I'm counting down the days until my return home for my brother's big wedding day and I'm more exciting with each passing day. If everything goes well this quarter, I think I might reward myself with an exciting trip up to the East coast to see a particular familiar face. It's funny to think that I haven't seen this close girlfriend of mine ever since our high school graduation. Things are still in the works, but I can't imagine how great photos will turn out in the Big Apple.

As promised, my blogging activity will return back to its normal routines. Hence, the extra photos for your viewing pleasure. It's funny to think that I haven't gotten the chance to take any photos in downtown LA. But here are a few, just across campus, and possible a new location to call home. Fortunately, this week's weather turned around for the better and it almost felt like summer. So I opted for this yellow top I got back home. The bright mustard yellow and polka dots definitely got my day going. Next time you're feeling low, wear a bright color - it's an instant uplifter.

Year of the Dragon

It has been awhile hasn't it? The start of 2012 has been great, but I can't help feeling overwhelmed. The list of things to do just seem never-ending. However, it was Chinese New Year on Monday and I celebrated it with close friends who understood the significance of this event. Although the food wasn't as festive as to what I'm used to, but I guess it's as close to home as I can get. I've been feeling a little, unmotivated, uninspired and pretty much over such petty routines. I can barely get through the day without a cup of coffee. I guess I'm almost on the same page as everyone around me. People aren't as excited to go to class like they used to be, I guess it's cause of first quarter butterflies. Hoping there would be some spontaneous elements of life coming my way soon. On the other hand, I will be returning home next month for a special event and I can't wait to see the faces of my loved ones. I'm also planning a great trip for spring break, I'm in need of an inspiring vacation.

I know it's a tad bit late, but Happy New Year everyone! What did you get up to for new years? It's that time of year again for new resolutions and goals. Personally, it's both a great and strange time of year. It is strange to me, as it always seem a little too late whenever I realize how fast time has passed by. Looking back and realizing the goals I have achieved, mistakes I have made, people I have met and the memories made, 2011 has been quite an amazing and fulfilling year. However, I have a great feeling that 2012 has something wonderful in store for me. I'm looking forward to meeting new faces, achieving one step closer to my ambitions and maybe even love will find it's way to me again.

Happiest Place On Earth

The days for sleeping in, late nights, stuffing our faces and ridiculously damaging habits are slowly running out, so we decided to spend the day at the happiest place on earth - Disneyland. My friends are adrenaline junkies so we went to the Disney California Adventure for the amazing rides. Needless to say, I have had a wonderful time meeting these people and have grown strangely comfortable with each other. To be honest, I was expecting the Disney castle, parades and princesses, but I guess I can always visit that another time. That's probably why I opted for a loose top with subtle polka dot detailing, cause it made me feel a tad bit princessy. And on the plus side, I found this top at a flea market for $10 and apparently it's from Forever21, personally, that's an amazing find and a great bargain.

My Elf package is finally here! It's been awhile since I've ordered these items, but I think it was worth the wait for the small price I paid. Elf continues to amaze me with decent quality for such an affordable price point. Of course, you shouldn't be expecting high end quality from these products, but they sure do the work from day to day. My personal favorite purchase is the 4 piece brush set, because it is made out of entirely eco-friendly materials and is charity supported. It has been awhile since I've posted an entry on makeup, but rest assured my passion for makeup and beauty still remains with me to this day.

It has surprisingly been a nice few days since school's out. Walks around town, dinners, movies and cheap wine - turned into such great bonding time with a friend of mine. I have been in love with this new knit dress that I got recently. I just love the multicolored pattern and how warm it keeps me. Reindeers On Rooftops

I have finally gotten two essential fall/winter pieces that I've been wanting for a very long time. A maroon, floppy hat and a faux fur vest! And of course, all at affordable prices, because that's what I'm all about. It's been an interesting week so far, with the closing of finals and unexpected friendships being formed. Considering the amount of work and being swamped under those pile of notes, I have had quite a number of uncontrollable laughs and great heart-to-hearts. It amazes me how time flies by so fast, as it feels as though I have just hopped off the plane from Singapore, only yesterday. Friends are starting to pack their bags and heading home to their families. I didn't expect to be spending the holidays away from home, to be honest. But I'm sure I'll find some adventures and stories to share...or to keep.

Taking A Breather

Two of my roommates, Lauren and Aria, and I decided to go for brunch this Saturday. Since it is Lauren's favorite meal of the day, she knew where to go. I dressed the way I felt today, tired and lazy. I felt like I was channeling my inner Harry Potter today. The layered sweater, the stripes - this is as preppy as I can get. I almost felt a little boyish, too. My birthday party is coming up real soon, and there's just so many things on my to do list that I just need to do before the big day. I almost can't remember the last time I threw myself a birthday party. It seems like the older you get, the less important birthdays become, but I refuse to follow that pattern. They are important days, and needs to be celebrated with friends, family and loved ones. There's only two more weeks left of school and I can't believe I'm almost done with the first quarter of college. However, I'm starting to wish to that I could go home for Christmas. After all, it's the worst holiday to spend by yourself.

Worth The Fight

It's Thanksgiving weekend and everyone is returning home to their families and lovely home-cooked meals. This just makes me miss home and my mom's delicious turkey stuffing! So I've conquered one major project, only four more to go. I'm quite surprised at how much I've learnt in this short amount of time. And I've learnt that you can't rely on anyone, especially on something that means so much more to you than it does to them. I guess some people don't understand the meaning of consideration, but that's over with now. At least I was willing to fight and work for what I wanted.
I stuck with black and white as the colors of my outfit today - just as gloomy as the clouds today. It's also the theme I have in mind for my upcoming birthday. I already have outfits and plans all set up in my mind.

It's been such a lazy weekend and I've just been locked up in my apartment, catching up on work. I can't wait for the next two upcoming weekends as I have much more better and exciting plans than schoolwork. I was feeling a little swamped and overwhelmed so I did a little retail therapy recently. The days are getting colder so I put on this lazy, slouchy outfit to fit my mood. My hair's getting longer, enough for me to tie up now. But I can't wait to go home to my lovely, eccentric hair stylist who does my hair. I find that I'm very particular when it comes to my hair, but I trust him for any occasion.

You Are What I Call Home

It's been a stressful few days regarding work, and I know for a fact that it's not going to get any easier. The end of semesters or quarters are usually the most hectic, but somehow I enjoy the chaoticness of it all. I'm just glad that I have a few special people that I can depend on and talk to whenever I feel the need. However, everyone dear to me seems so far away and electronic communication just doesn't cut it anymore. On another note, my birthday is coming up and I'm emerging out of my last teen years - that's right I'm turning the big TWO OH, but not exactly legal yet. I've always considered my birthdays to be my own personal 'new years', making new resolutions, goals and taking on a new insight to things. I'm just hoping for a great year to come. I decided to take a break today and spoil myself to a little bit of retail therapy, which means exciting posts to come!

It's been a good start to the week and I plan to keep it that way. I find such gratification when my hard work is recognized. It's ironic that I'm in a fashion school where the majority of students find freedom and creativity to be their mantra, but I'm a nerd at heart. I get a strange satisfaction when I have accomplished my list of readings to do and that moment when I finally get to close my heavy textbooks every night. I received my first midterm back and honestly, I was surprised to see 100%, but I'm hoping for the same results to follow for my other subjects. I'm not saying that I have everything figured out, because I don't. But it's nice once in a while to have the feeling that you have everything under control. I feel as tough I have a new found independence after living away from home for a while now, and I'm liking what I'm seeing in myself.

Hello, long weekend! It's Veteran's weekend and I have the Friday off. I can't help but feel like I'm on top of things lately, and it seems like quite a miracle as I always feel swamped with errands, school and other things keeping me busy. Also, I've been receiving good feedback regarding my work, which makes me feel all the more enthusiastic and driven. It finally warmed up today and I got to wear this sheer, maroon skirt that I bought from Melrose Ave awhile ago. I have plenty of things adding onto my wardrobe wish list and I think I might go get them sometime soon :) Sick of these booties? Too bad, you'll be seeing a lot more of it as I have a shortage of shoes - don't worry, shoes are definitely on my wish list.

So I guess I have to stop denying that the weather will get any warmer, because it doesn't seem like it will happen anytime soon. Just like any other Monday, I felt a little unenthusiastic about the coming week. I threw on the first few things I found in my closet and went on with my day. Instead of pairing my sweater with jeans, shorts or tights I opted for my tutu dress that I got back in Malaysia. How I've missed the inexpensive prices of clothing and mamak food. And I found out that my sweater had pockets, it's like finding out you had spare change in the pockets of your jeans - yeah, it's a great feeling.

Another day in Los Angeles, means another day for shopping. I finally got some great basic pieces that I oh-so needed. Just a grey sweater and a black top. I find it strange that I have a very minimal amount of T-shirts in my closet. And my hair is finally long enough for me to actually play around with it, see the braids? Today I finally had the chance to wear this lace dress I bought from Melrose Avenue and my roommate kindly borrowed me her white romper from Free People. I have been wanting to wear my new black booties and I finally gotten the chance. My entire outfit is from Melrose and I have a feeling that vintage pieces will start filling up my wardrobe. I especially like my new denim, acid wash shorts, but it was definitely colder than it seems. I love the fact that I can dress up for just a three hour lecture and not look ridiculous, but at the same time just thinking about it makes me laugh. I guess it gives me a good excuse to keep up with my posts. And Happy Halloween to those who are celebrating today, I hope most of you had a better Halloweekend than I did. Gen Art Fresh Faces in Los Angeles

Last Saturday, I volunteered for the Gen Art: Fresh Faces Event at the Vibiana. I was just an usher at the event, but I got to see such amazing clothing lines from rising designers, famous faces and ate incredibly delicious pizzas across the street. The most amazing part was seeing Zoe Saldana on stage, an actor from 90210 and apparently Tyson Ritter was there, too! My favorite line for spring/summer 2012 from the show would definitely be Odylyne. I just loved the long flowy silhouettes and soft colors.
