Just reduced original oil painting Tiny Bird

These "Little Tufted Titmouse Birds" are many in my humble garden due to my bird feeders. I enjoy them.

I just reduced this painting. It's on super good Linen, The colors are mostly blues and grays with soft beige and yellows. It's a really nice #originalpainting with lots of wonderful brushstrokes and palette knife work.

Large Bold Poppy Blossoms. I painted this in 2012 and painted on it some more now in 2016 after looking at it with fresh eyes. It really needed some opposing colors some blue and bluegreen. It lacked excitement, but now it's filled with life and movement. Even a few more bees showed up for the vibrant fiesta. This is a stunning original oil painting now available for purchase.

Do you love watercolor paintings?

If you're answer is yes, but you don't like the matting and framing that comes with it, I have good news.

I can and have painted watercolors on canvas. Painting watercolors on canvas is becoming more and more popular.

There are those collectors that love their watercolors on paper, I paint many pieces on traditional support, which is paper, but there are also those, that rather have something, they can display without a frame or glass.

That is where I come in. I have painted many watercolor and ink on canvas. I did a recent commission of a larger piece you may see me paint it in this video. On the left is a detail of a watercolor and Ink that I painted on Russian Linen. Both paintings are sold, but if you contact me we can talk about your painting.

Early life

Ben Hogan was born in Stephenville, Texas and raised ten miles away in Dublin, Texas. His father Charles Hogan, a blacksmith, committed suicide when Ben was only nine years old. When Clara Hogan moved the family to Fort Worth, Texas, Ben helped the family put food on the table by delivering newspapers.

Professional Career

Early Struggles

Hogan started playing golf as a pro in 1931 at the young age of 17. He joined the PGA Tour two years later, but still had many flaws in his game, especially a very large hook in his swing. His early years as a pro were very difficult, and he went broke more than once. He left the tour and didn't return until 1937 . He did not win his first pro tournament until 1938, nine years after first turning pro. Hogan's wife Valerie believed in him, and this helped see him through the tough years, when he was still battling his hook, which he later cured

Swing change, start of success

When Hogan's struggles continued, he decided to switch his mechanics, a move that would change his career. John Omicinski, writing for Gannett News Service said, "(Hogan) lost his duckhook and start smashing shots of such purity that people came from miles around just to watch them fly.

I used to visit #Jekyll #Island off the #Georgia #Coast almost yearly about 20 years ago. I stopped doing it about ten years ago. The last time I went and stayed for a few days, was with my mother who visited from Germany. What I loved most about Jekyll Island was that it was very non touristy. There were only two restaurants and no stores other than a small convenient store. Everything you needed, you had to bring from the mainland, which suits me just fine, since I did the simple life thing. It was only about a 30 minute trip off the Island, to get everything you needed in #Brunswick Georgia.

It was great to find an affordable beach front hotel, even if it did have all the amnesties and there was no fast food place in walking distance, which too suited me just fine. You could get a decent room for under 100 or tops 120 dollars a night with view of the ocean. it was a poor man/women/s paradise back then.

All I wanted was a place to escape and relax away from the usual noise, yelling, running, music, and human entrainment activities that you often find on beaches. On Jekyll Island you felt thrown back in to a time of "before discovery" at least it felt that way.

Now Jekyll island has been developed and when I took a short trip a couple of years ago just to see I was shocked and left shortly.
Prices have shot through the roof and it's not affordable anymore for someone like myself.

There was still lots of construction and everything seemed to have changed. Where you once saw the ocean from the street there were now hills of sand piled up. A fast food place was being build. I guess we can't survive with at least one on every corner. A large convention center was build right by the ocean.

I said my goodbys and prefer to keep the memories of Jekyll Island from 15 or 20 years ago. I got to see the most beautiful sunrises just like in this painting. All you heard were the ocean, the wind, the seagulls, and you could see dolphins swimming and jumping off the coast. The trees all grow toward the land, blown by the Atlantic winds, that blow steadily, it all looks very unique. I walked the beach and there were few people. Loggerhead turtle tracks and driftwood and to my happy surprise NO litter, plastic bottles and other trash humans often throw down wherever they stand. It was a magical place. I'll miss you Jekyll Island!

Plants and especially medicinal plants have been an interest of mine ever since I worded in the Pharmaceutical industry. I learned that just about all medicines are derived from the chemical/molecular structure of plants. From poppies to Acorns, Dandelions and Yarrow the plant world is a well of medicines. A fascinating field to study.

I paint a new plant and always read about that plants all I can do understand it's properties. Over the decades I have learned a lot and use medicinal plants regularly myslef. I don't take any pharmaceuticals anymore today which is also dues to my vegan lifestyle. Between the plants I eat and the medicinal plants I utilize, internally and externally, I haven't seen a doctor in years. Not even for a flue.

Family-Placed Death Notice

WHITLEY, Ray RAY WHITLEY SONGWRITER FOR THE TAMS Robert Ray Whitley, better known as Ray Whitley, passed away on Sunday, May 5, following several months of illness. Ray was born in Columbus, Georgia, November 22, 1943, to Robert S. and Willie Bell Whitley. Ray was a successful singer, songwriter and performer in Atlanta during the 60's and 70's, making the Billboard Charts many times with songs he wrote which were performed by the well known group, The Tams. He also wrote for singers Joe South, Billy Joe Royal and Tommy Rowe. A member of the Georgia Music Hall of Fame, Ray was probably best known for his songs, "What Kind of Fool Do You Think I Am", "Be Young, Be Foolish, Be Happy" and "Hey Girl, Don't Bother Me". His songs are still played around the world today. Ray is survived by his son Christopher, his sister Jane Whitley Jenssen, and his brother, Donnie Whitley. A memorial service for Ray will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 in the Chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home in Gainesville, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Good News at Noon, 979 Davis Street, Gainesville, Georgia 30501. Those wishing to make online condolences may do so at www.littledavenport.com. Little & Davenport Funeral Home 355 Dawsonville Hwy., Gainesville, GA 30501 is in charge of arrangements.
