Hi, my name is Keri Parish, I am an HR Manager for Kraft Foods for the last 18 years and I’ve been married to my Hubby and best friend for almost 16 years. Hi,

My name is Patti Bond, from West Salem, IL. I'm married to LeRoy. We will be married 4 years on Feb. 14th. We have 4 girls Jennifer 25, Jamie 21, Tameeka 19 and Hannah 18. I have 4 grandbabies, Faith 3, Hunter 18 months, and twins; Tilee & Ayden 6 months. I have been crafting since I was 6. My grandmother taught me to crochet and my mom taught me to sew. I started scrapbooking about 8 years ago. Started card making about 2 years ago, when my niece and I started doing craft shows with our cards, scrapbooking pages and paper projects. I was on the Paper Cutz Challenge DT since Sept. 2010 until it closed in Jan. 2012. I enjoy making my own items like popdots, wiggle wire, flowers and other embellishing and crafting items. We live over an hour from the closest craft store so I do what I can with what I have. Hope you all enjoy and learn from my projects I do for the Just a Scrappin' DT.

Hello. Once again, I'm excited to share with you a beautiful card I made. It was done using some of the newest products from Close to My Heart. The card is made using papers from the new Superhero paper pack. The stamped image is one of the stamps from the February Stamp of the Month set. It can only be purchased in the month of February. The full retail price is $17.95, but you can buy it for $5.00 with a minimum purchase of $50.00 during the month of February.

The focal image was stamped in Cranberry ink onto white cardstock shape cut from the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge. The blue background shape was also cut from the same cartridge.

Close to My Heart New Product Sneak Peek

I am participating in a CTMH New Product Blog Hop to showcase new products. I had a really difficult time deciding which new product to showcase; I love them all. I finally decided that I wanted to show off the new A Card stamps. They are "A" sized stamps that have one feature stamp and can be used to make quick and easy cards. After all, CTMH's motto is "Faster, Simpler, Easier" so what makes more sense, right?

I also wanted to showcase one of the new paper packs. It is called Superhero. I can see many people completely ignoring this paperpack, while others are going to be over the moon in love with it.

I, myself, was prone to ignore it completely. Well, when I got my sample papers, I could not believe how beautiful they are. I used the striped side of the paper and layered it over a piece of Sky. I cut a banner out of sky over white. I stamped the image and sentiment on Moonstruck Cardstock using Versamark and embossed with Gold Embossing Powder. I layered the focal image on White Daisy Cardstock and attached it using 3-D Foam tape. I added 3 White brads to the card.

For my next card, I again stamped the image on Moonstruck Cardstock using Versamark and embossed with Gold Embossing Powder. Then I wiped the edges of White Daisy cardstock on the Versamark Ink pad covered the edges all around with Gold embossing Powder. It makes it appear as if it is Gold Paper, at least along the edges.

I layered this focal image on a 4X4 piece of paper from the New Pemberly Paper Pack and put it on a 4X8 piece of Moonstruck Cardstock, creating a 4X4 card.

The layout I created for my scrapbooking class is from Cherish, the how-to book by Jeanette Lynton. The papers are retired, but since January is "Use your Scraps" month, I think it is appropriate. The paper is the Wings Creative Basics and can still be purchased on the While Supplies Last clearance on my website. The colors used in this layout are: New England Ivy, Sweet Leaf, & Cocoa. Accents are cut-outs from the Cricut Art Philosophy Cartridge. Stamped sentiments are from the stamp set included in the Sonoma Workshop on the Go. I cannot begin to tell you how happy I am to be a guest blogger for “Just A Scrappin’”. When I was given this opportunity, I thought long and hard about the right project for my post. I really wanted to do something special and different for this blog since I have been given so many great ideas and tips right here. And without further ado…

A Homemade Trading Card Game!

This is a twist on a set of ATCs. My 7 year old son LOVES all trading card games (Yu-Gi-Oh, Redakai, Pokemon, etc) and I HATE paying for these expensive pieces of paper. So we sat down and decided to make our own set together. It was incredibly quick and easy!

Now, I am normally a traditional paper crafter, but these cards are better off done digitally. It makes it easier to keep a unified look and add more cards whenever you want. Here is a quick tutorial:

1. Create your images for each card (my son drew his monsters on 8.5x11” paper) and scan them to your computer.

2. Create your trading card template. You can use any photo editing software that you have, or even a Microsoft Word document. We wanted a similar look to the set of Yu-Gi-Oh cards my son has, so we used that as an example while creating our template. Be sure to create a back side template to your cards (my son also made a drawing for this, but you can chose any image).

3. Insert one image per card and add your details (name, special powers, point levels, etc).

4. Print your cards and laminate. If you do not have a laminating machine, use clear Con-Tac paper. This makes the cards more sturdy and helps secure the front and back sides.

After this project, my son has declared his love for scrapbooking! I can’t wait to do more with him.

Show Them Whoooo Cares With a Cute Card!

Making cards for the holidays is a great way to steal some creative time during a very busy season! Now, I’m relatively new to card-making—I’ve been quilting for 20 years and was given a Cricut for Christmas two years ago to use with my fabric crafts. (And, yes, I did make a cute wall-hanging with my Cricut, but that’s a subject for another post!) In the meantime, I discovered making cards is very similar to assembling a quilt top.
This year, I made cards for gift cards, thank you notes and gift tags. Found the Wild Card cartridge to be pretty wonderful for a variety of cards!

My aunt was more thrilled with the hand-made card than the gift cards inside!
The Very Merry Tag cartridge offers so many cute tags and everyone seems to enjoy them on their gifts.

Just a sampling of what tags I made this year
Pretty cool being able to customize your tags to match your gift wrap and add that perfect touch on every gift! Each tag was between 3 inches to 3 ½ inches. Thinking I’m going to start making these in October so I can have plenty on hand for Christmas. I just pop in paper, tell the machine to cut a bunch and assemble the tags. Might be fun to have a bunch of friends over and make enough for everyone’s gifts!

The owl card is one of my favorites! I used shiny metallic paper for the owl, tree and greeting. Before putting the liner in the owl, I turned up the feathers on his chest a little to add a bit of texture. This little cutie was also made the Wild Card cartridge at 4 ¼ inches.
The weather around here has been unseasonably warm for New Jersey, which is conjuring thoughts of spring flowers. Wild Card also has this darling daisy card I made at 4 ¼ inches.

Wishing for springtime....

Will send this card during the next snowstorm!

A word of warning when making the flower card—make sure the liner and outside match, since they can only be oriented one way. (Don’t ask me how I found that out!) Would have preferred a way to make the grass a different color on the envelope, but there wasn’t a separate cut-out. Being cheap, err, frugal, and not wanting to cut another envelope and cut out the grass portion, I decided to get out my colored pencils and enjoy some relaxing coloring time.

Cricut Imagine

Why so many people complain over the cricut imagine?

Many people were wondering if they should buy a cricut imagine or not on black friday, it was such a good deal, how can you not buy it for $187. I was one of those people, I don't buy things just because they are on sale, but what made me decide on buying an imagine was the fact that I'm a full time mom, I have 2 toddlers and little time for my self, at the end of the day I can only stay awake for a few hours, whith the imagine I just print and cut, I don't need to glue all the pieces to get just one cut.

But if you are someone that doesn't know how to update your computer or how to install a printer you might want to just get a cricut expression or the expression 2.
So many people post messages at the cricut website regarding problems with the imagine, the thing is if you begin installing or updating your imagine and you turn it off or unplug it you will be the one causing your imagine to stop working properly. If your internet connection is to slow or you have a computer virus or an old computer with low memory the process will take forever, you have to be very patient. If this is your case grab a book and don't stress about it or it will drive you insane. In my case it took me little time to do the updating and installing. But I love anything that has to do with computer work.

The calibrating is not as bad as some say, you just pick the numbers where the blade cuts just in the middle or covers the black line, don't think that the blade cut should be below the black line so that you can get the blade to cut the whole image, this is not true, you set it up just like a printer, like I said make sure the blade cuts the black line , not above or below.

My advice to you will be, find out how fast your internet is, do the instalation during the day so you can call the cricut customer service if you run into problems. Login to the cricut website, click on comunity and then on cricut imagine, there's plenty of posts than can be helpful, good luck!

So I saw a really cute bag that, Leslie (http://cardmkrleslie.blogspot.com/) had on the Cricut message board as well as her blog site. With her HUGE help, she got me a bag at her local Christmas shop, since I don't have one here, and she sent me the bag and some Heat Transfer Vinyl (HTV). So after being scared about what to do, I decided that I would cut with contact paper to see how the cuts would come out and to also see the sizing for my bag. Here's the bag before I got started:

Here's what I did with my contact paper cuts.......a LO to use for later on.

Here's DS and me working on what to cut on the new vinyl.

After cutting the vinyl....it was time to iron-on.

Next it was time to check on the pieces to see if they were ready.

So here I am peeling the plastic layover off the shells.

The front completed!!!!!

Here's where the vinyl did something weird. I'm not sure because the image is with thinner/smaller pieces or what, but here's my name on the back of the bag.
So that's pretty much it!!!! I really enjoyed spending my time working on this too!!!!

Glass Etching

My daughter-in-law and I wanted to have friends over for a tea party and we wanted them to be able to take something home with them. Since we had some glass etching cream that we used on her and my son's toasting glasses for their wedding we decided to etch a glass for each guest. We wanted to keep the cost down so bought our glasses at The Dollar Tree.

This is one of the toasting glasses from the wedding. The big "M" came from Tie the Knot Cricut cartridge and the small "M" & "S" came from the Jasmine.

These are the glasses that our guest could take home. We chose 3 different size glasses.

This is our trial glass before starting the ones for our guests. It has icicles and snowflakes but since it was the holiday season we chose to use icicles holly leaves for our guests.

First we cut the images on the Cricut using vinyl. Our icicles and snowflakes came from the Martha Stewart Seasonal Cake Art and the holly leaves were from the Stretch Your Imagination cartridge. You will want to use the reverse image so you can use the actual image for something else if you want. If you don't have access to a cutting machine you could use any adhesive stencil.

The icicles were easy to adhere to the glass. Since it was curved we had to make sure the creases were closed, we did this by pressing them flat.

We used transfer tape with our snowflakes and holly leaves so our small pieces stayed in there exact place.

The etching cream was applied with a foam paintbrush. We applied it pretty thick but not so thick that it dripped down.

After about 10 minutes we rinsed the etching cream off with warm water and removed the vinyl.

We had a lot of fun making the glasses and the image could be changed for any occasion. I think they would make a great personalized gift.

Create a Banner to Hang

I am truly fortunate to be Scrappin In Paradise here in Florida. As a Close to My Heart Independent Consultant, I make a lot of projects to showcase things customers can make using CTMH products. When CTMH released the Art Philosophy Cricut Bundle Cartridge, I wanted to show some of the diverse things you can make using it. Many times, I end having these little things around and never get a chance to use.

The project I made hangs in my classroom. It has a combination of cuts from the Art Philosophy cartridge. I took one of the CTMH My Creations Banners and inked the edges using Tulip ink. Then I covered it with Roxie papers that I cut in the banner shape from the AP cartridge. The letters for my name are the decorative layer font. There are little circles cut out of the letters, but I chose to put Mocha Opaque adhesive gems into the spaces.

There are various swirls, and frills, 3-d flowers with Mocha Opaques in the centers, layered flowers with dyed crocheted flowers in the centers, and the "key to knowledge" all cut from this same cartridge.

Images are raised using pieces of cardboard layered under them at various thicknesses.

In the "space" banner, I cut several rose images from another sheet of paper and layered them onto the banner itself. I added some Pearl Opaques to the swirl.

The flowers in the centers are made using the white crocheted flowers that I dyed using Tulip reinker and layered onto several flower cuts from the cricut cartridge.

The flower and the butterfly are each two part images layered together. Either piece could be used independently, but they look so great together.

Hello everyone,

We are so excited to be a guest contributor to "Just A Scrappin".
Let me introduce us. We are 3 ladies who decided to start a "small" scrapbooking business on a "whim"..... I am Melanie, mom to 3 busy girls and a full time Hospice Triage Nurse (I am blessed to work from home). Lisa, mom to 2 wonderful teenagers, she also works from home in her scrapbooking business and is also a full-time baseball mom and last but not least Bev, she works full time in a very busy accounting position and is also mom to 2 wonderful kiddos. She also has a son who keeps her busy with sports.

We all had a love for scrapbooking and a little conversation while at an event in Natchez, MS one year has lead to all of this! We love every minute....craziness, travelling and all! Well 2 and 1/2 years later here we are. We are the proud owners of Kit-A-Licious, Page Kits To Go. We are an online and mobile page kit business, specializing in double page layouts. Our pre-made kits are designed and pre-cut for you, they come with a color photo to guide you and all you need is your beautiful pictures and adhesive. The kits are great for the scrapper with little time, the scrapper who needs help getting their creative juices flowing, the new scrapper just learning to play with paper and the experienced scrapper who uses our kit as a base and adds to it and makes it totally their own. Over the past year we have added basic supplies to our site, such as inks, adhesive, stickles, pens and various tools.

You can see NEW kits posted daily on FACEBOOK as well as at Kit-a-licious, online store. If you are anywhere near any of the events we attend, we would LOVE to meet you. Hello everyone!! I want to take a moment and introduce myself. My name is Angie over at Luvs2Scrapbook and I have followed Linda's Blog for some time now. When Linda expressed a need for guest designers, I suggested that she have a design team to take over the load of her blog for a while so she can focus her energy on her new photography business that has taken off!!! YEA!!!! So she asked if I would head up the call, so here goes...

Angry Bird Card

Hi. I'm Carol Horton. Linda invited me to be a guest blogger to her wonderful blog. I am so excited to share myself and my creations with all of you.

I know that Angry Birds is a very popular game right now. As a matter of fact, I have a kindergarten student who adores the game. When I showed him a picture of the card, he knew right away what I was trying to create! I have to admit, I had only seen the game once and dismissed it. I do however, have a friend, Mindy, who is addicted to Angry Birds. Of course, once I saw this card created by Tracy Sanders, I knew I had to try to make it for Mindy's birthday.

I cut all the pieces to make the card from the Close to My Heart Art Philosoply Bundle Cricut Cartridge. I had no directions on what to use to make this Angry Bird, but I experimented until I could figure out the pieces I needed. I did have to play around to get the sizes right.

To tell you how to find the keys to cut, let me explain how I mark my overlays. I use a system that I think came from Robyn at MyPinkStamper. I label each row with a letter A-E and each white key is numbered 1-10. I start at the first image page in the handbook and mark it A1 and continue to A10. The next image is B1 and goes on to B10. I'm sure you get it.

The body and eyes were made using circles cut on key A1. You need a larger one for the body, 2 black for the eyes in 2 different sizes and a third to cut in half for the eyebrows. You also need a white circle for each eye.

The plume for his head and his wings were cut using the key B2 shift. I cut the center part for each wing. I used the entire top of one for the head feathers.

His legs and feet were cut with the image on key D6 Layer Shift. It looks like a tree trunk but I cut off the extra branches and put them upside down.

His nose was cut using key E5 shift.
