Gandhaka Sudar thylam is a classical siddha medicine explained in ancient siddha text Aasthyar Paripooranam 400. Sudar thylam is a special preparation in siddha system of medicine. The ingredients of this medicine are grind with said juices or butter and paste it on a cloth ribbon. This cloth is twisted on one end of a metallic wick. It is then placed over a vessel and light it. Suitable oils like neem oil, castor oil, Ghee etc., are poured over the wick slowly as the oil travel down the burning end and drip into the vessel below. The process is repeated with the collected oil again until the material in the burning wick is completely consumed.

Agasthyar Paripooranam 400 is a ancient siddha text book by Sage Agasthyar. This book deals with the preparation methods of various siddha medicines for several diseases.

Seerakam or Jeerakam is the Cumin seed in common. Seerakam, the name has two parts 'seer' and 'akam'. 'Seer' means 'one who looks around' and 'akam' means 'internally'. Gastric problems is a very common ailment. Peptic ulcer, acidity, worm infestations, Indigestion, Irritation to stomach due to increased use of some medicines, food items are common among them. Sour belching, constipation, Anorexia, diarrhoea, bogginess, stomach ache etc may come along with this. Proper appetite and digestion should be there to avoid such problems.

An ancient siddha Text book, Agasthyar Vaidya Pooranam 205,one of the most important works of Sage Agasthyar, states an excellent medicines, 'Vedaagni kumaran churnam' to cure all type of gastric problems by cleansing the stomach and improving digestive fire.

This simple but highly effective medicine contains two ingredients.

1. Kuppaimeni (Acalypha indica) and

2. Jeerakam (Cuminum cyminum)

According to Sage Agasthyar, the plant kuppai meni (Acalypha indica) is dried and powdered and added same quantity of Jeeraka (Cuminum cyminum) powder. If this medicine is taken internally for 40 days all gas related problems of stomach will be cured, it will increase Appetit and relieves indigestion. It may even cure mild poisonous condition due to the bite of small reptiles.

As it is a traditional medicine said in ancient siddha literatures, it is not available in market.

സിദ്ധയിലെ പഞ്ചമുട്ടി കഞ്ഞി

പഞ്ച മുട്ടി കഞ്ഞി ആരോഗ്യകരമായതും പ്രോട്ടീന്‍ സമ്പുഷ്ടമായതുമായ ഒരു കഞ്ഞിയാണ്. ഇത് ആരോഗ്യകരമായ നാരുകളും സൂക്ഷ്മ പോഷകങ്ങളും നിറഞ്ഞതാണ്. കഞ്ഞി മൊത്തത്തിലുള്ള ആരോഗ്യം വര്‍ദ്ധിപ്പിക്കുകയും സജീവമായ ജീവിതശൈലിക്ക് ഊര്‍ജ്ജം നല്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു. ഇത് രോഗ പതിരോധ ശേഷി വര്‍ദ്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്നു. കുട്ടികളുടെ മുലകുടി ശീലം നിര്‍ത്തുന്നതുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട് (Weaning) നല്‍കാവൂന്ന ഒരു നല്ല പോഷകാഹാരമാണ് ഇത്. പഞ്ചമുട്ടി കഞ്ഞി പതിവായി ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നതിലൂടെ മെലിഞ്ഞവരും ദുര്‍ബലരുമായ വ്യക്തികളുടെ ഭാരം വദിപ്പിക്കാനും ആരോഗ്യം വീണ്ടെടുക്കാനും സാധിയ്ക്കും.

പഞ്ചമുട്ടി കഞ്ഞിയിലെ ചേരുവകള്‍

പേര് സൂചിപ്പിക്കാന്ത് പോലെ 5 ചേരുവകള്‍ തന്നെയാണ് ഇതിനുള്ളത്

1. പച്ചരി (Raw rice)

2. ഉഴുന്ന് (Urad dal)

3. തുവര പരിപ്പ് ( Toor Dal)

4. കടല പരിപ്പ് (Chana Dal)

5. ചെറു പയര്‍ (Green Gram)

ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്ന വിധം

കുട്ടികള്‍ക്ക് കുറുക്ക് ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്നത് പോലെയാണ് തന്നെയാണ് ഇത് ഉണ്ടാക്കേണ്ടത്. മേല്‍പ്പറഞ്ഞ 5 ചേരുവകളും ചെറുതായി വറുത്ത് പൊടിച്ച് വെയ്കുക. ആവശ്യത്തിന് പൊടി എടുത്ത് നല്ലൊരു വെള്ള തുണിയില്‍ കിഴി കെട്ടി ആവശ്യത്തിന് വെള്ളം എടുത്ത് അതിലിട്ട് തിളപ്പിക്കുക. ശേഷം കുഴമ്പു പോലെ ആകുമ്പോള്‍ ഇറക്കി വെയ്ക്കുക. ചെറു ചൂടോടെ നെയ് ചേര്‍ത്തോ അല്ലാതെയോ ഉപയോഗിക്കാം.

യൂറിക് ആസിഡ് എന്ന വില്ലന്‍

എന്താണ് യൂറിക് ആസിഡ് ?

നാം കഴിക്കുന്ന ഭക്ഷണത്തിലെയും നമ്മുടെ ശരീര കോശങ്ങളിലുമുള്ള മാംസ്യം (പ്രോടീന്‍) ദഹിച്ച് ഉണ്ടാകുന്ന പ്യൂരീന്‍ എന്ന രാസ വസ്തുവിന്‍റെ വിഘടന ഫലമായുണ്ടാകുന്ന ഒരു ഉപോല്‍പ്പണമാണ് യൂറിക് ആസിഡ് . ഇത് മൂത്രത്തിലൂടെയും മലത്തിലൂടെയും ശരീരം പുറംതള്ളുന്നു. 70 % യൂറിക് ആസിഡും വൃക്കകള്‍ വേര്‍തിരിച്ച് മൂത്രത്തിലൂടെ പുറത്ത് കളയുമ്പോള്‍ 30 % മലത്തിലൂടെ പുറം തള്ളപ്പെടുന്നു.

യൂറിക് ആസിഡിന്റെ അളവ്.

ആരോഗ്യവാനായ ഒരു പുരുഷന്‍റെ ശരീരത്തില്‍ നാലു മുതൽ എട്ടു വരെ mg/dl യൂറിക് ആസിഡ് ആണ് കാണാറുള്ളത് (4–8 mg/dl). സ്ത്രീകളിൽ ഇത് പുരുഷന്മാരെക്കാൾ കുറവായിരിക്കും (2.4–6 mg/dl). ആർത്തവം ഉള്ള സ്ത്രീകളിൽ അവരുടെ ശരീരത്തില്‍ ഉള്ള ഈസ്ട്രജന്‍ (Oestrogen) എന്ന ഹോര്‍മോണിന് യൂറിക് ആസിഡിനെ മൂത്രത്തിലൂടെ പുറന്തള്ളാനുള്ള കഴിവുണ്ട്.

യൂറിക് ആസിഡ് ശരീരത്തില്‍ കൂടുന്നത് എങ്ങനെ ?

നാം കഴിക്കുന്ന ഭക്ഷണത്തിൽ പ്രോട്ടീനിന്‍റെ അളവ് കൂടുന്നതും കിഡ്നിക്കുണ്ടാകുന്ന രോഗങ്ങള്‍ കൊണ്ടും, യൂറിക് ആസിഡ് ശരീരത്തില്‍ വർധിക്കുന്നു. ഇത് കൂടാതെ ലുക്കീമിയ, അര്‍ബുദ ചികിത്സയുടെ പ്രതിപ്രവർത്തനം എന്നിവ കൊണ്ടും അമിത വണ്ണം, മൂത്രളമായ (Diuretics) ഔഷധങ്ങളുടെ അമിത ഉപയോഗം, കൊഴുപ്പ് രക്തത്തിൽ അമിതമായി കൂടുക എന്നിവ കൊണ്ടും ശരീരത്തില്‍ യൂറിക് ആസിഡ് ക്രമാതീതമായി വര്‍ദ്ധിക്കാം. രക്താര്‍ബുദം, സോറിയാസിസ് എന്നീ രോഗങ്ങള്‍ ഉള്ളവരില്‍ യൂറിക് ആസിഡ് വളരെ അധികം കൂടുതല്‍ ആയിരിയ്ക്കും.

യൂറിക് ആസിഡ് ശരീരത്തില്‍ കൂടുമ്പോള്‍ ഉണ്ടാകുന്നത്

രക്തത്തിൽ യൂറിക് ആസിഡ് കൂടുന്ന അവസ്ഥയെ ഹൈപ്പർ യൂറീസെമിയ (Hyperuricemia) എന്ന് പറയുന്നു. യൂറിക് ആസിഡിന്‍റെ അളവ് രക്തത്തിൽ വര്‍ദ്ധിക്കുമ്പോള്‍ യൂറിക് ആസിഡ് ക്രിസ്റ്റല്‍സ് (crystals) ഉണ്ടാവുകയും ഇത് സന്ധികളിലും മറ്റും അടിഞ്ഞു കൂടുന്നു. ഈ ക്രിസ്റ്റലുകള്‍ കൂര്‍ത്ത അഗ്രങ്ങളോട് കൂടിയതായതിനാല്‍ ഇത് സന്ധികളിൽ ചുവന്ന നിറത്തോട് കൂടിയ തടിപ്പ്, സൂചി കുത്തുന്നത് പോലുള്ള വേദന, മരവിപ്പ് തുടങ്ങിയവ ഉണ്ടാകുന്നു. ഈ അവസ്ഥയെ ഗൌട്ട് (Gout) എന്ന് പറയുന്നു. കാലിന്‍റെ പെരുവിരലിലെ സന്ധിയില്‍ ഇത് അധികമായി കണ്ടു വരാറുണ്ട്. ഇത്ഥം വേദന 12 മുതല്‍ 24 മണിക്കൂര്‍ വരെ നീണ്ടുനില്‍ക്കുന്നതും അസഹ്യവുമായിരിക്കും.

രക്തത്തിലെ അമിതമായ യൂറിക് ആസിഡ് വൃക്കകളില്‍ യൂറിക് ആസിഡ് സ്റ്റോണ്‍ ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്നതിനും കാലക്രമേണ വൃക്ക രോഗങ്ങള്‍ക്കും (Kidney diseases), വൃക്ക സ്തംബനത്തിനും (Kidney Failure) കാരണമായേക്കാം .

യൂറിക് ആസിഡ് കുറയ്ക്കുന്നതിന്

യൂറിക് ആസിഡ് കുറയ്ക്കാന്‍ ശരീരഭാരം നിയന്ത്രിക്കണം. അമിത വണ്ണം ഉള്ളവര്‍ BMI പ്രകാരമുള്ള ശരീരഭാരം ആക്കുന്നതിലൂടെ യൂറിക് ആസിഡ് കുറയും. വ്യായാമം ചെയ്തും ആഹാരം നിയന്ത്രിച്ചും വേണം ശരീര ഭാരം കുറയ്ക്കാന്‍ . ആഹാരം കഴിക്കാതിരുന്നാല്‍ യൂറിക് ആസിഡ് വര്‍ധിക്കുന്നതായാണ് കാണുന്നത്.

മാംസാഹാരങ്ങള്‍ , കൊഴുപ്പുള്ള ആഹാരങ്ങള്‍ എന്നിവ ഒഴിവാക്കണം.

മല്‍സ്യം, ടിന്‍ ഫൂഡുകള്‍ എന്നിവയും യീസ്റ്റ് ചെന്നിട്ടുള്ള കേക്കുകള്‍, ബ്രഡ്, മദ്യം എന്നിവയും യൂറിക് ആസിഡ് വര്‍ധിക്കുന്നതിന്‍ കാരണമാകുന്നു.

വിറ്റാമിന്‍ c അടങ്ങിയ ചെറി പഴങ്ങള്‍, ഓറഞ്ച്. നാരങ്ങ എന്നിവയും പൈനാപ്പിള്‍, വാഴപ്പഴം , ഞാവല്‍ പഴം, ഇഞ്ചി തക്കാളി എണീവയെല്ലാം തന്നെ യൂറിക് ആസിഡ് അളവ് കുറയ്ക്കുന്നതിന് ഉത്തമമാണ്.

ദിവസേന 2 മുതല്‍ 3 ലിറ്റര്‍ വരെ വെള്ളം കുടിക്കുന്നതും, നാരങ്ങ ചെറു ചൂട് വെള്ളത്തില്‍ പിഴിഞ്ഞ് കുടിക്കുന്നതും
നല്ലതാണ്.

സിദ്ധ മരുന്നുകള്‍

സന്ധികളില്‍ പിത്ത ദോഷം വര്‍ധിച്ച് ഉതിര വാത ശ്രോണിതം എന്ന അവസ്ഥ സംജാതമാകുന്നതായാണ് സിദ്ധ ഈ രോഗത്തെ കുറിച്ച് നോക്കി കാണുന്നത്. വിവിധ സന്ധികളില്‍ അസഹ്യമായ വേദന അതും രാത്രി കാലങ്ങളില്‍ കൂടുന്ന വിധമുള്ളത് , കൂടാതെ വീക്കവും ചുവന്ന നിറവും ചൂടും സന്ധികളില്‍ ഉണ്ടാകും.

വിരേചനത്തിനുള്ള ഔഷധങ്ങള്‍ നല്കി ദോഷങ്ങളെ സമനില ആക്കിയതിന് ശേഷമാണ് ഔഷധങ്ങള്‍ കഴിക്കേണ്ടത്. നീര്‍മുള്ളി കുടിനീര്‍, ജലമഞ്ജരി, സീന്തില്‍ കുടിനീര്‍, സീന്തില്‍ ചൂര്‍ണ്ണം, പിത്ത ജ്വര കുടിനീര്‍ , ജഡമാഞ്ചി തൈലം, സിവപ്പ് കുക്കില്‍ തൈലം തുടങ്ങിയ ഔഷധങ്ങള്‍ പഥ്യം പാലിച്ച് വൈദ്യ നേര്‍ദേശ പ്രകാരം സേവിച്ച് ഈ രോഗം ഭേതമാക്കാവുന്നതാണ്.

Thazhampoo mathirai is a classical siddha medicine explained in siddha Vaidya thirattu. It contains the following ingradients.

Purified corrosive sublimate (Veeram)
Purified Cinnabar (Lingam)
Purified Rasa chenduram
Purified Sulphur (Gandhakam)
Purified Croton Cotyledons (Nervalam)
Screw pine flower juice (Thazhampoo juice)

This medicine is very effective in treating fevers with swelling of lymph glands and scrotal swelling. It is said to be effective in filarial fever. It will cure abdominal bloating and distention.

The dosage of this medicine is 1-2 pills with honey or hot water daily.
