This market hall is a must-visit for those who love seafood. It gets its name from its architecture: pointed arched windows and no partitions or pillars, so it really looks like a church. There was a choice of two delicious ‘catch of the day’ lunches at £10, including coffee.

Proceed from there on foot to the Haga district, which is Gothenburg’s most ancient neighborhood, featuring quaint stores and snug coffee houses scattered throughout.

Before leaving, I managed to squeeze in an hour at the Science Museum, Universeum, beginning with the top level which showcases the four major climate zones of our planet.

The abiding memory is of the aquaria and the reptile house, including a fun but shocking model of how a snake bites. Then brief visits to the space exhibits on the fourth floor and the chemistry lab and models of the human body one floor below.

"We’re like unicorns,” Hung remarked. “This place is the overlooked spot. Previously, it didn’t even show up on maps. It ended at the Mission.”

He noted that on any given night, he can walk into his bar and hear half a dozen patrons call him by name, ask him how he is doing, and reminisce with them about the old days growing up in the city.

In those times when we relied on buses for transportation and Uber as well as cell phones weren’t around yet, we used to have to find one another by calling people’s houses—‘Hey, where are you headed?’

But like many small business owners, Hung noted there have been challenges keeping things going over the past few years, especially given the bar's location miles away from the city center and from some of the better-known parts of town among visitors.

"Just getting people back out here since the pandemic, and getting them to check out neighborhoods that they usually wouldn't frequent."

However, three years ago, during Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month, a long-time local resident had an idea to assist his community. Al Perez has been residing in the Excelsior area for 45 years now.

Perez mentioned that many residents around here come from blue-collar, middle-class backgrounds. Thus, they lack significant influence compared to wealthier areas. He described this place as home for true San Franciscans, emphasizing that numerous working-class individuals reside here.

Perez helped organize Chow Fun, an event series observed during Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month These events encompass bar crawls, wine walks, as well as culinary and community gatherings designed to guide visitors towards some of the less-discovered AAPI-owned establishments in San Francisco.

Tornadoes pose significant risks, and the Weather Authority urged residents of mobile homes in the London and Pulaski County regions to evacuate and find safer shelter.

Shortly after 1 a.m. on Saturday, the Laurel County Fiscal Court shared on Facebook that a tornado had "ravaged" the region, posting videos of structures, vehicles, trees, and various infrastructures wrecked by the storm.

Approximately at 1:15 a.m. on Saturday, the Corbin Police Department took to social media, asking the community to pray for tornado victims in Laurel County. The department wrote that officers responded to mutual aid calls to a debris field in the area, and what they saw made authorities emotional.

The Somerset Fire Department posted on Facebook around 11 p.m. on Friday that crews were dispatched to Stoplight 22 as well as the Parker’s Mill Road area in response to weather damage caused by tornado activity.
