RECRUITMENT NOTICE

Applications are invited from male Indian citizens who fulfill the eligibility conditions for filling up the following Group 'C" posts in the SASHASTRA SEEMA BAL. The posts are temporary, but likely to be permanent in the pay scale as mentioned below against each post plus usual and admissible allowances as applicable to Central Government employees from time to time. Selection Process

All eligible candidates will be invited for written test at their own expense. The Written Test papers will be objective type in nature and will be bilingual i.e. in Hindi & English. Thereafter, the candidates will be called for personal interview in the ratio of 1:3 to the no. of vacancies in order of merit of Written Test Marks. For applying the above ratio, initially, all UR candidates of each discipline of Engineering, alongwith such reserved category candidates of that discipline, who do not avail any relaxation, are to be grouped together and then arranged in descending order of written test marks and candidates shall be called for interview in the ratio of 1: 3 in UR category. After this, candidates belonging to OBC/SC/ST categories, who are not shortlisted for interview as UR, shall be regrouped with their respective categories for further consideration and candidates will be called for interview in the prescribed ratio.

Later on, at the time of final selection, the same exercise is to be carried out for all those reserved category candidates considered so far under UR category.

BANK OF MAHARASHTRA PO EXAM PATTERN:

WRITTEN TEST: Written Test will comprise (i) Objective Test on Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning, General Awareness and English & (ii) Descriptive Test. The Descriptive Test shall be to assess the candidates’ knowledge on Socio- economic development and Communication Skills. Descriptive test paper of only those candidates will be evaluated who are adequately high in percentile ranking in each of all the four objective tests. The merit list of written examination will be based on the aggregate of the marks obtained by the candidates in Objective and Descriptive tests. However, the number of candidates to be called for Group Discussion and/or Interview will be as per the appropriate cut off mark decided by the Bank. Merely eligibility/pass in the Written Test will not entitle any candidate to be called for GD and/ or Interview. Further details regarding the Written Test i.e. number of questions, duration, etc., shall be advised along with the call letter. The candidates have an option to answer the Written Test (Descriptive Test) in either English or Hindi (only in one language). There will be negative marks for the wrong answers in the Objective Tests.

GROUP DISCUSSIONS AND/OR INTERVIEW : The candidates who pass the test and rank sufficiently high shall be called for interview in the ratio of 1:3 in relation to the number of posts i.e. 3 candidates to be called for interview for every post depending on ranking in the written test.

DESIRABLE:

Note: (i) Those candidates who have passed B.A(Hons) in English/Hindi with Hindi/English as subsidiary/MIL subject are eligible for the post of Junior Hindi Translators (ii) Candidate must ensure that they have studied English and Hindi as main subjects and not as a paper in all three years of BA Pass course.

SCHEME OF EXAMINATION:

The examination will consist of two parts, viz.

PART-I - Written Examination, carrying 400 marks; and
PART-II - Personality Test (Interview), carrying 100 Marks.

SYLLABUS:

Paper-I:
a) General Hindi : 100 marks (Objective type)
b) General English : 100 marks (Objective type)

The questions will be designed to test the candidates’ understanding of the language, correct use of words,phrases and idioms and ability to write language correctly, precisely and effectively.

Paper-II:
Translation and Essay: 200 Marks (Conventional Type)

The paper will contain two passages for translation-one passage for translation from Hindi to English and one passage for translation from English to Hindi, and an Essay each in Hindi and English to test the candidates’ translation skills and their ability to write as well as comprehend the two languages correctly, precisely and effectively

2. State Bank of India has been authorized to collect the Application fee on behalf of ECIL, in a specially opened account Number 31102144119 available on website from 24.08.2010. Candidate has to download and print the pay-in-slip and approach the nearby SBI branch for remitting the application fee of Rs.200/- (Rupees Two Hundred only). The pay-in-slip printed from the portal should only be used for depositing the fee for proper crediting of amount in the allocated account. On receipt of the money, the Bank will allot a Journal Number, Branch Name and Branch Code, after collecting said money. This journal number, Branch Name and branch code are to be filled up by the candidate while applying online. In case, the candidate deposits the fee in a wrong account, ECIL will not be responsible. There will not be any other mode of receipt of application fee.
3. The candidate can take a print out of the blank application proforma provided as a link on the main page, fill up the required information (in Capital letters) as per proforma along with the application fee details and apply through on-line so that the data furnished is error-free.
4. After applying on-line, the candidate is required to take the print out of registered on-line application form with system generated application serial number. Please note down your application serial number for the post applied, for future reference. The candidate can take re-print of his/her registered on-line application form before the last date for On-line registration. Write the system generated on-line application serial number on the ECIL copy of the Pay-in-slip form.
5. The candidate has to sign on print-out of on-line registered application form by affixing the colour passport size photograph (4 X 3 cms) and enclose the photo copies of educational qualifications, experience, caste & Medical Certificate (applicable for PH candidates only) along with ECIL‟s copy of Pay-in-slip invariably. About

Indianisation of the superior Civil Services became one of the major demands of the political movement compelling the British Indian Government to consider setting up of a Public Service Commission for recruitment to its services in the territory. The first Public Service Commission was set up on October 1st, 1926. However, its limited advisory functions failed to satisfy the people's aspirations and the continued stress on this aspect by the leaders of our freedom movement resulted in the setting up of the Federal Public Service Commission under the Government of India Act, 1935. Under this Act, for the first time, provision was also made for the formation of Public Service Commissions at the provincial level.
As a consequence the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission was constituted on the 1st of April 1937 with its headquarters at Allahabad and has a glorious past of more than 60 years. At the time of its inception The UP Public Service Commission was situated in a few rooms in the then Secretariat, but now apart from a lavish campus at Allahabad, it has a Camp Office in the state capital Lucknow as well. In 1937 only 9,811 applications were disposed and over the years the quantum of work has increased manifold with the disposal of a few lakh applications every year now.

SELECTION PROCEDURES:

A. PRELIMINARY SELECTION:
i. Usually, the selection to the posts will be made on the basis of an Interview/ Personality Test/ Skill Test. Mere fulfilling of minimum prescribed qualifications etc. will not entitle a applicant to be called for the Interview/ Personality Test/ Skill Test. Commission may make a preliminary selection of applicants on the basis of their educational qualifications, academic records, percentage of marks, etc., and the applicants thus selected will be required to undergo an Interview/ Personality Test/ Skill Test.
ii. The Commission, may at its discretion, decide to hold a Proficiency Test in appropriate subject for any of the categories of posts or to make a screening of applicants on the basis of percentage of marks on the EQ, where it is felt necessary, before the applicants are called for Interview/Personality Test/ Skill Test/Proficiency Test. The Proficiency Test would be in the relevant subject, which will be intimated to the applicants in due course of time.
iii. The Commission may at its discretion, waive holding of Proficiency Test in those categories of posts where a Proficiency Test has been prescribed. NOTE : ``The Interview/Personality Test is structured in such a manner that the applicants` interests, knowledge, various traits, aptitude, suitability etc. are probed, among other things, through academic qualifications, extracurricular activities, general awareness/knowledge, depth of knowledge of the subject studied on the level of ‘Essential Qualification’ for the post, communicative skill and personality etc.``
B. SCREENING TEST:
i. The Commission may, at its discretion decide to hold a screening test for any of the categories where it is felt necessary before Interview/Personality Test/ Proficiency Test/Skill Test.
ii. The Commission may, at its discretion, where it is felt necessary, without holding Screening Test may screen the applicants by the method of short listing on the basis of percentage of marks on the prescribed Essential Qualification for the post. iii. Only such of the applicants who qualify in the screening test or otherwise at the standard fixed by the Commission at their discretion would be eligible for being called for the Interview/Personality Test/ Proficiency Test/Skill Test.

Keshava, the washerman had a donkey. They worked together all day, and Keshava would pour out his heart to the doneky. One day, Keshava was walking home with the donkey when he felt tired. A window was open, and through it, a teacher could be heard scolding the students. ‘Here I am, trying to turn you donkeys into human beings, but you just won’t study !’ As soon as Keshava heard these words, his ears pricked up. A man who could actually turn donkeys into humans ! This was the answer to his prayers. Impatiently, he waited for school to be over that day. when everyone had gone home, and only the teacher remained behind to check some papers, Keshava entered the classroom.

‘How can I help you ?’ asked the teacher. Keshava scratched his head and said, ‘I heard what you said to the children. This donkey is my companion. If you made it human, we could have such good times together.’ The teacher decided to trick Keshava. He pretended to think for a while and then said, ‘Give me six months and it will cost you a thousand rupees.’ The washerman agreed and rushed home to get the money. He then left the donkey in the teacher’s care.

After the six months were up, Keshava went to the teacher. The teacher had been using the donkey for his own work. Not wanting to give it up, he said, ‘Oh, your donkey became so clever that it ran away. He is the headman of the next village.’ When Keshava reached the next village he found the village elders sitting under a tree, discussing serious problems. How surprised they were when Keshava marched up to the headman, grabbed his arm and said, ‘How dare you ? You think you are so clever that you ran away ? Come home at once !’

The headman understood someone had played a trick on Keshava. ‘I am not your donkey !’ he said. ‘Go find the sage in the forest.’ Keshava found the sage sitting under a tree with his eyes closed, deep in meditation. He crept up and grabbed the sage’s beard. ‘Come back home now !’ he shouted. The startled sage somehow calmed Keshava. When he heard what had happened, he had a good laugh. Then he told the washerman kindly, ‘The teacher made a fool of you. Your donkey must be still with him. Go and take it back from him. Try to make some real friends, who will talk with you and share your troubles. A donkey will never be able to do that !’ Keshava returned home later that day with his donkey, sadder and wiser.
