fix overheating laptop / pc with undervolting processor

undervolting is the process of reducing the excessive voltage to the CPU by using the software. Undervolting does not affect performance at all. affecting performance is the overclock and underclock. Undervolting is not equal to underclocking.

Not all the same processor, each processor models have different voltage tolerances. Intel put on a standard voltage stable (and high) to each chip. The problem is the manufacturer of very high standard voltage. Undervolting try to tune to the lowest stable voltage.

Undervolting process takes a long time, because we have to find the lowest stable voltage for each multiplier on the CPU. Multiplier associated with SpeedStep technology, cpu works full power each time, the multiplier is used to dynamically adjust the cpu clock. (sign multiplier: 6x, 7x, 8x, etc).

* For now, Atom processor, ULV and i-core can not be undervolt.

you need:

1. RMClock v2.35 (main program for undervolting).
2. Orthos CPU Loader (using that to stress test the CPU and look for voltage stability).
3. HWMonitor or everest (to see the realtime of CPU temperature).

* for 64 bit OS will have to download special drivers. copy and paste into the installation folder RMClock. another link.

check Max Temperature before undervolt

First we must achieve the max cpu temperature.
1. open HWMonitor, see the temperature for the cpu, if there are 2 cores it will indicate the temperature of each core.
2. Open Orthos, select "Small FFTs-stress cpu".
3. Click Start on Orthos, and run for 10 minutes, check your cpu temperature rises in HWMonitor.
4. after 10 minutes, click Stop to stop the test, record the max cpu temperature.

Installing and Setting RMClock

1. install RMClock
2. run RMClock
3. click the tab on the left of "Advanced CPU Settings", refer to the settings in the screenshot and click "Apply".

* AMD users need to check a "P-State Transistors" for a better undervolt

setting Profile

1. Open Profiles -> Performance on demand as in the screenshot.
check "Use P-State Transitions" and then check all the "Index" checkbox at the bottom, click Apply.

2. Open Profile tab (main profile).
select performance on demand for AC Power and Battery, check all Normal-type multiplier. if your cpu showed SuperLFM and IDA, uncheck. click Apply.

undervolting

1. starting from the largest multiplier (see screenshot above),
at the screenshot looks default voltage is 1.1750V
we have to do is to lower the voltage, and voltage stability test page, do it gradually.
0.025V lower voltage per phase until it finds an unstable (in the stability tests below)

2. to reduce the voltage of each, click Apply. if not, the new setting will not affect.

3. To find the voltage at the lower multiplier, uncheck the higher multiplier. who already have a stable voltage.
(cpu, it will only work at max clock multiplier in the earlier check)

stability Test

1. Open Orthos and HWMonitor
2. Open the tab "CPU Info" in RMClock (to see the temperature and cpu clock)
3. Orthos set to "Small FFTs-stress cpu".
4.Start Orthos for 45 minutes.

* On the stage who seek a stable voltage, 10-15 minutes is sufficient.

* If the voltage is not stable, then your laptop will experience a BSOD (Blue screen) or Error on Orthos.
do not panic if it appears the BSOD, restart your laptop normally.

* After making finding the voltage is unstable, increase the voltage 2 level and then run back to stability tests
(Voltage is stable so it will then be used for the multiplier).

* For stable voltage is recommended to run a stability test for longer, 1-3 hours.

save and apply

after all multiplier gain stable voltage, RMClock settings at windows startup:

* Profile tab in RMCLock: select "Performance on demand" for Startup and current, click Apply.
* Tab settings: Check "Start minimized in the windows tray" and "Run at Windows startup", click Apply.

Graphic systems such as the switch has been implemented on some Sony Vaio notebook that came out was almost a year ago. This notebook is to use two VGA, namely Intel and Nvidia Geforce. But, on this Vaio notebooks, the switch is done manually. There are two modes of selection, namely the Speed and Stamina. In Speed mode, VGA GeForce active, whereas in Stamina mode using Intel GMA 950.

It started working properly then I installed latest programs and drivers from acer site for my model like VGA_Intel, Application Intel, ePower Acer and update BIOS. I guess it was all about intel drivers and their ability to switch graphic back to ATI.

Windows XP Service Pack 3 does not support Switchable Graphics Technology. This is a limitation of the Windows XP operating system. VGA driver cannot be loaded until the display mode in BIOS is changed to Discrete.

To resolve this, please follow the below steps.

1. Update the BIOS to version
The BIOS can be downloaded from the Drivers and Downloads area.
2. After the BIOS has been updated, reboot the system and press F2 to enter the BIOS setup menu.
3. Change the "Switchable graphics" setting to "Discrete".
4. Save changes and exit.

Step by Step how to modify HD :

6. after everything is installed, we flash FIRMWARE make the new occupants, 160GB. a few items needed to make the flash of the protagonist:

In the backlight of this type LEDs are uniformly distributed in the plane parallel to the matrix, which allows setting the backlight intensity differently in different parts of the screen when necessary. This is the further development of the dynamic contrast technology. It is currently employed in LCD TV-sets only.
An edge backlight with white LEDs. The LEDs are placed in a line along the edge of the matrix, and the uniform brightness of the screen is ensured by a special design of the diffuser. This backlight does not offer the option of zonal control over brightness. It does not ensure an extended color gamut, either. Instead, it is economical and compact, which makes it popular among notebook makers. It is also often installed in monitors. By the way, as opposed to cold-cathode lamps, light-emitting diodes do not contain mercury and thus can be recycled easier.

So, ordinary home monitors usually come with an edge backlight based on white LEDs. Other types of LED-based backlights may become popular in the future, but that’s what we have now.

The manufacturers often promise that a LED backlight affects nearly all of a monitor’s characteristics including contrast ratio, color accuracy, brightness uniformity. Is it really so?

Contrast ratio is only determined by the characteristics of the LCD matrix, namely by the ratio of the transparency levels of open and closed pixels. It depends neither on the backlight nor on the type of that backlight.

Dynamic contrast. As opposed to gas-discharge lamps, LEDs can be lit up instantly or turned out completely, which leads to extremely high levels of dynamic contrast (to remind you, it is calculated as the ratio of white on an all-white screen to black on an all-black screen). But in real applications, for example when watching a movie, there are no absolutely black frames even in the credits. Most of the time there is something on the screen besides blackness and a monitor with a huge specified dynamic contrast will never have the chance to deliver it in practice. As a result, there is no practical point in increasing the dynamic contrast higher than 10,000:1 which has already become standard for any monitors, including those with a backlight based on fluorescent lamps.

Uniformity of brightness. As I’ve said above, home monitors utilize an edge backlight, i.e. a line of LEDs along the edge of the matrix. The whole screen is lit by means of a special diffuser. This is the same design as is used in notebook displays and in inexpensive models of monitors with lamp-based backlight: the lamp is also located near the edge of the screen (more expensive models have a few lamps, located behind the matrix). The uniformity of brightness depends only on the design of the diffuser and you can often see various defects like bright spots or a brighter zone at the edge of the screen where the lamp or the line of LEDs resides. Therefore, LED-based monitors can be both better and worse than lamp-based ones. It depends on the specific models.

Color gamut is due to the properties of the color filters of the LCD matrix and the backlight’s radiation spectrum. The 3-color backlight (red-green-blue) can ensure a really large color gamut with pure and saturated colors (you can refer to this review for details), but home monitors currently use white LEDs with a continuous radiation spectrum of a complex shape. As a result, the color gamut of such monitors differs but little from that of monitors with lamp-based backlight. I don’t say they are identical, but the difference can hardly be spotted with a naked eye.

Color accuracy. Obviously enough, the other aspects of color reproduction do not depend on the type of backlight at all. They are determined by how accurately the monitor is set up, by the monitor’s electronics, the characteristics of the LCD panel, etc.

So, although it would be wrong to claim that LED backlighting has no advantages, those advantages do not affect the image quality. The only indubitable high of LED-based monitors is their lower power consumption, but their image quality won’t be any better until the manufacturers switch from the white edge backlight to other technologies. And I have doubts that this will occur in near future because edge backlighting is cheap while the more advanced alternatives are far more expensive.

Summing it up, you should only deliberately look for a LED-based monitor if you care about power consumption. Otherwise, you should base your choice on other parameters, ignoring the type of backlight altogether.

Introduction
Android on WM devices is getting more and more popular, especially with the latest developments, and it's almost ready for daily use. I wanted to have an app so we could easily boot into both WM & Android, and Gen.Y DualBOOT was the solution. This release is made for VGA devices, and supports both booting from Internal Storage (moviNAND, e.g. Touch Diamond) & Storage Card (SDMemory, e.g. Touch Pro). WVGA version and QVGA version is also ready. This app has been tested on WM6.1, but will work perfectly on WM6.5.x as well.
Keep in mind thatyour android setup must be installed already at the root of your storage card in order for this app to work correctly(e.g. \Internal Storage\haret.exe or \Storage Card\haret.exe respectively)

This app is launched by a registry key created in [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\init], so it launches directly at boot after shell gets initialized.
Chefs:If u are going to cook this app into your ROM, make sure that this key gets added DURING your customization procedure (and not before!)
There are 2 checkboxes, enabling automatic boot:
AutoBoot: enabling this mode will automatically boot the OS of your choice after a 10 second countdown
> disabling autoboot will remove the countdown completely
FastBoot: enabling this mode will automatically boot the OS of your choice after a 3 second countdown (requires AutoBoot to be enabled first)
Now apart from these 2 checkboxes, u have2 radiobuttons, which allow u to choose which OS gets automatically booted.
And last but not least, u have the2 manual launch buttons. Pressing these buttons will directly launch (overriding autoboot) Windows Mobile or Android.
Registry
Gen.Y DualBOOT checks for 4 registry keys, which allow some form of customiation. Apart from the last key (StorageBootMode), all keys can be modified utilizing the radio & check buttons in the GUI. All of these keys can be found in:

After looking anywhere in internet / googleman how to enable sata controller on my laptop with the default IDE controller mode, now I've found a way. most new laptops purchased may easily change the setting to the sata controllers ideas. for those who install windows seven it more easier. just download this exe file. and extract to the drive c / driver. IDE ATA/ ATA controller.">how to know if sata controller on your laptop working by looking at the device manager> IDE ATA / ATA controller. if there are drivers iastor.sys means your laptop is in the sata controller mode.
