We had reported earlier about superstar Mohanlal's attempts to remove the fake profiles of the actor in Facebook. This was done with the help of a private agency, following the launch of the official Facebook page of the actor. Barely two months from its start on 3rd of June, the page has now emerged as the most visited one among Malayalees using Facebook. It is reported that around 3.3 lakhs of the Face book Users has already liked theMohanlal page, with an average increase of around 8000-10,000 likes per day.And naturally, Mohanlal is quite satisfied to learn that he is still the most valued Mollywood star with the maximum fan following.

'Karmayodha' to start this August

Major Ravi, known for his movies centred on patriotism and military backdrops will start shooting for his new movie with Mohanlal titled 'Karmayodha' from the 17th of next month, that is the auspicious day of Chingam 1. The movie scripted by the director will have its initial schedules at Mumbai. Biju Menon, Kalinga Sasi, Remya Nambeesan, Asha Sarath, Rajeev Pillai, Bineesh Kodiyeri, Aishwarya Devan, Murali Sharma and new face Malavika appears in important roles. Produced by Haneef Muhammed, 'Karmayodha' will be presented by Red Rose Creations in association with MR Productions, the production banner of director Major Ravi.

Siddhique - Mohanlal Movie Named as 'Ladies and Gentleman

After almost twenty years from their last film together, Superstar Mohanlal and ace director Siddhique are joining hands for yet another movie. Titled 'Ladies and Gentleman', Siddhique has almost completed the story discussions with Lal this week and will be finalizing the script soon. Produced by Antony Perumbavoor in the banner of Aashirwad cinemas, Siddhique who is gradually working on his second Hindi project after the big hit 'Bodyguard' will kick start the shoot for this movie only by the opening months of next year.

The media giant of Kerala, Mathrubhumi will soon publish Superstar Mohanlal's collection of blog writings. The actor who identified social media and blog as a tool for social activism has been for quite some time scripting some with immense responses. This has prompted Mathrubhumi to publish them as a book, named as HRIDAYATHINTE KAIOPPU. The book will feature 34 jottings from 'Onnichu Oru Puzha Ozhukum' to the latest 'Ormayil Randu Ammamar' written as a protest to the T.P. Chandrasekharan's Killings.

Lal notes in the preface of the book, "I have lived as another person, as a doctor, as a singer, as a driver and so on for the major part of my life. Now, I long for becoming myself at some moments. I want to be person calledMohanlal..."

The book will be released by longtime friend of Lal, ace director Priyadarshan by giving a copy to Sathyan Anthikkad.

GRANDMASTER takes a Fantastic Opening - 2.30 Crores in 4 Days

Grandmaster takes a fabulous opening grossing 2.30 Crores in 4 days, which is pretty encouraging for a film of modern investigative genre. The opening day gross was nothing to rave about, as the film released on a Thursday. Grandmaster opened to about 80% on the opening day, grossing just about 65 Lakhs, but picked up by 15-20% on the weekend. The film carries favorable reports and shall be profitable if it does not fall more than 45-50% during the weekdays.
Grandmaster is the maiden distribution venture of UTV in Mollywood. It has got a far smaller release when compared to other Mohanlal flicks in recent times. Grandmaster released in 62 screens in Kerala on 3 May 2012. A good first week of about 4 - 4.50 Crores shall be magnificent for such a movie. The film is produced by Ronnie Screwala and Sidharth Roy Kapoor of UTV Motion Pictures, at a budget of 6 Crores. The satellite rights of the B Unnikrishnan directed movie goes to Surya TV for 3.25 Crores.

Superstar Mohanlal's new Malayalam movie 'Grandmaster' got released today. This new movie, scripted as well as directed by B Unnikrishnan was produced by Ronnie Screwvala under the banner of UTV Motion Pictures. Thus far, 'Grandmaster' is getting a big thumbs up from the first day viewers all across the state.

This new film 'Grandmaster' is UTV's first ever production venture in Malayalam and it featured south Indian beauty Priyamani, playing the female lead, as Mohanlal's heroine for the very first time in her career. Apart from Mohanlal and Priyamani, this film also features Anoop Menon, Narain, Roma, Babu Antony, Mitra Kurian, Siddique, Jagathy Sreekumar etc in its cast.

In 'Grandmaster', a racy crime thriller, Mohanlal plays the role of I.G Chandrasekhar, chief of MCD. He, who is also a divorcee, lives alone in a dark and violent city. Even when unlawful incidents take place around him, he withdraws himself from all responsibilities and is happy to live quietly.

In this new movie 'Grandmaster', Priyamani plays the role of Deepthi, Mohanlal's ex-wife, who is also a lawyer. They both have a daughter, named as Daakshayani. Chandrasekhar is well bonded with his daughter and wishes to spend almost all his time with her.

Once, a letter arrives in his office and suddenly he is jolted into action. The writer of the letter is a self-confessed admirer of Chandrasekhar and wishes to rekindle the fire in him and invites him to a game of hide and seek. Rest of the film tells us why the writer is forcing Chandrasekhar to take up this case and how he goes after the writer and get him caught.

Once again, Mohanlal was splendid to watch in his new avatar of a cool, smooth-talking as well as sophisticated police cop. Priyamani looked good in her role of a matured lawyer. Even though, they have a very brief role to perform, actors like Narain, Anoop Menon, Jagathy Sreekumar were nice to watch. Among all, the most shocking performance was from Babu Antony, arguably the most powerful character offered to him so far. Others in the cast like Roma, Mitra Kurian, Riyaz Khan etc have also done their part well.

'Grandmaster' brought back the hit combo of director B Unnikrishnan and actor Mohanlal, after the megahit 'Maadambi' and this new movie can be termed as B Unnikrishnan's best ever work so far. Script as well as direction by B Unnikrishnan was very good and the major thing that worked in favour of this movie is the suspense element and justification of killing.

Music as well as BGM were terrific and suited well with the mood of this film. Cinematography by Vinod Ellampally, Art direction by Joseph Nellickal, Editing by Manoj, Costume by Satheesh have all been noteworthy.

All in all, this new Malayalam movie 'Grandmaster' is a well made thriller film that will have you at the edge of your seat from the very beginning itself.

On May 3rd, Superstar Mohanlal will have his second release of the year, B Unnikrishnan directed Malayalam movie 'Grandmaster'. This new film, scripted by the director himself is being produced by Ronnie Screwvala, under the banner of UTV Motion Pictures.

'Grandmaster', a racy crime thriller, is UTV's first ever production venture in Malayalam. Apart from Mohanlal, this film also features Priyamani, Anoop Menon, Narain, Roma, Babu Antony, Mitra Kurian, Siddique, Sai Kumar, Sampath, Jagathy Sreekumar etc in its cast.

Last day, 'Grandmaster' got censored with a clean U certificate without any cuts and according to the censor board members, this investigative thriller is more of an entertaining, engaging and emotional film. They even went on to congratulate the director B Unnikrishnan, for making such a wonderful movie in Malayalam.

On May 3rd, 'Grandmaster' is releasing big in 130 plus theaters in Kerala alone. Apart from Kerala, this film will also have a never seen before type release in rest of India as well as in the overseas.

As the Chief of the Metro Crime Division (MCD), Chandrashekhar doesn't seem to carry the zeal andintensity for his duty as he would in the past. Possibly arising because of his unhappy relationship with his wife, although he adores his daughter.
On a regular working day, he receives a strange letter from an admirer who considers him a"hero". A letter intending to evokeChandrasekhar's preceding courage and valor. The admirer explains in his letter that he wishes to play a game that would revive his bravery; hence he is required to visit the beach of Aavanikkotta.

The next day when Chandrashekhar reaches the location he is astounded to realizethe murder of a woman named Alice and beside her lies an alphabet book with the letter 'A' crossed out.
In an alphabetically descending order, the killer is out murdering people till he reaches letter 'D'. Chandrasekhar's wife and daughter's name begin with the same letter and therefore he findshimself trapped in a game that needs him to protect his family.

What follow's next is Chandrashekhar' s investigation and his method to unravel this mystery and the serial killer

Rajini shoots in Mohanlal's studio!

It was earlier reported that the cast and crew of Superstar Rajinikanth's magnum opus, 'Kochadaiyaan', were shooting at the renowned Chitranjali studio. The latest is that they are now canning at Mollywood's top notch star Mohanlal's studio Vismaya Max Studio!

The post production work is taking place in a full swing in this studio that has all the amenities required to edit an animation flick.

The place is a media free zone with high level security, as it is for most of the Thalaivar movies. Scenes and songs featuring Rajini and Deepika Padukone were reportedly shot in a Kerala studio.

Sources further have it that Rajinikanth looks wow in and as 'Kochadaiyaan'. The performance motion capture film has an ensemble of stars in the lead including Rajini, Deepika Padukone, Sarathkumar, Aadhi, Jackie Shroff, Shobana, Rukimini and several others. Music is by AR Rahman.

The shoot will be wrapped in a couple of days following which the post-production work will begin for this biggie! 'Kochadaiyaan' will release come September.

SPIRIT completed in 31 days

For the first time in the recent history of Mollywood , a Mohanlal film has been completed in 31 days. Yes, the new movie 'Spirit' directed by Renjith has made a record by getting finished in minimum days. This will also help the movie to reduce its budgets just to half of a normal Lal film, which usually into around 5-6 crores. The movie about the growing alcoholism among the new generation Keralites, will be a satirical feel good film that will appeal to family and new generation viewers alike.

It is widely expected that Ranjith , who had spearheaded the revival of quality cinema in Mollywood , will create another satisfying and socially committed flick with this 'Spirit'. The movie is expected to be on theatres by next month.

ARABIYUM OTTAKAVUM MADHAVAN NAIRUM is to be remade in Hindi.

The newest buzz from the tinsel town is that Priyadarshan’s latest Malayalam flick ARABIYUM OTTAKAVUM MADHAVAN NAIRUM is to be remade in Hindi.
It is reported that Priyan himself will direct the film and Akshaykumar will be the producer. It is Priyadarshan himself who revealed in a recent interview that Akshaykumar will be financing the project.
The remakes of BODYGUARD, SINGAM and WANTED were chart toppers in Bollywood. Priyan now expects a similar hit.
Mohanlal, Bhavana, Lakshmi Rai and Mukesh played the lead roles in the orginal version. The name of the Hindi remake is not yet decided.
At present, Priyadarshan is busy with 'TEZZ' in which Anil Kapoor, Ajay Devgn, Zayed Khan and Kangna Ranaut don important roles. Mohanlal is also appearing in a guest role in this movie.

I have nothing to prove in Bollywood: Mohanlal

At a time when young entrants from South are looking to make a strong presence in Bollywood, Malayalam superstar Mohanlal feels that although the reach of Hindi cinema is wider, he has nothing to prove here as an actor.

Mohanlal made his acting debut in Malayalam cinema in 1978 with Thiranottam but the film never released due to Censor issues. Later, in 1980, he got to play the lead antagonist in his first release Manjil Virinja Pookkal at 20. Eventually, he did several such roles in various movies before he established himself as a lead actor.

It was after the success of his 1986 film, Rajavinte Makan, that he was labelled as a superstar of Malayalam cinema.

"I am working for 33 years there, what should I come and prove in Hindi industry? I am content and happy with my own language. If I get a good and irresistible role, only then will I try and do a film here. I don't want to prove anything," Mohanlal said.

"Lot of people, most of the actresses begin from South.They are newcomers and they try to do Hindi films as the reach is greater. There are so many factors. For actors like me South is fine," the 51-year-old added.

In 2002, Mohanlal played the role of a police officer in his first Bollywood movie Company, which introduced him to the Hindi-speaking audience in India. He won the IIFA star screen award for the best supporting actor in the Ram Gopal Varma directed movie.

Again in RGV's Aag, a remake of Sholay, Mohanlal played the role of Narasimham, a cop with a vendetta against the criminal Babban Singh played by Amitabh Bachchan. The movie bombed at the box office.

Ask him why he stayed away from Bollywood films even after being a superstar down South, he said, "I don't know. It is nothing like that."

Mohanlal feels South films have a smaller reach in comparison to that of Hindi.

"Kerala is a very small place in terms of making films.Hindi films are made for an international market, and we have a very small market. Tamil and Telugu have a major market in India. For Malayalam the main markets are Middle East, Europe, but its a small one. So the difference between south and Hindi films will reflect in all segments from production to song or dance sequences and stories too. If I am acting in a Malayalam film then it is for Kerala audience so we can choose films they like. Hindi films are amazing, trying new themes, multiplex revolution is there alongwith new methods of filmmaking" he said.

Mohanlal would be seen next in Priyadarshan's action-thriller Tezz alongside Ajay Devgn, Anil Kapoor, Kangana Ranuat, Zayed Khan, Sameera Reddy. The film releases on April 27.

"Unknowingly again, I am playing a police officer in Tezz, it is a small role. But the placement of the role is very critical in the film. I feel it is one of the best films of Priyan, I have seen the film partly. Especially the making of the film and the action sequences are amazing. Also, this is my third film with Ajay Devgn," he said.

On difference between acting in Hindi and regional films, he said, "Nothing much, lights, camera are same, only the language (changes). (Difference lies in) how you portray yourself in a film with your intelligence and how you put in efforts is your entire look out.I have done films in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, I don't find any difference. I am not fluent in Hindi. I used to learn Hindi but no one over there speaks Hindi so it is not that fluent. As far as doing films in various languages is concerned you have to by-heart your dialogues for that."

New Malayalam movie 'Grandmaster', featuring Superstar Mohanlal in the lead was scripted as well as directed by B Unnikrishnan. This new film will bring back the hit combo of director B Unnikrishnan and actor Mohanlal, after the Megahit 'Maadambi'.

Earlier, this upcoming film 'Grandmaster' was scheduled to get released on this April 27th, but according to the latest reports that are coming out, 'Grandmaster' will only have its release by this May 3rd.

It was earlier reported that on April 27th, it will be Mohanlal v/s Mohanlal in Kerala box-office, but with 'Grandmaster' getting postponed by one week, Mohanlal's Priyadarshan directed Hindi movie 'Tezz' won't have to compete with the other Mohanlal movie.

After the superhit ‘Christian Brothers’ , director Joshiy will once again team up with the Superstar Mohanlal for a new project. This movie has not titled yet.The actress will be amala paul.

Sachi of Sachi-Sethu duo, famous for the hits like ‘Chocolate ‘and ‘Robinhood,’ will pen the movie which will have its share of humour. Mohanlal will join the project after completing the shoot of his new Renjith movie ‘Spirit’ by the first week of May.

The latest to hear from the Malayalam film industry is about the new film from Rajesh Pillai for which Sanker Ramakrishnan is doing the script work. The surprise element is that superstar Mohanlal is doing an important role in the film. As per the sources Mohanlal has already given dates to Rajesh Pillai after hearing the story.

Mohanlal is currently at 'Spirit' location where he heard the story from Rajesh Pillai in the presence of Veteran director Ranjith. "It's my privilege to tell the story to an actor like Mohanlal in the presence of Ranjith whom I considers as my mentor." says Rajesh Pillai. Script Writer Sankar Ramakrishnan is currently doing an important role in Ranjith's Spirit. Rajesh pillai has made this film as his top priority inspite of his Hindi version of Traffic. Another highlight of this project is that Rajesh Pillai is also contributing to the script along with Shanker Ramakrishnan.

Now everyone is looking forward for another Traffic, as this dream combo is joining together for 'GOLD'. Lets wish all the best to its entire cast and crew.

Only on Sunday R Parthiepan conducted a blood donation camp in Chennai. While in Tollywood, its megastar Chiranjeevi is known for regularly holding such events. And now in Mollywood, Mohanlal is doing one such attempt.

The top star of Malayalam film industry will use his popularity to help patients and accident victims across the country who are in urgent need of blood.

In association with two NGOs, Indian Blood Bank Society and Act For Humanity, the actor has set up a website to connect blood donors all over India. All that one has to do to be part of this noble gesture is to register at www.indianbloodbank.com.

"The website can come in handy for those who are in urgent need of blood. It will compile the data of blood donors all over the country and will give it to the needy at appropriate time. I am happy to promote it," says Mohanlal.

It was earlier reported that Superstar Mohanlal's B Unnikrishnan movie 'Grandmaster' is all set to release by this April 27, 2012. Not everyone might have considered the fact that it's the same date on which Mohanlal's Bollywood film 'Tezz' is also getting released. If the current status doesn't get changed, then after a very long time, it will be Mohanlal v/s Mohanlal on April 27th.

This time, there is a slight difference in the case since the Bollywood movie 'Tezz', directed by Mohanlal's close buddy Priyadarshan will only have Mohanlal playing a very short but crucial role, that of a British Police Officer, with an Indian origin. But in 'Grandmaster', Mohanlal is in the lead role, that too of a Police Officer, who is very much intelligent as well as powerful.

Mohanlal is said to be in 'Tezz' for just about 5-10 mins but it won't have any effect in his die hard fans since they are to celebrate their idols appearance in each and every movie, even if it's a cameo. The makers of 'Tezz' will definitely stick on with the releasing date of April 27 and it is interesting to see whether the makers of 'Grandmaster' will go for another releasing date or not..

New Malayalam movie 'Grandmaster', directed by B Unnikrishnan has now completed it's shoot and the post production works are going on in a brisk pace. This new film was earlier planned to get released by the first week of April, but as of now, it's been hearing that this film will only have it's release by April 27, 2012 mainly due to the delay in completing it's post production works.

This new film 'Grandmaster' features Superstar Mohanlal and Priyamani in the lead roles. This film, scripted by the director B Unnikrishnan himself is being produced by UTV Motion Pcitures and it should also be noted that this film is the first ever film to be produced by UTV in Malayalam.

Apart from Mohanlal and Priyamani, this new Malayalam movie also features Jagathy Sreekumar, Roma, Narein, Babu Antony etc in the lead roles. Music for this film was composed by Deepak Dev while the background score was by Gopi Sundar. Cinematography was handled by Vijay Ullakanath.

This new film 'Grandmaster' will get distributed all across Kerala through Maxlab Entertainments.

Prakash Raj joins hands with Mohanlal

A mega Malayalam movie is in the making, by bringing together two big actors of south Indian cinema- Mohanlal and Prakash Raj. The latter was in Cochin recently to sign the project and has confirmed this on his microblogging page.

"Finalized a film in Malayalam. Due for a long time. Mohanlal + Kaniha + Prakash Raj in director Renjith's "SPIRIT". Shoot in March. Cheerss!!!" That's something to cheer about, indeed!," Prakash Raj wrote.

Meanwhile, the actor-producer-director is happy with the media reviews for his maiden directorial venture in Tamil, 'Dhoni', which hit the screens a couple of weeks ago. "The media has been extremely supportive."

Sources close to Prakash Raj say that he would continue his avatar as a director, but without compromising his acting career. "Because it is only from acting he gets the financial muscle to produce and direct meaningful ventures."
