Good News! You may get 100% cashback while booking rail tickets on IRCTC: here's how.

In a bid to encourage cashless transaction, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has initiated a lottery system where customers who buy tickets through might get a 100 per cent cash back.

Commuters who would want to avail of this scheme would have purchase the rail tickets through IRCTC and also pay through their app BHIM or UPI.

Passengers while paying for their tickets should opt for one of the two apps at the payment option which would make them eligible for the lottery. Every month five persons chosen through a random draw would get all their money refuned. They would be individually contacted over phone and email.

Authorities said that with the initiation of this scheme, people would be more encouraged to buy tickets online and there will be less crowd at ticket counters. This step would be a shot in the arm to the Centre which has been trying to promote cashless transactions.

After Apple did a very unprecedented thing when it issued a apology over slowing down older iPhone models. The Cupertino-based tech giant has now offered to replace any iPhone 6 or newer model's battery even if it has passed the diagnostic tests.

arlier Apple had offered a discount of $50 for replacing batteries of iPhone 6 or older, but according to a report by DailyDot, several of the customers complained that their batteries were not replaced as these batteries had passed the diagnostic tests at the Genius Bar.

The Diagnostic Test in question determines if a device can hold up to 80 percent of its original capacity after 500 complete charge cycles.

Apple has reportedly clarified that regardless of the device passing the diagonostic test or not, the battery of the device will be replaced. This effectively means that an iPhone X user can have their battery changed in $29.

The battery change plan from Apple is currently valid for one year and therefore it would be logical to wait for the year to end and have your battery changed.

French tech blog iGeneration has said that all Apple stores have received this information and users who had earlier exchanged their battery for $79 are eligible for a refund of $50.

Google is planning to launch a smartphone priced around Rs 2,000 in India. The device will run on the customised operating system called as Android Oreo Go which is meant for entry-level smartphones.

Mobile devices are expected to be launched based on the Oreo Go OS by various manufacturers. According to FactorDaily Google has partnered with various companies including Micromax, Intex, Lava, Karbonn to launch the devices based on the Go edition of the Android Oreo.

Micromax is expected to launch a device based on Android Go OS by the end of January.

Google Partners Indian Railways to Create Virtual Tour

In partnership with Google, the Railways has undertaken an elaborate crowd-sourcing exercise to create a digital repository of its rich heritage and provide passengers a free virtual tour.

In a pilot project, Google Cultural Institute has deployed six video screens at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Station (CSTM) in Mumbai showcasing the national transporter's rich history and heritage - with much of the content crowd-sourced.

"A virtual visit will never replace the real thing. But technology can help open up art and culture to everyone and we think that's powerful thing," said a senior Railway Ministry official involved with the project.

There will be more such screens at other stations to expose commuters to the Railways' past, said the official.

Even as the Railways began collecting rare pictures through its unique crowd-sourcing effort, it entered into an agreement with the Google Cultural Institute to digitise and showcase these slices of history on digital platforms and to help create a digital repository for free and universal online access.

Various other ministries and institutes of the government have already collaborated with Google Cultural Institute for displaying and preserving India's cultural heritage digitally.

Indian Railways has a huge list of heritage assets including bridges, steam locos, buildings, artefacts and museums which can be showcased for a global audience.

It currently has 34 museums, heritage parks and heritage galleries across India. It has also preserved about 230 steam locomotives, 110 vintage coaches and wagons at prominent places. In addition, it has a large repository of built heritage, including 25 bridges and 70 buildings.

"Once these are placed online, it will act as a great tourist attraction," the official said.

The Railways spends about Rs. 250 crores annually to maintain and manage the heritage assets.

"We are seeking private players' participation to help preserve rail heritage assets - like SBI Foundation is doing at CSTM," the official added.

As part of the Digitial India-Digital Rail campaign, Google is also providing free Wi-Fi service at 100 stations.

Indian Railways is preparing a comprehensive conservation management plan to preserve and promote its heritage assets. Besides, a dedicated rail heritage website under Railway Board's website is operational for dissemination of information.

Currently, the Railways has Unesco-accorded sites such as the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, Nilgiri Mountain Railway, Kalka Shimla Railway and Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus in Mumbai. Matheran Light Railway and Kangra Valley Railway are also likely to get World Heritage status soon.

Google will soon include Rewari Steam Locomotive Shed and National Rail Museum in the virtual tour, and later the Nilgiri Mountain railway will also be included.

If things go according to plan, all the rail heritage assets would be available online in the next 5-7 years.

इन्टरनेट की दुनिया में क्रांति लाने वाली रिलायंस जियो को इलाहाबाद हाईकोर्ट ने तगड़ा झटका दिया है । हाईकोर्ट ने सड़क, फुटपाथ और पटरियों पर लगाये गये रिलायंस जियो के टावर को सही नहीं माना है और इन्हें हटाने का आदेश दिया है। एक याचिका पर सुनवाई करते हुये यह उच्च न्यायालय ने यह फैसला सुनाया है और तीन माह के अंदर टाॅवर हटाने को कहा है। अपने आदेश में कोर्ट ने यह भी साफ किया कि भविष्य में रिलायंस कंपनी यह ध्यान रखे कि वह सड़क, फुटपाथ, नाली जैसे सार्वजनिक स्थानों पर टाॅवर न लगाये।
क्या है मामला
यूपी के इलाहाबाद में रिलायंस जियो कंपनी के लगभग 44 मोबाइल टावर लगे हुए हैं । इनमें कयी टाॅवर सड़क, फुटपाथ, पटरियों पर लगे हैं । इसी बावत इलाहाबाद हाईकोर्ट में याचिका दाखिल की गई और सार्वजनिक उपयोग वाली जगह से टाॅवर हटाने की मांग की गई।

मामले पर मुख्य न्यायमूर्ति डीबी भोसले और न्यायमूर्ति एमके गुप्ता की डबल बेंच ने सुनवाई शुरू की तो दलीलों में पाया कि लोगों की सुविधा व उपयोग के लिए बने सड़क और फुटपाथ पर टॉवर लगे है। याची की ओर से फोटो व अभिलेख साक्ष्य भी उपलब्ध कराये गये और बताया गया कि नगर निगम ने रिलायंस जियो कंपनी को सड़क, नाली और फुटपाथ जैसे सार्वजनिक उपयोग वाली जगह पर टॉवर लगाने के लिए 20 साल का पट्टा दिया है। रिलायंस ने जगह घेर कर 44 स्थानों पर जनरेटर के साथ टावर लगाया है।याचिका पर रिलायंस व नगर निगम की ओर से दलील दी गई कि कहीं पर अतिक्रमण नहीं हुआ है। इलाहाबाद हाईकोर्ट ने याची के पक्ष में फैसला सुनाते हुये सार्वजनिक स्थल पर टाॅवर को सही नहीं माना। न्यायालय ने इलाहाबाद नगर निगम को तीन माह के अंदर सार्वजनिक स्थल पर लगे टाॅवर हटाने का आदेश दिया है । याची मानवेंद्र सिंह ने बताया कि 12 टाॅवर अभी हटाये जायेंगे, अगर अन्य टाॅवर सार्वजनिक स्थल से नहीं हटे तो दुबारा कोर्ट की शरण में जाउंगा।

WhatsApp for iOS is getting a new update that brings two important features, notably, a picture-in-picture mode for watching YouTube videos, and a better way of recording voice messages. The information was first shared by WABetaInfo on Twitter.

Perhaps the biggest change is that YouTube videos will play directly inside the app, in picture -in-picture mode. Now when you receive a YouTube link and click on it, the video will open within the app itself. Earlier the video would open in the YouTube app or browser. Also, one can keep playing the video while you navigate to another window. Though it might not be a big update, watching videos while chatting with friends is a boon for many.

“When you receive a link to a YouTube video, you can now play it right within WhatsApp. With picture-in-picture, you can also keep watching the video while you navigate to another chat”, read the description on Apple App store.

The update also makes it easier for users to record long voice messages. Instead of having to hold down the microphone button, you can swipe up to lock the recording. And when you are done, tapping the finger ends the audio recording and send to the concerned person, notesMacrumors.

WhatsApp might be finally bringing in the feature that many have wanted for long. The Facebook-owned messaging service is reportedly testing an ‘unsend’ feature that lets users recall embarrassing or wrongfully sent texts. The ‘Delete for everyone’ feature enables users to wipe out messages before their contacts have read them. WhatsApp rivals including Telegram, WeChat and Viber already sport a similar feature, and it is high time that the leading IM service had it too.

WhatsApp has begun testing the feature on both Android and iOS devices, according to a WABetaInfo leak. The dedicated recall server is now working and successfully deleting messages. The service will be remotely enabled at a later time.

Further leaks revealed that recalled texts will also disappear from the Notification Center – both on Android and iOS phones. This essentially means that the receiver will have no trace of the sender’s message, except for the notification that it was deleted.

The Unsend function is expected to work on all kinds of messages, including text, photos, videos, GIFs, and files. We don’t know the exact date on which it is rolling out but is likely to be “available soon” as per WABetaInfo. Speculations about this feature have been rife for a while now. Last month, a ‘Delete for Everyone’ feature reportedly appeared in the beta version of the WhatsApp app on Windows.

And prior to that, in June, a leaked WhatsApp code revealed that the messaging giant was testing the feature. “The Recall feature will be remotely enabled in''.

कर्बोन A40 इंडियन एक पुराना स्मार्टफोन है जो अब तक 3,499 रुपये में बिकता रहा है। यह अमेज़न इंडिया पर उपलब्ध भी है। अभी यही फोन एयरटेल के खास ऑफर के साथ 2,899 रुपये में बेचा जा रहा है। कार्बन का फोन कंपनी के अधिकृत रिटेल स्टोर में बिक रहा है। लेकिन सीमित संख्या में। अगर ग्राहक अगले 36 महीने तक एयरटेल नेटवर्क पर हर महीने 169 रुपये वाले प्लान से रीचार्ज कराते हैं तो उन्हें शुरुआती 18 महीने बाद 500 रुपये का कैशबैक मिलेगा। और 36 महीने पूरे होने के बाद 1,000 रुपये का कैशबैक दिया जाएगा। इस तरह से ग्राहकों को कुल 1,500 रुपये कैशबैक मिल जाएगा और फोन की प्रभावी कीमत 1,399 रुपये होगी। मज़ेदार बात यह है कि कैशबैक पाने के लिए जियोफोन की तरह आपको हैंडसेट वापस नहीं लौटाना है। यह भी बता दें कि कैशबैक की राशि यूज़र के एयरटेल पेमेंट बैंक अकाउंट में आएगी।

जियो फोन यूज़र को वॉयस कॉल लाइफटाइम के लिए मुफ्त मिलेगी। इसके लिए यूज़र को हर महीने 153 रुपये प्रति महीने पर अनलिमिटेड डेटा (हर रोज़ 500 एमबी 4जी डेटा) का एक्सेस मिलेगा। इस पैक में अनलिमिटेड एसएमएस, अनलिमिटेड डेटा और कॉल का ऑफर है। यूज़र जियो ऐप्स का सब्सक्रिप्शन भी मुफ्त पाएंगे।

एयरटेल ने 169 रुपये का नया प्लान पेश किया है। इस रीचार्ज प्लान की वैधता 28 दिनों की होगी। यह अनलिमिटेड कॉलिंग की सुविधा के साथ आएगा और ग्राहकों को इस्तेमाल करने के लिए हर दिन 512 एमबी 4जी डेटा मिलेगा। बताया गया है कि ग्राहक चाहें तो कोई और भी रीचार्ज प्लान चुन सकते हैं। लेकिन ऐसा करने के बाद कैशबैक नहीं दिया जाएगा। अगर ग्राहक इसी सिम को किसी दूसरे हैंडसेट में इस्तेमाल करेंगे तो 169 रुपये वाले प्लान की वैधता 28 दिन की जगह 14 दिन हो जाएगी।

जियो फोन की खासियतें

फीचर फोन में बेहद ही साधारण किस्म के टास्क करने वाले ऐप होते हैं। लेकिन जियो फोन में आपको जियो म्यूजिक, जियो टीवी और जीवी सिनेमा जैसे ऐप मिलेंगे। जियो फोन में जियो स्टोर दिया गया है। यहां आपको वो सारे ऐप मिल जाएंगे जो फोन के लिए बने हैं। इनमें जियो सिनेमा, जियो टीवी और जियो म्यूज़िक जैसे जियो के ऐप भी शामिल हैं। जियो फोन में वाई-फाई और ब्लूटूथ के साथ जियोलोकेशन और एनएफसी भी हैं। टैप एंड गो पेमेंट के लिए एनएफसी का इस्तेमाल कर सकते हैं। फिलहाल,इस फीचर को रोलआउट नहीं किया गया है।

आप फोन के कंटेंट को आने वाले समय में टेलीविज़न स्क्रीन पर भी देख पाएंगे। कंपनी इसके लिए जल्द ही एक केबल टीवी एक्सेसरी उपलब्ध कराएगी। फोन में सॉफ्टवेयर अपडेट की सुविधा है। कंपनी ओटीए अपडेट देगी। आप वीडियो कॉल भी कर पाएंगे। जियो फोन एक वीडियो कॉलिंग फ़ीचर के साथ आता है, जो आपको किसी और फ़ीचर फोन में नहीं मिलता। वीडियो कॉल एक ख़ास ऐप के जरिए संभव है।

कार्बन ए40 इंडियन की खासियतें

कीमत को देखते हुए एंड्रॉयड नूगा सॉफ्टवेयर स्वागत योग्य कदम है। सस्ता है, लेकिन एंड्रॉयड फोन है। इस वजह से यूज़र गूगल प्ले स्टोर को एक्सेस कर पाएंगे, यानी फोन पर यूट्यूब, व्हाट्सऐप और फेसबुक जैसे ऐप काम करेंगे। ये ऐप फिलहाल जियो फोन में नहीं उपलब्ध हैं। एयरटेल के रीचार्ज प्लान के साथ यह फोन एक अच्छा विकल्प है, लेकिन इसमें कोई अनोखी खासियत नहीं है।

Jio Updates Rs. 149 Prepaid Plan to Offer Unlimited Data

Reliance Jio has quietly updated one of its prepaid packs to provide customers with unlimited data. The Rs. 149 plan till recently came with 2GB of bundled data with 28 days of validity – once the 2GB data cap was exhausted, the customer would have to buy a top-up voucher. In contrast, most other Jio plans came with unlimited Internet access at a lower speed even after the high-speed FUP was over. With Jio updating the Rs. 149 plan, customers will get unlimited data with this plan as well.

The Rs. 149 plan still comes with 2GB FUP for 28 days, but now users can access the Web at 64kbps speed after the high-speed quota is over. Notably, even though Jio has provided customers with unlimited Internet, the post-FUP speed is still lower than that of its other plans – the Rs. 96, Rs. 309 and plans priced higher all offer 128kbps speed, twice that of the Rs. 149 plan, once the data the high-speed is exhausted.

Jio’s Rs. 19 and Rs. 49 plans still do not have unlimited Internet access once the FUP is consumed.

The Rs. 149 plan costs a little less than half of the popular Rs. 309 plan that offers 56 days of validity and 1GB data per day FUP, and is a lot more lucrative. Even the Rs. 96 plan comes with 7GB of 4G data, even though the validity is just 7 days. The Rs. 149 plan is not available for postpaid consumers of Jio. Calls are free, of course, and the pack comes with Jio apps subscription and free SMSes.

With the updated plan, the Jio Rs. 149 plan has a slight edge over Airtel’s pack at the same price. The Airtel Rs. 149 plan for prepaid users comes with 2GB of data as well, and bundled Airtel-to-Airtel calls.

WhatsApp may soon get this much-awaited feature

NEW DELHI: It seems that Facebook-owned WhatsApp is finally bringing the much-awaited feature. The popular messaging app is reportedly testing the ‘unsend’ feature. The new feature will allow the users to recall the messages sent mistakenly.

To be called ‘Delete for everyone’ feature, it will enable the users to erase the messages before their contacts have read them. As per WaBetaInfo (@wabetainfo), a Twitter account that tracks changes in WhatsApp’s beta builds, the company is testing the feature on both Android and iOS. The leak also confirms that the dedicated recall server is now working and is deleting messages.

Apart from WhatsApp apps like Viber, WeChat, Telegram already have a similar feature. The leak further suggests that the ‘unsend’ feature will work on all types of messages including text, GIFs, Photos, videos and other files. The recalled text will also disappear from the notification center and the receiver will not find any trace of it.

Recently, the ‘unsend’ feature was spotted on Windows Phone. The feature allows users to recall sent messages within five minutes of them being sent.

It was recently reported that WhatsApp is also testing YouTube integration in its app. The feature would let you view YouTube videos without leaving the app. As of now if you tap on a YouTube video link, it forces you to open the YouTube app separately. The feature is being tested on the iOS beta app version.

This feature is said to be hidden in WhatsApp for iOS version 2.17.40. It allows users to playback YouTube video links in a picture-in-picture mode. The floating window can be resized using pinch to zoom gesture. There will also be an option to open the video in full screen mode and hide the chat window by docking the video on the size of the chat.

Reliance Jio is offering 100 per cent cashback for those who buy the JioFi device and exchange an old dongle

Reliance Jio is offering 100 per cent cashback for those who buy the JioFi device, and exchange an old dongle, router, 4G card along with this. The 100% cashback offer is listed on the Jio website under the devices segment. JioFi device is a hotspot device, which lets users rely on a Jio SIM to set up a WiFi hotspot and power other devices.

So how does this 100 per cent cashback scheme work for JioFi users? According to the offer’s terms and conditions, which are mentioned on the website, under the Dongle Exchange scheme, a user will have to pay Rs 1,999 to buy JioFi online, and in turn they will get benefits worth Rs 2,010.

This Rs 2,010 cashback is actually worth 10 top-up vouchers, which are priced at Rs 201 each. Jio calls this the “effective 100% cashback for the JioFi.” So technically, the cashback is in the form of some extra data.

If you don’t have an old Dongle to exchange, then the customer who buys the JioFi device online will benefits of only Rs 1,005. This is equal to five top-up vouchers of Rs 201. This puts the JioFi device price at Rs 994.

Jio has listed out the steps of how you can buy the JioFi device and get the old dongle exchanged. For starters, you need to buy the device from the official jio.com website. After this, you need to visit a Reliance Jio Store, Digital Xpress, etc, and take the original bill, the JioFi box, and your old dongle. If you don’t have the old dongle, then you still need to visit the store, if you want to claim the Rs 1005 benefits that Jio is handing out.

Once again, you will need to submit Proof of Address (POA), Proof of Identity (POI), and a passport size colour photograph in order to get the SIM for the JioFi device activated.

Jio has also put out a list of eligible dongles under this scheme, which can be handed over for exchange. The list includes dongles from Airtel, Idea, Vodafone, Tata, MTS, RCOM, Micromax, D-Link, Huawei, iBall, ZTE, Lava, Intex, Netgear and BSNL. You cannot hand in an old JioFi device for exchange.

After you get the JioFi device activated, you will have to recharge with Rs 99 for the Prime membership followed by Rs 309 or Rs 509 for the Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan offer. After this offer is over (the first recharge in Dhan Dhana Dhan lasts for 84 days), you will need to get a minimum recharge of Rs 149 and above, in order to keep this activated.

Don’t Return the JioPhone Before Three Years, Otherwise, You Will be Penalised

There were some rumours right after the launch of JioPhone saying that the company will offer a refund if you return the device before three years. Yes, it’s now officially confirmed that you can return the JioPhone before three years and the company even offers you some part of the security deposit.

But there’s a catch as usual. If you’re a customer looking to return the JioPhone before one year from the purchase, you will be penalised because Jio will be charging the entire security deposit amount of Rs. 1,500, and on top of that, you have to pay additional GST charges if any.

If you want to return the jio phone between 12 months and 24 months, you will be charged Rs. 1,000 and GST charges if any. Lastly, if you want to return the device between 24 months and 36 months will be charged Rs. 500 and GST charges on top.

The Recipient may return the JioPhone at any time during the period of three years from the date of the first issue on payment of the following charges (“Early Return Charges”):

Recharges Should be Done Regularly

Another highlighted term is that Reliance JioPhone should recharge the feature phone every month. “The Jio Phone is available for continued use on the Recipient purchasing telecom recharge vouchers of an Authorised Carrier (presently Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited) from the Company or any of its authorised retailers for use in the Jio Phone of a minimum value of Rs. 1,500/- per annum for a period of 3 years from the date of the first issue of the Jio Phone,” Jio website reads.

So, you have to spend over Rs. 4,500 only on recharges with the JioPhone. That said, your entire cost of the device will come to Rs. 6,000. Furthermore, if a user fails to recharge worth at least Rs. 1,500, the company has the right to ask the customers to return the handset. Also, these customers have to pay an additional amount as per the company.
