I turned the little guy into a snowman with a carrot nose! He was a hit! I had the students create the snowflakes with an online snowflake creator, and then upload their snowflakes to Google Classroom as an assignment attachment so that I could access the file easily and cut it on my Cricut Maker!

We got some navy blue door paper and it was the perfect backdrop for my fall themed door this season! The squirrel and pumpkins are from SVGcuts.com. The leaves were on Cricut Design Space and from one of my linked cartridges. I used SCAL to do the wording because I love how easy it is to create a shadow with that program. I then export the file and upload to Design Space to cut.

Snowflake Word Clouds for Computer Lab Door for Catholic Schools Week

We had Catholic Schools Week a couple of weeks ago and we all decorate our doors to celebrate our Open House. A couple of birch trees, a few red cardinals (we are in Virginia), and snowflake word clouds the 5th graders created adorn my computer lab door this year.
We used the Tagxedo website to make the snowflakes. The students chose words they felt described our school. The hardest part was cutting out the snowflakes! Yes, my "S"in snow is upside down- as a student pointed out to me this past week. :) oops!

COMPUTER LAB CLASSROOM REVEAL

The start of a new school year demands new bulletin boards, wall decorations, color schemes, and anything else that will help motivate and inspire middle schoolers to learn! I left SOME things up from last year- like the Create and Collaborate poster I made with the heads and gears. I just love how that turned out. I also left up my shortcuts circles because that's the best place for them. The APPle tree made the cut, too, because it's soon to be fall and more APPles are ready to grow on that tree :)

I am teaching 6th,7th, and 8th grade English this year on top of all the technology classes for K-8, so I added a few English bulletin boards/displays, and of course- the cursive banner!

My desk space! The big blue square with the red border is where my epson projects onto the wall. LOVE my projector- and it's whiteboard capabilities, WITHOUT the whiteboard!

One of my favorite changes was the curtains I made for the shelves. We store ALL the printer paper in those shelves and it was quite unsightly. Not anymore!

My lab door.

I made all the teachers grades 3-8 these posters so that we all are on the same "page" regarding the students' paper format. Made them in Publisher and saved as a JPEG, uploaded to Walgreens and TADA!

I placed them on the back of the door and they fit there nicely.

I bough a roll of whiteboard adhesive paper for the homework board. I used washi tape to divide it. Other brilliant teachers have done this in our school and I borrowed the idea from them.

Paper Star Garland and Pennant Banner for Computer Lab Makeover

I'm giving my computer lab a makeover this year! I'm so happy it's being painted this summer. It was a pale baby blue and now it's a darker gray/blue so anything I put on the walls will POP!
I'm trying to stick to a color theme, too. I've chosen navy and lime green. We have blue rolling computer chairs and gray tables so keeping blue was a necessity. We are St. Patrick School, so the green is a no brainer! Together they look fantastic and I was happy to find a good stash of those colors in my scrapbooking paper supply.

My first decoration is a star garland that I cut on my Cricut and SCAL using the star shape already installed in Sure Cuts a Lot, and then quickly sewed together on the sewing machine. I made one long string of about 60 stars and I will cut it as needed when I get in the lab to decorate. I cut the stars in different sizes ( anywhere from 2"- 5") and then just fed them into the sewing machine, leaving a bit of thread between each one.

My second project was a pennant banner using the same papers (except white). I plan to hang it across a bulletin board or in an empty corner of the lab. Again, I'll have to figure it out when I get in there. I cut 12 triangles on the Cricut- they are about 8" long. This is just a partial photo of the pennant. I punched holes with a hole punch and threaded them together with a thin ribbon. They cutest and easiest way to keep them in place on the ribbon was to tie ribbon strips between each pennant. I used coordinating ribbons and it turned out ADORABLE!

Of course, I will post an entire gallery of photos of this makeover - both before and after photos- when it's complete :) Stay tuned!

As usual, finding a season themed door for a computer lab was a difficult task. I saw many unBEElieveable bulletin board ideas on the web and decided to adapt it for my door. Technology is pretty amazing, anyhow, so it does fit :)

I had a hard time coming up with a technology themed winter door this year so I figured I'd put something up to help celebrate Catholic Schools Week 2015. No better quote than Psalm 51:7 for winter ;) I cut the snowflakes with the built in winter shapes in SCAL. The font I found for free on 1001freefonts.com. Easy peasy!!

I've noticed that my original short cut posters have been pinned on Pinterest A LOT! I've since updated them with primary colors for a bit of a change.. still not sure which ones I like best. Ignore the ugly air conditioning unit in the center! But it's a necessary evil in that lab! The second photo is of my door for this fall with Mario Bros, being the theme.... "Reach Your Goal with Technology!"

Knitting card made with toothpicks and twine

A special teacher's aide at our school is celebrating a birthday next week and I was asked to make her a card. Knitting is one of her favorite hobbies so I decided to make her a knitting themed card. I used toothpicks for the knitting needles and put mini pompoms on the ends with tacky glue. I used bakers twine for the yarn and YES, I actually knitted with the TOOTHPICKS!! It was an experience in itself! I hope she enjoys it!

Dear Ol' Dad turned 70 this past month! He's an avid tennis player. He plays daily with his buddies all year round. So, when SVGCuts.com came out with this new kit, I bought it immediately! I used vellum for the tennis racket strings. The paper is DCWV "Celebrations".

Anchors Away Birthday Party Invitation Card

My middle child is turning 13 next week and my parents have invited her to take some friends out on their boat for her birthday party! So, I put together this sweet party invitation... very simple to make and suits the theme! I've used this anchor before for my father's birthday card last year. A web freebie. This time I used twine rather than hemp because it's a bit more girly :) On the inside I typed "Let's have a Par-Taaay!" Yes, silly, I know!

Pop Art in the Computer Lab with Paint.net

Here is our final display board for our Pop Art projects made with the free program Paint.net! It's a wonderful POP of color in our lab. The frames were cut with my cricut. The students really enjoyed the project and the final product will be a great locker decoration.

My computer lab door is all decked out for Saint Patrick School's favorite holiday! It's fun to work at a school named after a Saint and holiday that everyone loves to celebrate! I used SCAL for the wording, Everyday Paper Dolls for the leprechaun, and the rainbow is made from paper chains. I cut the "coins" out of gold vinyl.

Simple Class Valentine's Day gift

Walmart had these cute little pop-up monsters- 8 in a pack for $1.97 that I thought would be a good alternative to candy for my 2nd grader's class Valentine gift. I cut a scalloped edge top, simple heart and a bunch of U's using the circut. My daughter enjoyed gluing the googly eye, heart and U onto the topper. Then I bagged the toy and stapled on the topper. She signed the back of the topper.

It's really hard to come up with a seasonal door combined with a technology theme!! A bushel of technology, rake in the technology, be thankful.... I decided on the latter. Next week I'll put up a winter theme so stay tuned :)

Digital Footprint Bulletin Board

October is Internet Safety Month, so I have focused on teaching about Digital Footprints. Students have watched videos, engaged in an interactive lesson, taken online quizzes, and finally created a visual representation of their own digital footprint- in the future. Using www.tagxedo.com, students uploaded a footprint image and filled it in using words they want to leave as their POSITIVE digital footprint. I encouraged them to think of their career- both college and professional. If someone were to do a search on them, what POSITIVE things would that potential employer find?? This was a great creative closing to this lesson. Obviously, I used the Cricut to do the wording on the bulletin board :) I don't have much wall space to work with in the lab, so this room divider needed to fit all of middle school's footprints! A bit crowded, but you get the idea.
