Here is the newest member of our tribe. No I didn't have the baby, lol, that's in July.

We picked up this Corgi-Lab mix free to a good home, kinda ad on Craigslist. My husband and I look around on Craigslist as a hobby, not a good thing, I guess. He is about six months old, according to the person at PetSmart. He is super sweet and loves the kids and likewise, the kids absolutely love him. He just made himself at home and was a sure fit from the beginning.

Stubby Foot runs so fast for being so short to the ground. He loves exploring in our backyard and my oldest son loves to take him on walks out front. He already knows and accepts the command "sit" and is learning everyday what we expect of him. I think the timing is just right, we have two months to settle in with our new pup before our baby comes and he is already mostly house trained:)

My Online Classes So Far

As you may know, I have returned to school to acquire an A.S. degree in Health Information Management, which is a mix between the IT and Health fields. I have started my online classes for the summer session. I am taking Medical Terminology and Introduction to Computers. Both are very interesting thus far.

For Medical Terminology, I have a House Project to work on. That is the Fox show House, M.D. I have to watch an episode and pull out the medical terms and define them.  This sounds easy and fun. My research paper is to be on any medical topic, only two pages, though. I have to pull the medical terms out and define them in my own words. Sounds fun enough. It's a good way to put into practice what I am learning. I like the text book so far too. It is easy to read and has definitions on every two page spread as well an exercise to use the terms.

As for Intro to Computers, this could go either way. The text is a little more difficult to read and I do not like it as much. The topics will get interested in time, but for chapter one it was Windows 7.  My computer was super old and I went from Windows XP straight to Windows 8. So for me learning how to use Windows 7 is just strange. But it is only one chapter. As for my research assignment, it's cool. I have to plan a vacation for two people with a max budget of $15,000. Pretty awesome. I will have to write a two page paper on this topic using Microsoft Word, complete a Power Point presentation, and an Excel Spreadsheet of the budget and totals. This too is a great way to implement what I have learned from the textbook.

Overall, I still have my doubts as to whether or not this is a good idea for the summer term.  With three boys to entertain and an newborn on the way in July. At least I am interested in the topics I am learning, which usually makes it easier to learn.

Wordless Wednesday Linky~ Ultrasound Pics

This week I share with you the latest ultrasound photos. She is so beautiful already and I cannot wait to meet her. I can already see some of her facial features and she looks so much like my husband.

My favorite one is where she has her foot near her face, how is she doing that. Well I am 31 weeks as of today, so almost eight months along now. Yay! July will be here before we know it.

Spring Cleaning Tiips

It's the perfect time of year for deep cleaning in your home. The weather is just right for this kind of task, it's not hot yet or supper cold anymore. The children are still in school. There are no major holidays for planning family gatherings. It's a slow time of year in preparation for the busy summer to come. Spring really is the perfect time of year to get into the back of those closets, reorganize, and get rid some things not needed anymore.

I will share with you some easy ways to help Spring cleaning go a little smoother.

Make a list of where you want to tackle. The closets, pantry, attic, craft room, playroom, or anywhere in your home that you feel is just cluttered or overwhelming at times. It is so easy to overlook these spaces when cleaning because we often focus on the areas the eyes can see. Making a list will help ensure that you do not miss a thing and help guide you.
Along with your list make yourself a timeline. Of course you are not going to get your house from point A to point B in one day only. Pace yourself, and choose one area to work on at a time.
Go to the Dollar Store or Target and invest in various sized of buckets, containers with lids, and canvas totes. If you think you have picked out too many, you probably need a few more. Stock up on them. While you're deep in a closest somewhere, you will be glad you did this. Use the buckets and containers to sort out those smaller items to place back into the closet or pantry. Use the canvas totes for items on shelves where it can be seen. You can never have to many organizing totes and buckets.
Do not be afraid to get rid of it. There may be items in your closest that you have not touched in years. Unless it is a priceless family heirloom or something with sentiment, just donate or even sell it. My rule of thumb is: if you have not used the item in one calendar year, then you may not need it. This does not apply to you when you are pregnant and nursing when nothing fits you.
Rotate your items in your home according to season/ holiday season. Organize your holiday décor according to season. Place all of your fall décor, Halloween and Thanksgiving items in a large tote bucket and label it. Do the same for Christmas or Hanukkah, New Year's, and winter items. Easter and St. Patrick's Day along with all of your spring décor together. Same with all of your summer items. I often look for items on clearance after the season and store it until the next year and this is a good system to help keep those items organized and maintained.
Select a system for storing the children's art work. Some people have shared some really great ideas on Pinterest. Make a file box for each child, sort their art work by school year. Some use binders to place their children's art work into plastic sleeves, which is great because it protects it and is easy to look at and share. Whatever works for you, but keeping it organized is the name of the game.
Speaking of kids! If your children are old enough, put them to work also. This will help teach them to the process of spring cleaning. They can go through their clothes, toys, and things to determine what they have outgrown. For younger children, you can help guide them in choosing what toys they keep and what clothes still fit them. Some parents even rotate the toys their children play with, this helps cut back on the daily mess.
Now is the time to pull out those items that we just dust around. What I mean by this is the electronics and such. Move those things around to dust and clean. Things like the computer, TV, DVD players, game consoles, and printer. Invest in a computer duster thingy that blows air through the little straw to get in all those tight places.
Adopt a system for children's clothing. Some people rotate for the season and put away clothing for the younger children. Some parents leave the winter clothing in the dresser with the summer clothing. Whatever it is you decide to do, now is the time to do it. No more cold fronts means there is no more need for those heavy winter clothes. Also putting away those heavy winter coats is a good idea. Find a good place to store these kinds of things safely.
Spring is a great time to clean up in the yard. Weather you garden or not, it is ideal to clear out the weeds before the new growth takes place. Maybe giving your yard a little face lift is in order. Plant a few new flowers or bushes to bring a fresh new look to your curb. Spring is a busy time of year for yard work, with all the rain comes a lot of new growth.

It's called spring cleaning for a reason; because it is the best time of year for that deep cleaning and all of the sorting. The best time of year indeed with mild temperatures and less busy as for entertaining family gatherings and holiday parties. Anyway you put it, I'm glad it's spring and am ready to tackle my home. As excited as I am about this change, I regret to inform you that the Friday Connection will be suspended. I am just preparing for school and do not want to continue hosting a blog hop that I just cannot keep up with. It wouldn't be fair to my loyal blog hoppians and readers.

WW~ My Baby Turned Nine!

Welcome to Wordless Wednesday!

This week we celebrated Long Foot 's Birthday

I cannot believe that my first born son just turned nine years old on Monday. He wanted to have his party at the skate park, but we convinced him to have his party at the house and everyone could bring their skateboard or scooter to ride in the road. (We live on a col-de-sac). Unfortunately we got rained out for like a week straight and big time flooding the day of his party.

We still had friends come over and guess what? They played Xbox for the duration of the party. We have the Kinect and so they had a blast and were still moving. It was a great time:)

As you can see from the picture I made a great skate cake. Stay tuned for that post coming soon.

This Mommy is Going Back To School

I have decided that as a stay at home, with a baby on the way, that I am here fir the next year at least. Which is great, I love that I have been blessed with this opportunity to be here for my children and am given the time to make homemade goods and try out new recipes. I love it!

Part of me wonders... am I doing enough with this time I am given?
I could do so much with this blessing of time. My husband is the sole provider of our house and it works, for now. I am going back to school, mainly because the degree that I have obtained, will not put me in position of bringing home any real income. Real income aside from the cost of childcare, I would probably be in the negative.

I will be studying health information management, where the administrative end of the medical field meets the technological world. It will be another A.S. degree, but one that will pay a decent salary with credentials. When my children are all older, I want to be able to work in a career that I enjoy and is in demand. The best part about this program of study is that it is offered solely online as well as in class. So I can complete the entire program at home.

That being said, I want to let you know that I will maintain Big Foot Tribe with all of my heart. I will continue to host the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop, will still bring you tips and tricks I learn in the kitchen, will participate in the blogger opportunities, reviews and giveaways. Big Foot Tribe will remain a huge part of my life that I share with all of you.

Really, the only change will be the Friday Connection Blog Hop. Now as most of you know, I have brought on a co-host. Mom Loves 2 Read and I have decided to do a monthly blog hop link up. It will still be a social connection link up. We will be creating a new name and button for this new monthly hop. I am excited about this change because I do think it will bring more bloggers to the link up. We will promote the hop as much as possible and encourage all to place the new button on their blog side bar. I look forward to wrapping my head around new concepts with the return to school and learning in the medical field. There is much change coming my way this year and it is all so exciting. Change is a good thing and I am ready to embrace it.

My son turns 9 on Monday

My oldest son, Long Foot, will be 9 on Monday, May 6. We are celebrating his party this weekend. I cannot wait to share with you all of the details and tidbits that I have been working on. We are doing a skateboard themed party at our house and our guests were welcomed to bring their skateboard or scooter. We are closing down our col-de-sac so the kids can skate in the road. Fun!

Here is a cake I found that I just cannot wait to make. I am "stoked" to try my hands on another awesome cake.

As a busy mom on the go with the children, I am always looking for durable, eco friendly products to store the children's snacks in. I look for alternatives to plastic, which is so prevalent nowadays. I had the opportunity to review these MIRA Stainless Steel containers.

We went to the Discover the Dinosaurs event this weekend and I would like to share with you a few of the fun moments. We had a blast.

There was something for everyone at the convention center. Below the boys were digging for dinosaur bones.

Mini golf, dinosaurs everywhere and bounce house galore. I couldn't really capture them in the dinosaur bounce houses.

So, I had a very unfortunate event that landed in me taking a road trip with my mom. Sadly my grandmother had passed away in Texas. My mother and I drove halfway across the country from South Carolina to Texas and somewhere near Shreveport, LA I saw these pay phones. It was so charming that they had a little seat I front of each pay phone.
