Good morning A Little Etsy Lovers. Today I've got a bit of sad news to report. The editors of A Little Etsy Love, after many years of dedicated work in tribute to what we all love, handmade, have decided it's time to move on and close down this blog.

We've really enjoyed our purpose: to promote the work of artists & artisans we love through features and giveaways for free, and even more have enjoyed bringing their work to your eyes. However, due to the stress of running a blog like this for free, we all came to the consensus that we could no more.

We've loved every minute of it, and want to take this opportunity to thank you, our readers for helping to grow this blog as much as it has over the years! Thanks for your dedication, your participation, and your feedback, we've really appreciated it!

We will be deleting this blog on Monday January 14th by the close of the business day.

It's always hard being so far away from a sister I love so dearly, but I am happy whenever I wear Katie's bracelets because I know that so much love and kindness went into making them.

The newest items in Katie's shop are the paper goods! She's made the journals for a few months now (I have a lovely one I keep on my bedside table), but the greeting cards popped up on Etsy recently just in time for the holidays! This is so typical of my sister... when we were kids doing art projects together, I was always a "color inside the lines" girl whereas Katie was constantly brainstorming, dreaming, and making new things. I have always admired her creativity and I am so happy that she has found success doing what she loves!

"Gradually, I went from not being able to sew a needle book with a straight stitch to making my bright yellow prom dress so I looked like Belle from Beauty & the Beast. Something must have struck a chord with my date, whose vest and tie I also made, because five years later, we got married. I made my wedding dress out of brightly-colored Indian saris...and he helped me cut out my veil on the floor of our college coffee shop when everyone was gone for the summer." This is Undine from Atlantis. She has multi-colored hair that is accented with shells and pearls she's found in coral reefs around her home. Her tail is sparkly and scaly and her gathered top is made out of iridescent (upcycled) silk that she found in a sunken ship. Sequin-barnacles dot her skin to make her sparkle as she glides through the water. (Please allow 1-2 weeks for her to get ready. Looking this good takes hard work!)

Cinnamon Jewellery on etsy caught my eye as the perfect example of just that: a shop for the earring obsessed! Artist Tracy Smith loves creating jewelry (mostly earrings) using sterling silver, copper, glass, pearls, and leather components and even dabbles in enameling.

One positive thing that the handmade community encourages and has brought back is personal correspondence. In today's world, most are so electronically connected that writing good old fashioned letters as a way to stay in touch with friends and family has become obsolete. But for me, and for many who appreciate handmade and those things that still retain low tech personal touches, all this revolution has accomplished is to make receiving a snail mail letter all more exciting!
