My father's home has large kitchen completely furnished except for dishwasher. I use paper plates, plastic cups and paper bowls. I dine out to get out of the "house of memories". Fazoli's on 19th St. is my regular place to eat. Now and then another person that lives alone will eat there. I saw "Jimmy" from med school several times and he's was good old guy that may be alone as well. Fazoli's has good, fast Italian food, decent music and family atmosphere. Recently I saw a family of 6 eating out and little brother finished early and was hyperactive. He tried to choke older brother while he was eating. Their sisters were coloring on a Fazoli's coloring book. Little brother later went wandering around restaurant and I told his mother,"He may be looking for boy's room.". She got up,found him and disappeared into restroom. Another time I was at Fazoli's on 82nd St. and two women and 4 young girls were eating supper. Young girls kept looking a "this grey bearded editor" and were giggling. It's been years since I made any girls giggle. I eat out and dine alone with dear old dad gone and that is a new experience. Today I got a Christmas card that was anonymous saying,"From Someone Who Cares". Dear old dad send out quite a few Christmas cards and I'm not into that routine . I had to go get a copy of dad's family trust because trustee and lawyer weren't smart enough to know it was needed to transfer old LCR headquarters mobile home from dad's name to mine. I watch TV more with Dish network but it's tough sitting in the chair across from dad's relax-a-lounger with him not in it. I delivered a $100 check to Lubbock Chamber of Commerce for "peanut butter drive" and also went to 3 Dollar Generals and 3 Uniteds to buy canned potatoes and Chili w.No Beans to make the U-Can-Share barrels heavier. The wind stripped 2 pieces of metal underskirting from my old mobile home while I was in town but everything else was not damaged.

Another uneventful day here at LCR headquarters.
_______________________________________________
"The People Have A Right To Know"
Nostradamus

Food is what feeds people and animals. South Plains Food Bank is currently collecting cans and now people can dedicate donations that will buy peanut butter from local suppliers. $20 will buy a case of peanut butter at Lubbock Chamber of Commerce. You help local peanut growers and peanut butter is full of protein. Donate cans of vegetables, chili and fruit to the U-Can-Share barrels and shell out those 20 dollar bills or checks at Lubbock Chamber of Commerce for peanut. I will do both today. December is a holiday month and let's "Feed The Poor" as B.B.King would say.

Clif Burnett
_______________________________________________
"The People Have A Right To Know"
Nostradamus

Donors have become fewer and less are donating in large sums. Recently Tech athletic department literally "mortgaged the future" with 30-year bonds to finish the opulent upgrade at SBC Jones Stadium. Corporations are not sending in as many donations due to economic downturn and higher costs of doing business like skyrocketing minimum wage. Just recently attendance at Tech basketball games has become so dismal that camera crews now avoid the stands to keep from revealing the lousy attendance. Tech football has thrived even though most won/loss records are barely above average except for an occasional "great year" like last year. Tech even stooped to a new low by requiring a mandatory Red Raider Club donation to get access to certain sections and season tickets thereof. Tech athletic events have become so expensive for tickets and food/beverages that only government workers can afford to attend the games. The ugly truth is Texas Tech is not A&M or UT and never will be. It doesn't matter how good the won/loss records are the Tech tradition will only go so far. I for one do not support Texas Tech and often wonder when the "bottom will drop out" at Texas Tech and the athletic department. Texas Tech is now in "borrow&spend" mode and I will not help finance that "live for today" small mindedness mentality at Texas Tech.

Clif Burnett
LCR Editor
_______________________________________________
"The People Have A Right To Know"
Nostradamus

"DAD" Burnett died with no will and a poorly defined trust. This editor has been harassed and shunned by all family members for refusing to be shafted by other heirs in the settlement of "DAD's" estate. Never has Clif Burnett been sued for any blog, letter to editor or email until this year. I've been threatened, harassed and coerced by lawyers all this year. Being a member of the "Burnett Family" has never been any fun. I've been a virtual recluse for 2 years since LCR's beginning because my LCR content is abrasive, abusive and controversial. I get hate email, callers that hang up,other harassment, but it's the nature of a tabloid editor. I had to even expose members of my own blood family by simply holding them to same standard I hold other subjects to. I do not strive to make friends with LCR copy but I am not malicious by intent. I've found out people love my critical approach to blogging but many avoid me in person and consider my blog of no use to society in general. LCR has loyal readers just like the National Enquirer or The Star. I've been called the Matt Drudge of Lubbock and "Bulldog" Burnett. I've been accused of racism and bigotry and some of my adjectives can be defined that way. I always respect others feelings in public but I will "take no prisoners" on my blog. I'll keep blogging unless LCR is ordered closed by authorities. We can only hope LCR's beacon of "Freedom of Expression" is not turned off by someone somewhere beyond this editor's control.

Clif Burnett(D)
LCR Editor

This editor will take a few days off to meditate and mourn in private the loss of "Dad" Burnett. My father supported me 100% in my LCR exposes of government waste and corruption. It's heartwrenching to look to the future without dear old "DAD". He was my father, older brother figure and the backstop in my life.

RIP,"DAD"!
_______________________________________________
"The People Have A Right To Know"
Nostradamus

During my late father's recent sickness/untimely death I used LCR to keep readers up-to-date on the Burnett Family and the effect on it my father's ill health had on said family. One heir was appointed trustee of the estate and blatantly attempted to use executor power. This trust did the following things that I will testify to in court if the civil action against myself proceeds.

A.Two heirs agreed verbally to to $51,000 value on the entire estate($42,000house/lot+$9,000 for car, tractor, furniture). Two heirs later reneged on this agreement hired local lawyer and demanded $64,775 claiming trustee estimated market value was higher than LCAD assessed value. Two heirs even conspired without consulting this editor to get "anonymous" bid offering the bloated new value of $64,775. This editor balked at the whole scam and one heir hired another legal team and offered to match "anonymous" bid thus forcing this editor to accept the new value or lose property.

B. Trustee attempted to execute an "illegal" eviction under advice of trust attorney literally demanding I evacuate property in 72 hours or else. Trustee's lawyer was ignorant of eviction law and constable informed trustee it was actually 30 days and if I failed to leave property hearing would have to be scheduled in JP court. Another JP advised this editor that as co-inhabitant court would probably deny eviction request an recommend arbitration. I wanted arbitration but other two heirs were afraid arbitration would rule verbal agreement of $51,000 should be used. Both heirs refused arbitration threatening to go to County Judge for a ruling. County Judge could have ordered all property appraised and liquidated and all 3 heirs get equal part of liquidation funds. This editor reluctantly accepted the $64,775 value to avoid possible liquidation order.

C. Trustee and other heir now have civil action pending trying to get "damages" because their actions and trust lawyers actions were published here at LCR. There was no court order declaring the trust business private but trustee seems to think "Freedom of Speech" and "Freedom of the Press" should not apply to LCR or this editor.

This editor published facts about the actions of both heirs, the trustee and their lawyer. Their actions were possibly illegal, obviously unethical if not down right immoral. One heir has now hired her third lawyer and the trustee has hired her second lawyer trying to get "more money" in the form of "damages" when in fact the two heirs received a total of $280,000 in cash from the trust which was 80% of the funds in said trust. This editor encouraged readers to express their opinions on email or in snailmail to these two heirs by publishing their email addys and physical addresses. All those addresses are PUBLIC RECORD and not private information. Some readers must have expressed outrage in writing because one heir moved to new address and another heir discontinued her public email address published here and has a private email address. This editor was even accused of encouraging readers to send a "virus" when I simply said "send these women your opinion,SPAM 'em", The conduct of these two women was so disgusting that the outrage expressed by someone other than this editor has their civil action claiming they(the other heirs) have suffered public ridicule and humiliation for their conduct. LCR and this editor held these two women(heirs) to the same "show no mercy" standard I've used for two years on republicans, democrats, libertarians, public employees or anyone else involved in activities this editor considers unsavory, illegal, immoral or in bad taste. These two heirs humiliated themselves by being greedy, unethical and possibly dishonest. I just reported it. Reporting "shithead" conduct is called "tough journalism". These two heirs couldn't hack "tough journalism" and filed civil suit. I'll meet these women in court and "air their dirty linen" in open court under oath if that's what they want. I will not be intimidated by these two members of the "weaker sex" with a two-bit attorney.

STAY TUNED!

Clif Burnett is "Ready To Rumble"!!_______________________________________________
"The People Have A Right To Know"
Nostradamus

One went as far as to say I was unfit to wear a Lubbock Democratic Party t-shirt that I designed and paid for. Another accused me of being a divider, not uniter and I would receive no help from any executive committee member if they had their way. Local democrats have always been as bad as the local republicans and maybe worse in some ways. I ask for no help in my introductory email and expected some opposition from "the clique" the hispanics/women operate at democratic headquarters. It's not unusual for small minds to be losers and not want to be a winner. They are called defeatists. I will campaign against the "big government republicans" locally while the local democrats sulk in the "loser's circle". The political ballpark will be open until election day in March of next year. I will NOT attend democrat functions just like I didn't attend republican functions. I will campaign and get my name out to the "voters" in same fashion as I did two years ago in the republican primary.

Let's "Rock&Roll",You Donkeys!!_______________________________________________
"The People Have A Right To Know"
Nostradamus

I'm also allowed to use adjectives not common in commercial endeavors. LCR and this editor were recently targeted by two family members(unnamed) in a frivolous civil suit accusing LCR and this editor of defamation and making false statements about these family members. I reported exactly what happened with no window dressing. I was harassed by a lawyer as well as one family member without just cause. I used family members actions, statements and other accounts to show just how "crazy" it got during my father's final months and his post life as it effected my personal life. I used "wild statements" made by family members, bizarre actions by family members to show readers the effect money and tangible wealth can have on people who are related to me. The actions I reported here on this blog became newsworthy when ethics and laws were ignored by family members. I attempted in good faith to bury my father and help redistribute his estate in a professional and private manner. When the other heirs began their bizarre, illegal and unethical actions then, and only then, did it become newsworthy and blog entry material. Readers may have expressed support or non-support for me toward other heirs. I at no time ever encouraged readers to harass or do harm to anyone. I had no other avenue to deal with the other heirs but to report their unprofessional behavior on LCR. I received many emails expressing outrage at other heirs conduct and also received a countless number of verbal and written shows of support to challenge the other heirs attempt to auction my father's property off to get more money. I stood tall while the other heirs were lurking in the weeds. I regret lowering myself to their level but I had to meet them on "their terms" not mine. It was truly disappointing and a "sad learning experience" for Clif Burnett.

Clif Burnett
LCR Editor

This editor cleansed all references to other heirs in this blog's archive and has agreed to never discuss the bizarre events detailed here at LCR on this blog,or any other blog or publication even though the civil action taken by the two other heirs is "totally frivolous" in my opinion. This editor also has agreed to not publish or discuss the final terms of the settlement even though terms should be made public. I for one am embarrassed that it took my blog to expose "the greed" that permeated the settlement of my beloved father's estate. I'm sure James&Mary Burnett would be very distraught at how their 3 children acted "like children" in settling their parents estate.
_______________________________________________
"The People Have A Right To Know"
Nostradamus

Both families filed civil action claiming defamation and slander in LCR's coverage of the Burnett Family Trust and distribution of assets. LCR editor regrets having to use "Freedom of The Press" to expose the activities of the heirs of Burnett Family Trust assets. LCR did not publish anything close to libel since the definition of libel is "knowingly printing something that is untrue with malicious intent". LCR simply printed the truth about the trustee and other heir's conduct. To close the ugly family matter this editor has deleted all entries about the Sherrod&Brown family and will forego any other mention of these people in reference to Burnett Family trust matters on this or any other blog. This editor discourages readers from being in contact with the Sherrod or Brown family by phone, email or U.S.mail period. LCR only intended to "shine a light" on how a family trust and assets thereof could create circumstances that were painful for all heirs, especially this editor. This editor admits "no wrongdoing" and discourages readers to refrain from "any wrongdoing" toward any heirs of Burnett Family Trust assets. This editor extends his humble apology to other heirs if mine or readers reactions to the Burnett Family Trust debacle caused emotional or physical distress.

May "DAD" Burnett Rest In Peace.
_______________________________________________
"The People Have A Right To Know"
Nostradamus

Jeffrey Silverstein, chief executive officer of I.R.I. Golf Group, said the company’s letter will explain the situation to members and include a form to be signed and returned. I.R.I. and a predecessor company Silverstein founded, GolfMark, managed the course for more than a decade under a long-term agreement with property owner W.G. The three conservative Republicans favor digging up the $30 billion to $40 billion for the buildup from somewhere else, maybe anywhere else, than through raising taxes."Instead of increasing taxes to pay for additional military spending in Afghanistan, I believe Congress should focus our efforts on identifying areas where we can reduce wasteful spending and practice fiscal restraint," Abilene Congressman Randy Neugebauer, a Republican from Lubbock, said. Raising taxes during rocky economic times is not the answer, Neugebauer said. Congressman Mike Conaway said lawmakers should put in place a spending policy the country can afford as they look at paying for whatever the federal government does. "But a war tax, that just sets up a bad dynamic to say that," Conaway, a Republican from Midland, said. Conaway said he supports House Minority Leader John Boehner’s idea to use unspent money from the $787 billion stimulus package to pick up the tab for war costs. Congressman Mac Thornberry said he’d prefer using unspent bank bailout money, dollars for the global warming bill, funds that were to be used to finance health care reform or stimulus money. "Defense comes first," Thornberry, a Republican from Clarendon, said. "I’m a little suspicious of these people who get fiscal religion only when it comes to national security." It’s important Afghanistan not return to being a terrorist sanctuary, he said. Some Democrats have pushed for a "war tax," but in general, Democrats aren’t expected to be open to using stimulus funds for a war, especially considering many dislike the Middle East wars.____(Trish Choate/Abilene Reporter News copy)
_______

Another dumb tax idea from democratic congress and Obama. Lady read it and appeared uninformed of who Clif Burnett is. I smiled and asked if it was legible and she said yes and I departed quietly. I suspect she called Pam Brink immediately since the "weaker sex democrats" are known for their gad about telephone habits. I also ordered 5 new Lubbock Democratic Party t-shirts at California T's with Clif Burnett underneath the emblem so I can campaign without a nametag. Starting next week I will quietly begin my "Revive The Lubbock Democratic Party" campaign as the editor hopes to bring the local democratic party out of it's coma. The democratic headquarters locally has a hideous "OBAMA" bumper sticker on it's front door. Those people must have not read the local election results that had McCain/Palin getting 70% of the vote in Lubbock county. If I were to be elected I would immediately spray WD-40 on that bumper sticker and scrap the damn thing off. Local democrats appear almost oblivious to local politics and that's how the ex-democrats and neo-cons got a stranglehold on local government.

What A Pity!
_______________________________________________
"The People Have A Right To Know"
Nostradamus

The City of Petersburg has been fined $2,300 by TCEQ. TCEQ says the violation is failure to maintain a wastewater treatment facility at optimum performance. Public records say it's the third time in five years for the city to be cited for this violation. In July, a TCEQ staffer noticed weeds in Petersburg's wastewater pond. Sludge had filled the pond. Public records say Petersburg agreed to make corrections and agreed to pay the fine. Also on the agenda, the agency will fine the City of Meadow in Terry County. The fine will be $1,680 for failure to maintain adequate safeguards.____(CH.11 copy)

_______

Two small towns have been fined for failure to meet TCEQ regulations and that's not unusual for small Texas towns.

_______________________________________________
"The People Have A Right To Know"
Nostradamus

The republican party left their smaller government, lower taxes platform with me on the platform. I will not be a democratic congress/president cheerleader. I will be totally involved in state and local politics. I will also be active in republican candidate campaigns if they share my small government, lower taxes ideology. This editor will "cut no slack" to any candidate of any party. The fixed income people like myself have been the victims of both democrat and republican mismanagement of the government financed by tax dollars. I have no delusions and this campaign will probably get nasty because the status quo in the local democratic party has a distinct "perfumy" smell. Mr.Charles Dunn informed me two years ago,"It's not because you are a republican Clif,It's because you are a man,That's why those at democrat headquarters won't like you." I will "show no mercy" on the "weaker sex" and that's the way I will operate.

I'm ready to "Rock&Roll"!!_______________________________________________
"The People Have A Right To Know"
Nostradamus

Tomorrow I will deliver candidate form that will place my name on the Democratic Party primary ballot for County Chair. I informed Chris Winn,by phone,of my decision today. I've been a republican since 1972 and my father was a Goldwater republican. 2 years ago I received 19% of the vote(3,700+) for county chair of the Lubbock Republican Party. 81% rejected my "lower taxes/smaller government" platform. I've been critical of all incumbents, especially local republicans, who are actually ex-democrats. I was asked some time back if I wanted to be Libertarian County Chair and I declined. I'm actually an independent but I have voted for both democrats and libertarians in general elections for over 10 years. It was a difficult decision but I must disassociate myself with local "big government/higher taxes" republicans like Patti Jones,Delwin Jones, etc. I will not look back as the "putrid"(morally corrupt) members of the Lubbock Republican Party contaminate the term republican.

Clif Burnett
LCR Editor
_______________________________________________
"The People Have A Right To Know"
Nostradamus

I haven't decided which party I will run in since it looks as though both parties are virtually contaminated with bad ideas and terrible candidates. I am toying with the idea of running for county chair of either the republican or democrat party. The republicans are full of ex-democrats and the local democrats are on life support. I may very well run in democratic primary so I can criticize the local morons in the republican party from the "other side of the field". I've been accused of being a democrat, libertarian and other names that are unmentionable. I had previously announced to run as a republican but the feminists and ex-democrats in that party have become so offensive that I may just avoid the (R) like the plague. Such clowns as Chris Winn,Patti Jones,Delwin Jones and Randy Neugebauer have virtually made voting republican down right dumb. I am actually an independent but everyone knows there are only 2 parties and locally the democrats are the less harmful since they hold so few offices(3). As a lifelong republican I may have to put my name on the (D) ballot just to avoid the creeps calling themselves republicans here in Lubbock county.

Stay Tuned!
_______________________________________________
"The People Have A Right To Know"
Nostradamus
