During the Christmas season I watch as people spend countless money on gifts and extras that aren't really needed but are nice to have. They make their "wishlist" out and hope someone "gives" them everything that they want under those beautiful Christmas trees. I love Christmas just like everyone else. I truly do. But I really see it as a "keeping up with the Jones" a lot now. During this year I have had to face a lot of realities. My job, my health and my marriage and my dreams. I was once at the top of my game and have recently been replaced by a possible younger me. That has been very difficult to deal with. Especially since I was bumped to another shift so my replacement could go to my 1st shift position. The reason being my health I think has had a lot to do with it. I have a blocked artery just below my heart. It's making me weaker and more tired every day. It's hard for me to keep up with the younger ones, even though I try very hard too. My doctor Dr. Steve H. Tyndall, MD at the Nebraska Heart Institute in Lincoln, Nebraska has told me that the surgery is vital to my health. As of yet, I have not had the surgery. The problem is the cost. Don't get me wrong, I do have insurance, but they will only cover 80% of the cost. The typical amount that most insurances cover. I certainly can't pay the 20% they are asking. Even with a payment plan. What's worse is even if I could have the surgery, the time off from work would cause me to lose my home and everything I have tried to work for all these years. My monthly bills would not get paid. I have nothing to "tide" me over. The reason for this is, I'm also going through a divorce. My husband abused me, an alcoholic and still harasses me. I used everything I had in savings to get a lawyer to help me. He still scares me. Every day, every night. We all know everyone has their "wishlist" for Christmas. Here is mine, but I know that in reality it will never happen. I have accepted the fact, that given my health I will either have heart failure and die alone, or lose my job because of my health and still lose everything I've worked for. And yes, still have to deal with a soon to be angry, alcoholic, vengeful ex-husband. But I've had to face,that yes, I am alone. There is no one to help me. No one to take me to doctors appointments, no one to pay my bills and certainly no one to be there to mourn me when I've passed. But given the time of year here is my "Wishlist": 1.)To get the surgery needed 2.)To be able to afford to pay the bills while I'm recuperating. 3.)A home to call my own, so I will know I will never be kicked out. 4.)My bank loan paid off for paying the lawyer and keeping a roof over my head, after my husband left me. Although it cost me to put my vehicle up as collateral. If I can't pay the loan, I will also lose my vehicle. These are my wishes for Christmas! As far as my dreams, well I've only got one. I would love for me and my sister who lives in Michigan to take a vacation to Ireland.We have not seen each other since 2003. I miss her and well her health isn't the greatest either, she has RH and a difficult time with that also. I know that God has his plan for me, and I have asked for forgiveness for all of my sins and failures. I try very diligently to pray to God to thank him each night for what he has given me and to ask him to allow me to wake up to another day, no matter how hard it is. And every morning I try to thank him again for allowing me to wake up and not be taken during the night. I am alone, I will continue to be alone, but I also know that God is there. I think he's keeping an eye on me, at least that is what I told my family doctor Dr. Nate Kotera at Saunders Medical Center in Wahoo, Nebraska. I think God chose him for me to see. He listens and hears what I say. Actually listens. He helps me with the cost of medication and to try to keep me pain free as much as possible. He is a blessing to me. I hope God remembers what a wonderful and caring person he is this Christmas. He will be in my prayers. So to all you readers out there, remember this Christmas season when your families are driving you crazy, and your running your butts off from one store to the next to get that perfect gift. Take some time to reflect upon what you do have. Love yourselves and each other. It's all you have in the end. Many blessings to all of you during this Christmas time!

COVER REVEAL!

Brand new covers for Lancaster House and The Middle Aisle!

~A paranormal romance series by Taylor Dean~

I love my OLD covers. (Pictured on the left.) I really do. They're different from the norm and that's why they captured my attention.

For Lancaster House, I liked the idea of a hand reaching out from the grave. It seemed appropriate to the story; Andre reaches out to Zoe from beyond the grave. It was Carrie-like and kind of creepy.

There's just one problem.

This is not a horror novel. Not at all. This is a paranormal romance. People who like horror are drawn to the cover and are sadly disappointed when they realize it's a romance.

People who love paranormal romance are turned off by the cover because it looks too creepy.

In other words, the cover just wasn't working.

I love The Middle Aisle cover because it matched Lancaster House so perfectly. And part of the story takes place in Monterey, California. Monterey is known for its Cypress trees. The tree on the cover of The Middle Aisle reminded me of a Cypress tree and seemed perfect.

But, if the right people aren't reading the first book, no one will ever read the second one no matter what the cover looks like!

Bam! Decision made!

It was time for new covers for Lancaster House and The Middle Aisle! I love the new covers because they speak so perfectly as to what's on the inside.

I really thought it would be great to get a new computer for Christmas. So I ordered a new Gateway One Zx6890, here is a pic:

So because of all of the business of Christmas I waited until thursday, the day after Christmas to set it up. Opened the box, pulled out the computer itself and began unpacking the rest of the stuff in there.The mouse, the keyboard and kept looking for the rest of the stuff, hmmm where is the Windows 8 disk? Where is the recovery disk? A mouse that has a line and plug? Not wireless? The keyboard that has a line and plug? Your kidding right? This is suppose to be the top of the line for Gateway and the price reflected it, but yet I got the cheapest accessories possible! So I go past that, I'll use my old ones. No problem. Got the computer all plugged in and set up and left it for awhile and had dinner and went to bed. Got up to use it and HEY! GUESS WHAT?!!! I've got a blue screen with error messages all over it!! What the hell is that about? So I'm trying to track down what all the damn error messages are for, and guess what? I can't do a system restore! It won't let me! I try to go into the BIOS to start up from the Windows Manager and guess what? It tells me I have no Windows in my C Drive? So where the hell is my Windows 8? Oh I found it! In D drive and I'm now in Z drive! How the hell did that happen? so I try to use a command prompt to go to D drive and restart it from there, nope. Won't let me access it. So I am really not kidding, because by now I'm so pissed off I could have punched someone in the face! Calm down, calm down. Hey call Gateway and get tech help, cool! Punching numbers in, english? yes damnit I speak english. My problem? Tech, yeah, pushed that button. On hold....holding....holding...., Yes I was on hold for 37 MINUTES!!!!!! Finally I get a representative of Gateway, what? I don't understand you, yes I pushed the button for English, your not English bitch, you are undoubtedly Indian or something because I can't understand a damn word your saying. You want to do a hard boot? yes I did that. F8 enter, F10 enter. Yes I did that! What do I need to do? I need to send it to a service center? Are you fucking kidding me? OH and I have to pay the SHIPPING? Come here bitch, cause I'm gonna slap you right through this damn phone!!! Let me talk to your supervisor! I gotta call back in 2 hours because there isn't one available? and if I don't want to send my computer (which is all of 24 hours old!) I can BUY a recovery disk? Let me tell, my stress level and anger are so high right now I can hardly stand it! Never ever buy a computer from GATEWAY! Prices are higher, customer reps are not knowledgeable. You will never ever get a Windows disc or a recovery disc, prepare to pay more if you do! The accessories are the cheapest you will find and all in all this is the WORST possible buy that I have ever, ever made! You will get nothing but frustration and more costs! Gateway You and Your Reps and Products totally suck!

Jonathan Benton always wanted to write books, having won first place in a short story competition when he was ten. Inspired by writes such as Ray Bradbury and Stephen King, Jonathan first discovered the crossover genre of literary/fantasy while reading Bradbury’s Something Wicked This Way Comes.
Jonathan grew up in New Zealand, dreaming of travelling to London and finally making the pilgrimage in his mid-twenties. Returning from England, he settled in Australia, the country he now calls home, and decided to take his writing seriously.
