The easy way to get MCSE from home

2011-01-24T03:27:00.000-08:00

MCSE training is the instruction given to Microsoft Certified Systems Engineers to enable them to set up and work with the systems developed by the company. For each new system introduced, a different certification is required. And to attain a certification you need to pass an exam, the instructions for which are provided through a number of different courses.

There are a number of companies that offer these courses in the form of regular classes, but you might not have the time to fit them into your schedule. The best option in such a scenario is self study, either through books or by signing up for an online program. Both of these allow for flexibility while also permitting you enough time to experiment and work out the kinks on your own.

Books

There are a number of books that will guide you through everything you need to know to sit for a particular certification exam. These are easily available on Amazon.com or can be purchased from your local book store. Using these for MCSE training along with a home test setup is very beneficial,

especially as it allows you to go as per your learning pace. The most recommended among the tutorials available are the MCSE Study System by Alan Carter and also the series by Curt Simmons.

These teach you what you need to know to pass the exam while also providing information at a practical level. They thus make good reference books even on the job. Often they also include a CD that comes with diagnostics, adaptive testing and interactive labs that are very useful. With the step-by-step instructions, teaching modules, exam stimulations and flash cards, you can be sure that you are getting as good a chance as someone going to a coaching class. What makes the difference between the two is the dedication and focus with which you work with the material.

Online Programs

Online MCSE training again allows you to set the pace of your learning, but gives you more dynamic hands-on experience than you would be able to get from a book or a CD. Studying and working online will give you better results, while making it easier for your errors to be detected and rectified. Interactive discussions, online mentoring and competing with other online users will help you determine where you stand. And then once you step out onto the field there is lesser margin for error since online programs work to improve your accuracy level.

MCSE training is very expensive irrespective of whether you obtain it from a book, an online portal or a regular class. Therefore there are a few things you need to keep in mind when you start your search for the best program. This is an investment of your time and money and you need to invest in the best. Choosing a program that gives you some guarantee will also hold you in good stead. Find out what the protocol is if you fail a test. Do they allow you to redo the exam for free, or do they reimburse you? Does the program also offer placements once you have obtained a certification? Check about the instructors and the testing and lab facilities. Practice is everything and you need the software and the setup to enable this. Ask for a free trial where possible so you can make sure you are getting your money's worth.

Only after you are satisfied with all of the above, should you consider signing up for an MCSE training program. Remember that the more questions you ask and the deeper you dig, the better are your chances of you getting exactly what you want.

Tips : How to Slow Computer

2011-01-21T07:02:00.001-08:00

Does your computer respond like a snail? Does it take forever to start a program? Are you like many people who are tired of having to spend a long time trying to get something done? If yes, then you are lucky, because I am about to present very simple yet very effective method of speeding up your computer. The three main reasons why computers slow down are:

- There is no space in the Hard disk

- Your computer is infected with virus or spyware

- The registry of your computer is overcrowded with missing or invalid entries.

If hard disk space is a problem, then you need to uninstall some unused programs and/or delete some large files. If you have a lot of music or video files, it's a good idea to go through them and remove those that you no longer want. But before you even start deleting any files, you must first find out whether the hard disk space is the cause of computer slow down. Go to "My computer" and click on each of your drives and look on the left to see if there is enough space. Usually, a computer runs fine if you have at least 100 Mb space in the drive that contains the Windows installation files (in most cases it is C://).You computer can also be slowed down by a virus or a spyware. If this is the cause you must remove the virus or spyware. Start your antivirus program and run a full system scan. The program will go through each and every file in your system to find out if there is a virus or a malware hiding there. If you don't have a antivirus or antispyware program, go to http://spywareshoot.info/ to get a free one.Another reason why most computers are slow is a messy registry. A registry is a log book of the Windows system, and the computer slows down considerably if the registry contains a lot of unnecessary or invalid entries. This is because the operating system wastes time going through unnecessary files, and therefore keeps the important programs waiting for their turn. This is why it is important to clean and repair your computers registry every once in a while. The best way to do this is by using a registry cleaner. If you don't have one already, you can get a free one from http://registry-booster.info/Follow these steps and I assure you that your computer will run considerably faster and you can get your work done on time.

Search For Duplicate Files and Improve Your Computer's Performance

2011-01-19T02:45:00.000-08:00

I have a very old $500 computer which was giving me lot of troubles I the recent past. Many of my friends suggested that I should just dump it and buy a new one, but I was not convinced that I should dump it. I knew that the problem could be remedied with a few tools and accordingly last Sunday I got down to the job of cleaning up my computer.
My first stop was the internet where downloaded a software to search for duplicate files. You might wonder why I was downloading software to look for duplicate files. Well, this is because like most of our computers my computer is also filled with redundant files. Be it image files or mp3's or videos or word files, I seem to have too many copies of them. Agreed that having a duplicate copy of a file is useful especially if you happen to accidentally delete one; but what use are three or even seven copies of the same file.
Similarly there is no requirement to have multiple copies of files like mp3 or videos; they can all be downloaded again even if you lose it. So with this idea in mind I set out to search for duplicate files on my computer.
When I ran the software on my computer, the results were very impressive. Within a few minutes the software had given me a list of almost 1000 duplicate files including media files, word files, registry entries, temp files and many more. Even as i write this article the software is running in the back ground to search for duplicate files on my computer.
Moreover I really liked the way this software showed the results to me. All duplicate files are arranged folder wise and with one click I can look at the file and decide whether to keep it or delete it.
Of course initially I had downloaded the trial version of this software, but seeing the features and the space I would free up I didn't mind paying $25 for the full version of the software as it had many more features.
One of the best features of the full version was the ability to compare folders. Let's say you have two hard disks and suspect that there is a lot of duplicate files in them. So simply run this software in the compare mode and select your two drives. The software will automatically compare each folder in the drive and give you a list of duplicate files. A very handy tool if you manage large volumes of data like in a large database unit.

So in conclusion, is software to search for duplicate files recommended? Definitely. By using such software, you can free up a lot of space from your hard disks and also make information well organised and easily accessible.

Tid Bits of Help: Microsoft Publisher for 2010

2011-01-17T04:46:00.000-08:00

Well folks, normally I bring you hints/tips about changes Microsoft has made to Word and Excel (with a couple of PowerPoint thrown in), but not Publisher. Well, that's because the changes have been small and seemingly Publisher was pretty much ignored - the step-child you might think. Not now.

According to my research, the templates and what you can do with them have been updated. There are new capabilities to work with the program for all those publications, sales and marketing materials you love to work with! (Any chance to play, and with bright/shiner toys works for me!) So, for one thing in the 2010 Publisher gets to use the Ribbon along with the new Backstage feature. Publisher wasn't left out this time.

The updated picture tools we found in Word and Excel have finally made it to Publisher (where it should have been all along anyway) allowing for more control of photos. They've included a new object alignment technology, building blocks of content and fine typography options like true small caps and stylistic alternates. All the things we've been wanting to make desktop publishing better.

So having said all of the above, what is new/improved?

* Well one thing, when you're working with an inserted picture and you want to make changes, you can see them before you accept them. A big time saver. (in the "improved" category)
* Add captions for the photos and the ability to choose from a gallery of caption layouts.
* The object alignment technology provides grids to work with - not just the rules on the side and bottom and the hope you have it lined up correctly. (in the "improved" category)
* For print preview you can simultaneously view both sides of a page, multiple pages, page boundaries and more print info to achieve the correct print result the first time. (in the "new" category) Now, to be honest folks I don't see how this is new. As you've always been able to see multiple pages in Print Preview, then have the option to print from the preview mode. But the research states it's a new feature.
* The building blocks of content for items like mastheads and graphics are easier due to the accessibility of the pre-existing themes in fonts and colors. (in the "improved" category)
* Fine typography is much improved. We now have the ability to use ligatures, true small caps, stylistic alternates and alternate numeral forms. Such as fun things with the fonts like reflective and a better look to the shadow. (in the "improved" category)
* When connected to the internet, there are more Publisher templates available on Office Online than before. (in the "improved" category)
* And as you could in Publisher 2007 - you can save a file as a PDF or XPS for easier sharing and printing.

Now remember, this is all research-based and I'm going on what Microsoft has stated. I haven't purchased the 2010 product yet - I have too many clients still using 2002 and the special effects won't convert to the older versions. That is something for you to keep in mind. When feasible, save as a PDF document then no worries with folks opening in older versions.

Hello, I am Liz LaClair, President of Virtually Helps, LLC. I have researched and compiled this information with the idea of helping my friends, potential clients and readers. Knowing that sometimes change is a challenge and not always received well, my goal is to shed some light and guide you through the new set up for Office 2007. I hope you find this to be helpful.

Facebook Is Shutting Down Or What?

2011-01-15T04:45:00.000-08:00

One of the crucial things that appeared in the 21st Century and a thing that has changed the world and our views of life is definitely the social network called Facebook. At once people decide to share their private life with strangers from all around the world, put their thoughts, their interests and affections on the internet, with a purpose to communicate with known and unknown persons.

Facebook, since the day it has appeared, has been connecting distant relatives that live in different parts in the world, helps find your classmates that you haven’t seen them for many, many years, hides many new born loves, but in the same time is a reason for cheating, divorcing, misunderstandings… The point is that thanks to the mass hypnosis, caused by Facebook, the network has proximately 500 millions active users, according to the statistics and the last news that has been spreading on the internet is that Facebook is going to be shut down on 15th March!

This news has made a panic into the world of the network. Besides the practical side of this invention, the network has made many people addicted from it, addicted from spending their precious time staring at the PC and thinking of some unknown people instead of thinking of them selves. “Weekly world news” was the web page that published this news on Saturday, January 8th, and the declared was followed by almost 10 000 comments.

According to this page, the founder on the network, Mark Zuckerberg has announced in a press conference outside his Palo Alto office that Facebook has went out of control, that has been making his life too stressful, the madness is spreading all around, so he has decided to shut down the page and bring his life back. Reputedly this news was confirmed from the others employed in Facebook.

And while one group of people is pretty upset from the news, another group feels free finally. The parents mention the rpg games played on this network that has been putting their children in danger, confronting them with suspicious types of people. They are happy because this way their children will have time to talk to them, instead of chatting all the time.

But the things can’t be that easy then it’s about FB. On Monday, January 10th, CNN has announced that the news was false. They declare that it can’t be possible in this moment after the company has announced pretty important round of funding.

However, true or false, this is a thing that would be talk about a lot, until the famous date when we’ll definitely know what will be our free time preoccupation in future – Facebook or something new…

How to lock the computer virus

2011-01-14T03:21:00.001-08:00

Is your computer is running slowly and seems to be at the edge. You may have a virus on your computer. In case you don't know, what is a virus? what it can do for your computer? How can you do protect your computer from it?

The virus is a malicious program which replicates itself through your computer without asking you or takes permission from you. This program can infect your files and make it malfunctioned. For example, you may open a Microsoft word file and see it failed to open. Assuming that the cause of this failure is a virus, and then you will likely to see other files is malfunctioned as soon as one file is failed due to a virus on your computer.

In essential, a virus is large collection of instructions attached to one of your programs. These instructions can be getting from different sources such as browsers when you open the internet, a link in email, floppy disk, flash memory, or others. When one of these programs is opened, these instructions are executed along with the original program you opened and load itself in the memory, and then it can write itself to other files in the computer.

In fact, there are two strategies the virus can infect with. The first one is called Nonresident strategy. In this type of infection, the virus looks for other files and resources to infect only on the local computer. In the second strategy, which is called, Resident strategy, the virus looks for other hosts to infect if it is connected to a local network.

The most important is how to prevent these viruses from your computer. The common technique is to install an anti-virus software on your computer. This software works by detecting viruses on your computer. It has many techniques to detect that there is an existing virus according to software vendor. It can detect it based on signature in the file it scan. A signature is a certain pattern it looks for and if exists then it decides that a virus exists. Every sofware that uses thuis technique has a database of this signatures which represents the most common viruses. Some anti-virus sotware also detect by looking for the behaviour of the file being opened which is called heuristic detection .

A second technique to prevent your computer from viruses is to backup your data. If some files is infected on your computer, you will find some copies of your data. You can store it, for example on CD, or DVD.

What You Need to Know Before Moving From XP to 7

2011-01-14T03:20:00.001-08:00

Windows 7 is out and spreading, you're interested in upgrading to it from your trusted Windows XP (as you remain as revolted to Vista as you've been for the past three years it's been in existence), so now you need to know what's what. Well, you might as well be informed; Windows 7 is pretty much an upgrade of Vista, not XP. That is to say though the Vista is an upgrade of XP, most of what you're used to in XP will not be the same in Windows 7. What with the huge difference between Vista and XP, you should expect that much. So, in turn, you should be ready to leave XP behind and brace yourself to accept Vista's 'developments' for the sake of embracing Windows 7's improvements of them.

True, Vista was not really that friendly to XP users. And its consistent delays from launching just made XP all the more the usual operating system, with vendors developing programs and applications for XP, such that when Vista launched, it was too much of a leap from XP that its inherent good parts were overshadowed by the initial (and evidently long lasting) negative feedback people had for it on first glance. But as was mentioned, be prepared to let those be, because as far as both versions go, Vista and 7 are markedly the same.

But hold it right there, 7 is similar to Vista, but has improved upon all the supposed bad points of said operating system. The thing is, you have to accept that XP and its programs, applications, drivers, software and hardware has seen its time. If you do so, you can enjoy Windows 7 to its fullest.

Windows 7 offers the best start menu - taskbar combination so far, in the guise of the Taskmaster. The quick launch is no more, as the entire taskbar now acts as a sort of quick launch. You can pin programs and applications there, as well as drag and rearrange not just those icons but any running programs. The notification area can be better handled-meaning you won't be as annoyed with constant message balloons that say the most insignificant things in the middle of what you're doing. The start menu has been improved as well, and the instant search bar from Vista is still there.

The look is pretty much the same, though improved here and there. If you're one to appreciate the details you'll find 7's look a welcome (though somewhat minute) improvement from Vista's. Performance-wise, 7 took Vista's concept and developed them further, improving the overall performance and computing experience. In a nutshell, 7 handles memory usage and processing time better than Vista. The same goes for the amount of memory taken by the operating system itself and the time it takes to install it.

People who know know that 7 is better than Vista and drastically better than XP, but you'll still encounter a number of the facets that made Vista unpopular. Even packaged and iconic programs like Windows Media Player (version 12 in Windows 7) are lackluster compared to its predecessors. User Account Control is still around, though definitely far less annoying than its Vista counterpart.

But the most important thing to take into consideration is: what runs and is compatible with Vista should run and should be compatible with 7. But, the adverse is also true: what doesn't run and is not compatible with Vista probably wouldn't run and wouldn't be compatible with 7.
